It was my first time making an Amazon return at this location, and unfortunately, it will also be my last. The return process was confusing from the moment I walked in. There was only a small sign among all the other store signage. I first went to the customer service desk, where I was told to go to the registers. Once I got there, I was looking for a self-service return kiosk and had to ask the cashier where it was. He pointed to a sign at another register, which I had overlooked because I was expecting an actual self-service kiosk. When I found the kiosk area, I realized there wasn't a self-service option after all, so I got in line at the regular register. The associate immediately said, rather rudely, "Go by the register and wait for me." I apologized and explained that I had been looking for a self-service kiosk. He replied, "There is no such thing here." He then came over and logged into the register without saying anything else. I had my QR code ready, and he scanned it. Since I had two separate items to return, I picked up one item to clarify which return matched the QR code he had just scanned. His response was, "Do you want me to do my job or not?" I was completely shocked and embarrassed. I immediately apologized and explained that I was only trying to separate the two returns. He responded, "All returns are separate," and continued processing them. When he finished applying the return labels, he simply stood there. I was expecting a receipt but felt so intimidated by the interaction that I was afraid to ask for one. As I started to walk away, he said, "I'm sorry if I upset you." By that point, my eyes were already filling with tears. I walked out of the store crying. My husband, who had been waiting in the car, couldn't understand how such a simple return had gone so badly in just a few minutes. He wanted to go back inside and speak with the associate, but I asked him not to. The associate was not wearing a name badge, so I cannot identify him by name. I can honestly say this was the poorest customer service I have ever experienced in a retail store. Everyone has difficult days, but there is never a reason to speak to a customer in such a disrespectful and dismissive manner. I left feeling humiliated over what should have been a routine return. read more

We came here for our TSA precheck interviews, and it was very easy. My husband and I scheduled back to back interviews, so we went together. There were people there ahead of us who must have been the appointment before us. It probably takes like 15 minutes. It's more getting your info than an interview. I'd definitely recommend doing it here. Plenty of parking, too. read more

Waited in line to just do a simple return via UPS happy returns. People were involved in large copy projects and other various things. Couldn't stop for 30 seconds to just do a scan. I will not be doing any more"happy returns" via UPS at their store. Terrible, completely low priority. read more

My stomach is a little pudgy and I want it to be flat and more ab-by, like Rochester native Abby Wambach. So I came to Staples to get some tummy Staples. I don't like Staples because they're so expensive, but there are certain things which, when you need them, will be much more likely found here than anywhere else, and that's why I - and many others - appreciate Staples. They kind of have everything, and that includes things others don't carry. For that reason I give them three for convenience and location. Having said that, the prices are high, and the service isn't great, so I can see why people would give them low ratings. read more

Fine for printing services. Don't come here for your passport photo, instead go to the FedEx down the road. The photo I received was poorly lit, bad quality, and more expensive than FedEx. They also stated they offered services such as passport renewal and digital photos online, but did not actually offer any of these options in the store. I regret wasting my money on a photo from here. read more

The manager on duty did what I asked but was very rude about it. She ultimately did give me a discount due to unclear signage on some binders that were on sale but was very clear in speaking about it that I was wrong to ask for it and should have known that things being on different shelves meant that mixing and matching would not be possible. You had to buy three of the same size binders to get the lower price, even though they were priced per binder, not per three binders. All the binders had the same sign, with different prices per size. Nowhere did it say must be three of the same. Some sizes were mixed together and the designs of the binders were the same in all three sizes available. I was trying to get two 1.5 inch and one 1 inch, at the prices listed for those sizes. It wouldn't have had a problem if she had just said no, it was her attitude in saying no and treating me like I was ignorant for not remembering Staples policy about things on different shelves that bothered me. Worse, after the transaction, I could see she was talking to other employees about me. I was trying to find the name of the actually helpful employee from the electronics section, who agreed with me that a cheap headphone splitter would not serve my needs and wished he had a better one. He was also helpful in the office furniture section and directed us to various parts of the store where we were trying to find things. Without him, the visit would have been 0-1 stars. I would love to mention him by name because he should be manager, not the woman who is. But the terrible manager was busy talking to him and glaring at me for approaching anywhere near them so I didn't get his name. It had been a while since I shopped at Staples during a back to school sale, and now I remembered why I have often avoided it as a grown-up. I did try another location of Staples closer to Greece, and had a better experience there. I'd strongly suggest avoiding this location. read more

Went to use the print center to create 7 50-page documents. I noticed the signs all over the store saying they're short staffed and have patience. I should have taken that as a warning. While printing I was first approached by another customer asking me where to locate an item. I explained I don't work there and he went about his day. The machine ran out of toner midway through my job so I looked over at the gentleman in the print center who was busy with another customer. I waited a few minutes but he was still busy so I walked over to group of 4 associates that appeared to maybe be the leadership team as they were all in business professional street clothes rather than any branded staples gear, but they clearly worked there as they all had walkies in their ear, name tags, etc. I asked them if someone could help me change the toner over. They all looked over to the print center, saw the young man I saw earlier (still helping a customer) and turned back to me saying "josh will help you when he's done." 4 employees standing together in a group huddle, not appearing to be in the middle of any particular task, and I was told to go back to my machine to wait. I had no other choice as I needed my documents so I went back to my machine and waited. I waited seven minutes while those same 4 individuals continued to have their conversation feet away from me while I waited for somebody to help me. If you're having a meeting and you can't be interrupted then you shouldn't be holding the meeting on the floor while customers are in need of help. To me they don't appear understaffed, they appear to have staff that takes a "that's not my job" attitude. After 7 minutes someone else finally came and took toner out of the nearby machine and threw it in mine leaving the next machine useless. As I finished my copy job a second customer came over to me asking me for help again. I laughed to myself I'm the only person who looks like I know what I'm doing in there, that's why. read more

Needed to get some office supplies recently and visited this store. It's easy in and out in a plaza, pretty big, and clean. The supplies I needed were easily found, a little pricey, but I was in a hurry so can't complain as they had them in stock. Cashier was nice to me, I was in and out probably within 10 minutes so will go back if I need office supplies. read more

10-31-22 Staples policies and staff were great, yesterday, at the Jefferson Road store, Rochester, NY. We needed a new laser printer compatible with Mac OS, AND we had three expensive toner cartridges from the defunct printer to return. They had never been opened, and we had receipts, but the purchase as over a year ago. The staffer, Angel, was friendly, knowledgeable about the equipment and our needs, and she got it all done for us in a short period of time. The cartridge refund paid for the new printer, with money left over. She helped us pick out a new printer with less costly cartridges, and compatible with our Operating Systems. It was in stock. We set it all up at home, and are very pleased. Angel is a woman who knows her stuff, has a great smile, and made our shopping trip a pleasant experience. Thanks, Angel!! read more

I went into Staples after ordering a custom digital print off Etsy needing assistance with resizing and printing the images. I was met by the nicest most patient staff member ever! Robbie was more then helpful and knew exactly what to do to get us the perfect print. While she was helping us a man came in who was having a bad day, he was rude and demanding. Robbie handled him in the most caring and respectful manner and provided him with the highest customer service possible. Employees like Robbie will make me keep coming back here! read more

Ironic that this Staples now occupies the former Office Depot location. Of course, Office Depot left the area a long time ago only to re-emerge as Office Depot/Office Max. Staples tried to acquire the chain last year for 5.5 billion dollars but the FTC rejected it. This Staples is a fairly well put together and managed location, with a quixotic blend of services. I stop by here often to get flash drives, hard drives, printers and other sundry items for my clients. Staples, like many other retailers, has trained it's customers to wait for fliers in emails or snail mail. If you don't have access to either then you should check out some of the deal sites like Slickdeals or Fatwallet. read more

I rarely write reviews for such chain stores, since, let's face it, we all know that we're sacrificing service for price, and just getting what you want with whatever crappy service is probably worth the savings. But, my experiences today at Staples on Jefferson took customer service to a new low. A little background first: I fill out a lot of documents at work, and I found one particular pen that I like above all others out there. Staples used to carry it, but now, it's a special-order piece, at $19/dozen, so I ordered a box to be delivered free to this store. I got an email yesterday saying it was in, so I went there today to pick it up. I got there, went straight to customer service, and waited behind 2 other people for the single agent who was doing BOTH customer service, AND running a cash register line. Finally, after 10 minutes, I got to the lady, told here what I was there for, and, she paged somebody, and continued to both run the register AND answer the phones. 10 minutes passed. She paged somebody again. I told her that my purchase was already paid for, but she said "It's in the back", and paged somebody again. While I was standing there, I noticed a mylar envelope with a bulge almost exactly the size of a box of 12 pens sitting on the counter, with a delivery label on it. When the employee came 5 minutes later, he asked me what I ordered. I told him "It's a box of 12 pens, probably EXACTLY THE SIZE OF THAT BOX IN THAT ENVELOPE THERE", and even pointed to the envelope. He walked away, and I didn't see him for 10 minutes. When he came back, he said, "I can't find it", to which I asked if that very same envelope just happened to be mine. It was. 25 minutes waiting lost to a bunch of morons! In the future, when I want another order of Uni*ball 0.5 blue RollerGrip pens, I'll order them from OfficeMax. Let's hope they do a better job. read more

I can't give this place any more than maybe 2.5 stars.. I've been in this location a few times for various things. It's always comedy.. Why cause everyone who works at this place gas gotta be like 17 years old and kind of out of it... I don't know how this company is still around for companies and etc when you can get paper and accessories cheaper on line. If you see what you want on line order it on line.. I'm not looking for anything esoteric but staff always seems annoyed and no one is even in this place. Service is ok but it seems like your putting someone out.. That's all I got read more
