Maybe it's because I wasn't actually shipping something, but using their printing services. I had waited last minute (as always) to get some programs printed up for a show that I had on Thursday evening. Was a bit pressed for time, and wasn't looking forward to trekking out to Henrietta to us another well known printers services. Was pleasantly surprised to find that these guys do printing as well, and are right around the corner from my home. Even more surprising was their price per page was cheaper than the other place I was looking at, and the prices at that place were self serve! Placed my order online at about 10am and the site said that it would be done at about 3:30. Got a text at 12:30pm telling me that it was already done. Got to the shop, checked my order only to find that the pages hadn't printed longways, but vertical on the page. Freaking out because I thought it was something that I did, the employees were super helpful and explained that this happens often and it's something that you have to request in the notes section of your order. No questions asked, they reprinted my whole order for no charge. About 70% through the order I noticed that the pages, while printed in the right orientation, were printing upside down on one of the pages. Found out again that this was yet another thing that had to be special requested when placing the order. But, once again they restarted and reprinted the entire order for no charge. Not once did they make me feel dumb, or even balk at the fact that we had to go through this process 3 times before getting it right. I'll definitely be back.

Convenient for her, as all other employees in the store were wearing one. I told her I needed to process a return. She said she needed the shipping label. Which I didn't have. When I told her I didn't think I was given one. She was a total smart ass. "Well, I need some kind of label" of course you do sweetie! I know how returns work. I didn't want to hold up the line so I took a step back and started to pull up the return to see if there was a shipping label. The woman I let go in front of me didn't have a shipping label, and the girl behind the counter.(same girl) very politely and sweetly informed the woman how she can email the label to her, she can print it out, and presto she is done. My BF and so looked at each other, like whaaat! Why would she be so polite to this woman and so rude to us? So I asked the woman, can I please get a copy of that email address? She kinda tossed it to us. Now my BF and I decided to take the Blake and Ryan approach, and just simply discuss this woman's indiscretions, as if she wasn't there. We were not loud, or rude, very matter of fact. She knew of course we were talking about her. She was uncomfortable, as was everyone else. Which suited me fine. Since they all made us uncomfortable. Shame, because UPS is really losing a lot of money right now. You would think there would be more care by their in shop employees. I know their Drivers are awesome. I was referred to Upper Case by Dave at Eastern Printing Co. I reached out via email about getting…read morean estimate for a large print that I needed mounted on foam core. A few other places quoted ~$70-80, but I paid $39 for the job at Upper Case. I emailed her on a Tuesday and the print was ready two days later on Thursday. Beyond the great service Tracy provided, the location was convenient and they were super speedy. Their studio space is quite large too. Great for large format prints, tradeshows, banners, etc. I will be going back for more print jobs in the future.

City Blue Imaging gave us a quote and even offered a discount because we were students! They really worked with us to get what we needed and I could not have asked for better customer service. For $40 we were able to get a quality 3x4' engineering print of a research poster within a few hours. But...sometimes this is the place where some retailers want you to use as your spot to return merchandise. Like UPS Store for Amazon and the like. Now I had to come here to do a return as the company uses "Happy Returns" This is a long and narrow store, they have a few self serve kiosks for printing/copying and the like. A few people were in here to ship things and ask questions. So since I really was not sure where to stand, I stood behind a customer and someone asked "can I help you?" I told her I needed to do a return and I showed her the QR Code and it did not work, tried it again no go, even typed it in and she even logged out of the system. Finally she asks someone is there an issue with Happy Returns and they said yes. So guess what I have to come back, with the package and my QRcode from my email on my phone. My only other option for a return was Staples and dear reader I live in the city. If I'm going out that way I had best have other things to do in Henrietta. I'll have to come back to do the return and it's in a convenient spot in the strip mall of 12 Corners and if I want a piece of pizza at Joe Brooklyn or Starbucks or a Bagelland bagel Staff is helpful enough but they just seem kind of annoyed it is what it is. I heard about this space the first time following an invite to a pre-Valentine's Day event…read morefeaturing other local vendors like Black Button, Hedonist Chocolate, and Devil May Care. Perfect opportunity to pick up a last minute gift and grab a locally made card. It was the coolest idea and brought people into Type High. I loved their prints and picked up a few cards and posters on the trip. The space is on Railroad St. Between Rohrbach's and the Public Market. You'll see a small sign on the door and go up a flight of stairs that leads into the studio. It's filled with all the cool letterpress stamps and tons of their prints were hanging on the wall and boxes filled with different themes cards, everything from happy birthday to babies and anniversary cards. Lots of quippy imagery and sayings, like "Happy F*cking Whatever!" We have a ton of awesome letterpress studios in ROC so it's cool to see the variety between the different spaces. Cards were $4 and posters were $18.
