My experience has proved, without any doubt, that I should remain a devoted Office Depot customer. I swore of this location about eight years ago, alas, I was forced to purchase here. Online order was not ready, as informed. I was told, "You can always shop it yourself now you're here". Which I did and couldn't locate one item that was supposed to be in stock. "Yeah, we don't keep that one out. (Big sigh). I'll go and get it" I was then told I needed access to the email which it was purchased through, or the cashier couldn't release the products to me. After a back-and-forth, I was instructed to "just sign the phone". The store phone, not the individuals personal phone that seemed to be of greater importance, was grimy and utterly disgusting. I asked could the person just wipe or clean it first. "Everybody else uses it, what the problem ?" Errrrrrrm....exactly. Fortunately I have hand wipes in the car, as one does. I signed it. Grabbed my stuff. Exited. This entitled, lazy, obnoxious, 'ratchet', 'slore' of a girl is a perfect example of how the world is degenerating. My niece and I dropped by Staples in search of a mouse pad. When we entered the store, there was hardly anyone else in there; maybe two people by their business center, but cashier greeted us warmly as we entered. We wandered around for a bit and finally asked for help. A young lady was kind enough to point us in the right direction. There were a couple of mouse pads to choose from; we made our selection, headed to the cashier and was on our merry way. Friendly folks, but apparently understaffed and can't service. I needed to buy an ink cartridge and couldn't wait for delivery. Decided to pay their premium price. Went to check out and all the registers were closed. A sign directed me to the print/business side of the store. Another person was waiting there, but again there was no one was there. Waited. Heard employees unpacking boxes and loading shelves. Waited some more. Saw a couple of employees and tried to get their attention at a distance. Finally I got their attention and they motioned me back to a solitary check out register where I had begun . Now I was all of a sudden, third in line. Another our 4-minute wait. If I didn't need that cartridge, I could have saved myself 11 minutes simply waiting to check out. That's inexcusable! read more

The reps are polite, just overwhelmed. Selection: I haven't seen an office supply store with so many empty shelves and bare product rungs. I'm often underwhelmed at the customer service here. The reps are mostly nice, but poorly trained. I went in and one guy was running around the print center, helping with printing and doing Amazon returns. I was asked to go see the other gal working, for my Amazon return. No big deal. Walking over, she doesn't acknowledge me and immediately begins walking to another counter (is this even the person he told me to come see?) She then cannot log into the Amazon system on her device and proceeds to mutter frustrations under her breath, eventually leading to me having to go back over to the first guy. In the interim, a customer came by and asked how long an item would be on sale. Her reply? I dunno. Not even gonna try and find out? Wild. I also witnessed them tell another Amazon returner that his return 'won't fit in the box that Amazon provides to Staples' and then made him cancel his return, to process it via UPS. What? Staples has a contract with Amazon for returns, regardless of size. That is not a customer's issue, it is a staples/amazon issue. Do not ask a customer to go out of their way. Accept the return and then figure out a better SOP for larger returns, at your location, because I can only assume it will... happen again. read more

I was designing a postcard on Canva, and as I was placing a print order for 100 cards, I realized that I could pick it up at a local Staples instead of having them to mail them to me. At that point I didn't realize that Staples were doing the actual printing. So I place the order, specifying this Staples on Plumb. An hour later, I get an email telling me that the order is ready. That's when I realized that the printing was done at Staples! I hurry over to pick them up. The cards are beautifully done, and when I mentioned how quick it was, the staff says, "oh yes, when order came in, I wasn't busy so I just got it done." Thank you soooo much! This was the first time I ever stopped in this spot. It was very orderly and well staffed with excellent safety protocols in place. The manager actually strongly told a man to pull up his mask when he came in the front door. I thought it was kinda cool that he jumped on him so quickly. It had some great stuff for sale. I have a weird obsession with nice pens. I have a couple of Cross pens and they are amazing but I buy the Parker pens for my everyday use. Wow I surprised that they had gone up from $8.00 apiece to $18.00 apiece! They had a really pretty red color so I got 5 of those... I actually stocked up on some more disposable masks and some plastic gloves that actually fit since I wear them always when I leave the house to go anywhere... I'm a very high risk for Covid since my immune system is shot...TMI :) I really was impressed with this location and the manager was on to- of his game for sure! read more

The main reason for my latest visit was to print out newly updated resumes for myself. I opted for the self-print option and the submission process was pretty straight forward. After receiving a confirmation email, you'll want to make sure to keep that saved because it provides you with a code to access the printer at the store you set it for. I went to the Staples on Plumb since it's such a short drive from where I live. I headed straight for the Copy and Print Center and headed for the printer. The instructions for the printer were also easy to follow; once you input your code and after your transaction, the printer will do its part! I didn't have to speak to a single employee there. It's great to know that we can print our important documents without the need of assistance. The employees can help other customers who need it as well. read more

Can I give it a zero? I have a home office, and I've tried hard to support this store over the years, although my amazon bill shows the inadequacy of their stock and pricing I just went in to scan a 200 page document. I was quoted 8 cents/page last week in Chicago, and 40 cents from Sierra document management an hour ago. This store wanted to charge me a dollar (50 cents on self service). I called the manager over to deal with what was *clearly* a system error and she didn't see any problem with scanning costing 12 times what it did in Chicago and 2.5 times printing, and thelocal high end art scanner. I left, called office depot, and was quoted 25 cents a page. I went back in to let them know that there truly must be a system error on that pricing, and was escorted out. I've been advocating hard amongst my community to keep this door open. I will now putt similar effort into ensuring folks they are overpriced, and too under authorized to change obvious errors, or too stupid, wait let's be nice, incompetent at their sector to recognize obvious errors. read more

They are very rude at this location. A female "assisted" me when I called regarding the order I placed online. The order had been canceled without any notification sent to me. I called and gave her the order number and explained the situation and ultimately she got an attitude with me when I asked how I was supposed to get my money back. Staples charged my card, canceled my order, and then they make you jump through hoops to get your money back. For a service that is supposed to be based on convenience, it was a nightmare. The layout of this store is easy to follow and find items in! The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet and leaves you space to think without frustration. This store setting is perfect for people with anxiety. They have a wide range of things aside from office supplies! They have snacks, coffee machines, toilet paper and paper towels, etc. (which I suppose are office supplies as well, but hey! I would never think to look for TP here). We went shopping here for a desk for the wife's office. The selection was very limited in the store but an associate was nice enough to add that they had a much larger selection on their website that they would ship to the store if we were interested. Honestly, if we wanted to order online we would likely order from someone with better prices because their selection seemed to cost about 15-20% more than other online retailers. We were willing to pay for being able to have it at the moment of purchase and being able to see it in person both of which lack online. I guess with the large amount of floor space a decent selection of desks would occupy, the bean counters decided it would be best used for other merchandise. read more

Went to Staples to buy HP ink because of an email I received earlier in the week (April 4th) from Staples. The deal was buy 1 HP ink and get the 2nd 40% off. It also said "Save instantly in store!". Additionally, the HP ink promotion in the email did not have an expiration date. When I went to pay for my ink, I told the cashier about the email and showed it to her. Even after reading it, she kept asking me for a coupon. She said she couldn't give me the discount without a 10 digit code. I informed her the email clearly stated, "Save instantly in store!". She ended up asking her manager who said she couldn't do anything. This was one of the worst customer service I have ever received. There's definitely a disconnect between corporate who sends out the emails and the folks who work in the store! Any way, I gave my money to Best Buy instead. read more

I was looking for a computer monitor and the big box stores around town did not have any available. I looked at Staples.com to see their local inventory and was able to locate a monitor that I liked. I called the store and spoke to Jason who gave me some more information. Within 15 minutes I was able to drive over and pick it up. Jason was friendly, helpful and quick. So, 2 things I didn't know about Staples until recently 1) If you make an account online you can send digital documents to their stores and it's only 10 cents to print each B&W page. No order minimum either. I bought some paper with a "rebate." After going through the insane, laborious process, I had to "activate" my rebate card. The automated system did not work, so I spent 10 minutes with your operator. Who then insisted on speaking with my wife, because we used HER info. So, this whole process takes a half hour or more. You do everything your power to NOT pay the useless 16 bucks. It's insane, and I will remember and tell everyone I know that you have shabby, ugly and stupid customer service, all in an attempt to discourage people from taking advantage of your "special offer." I don't own a printer because it's actually easier and cheaper to take a flash drive down to Staples, where the ink is never dry, the paper's never out, and the people always greet me with a smile. I really enjoy getting copies and posters made at the Plumb Lane Staples location! Anna and Ashton are some of my favorite faces there. They help me figure out which paper will work best, and they problem-solve to make bizarre files and requests come out beautifully! Most of the printing that I have done is for my clients; Staples makes ME look good! Their turn-around time is impressive; for same-day services, I always choose Staples. Beyond the Copy/Print Center I have found everything I need for my business: from computers to flash drives to notebooks to dry erase markers. I spend so much time at Staples that my daughter knows her way around the store; she requests to be put into a shopping cart and wheeled to the computer section where she can watch a movie on the monitors. The staff at Staples is always very kind and attentive to her; it feels good to go to a corporate business that still feels warm and friendly. Their Rewards program truly is rewarding. As a business owner it's nice to get a little perk in the mail. My Rewards dollars get turned into office supplies, and it sure feels good to pick up a fancy pen that I didn't really pay for! I bought my main laptop there the day before Thanksgiving. Because they valued me as a customer, and because they knew they would be very busy on Black Friday, they hooked me up with incentives so that I ended up paying the same amount as if I waited a few more days to make my purchase. Because of Staples, I was able to transfer data from one computer to the next over a vacation, instead of at the start of the work week. The experience was so easy that I came back a few months later and bought another Windows 8 laptop for my business and household use.
