Me to employee: "Oh sorry. Did I wake you? That didn't seem possible since the manager is forever screaming across the store." While I like Staples generally, this store does not represent them well. The team is simply not customer-focused. I have overheard entirely inappropriate conversations by employees on their cell phones. The employees just seem to be forever hanging around chatting while customers wait in line to pay their salaries. The cashiers seem so put-out having to take my money. The team definitely does not understand what the customer experiences in that store. Or maybe they don't care. I will say that the exception is the team at the copy center. They are very responsive, helpful, and move things along quickly. And Staples, if I have your attention here: please contact the management of Fresh Pond Mall. The sidewalks are always FILTHY and the parking lot is a disgrace. That doesn't represent you well either. read more

I went in just looking for super glue and he escorted me to it then helped me find the best deal...then made a joke and a pun!! You know how Staples says: "Staples will price match items sold by any retailer who sells products in both retail stores and online under the same brand; we will also match those that are sold and shipped by Amazon.com"? Well, don't expect that to apply when shopping at this Staples branch! Today I went by the store to get a Lenmar DLZ302c replacement battery for Canon cameras. The price on Amazon is $14.45 and it is sold and shipped by Amazon.com (see link here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0049U3XNS/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?pc_redir=1388099938). I went to the cashier to ask her if they still matched Amazon prices and she said yes. Soon after saying yes, this gentleman, who is her manager, joined in the conversation to say "only if it is sold and shipped by Amazon.com" so I showed him the website on my iPhone. Without saying a word he turned me down and said it was not the same battery. I showed him that it was and had the same product code: Lenmar DLZ302C. He interrupted me and snapped "no that is not the same code because the battery color is not the same". Yes the color was not the same bc the one at their store had a sticker with the same information while the Amazon one had the information printed, but they are the SAME product, made by the same company, same voltage, for the same camera, with THE SAME PRODUCT ID NUMBER. At this point I was getting really annoyed especially bc the product ID matched and he was adamant that they did not. He said I would need to pay $49.95!!! I told him that even the staples website sells it at $18 to which he said "if it was $18 on the website, it would show up as $18 when we scan it here" and then pointed at the register, which displayed $49.95. At this point there was no doubt that he was basically accusing me of lying so I got my iPhone out again, went to their website, and showed him that it is indeed priced at $18. Instead of apologizing, he went over to one of their computers to verify and then said "oh good deal". I'm sorry but what a jerk. I felt bad for the poor lady working at the register because she was nice and professional, unlike her manager. So after all the back and forth, I paid $18 for the battery they wanted $49.95 for BUT THEY STILL WOULD NOT MATCH THE AMAZON PRICE. Appalled by the service, I didn't feel like arguing anymore. I will upload the photo of the battery sold and shipped by Amazon and the one they sell so you can see it's the same product (for whatever reason one has a black label sticker and the other one doesn't). Staples used to be a place I'd go to often, but it's such an unpleasant place now that I avoid it at all costs. Stopped by this location for the first time since the copy and print center at the Brighton location was out of service. Was really satisfied with my experience at this location. The associates were very friendly and helped me quickly. I placed an order for bonded portfolios and was able to pick them up same day within a few hours. I went to a run to pick up food and haircut but didn't kill enough time. However I called to see if my order was ready for pick up and they were ready an hour before the quoted time. The binder portfolio came out perfect and as requested. Thanks! read more

Tried to get copies of my uncles CD book, that we made, We copy righted, once I convinced them that it was our copyright, it was one lie after another. The copier was broken, the paper was out, the cutter wasn't working (what..?), there was no ink. Half the time she was trying to 'help me', she was texting on her phone. If you need any kind of printing done, this is not the place to do it. I simply wanted to print a few copies of my resume on high quality paper and was told to come back days later, that they were backed up on jobs. A computer and printer were completely free so I asked if I could just print from there. The answer was yes, so I continued to inquire about purchasing nice paper. The first man I asked just walked away from me. The second woman I asked told me the first man should be helping me... I finally received my paper and upon printing, the printer just kept printing and printing and printing my resume. Nothing like having to pay for 50 copies when you selected 10 because I didn't have the time to make my case to the inept employees. Other customers were having a hard time shipping items, people were yelling, I was trying to get to an interview - not a pretty scene. read more

Couldn't use corporate account (we're a massive client of theirs) on printer after they told me it's a TWO DAY WAIT to get my print outs for a presentation tomorrow. This review covers my experience using Staple's Copy & Print center at the Fresh Pond location in Cambridge. I have used this location before with so-so results, but because it's so close to where I work, I stupidly kept going back. This time, I needed a brochure printed for and because I was unsure which paper type would look best, I asked if I could have the document printed on 3 or 4 different kinds of paper so my boss and I could decide on which paper to use. After I waited in line for several minutes, I explained to the person who was working what I wanted. Even while I was explaining the situation, she was still be listening to what other customers were asking for and would actually interrupt me to help these other people, even though they had their own Staples employee to help them. When the girl finally understood what I wanted, she said that would be no problem to do. She proceeded to gather the different types of paper, making several trips back and forth to the paper aisle to get the ones she didn't seem to have behind the counter - which ended up being every kind - and she would walk at a snail's pace. It was an incredibly slow process and at this point I had been in the store for almost 30 minutes. She then encountered issues with their printer and began conversing with the other employee on what could be wrong. I was becoming increasingly more agitated and told her I was going to take a walk around the store while this was all figured out. When I came back about 10 minutes later, she simply handed my usb stick back to me and said their printer wasn't working and there was nothing she could do. No alternative suggestions or other options, or even an invitation to come back later, just a simple, 'sorry, bye'. I wonder what it's like to have a business where you can afford to let $300 jobs just walk out the door dissatisfied. It must be nice! Eventually, I did end up at another Staples (after I had an even more horrific experience at the Kinko's in Harvard Square) and if you want excellent customer service, I suggest going to the location on Soldier's Field Road in Brighton. They gave me what I needed in under 5 minutes. I'll never go to any other Staples again. read more

Is there a way to give negative stars? Lack of customer service is bad, but hostility to customers is incomprehensible! I've been there twice in two weeks simply trying to buy a computer desk. The salesperson in "furniture" was rude and unhelpful during my first visit, and behaved as if people trying to make a purchase in his department were an imposition. Unfortunately, the same bizarre salesperson was there today, and was openly hostile when questioned about multiple prices on an item. It was disturbing. I will never go there again. read more

Thoroughly awful experience--every time I go. And every time I go, I swear I'm never coming back. Okay, this time, I really mean it. Salespeople huddle around cash register or copy machines in the back, chatting and goofing off, while ignoring all of the customers looking for assistance. Several times, I have seen people form a queue (literally) in order to speak with the one or two older workers who may actually be helpful. Yet, even they act harassed when asked any questions. Never once has anyone ever checked to see if I need any help. The staff here consistently have bad--very bad--attitude. Stay away. read more

Here is why I will never buy paper from ANY Staples ANYWHERE ever again. Phony, jacked up prices with "easy mail-in rebates". I want stores to make my life easier, not create work for me. $8.00(oh excuse me $7.99) for a ream of paper is too much and $5.00 for my time and effort to fill out an "easy rebate" is too little. I had to make a single copy and send a fax, and this was a convenient location. The staff in the copy/print center were uninterested in helping me, just vaguely pointed to where I should go, and when I later commented that the quality of the fax was poor (I had to send a copy of a legal document and was concerned that the recipient would not accept it), they basically told me "well, that's how it is." The whole thing cost about $2 but I wouldn't go here and put my money into this business again. read more

Some if the most untrained employees and a manager that lied to me. Bought a couple of Kindles and was told by the manager that I needed to buy wall chargers for each of them. After I stated that it was odd that they didn't include them, he reassured me that they only come with usb chargers. I have been to this particular branch twice in the last month, for computer related monitors and cables, and a shredder. The service was outstanding all because Courtney was so good at his job! This guy deserves recognition. He exhibited helpfulness, patience, and went beyond what he needed to do to make sure I was all set before I left. While helping me, he was situationally aware, not ignoring eye contact with other shoppers as many salespeople do when they are enmeshed with something, which I really appreciated. I was glad he felt he could multi task, which he did well. The pricing at Staples was also completely competitive, and I got great deals! read more

I never had a good experience ANY time I went in that store. Today I had to get a copy and fax something important. I walked in no one was in line . I ask for help . someone just points to the fax machine and says dial 1. 3 people working doing nothing and did not help me. I so hate this store. Tech Support Review: Brought in my son's laptop that had a broken headphone jack. They charged $69 to look at it, and told us it would need a new motherboard, which we had to order. When we went to pick up the computer, the tech guy, Derek, was very helpful and gave us some web sites to try for the part. We asked what it was going to cost to have it put in, and asked if it would make more sense to just buy a new laptop. He said, "this laptop is worth fixing. When you get the motherboard, bring it back, and we'll install it. You've already paid for that with the $69 charge." That was great to hear. It took a some searching to find a replacement motherboard -- none of the sites he suggested had it -- but we finally found a refurbished one for $115 (sparepartswarehouse.com). We returned to Staples today, and gave the laptop and motherboard to tech support guy Courtney. He said there would be another $69 charge to replace it. We argued about it, told him what Derek had told us, but he was adamant that he "had to charge us." My son is leaving for college in a few days, so we don't have time to track down Derek or take it elsewhere, so we reluctantly paid the additional $69. I am normally a nice person, but I was close to ballistic over this. The actual Tech Support part was very helpful (except that we had to locate motherboard), but the different information given about what we would be charged was not. In all, it will cost us $69 plus $115 plus $69 = $253....we could have purchased a new laptop for not much more money. Will never go back there for tech support. read more

I had a very bad experience just today, trying to find a merchandise. After an employee who said there is no such a thing at this store, I found the product I was looking for, so I went to tell him that they actually have it. Then he got very defensive, as if I'm blaming him for not being able to help. He started to say that was not what I described and started to become very loud. By this time, I had no desire to purchase that product from them. I completely agree with other reviewers about the awful service of this store and will never go back there again! read more

The Copy Center at this Staples location is the worst I have ever been to. Several times I have needed to run off some very fast copies and each time, I have had a wait time of over 30 minutes. I have realized that this is not the best location for fast service, but today I had no choice to go there as it is the closest print shop to me. I sent them an email at 1pm to have 4 color copies made - at 3:30pm they had still not done it and claimed they were very busy and would "try to fit it in" before 6pm. I understand sometimes there are high-volume jobs in queue, however, a job that takes less than 5 minutes to do should not need "trying" to fit in. Time and time again, the service at this Copy Center has been extremely poor. I won't get into the past disapointments I've had here, but there have been more than one. They are very understaffed at all times - there are usually 1 or 2 employees to deal with floods of customers at any given time. Awful. Don't waste your time in this copy center. read more

Customer Service seems to be a foreign concept at this store. After waiting for five minutes in the self-serve area, during which only one of the three employees managed to say "I'll be with you in a minute', I asked if there was a better paper cutter available than the cheap rip-not-cut one left out. I was told there was not another one available -- which of course made me wonder how in hell they actually do their jobs-. I asked if they had a better one behind the counter, and if I could pay them to use that. That woman "helping" me seemed surprised that that might be an option, and wasn't sure whether my 11x17 copies could be cut to a more manageable size. She then informed me that each cut would be $2.00. I had twenty pages of music I needed to trim and with each page needing to be cut length and width wise, I was looking at a total cost of $40.00 -- which seems like it might fit the definition of usury. Considering I had also copied the stuff there the day before - I found it amazing they were telling me this. I used to work in a library, and know that it would have taken approximately 1 minute to cut my pages -- and my non-NASA intelligence told me that no one should be able to look you in the eye and tell you it would cost that amount of money. Really Staples?? Later that day I went to get a remote car starter and the people there let me use their paper cutter for - wait for it - FREE. Maybe I'll start using them for my copying as well. read more
