A great neighborhood spot that has delicious and unique appetizers, entrees and cocktails. Did I forget dessert? Covid guidelines have been an obstacle that servers have been trying their best to incorporate while still giving very attentive service. We've sat outdoors a few times as well as at the bar recently. Judy is the best to us and we look forward to returning again to soon. Jim and Steve, Dover read more

This place is very chic cozy, and the food and cocktails are amazing. Really unique dishesThe bartender who served us was so friendly--all the staff was very welcoming. read more

This place has amazing food and service. I have gone twice prior to the covid impact and was impressed both times. The menu has a great selection of options from both sea and land, and everything is the perfect portion size. The homemade pasta is especially wonderful, and their desserts always hit the spot! The cocktail menu has a lot of interesting options, not just the usual Paloma and old fashioned, but pretty unique concoctions in my opinion. Their limited take out menu since the pandemic has started is wonderful and really reasonably priced. I would recommend putting your order in earlier in the week because they seem to sell out quickly ( a good thing!) The restaurant is small but very well appointed, definitely make a reservation if you want to ensure yourself a table. I can't recommend this place highly enough! read more

First time visit. We made a reservation for a window table a week ahead of our anniversary. We arrived on time to be greeted by a somewhat bewildered (perhaps inexperienced for this level of restaurant) hostess. She found our reservation after a moment of not seeing it, but then said that another party had been seated in the window seat, which is right next to the hostess stand. Before we could say that we were ok sitting elsewhere, she actually approached the couple about moving. They were already into drinks. We were sort of mortified, thinking that the couple must think we were jerks. After insisting that it was ok, we were seated at another table, which was fine. I'm not sure what would have happened if another table wasn't available. The online reservation system asks if there is a special occasion...if the restaurant can control this option, they should do so and turn it off, as no acknowledgement was ever made about our special occasion. No biggie, just don't ask if you have no plan to follow through. Now the good news...our server Sarah was awesome. Attentive, timely, professional. And, the food was really great. Serving was well timed and everything was interesting without being pretentious. Noise level was normal for a small place I would say. We will be back for sure, but the prices and service are a bit out of sync here. Being let down at the door was saved by the food and server. read more

Food was good not great. Maybe it was an off night. If only based on food I would try again based on other reviews. Our server was unfriendly, rude, and seemly put out by us being there. Simple courtesy wasnt even there. Likely for this reason will not go back for a while. Going out to dinner during Covid is a special event, at least for us, no need to waiste it on the chance of getting this waiter again. Routing for them to improve. read more

This place is amazing! Perfect amount of menu items and drink selection. The service is quick and friendly. The food is fantastic! We shared the yogurt dip with pita chips, Devine! We ordered the Vietnamese noodles and ribs and both were fantastic! We will definitely be back! read more

Such a great place! The cocktails were excellent, and we were so thrilled that our server/also the bartender was so willing to share how she made them! The food was also top notch. We will definitely be back! read more

We've come a couple of times and the food is always amazing. The menu changes every season so there's always something new and delicious to try. Most recently we sat outside which has heat lamps and is super comfortable read more

Stalk - Salmon - New American Near Me - Dover, New Hampshire

Dovers newest restaurant is quite a hit. We went on a Saturday night for dinner. The space is a bit small but they did amazing work with the space they have. The ambiance is very nice, a lot of string lights and farm yard decor (stylish and tasteful, not tacky). Seating is limited, but oh so worth the wait. We ordered craft cocktails while we waited, and they were phenomenal and unique. If you like the drinks at Sonny's, you will love the drinks here. The bartenders, the wait staff and the host were all very friendly, professional and helpful throughout the entire experience. Our food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Local mushroom, with creamed kale, thrice baked potatoes and tomatoes. My girlfriend got the braised short ribs with jasmine fried rice, house kimchee and spinach. To top off the night we got the coconut caramel creme. It was a very light and refreshing dessert that topped off a fantastic evening read more

Absolutely excellent. Creative, well-executed, unpretentious food, good service, nice vibe. Looking forward to returning. My only quibble is the length of time between ordering and getting the food, but I think one expects this to a certain extent at an earnest farm-to-table style place. read more

Really nice, upscale space with a great menu. We had the beef tartare and it was good (needed salt and bartender never brought it). This could have been a really good experience but service was slow and inefficient. We left after the appetizer because servers/bartenders never asked us if we anything more. read more

On a very busy Wednesday, our waitstaff still managed to be very attentive. We split the steamed buns - very nice! Each of our entrees were perfect! The steak tips were a nice size, cooked as requested, all in all just great. read more

With the colder weather and darker days, this place just hugs you. Had the coziest seat in front of the foggy windows. The meatballs are AMAZING, I wanted to lick the plate clean. Had a squash habanero margarita.... cannot describe how mind blown I was with the flavors. 15/10 experience. Make a reservation, this place was packed for a reason. read more

Amazing food and atmosphere, the passion fruit mojito was delicious and our server Michael was incredible!

The cocktails were beautiful. The food was SOO good. Service was spectacular. We sat at the window and it was perfect. Couldn't recommend this place enough. read more

We were given a gift certificate as a Christmas gift and this evening enjoyed a fantastic meal. The service was impeccable as were explanations of the meal preparations. The food was fresh and local where possible. While it may seem on the pricey side, it is worth every cent. The atmosphere may be loud at times and Stalk want to consider acoustic dampening. We will absolutely dine there again. read more

I tried this place with some friends and was disappointed in the meal I had. I ordered the pan seared arctic char (as did one of my friends). I found it to be very fishy tasting and the accompanying sides, mushroom/onion combo had a very strong vinegar-like flavor. The sumac carrot was just a small smear in my plate, nothing substantial. The caesar salad was ok, but I really didn't care for the added lavender taste (which was as advertised) - just the ceasar would have been perfect. Afterward, I felt nauseous and woke up the next day with my stomach feeling "off." I contacted my friend who also had the char and he felt sick the next day as well. My guess is that the fish had potentially turned, I can't be sure. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quaint but it's small and very loud. The menu is quite pretentious with odd herbs added to everything, including the water which had a stale herb taste to it - there was some sort of dried herb in the bottle I noticed later. To be fair, my other friends who ordered the chicken and the pappardelle were very happy with their meals. I wouldn't go back. read more

Bartender has got skills and the duck was excellent. Please, instead of going to Sonny's (as they cannot even make a Manhattan), go to Stalk! It is amateur night every night at Sonny's. Go to Stalk, trust me! read more

We cannot say enough about this restaurant. Every meal, every bite, is special. We lived just south, in "foodytown" Portsmouth for 20 years, and dined most everywhere. Nothing came close to the consistent quality of Stalk. read more

I cannot rave enough about Stalk. I was so sad Dos Amigos closed, but honestly, the fact they could put such an amazing restaurant in such a tiny space is amazing. I'm 23 and I had asked for my birthday dinner there during Covid because they are so great. The staff is super friendly, the interior is beautiful, and everything is socially distanced, with rich and flavorful meals to boot. Definitely a favorite haunt of mine. read more

We had a wonderful dining experience here. We were able to sit inside a restaurant for the first time in months and enjoyed everything thoroughly. Great wine and cider, fantastic food. Atmosphere is romantic, service was on point. read more

When Dos Amigos closed and Stalk started remodeling and posted a potential menu, I thought, these folks don't understand Dover. After visiting and speaking to others I now realize Dover is changing and the folks at Stalk have their finger on the pulse. Menu is short, dining room is small but it allows them to focus and do thing right. I'd rather give 4.5 stars with minor deductions for ambiance, service. Neither of which were bad, just not 5 star. Meals were executed wonderfully, plated nicely with wonderful distinct flavors. If I could change one thing, it would be the label "Korean Pork Chop". The item they serve is delicious and moist and while I well know that all chops can be bone-in or boneless, when a menu doesn't say boneless, I assume bone-in. Yes, I have a mouth and could have simply asked. Typically Korean Pork Chops are made with bone-in, but it would take much longer or require soups vide in advance. I all cooking, there is rarely an always. I applaud Stalk. While Stages is my number one in the Seacoast, it's not a place for regular dining. Stalk is better than Chapel and Main and different from all the rest. In response to John's feedback: Thank you for responding. I always appreciate seeing business respond to their reviews good or bad. Service was more around lack of knowledge around menu ingredients and that will come from experience. Ambiance is tough. It's a small space, as you're aware. It seems a little cold. I question all the articles on the wall in small frames. They are too far away and small for anyone to actually read. As stated, all in all, great job. There's plenty of time for improvement. I wish you all the best. read more

Everything was absolutely phenomenal here. The drinks were top notch (especially the mojitos). I had the half chicken breast with pesto, it was tender and couldn't have been cooked better. For dessert, we had the golden beet cake. Despite the sounds of it, it was AMAZING. Service was great too! Highly recommend read more

Wonderful food. Awesome service. Cool space and great location. Two changes would be great - your two single stall restrooms could be all gender and both should have a diaper changing station (especially while they are gender specific). Dads change diapers, too :) read more

Stalk exceeded my already high expectations, wow! Absolutely delicious! Definitely my favorite restaurant in Dover, really tasty and fresh. Great outside seating and service. We look forward to visiting again. read more

Incredible find. Great vibe and even better food. Very creative menu with surprising flavor combinations. Everything we had was delicious including craft cocktails and wine. Staff genuine, warm and welcoming. read more

We stopped in here just for drinks, and stayed for dinner because everything looked so good and the vibe was awesome. I don't think I'd want to sit outside on that busy street with the Jersey barriers, but I can appreciate that some people are still afraid of being indoors. We sat at the bar, which was lovely, and had the best time. The staff was so nice and the food was super amazing! Cheers to Stalk and we will certainly be back! read more

This is an amazing new restaurant in downtown Dover that truly delights the palate and senses. From the moment you step inside you know you are in for a treat. Each dish is expertly prepared with layers of flavor and beautifully presented. I highly recommend the curried squash bisque and roasted Brussels sprouts, both are totally addictive. They have an excellent variety of appetizers and entrees, including crispy schnitzel, seared salmon and roasted cod. The desserts are delicious and homemade, including a decadent flourless chocolate cake with a kick and a meyer lemon tart with handmade mini meringues. They go perfectly with their excellent French pressed coffee, or assorted teas. They also have a full bar and signature cocktails. I highly recommend Stalk for your next dining experience, you won't be disappointed. read more

We have been twice since the reopening and are reserved for next week! That is the evidence that this gem is doing everything right and working hard at all of the elements, food, flavors portions, service, ambiance.. This restaurant gave me one of the best meals I've ever had in any NH restaurant, ever. I don't know why it feels so hard to find a really good meal around, even in Portsmouth I am so often underwhelmed. But this place, we ordered two starters both had entrees and then one of the most unique and delicious desserts I've ever had. Place was a huge win all around, great staff and we sat outside on a chilly evening but the heat lamps were great. I almost don't want to post a review so the place doesn't get overrun but a restaurant that really knows what it's doing deserves the praise. I don't ever post reviews but I just felt so strongly about praising this place because it was THAT good. I'll be a regular from now on. read more

Stalk never disappoints! Loved going to the restaurant before the pandemic but then they modified and created a great outdoor seating area! Not to mention they do an incredible job with take out! Don't hesitate to order their cornmeal crusted fish with a Johnnycake or their Asian short ribs. AMAZING!! Great job Stalk read more
