Knowing my love for the aforementioned patios, plants, and vibes, a friend took me to Stable to grab some breakfast and get some work done. This spot is right up my alley--I honestly could've sat there all day, ordering multiple rounds of coffee and toast and testing out different corners of the coffee shop and patio. This cafe has some nice breakfast-y options--mostly things on good, crusty bread. I ordered a cup of coffee and an avocado toast. Now, there are lots of ways you can avo toast--you can smash it or mash it, slice it. top it with lemon...don't even get me started on salts. Stable slices their avocado and tops that with a hard boiled egg--while I'd personally prefer a soft boiled egg and mashed avocado, this was pretty bomb. We ate out on the patio, which was a total dream. There was even a little wood burning stove in the back surrounded by the prettiest plants--not sure what they use it for, but it was gorgeous. The servers here are a hoot and were so kind. They have a few beer and wine options if you want to sit and stay awhile, plus a dessert or two to satisfy your sweet tooth. It's all about the patio here which is a beautiful oasis of tranquility and style in this random location in the industrial part of the Mission. Whoever designed this place put a lot of thought into the details of the patio and cafe which is located in an old carriage house. I go for their Avocado Toast, nutella toast, or any of their paninis which come with salad (asparagus/goat cheese is the best). . It's just a cool place to go with a hip, tech professional vibe that's not pretentious. read more

I have been trying to go to this cafe for such a long time. They close early at four. I came the other day right at 3:40 and sat down in their beautiful outdoor space. I didn't get to try their food, which is sad since it all looked delicious as it was being served up at other tables. As I was sitting down chilling, I would see employees come and pick fresh fruit from the trees in the patio. I am assuming they were using it for the food served at the cafe, some real farm to table stuff going on here. I am also appreciative that once the clock struck four I wasn't pushed out immediately. Everyone was able to take their time to pack up or finish their food. Definitely worth a couple of visits, even if it isn't your regular hood. read more

We recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Stable Cafe and the entire event was about as perfect as could be. Karen, the events manager from the cafe, worked as the wedding coordinator and did a wonderful job anticipating everything we'd need and handling the set up for the ceremony, break down and turn around for the dinner and coordinated the vendors (flowers, DJ, rentals, etc). The event space itself is beautiful and perfectly accommodated our 70 guests. The cafe recently hired a chef to do full catered meals and the food was EXCEPTIONAL. We had short ribs, chicken, couscous, an elote corn salad and passed appetizers. All of our guests commented on how good the food was. All in all, it was a great event and we felt very well cared for. Would highly recommend Stable Cafe for any event you're throwing! read more

This place is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I may be slightly biased because my husband and I got married here, however, this place is truly magical. First off, they're only open for breakfast and lunch. They do have a lot of events here so sometimes they may close earlier than usual. Stable has both great tasting coffee and food. The atmosphere is to die for if you're a plant lover and are looking for a slice of nature within the city. There is a cheese school and a florist in the back of the building. Their outdoor patio is spacious and dog friendly. It also has plenty of seats/tables, succulents surrounding, a plum tree, and overall good vibes. You order indoors which is pretty small, however, there are only a handful of tables downstairs and some seats upstairs. Not too many people sit indoors though because their patio is so nice. Also, if you're looking to book an event here, I highly recommend it. Mina is amazing and is very accommodating through out the process. That was the easiest part of planning our wedding which at the time we did afar. Overall, a truly wonderful place to relax and hang out or even plan a party. A cute, hidden gem! read more

If you can deal with servers who often seem stressed, definitely come here. There is a lot of outdoor seating in a gorgeous setting and some indoor seating down- and upstairs. I come here to work when my car is being serviced nearby, and have met friends here, although I live in a different part of The City. I used to find a place upstairs to camp out with my laptop using their wifi, but since the pandemic, I have been sitting outside. Good salads and coffee. Pastries are a little slim pickin's but they do have them! For me, good coffee will bring me back, and I've been back many times. read more

Such a cute place! There's plenty of seating in the outdoor area they have and it reminds me of an LA cafe aesthetic. The vanilla latte I got was pretty sweet so if I came back I'd ask for half the amount. I think food wise, I got an avocado toast which was nothing special so I'd probably skip it next time. My friend's arugula salad was pretty good, light dressing and a good mixture of sweet and savory. I have been here before and was really excited to try this place for lunch and get a bit of work done. I order at the front counter and before I order I ask if they have wifi. They do not. Okay, that's fine. So, I order my latte to-go. I walk around to peek in at the courtyard while I'm waiting for my latte. Which is open for customers to sit, mind you. I see people on their laptops working and remember that I can use my iPhone hotspot. I go back to the counter where there is nobody in line, and try to get the barista's attention to change my latte for here so I can hang out in the courtyard for a bit. I fail to get his attention, understandable because he was on the espresso machine. Anyway, he brings me my latte in a to-go cup, no big deal, right? So I start walking in towards the courtyard (that is seat-yourself, and not busy) and the barista raises his voice at me and tells me that if I wanted it here then I should have told him that. Yes, absolutely. When I tried to apologize and tell him that I tried getting his attention to change it he threw his hands up and went back into the kitchen. Hope you have a better day. read more

Kind of obsessed with this place. My new favorite patio in The Mission for sure. Super pleasant service, good coffee, a queue that moved quickly even on a busy, beautiful day, and delicious food. (04/23/17) Really cool place with awesome outdoor seating. Inside seating is pretty limited. As for the food, meh. The NONO open face sandwich was a no-no for me. Nothing special and the flavor was lacking. It wasn't appealing to the eyes especially with the provolone melted on top of the eggs making them look more pale and sad. The toast was difficult to cut thru, even adding bacon couldn't save the meal for me. My gf said the chilaquiles were okay but also felt nothing special to them. Almost $30 for both dishes and an OJ was definitely not worth it! 3 stars for the atmosphere and good service we received when placing our order. I would come back only to get coffee and sit outside on a nice sunny day. I'll stay away from the food or maybe go with something simple/cheap like the avocado toast. read more

Super fresh ingredients, the egg was cooked perfectly, and it was served with a fresh side of berries. I ate it all, very quickly! Ambiance: 5 You know when you go somewhere and you feel cool for being there? That's how I felt here. Apparently, the building was actually an old stable (hence the name) and they kept a lot of the barn feel to it, which I found as charming. They also have a patio that has extra seating if you can't find one inside, which on a nice Bay day.. is amazing. The staff is super friendly and definitely adds to that "I'm a cool kid" feeling. I was surprised when I went to get my second americano that they remembered my name, which made me feel special. Extras: 5 Though I had a difficult time connecting to the wifi, once I was on it was a strong connection, which if you've read other reviews, is important to me. Besides the good wifi, the real plus to this place is their patio! It's decorated really cute and has sunny and shaded areas for you to choose from. This is, admittedly, my second time here and will definitely come back. Be prepared for a bit of a long line, as Mommies and neighboring residents favor this place. Also... if you drive... We love eating and hanging at Stable Cafe - and we ***LOVED*** getting married there!! Wanted to echo the many other reviews celebrating this gem of a venue for a relaxed, gorgeous, natural-AND-urban-feeling space to get married. It is the perfect spot. We had such peace of mind throughout the planning our wedding knowing that we didn't need to do a thing to make it look spectacular for the event ---- it just IS. Massive thanks to Fog & Moss studio and all at Stable Cafe who keep that courtyard overflowing with beautiful plants and flowers. Walking through those gates really transports you to what feels like a secret garden in the middle of the city. Our guests and family absolutely raved about the venue. We really appreciated having multiple spaces for our (~65) guests to spend time throughout the evening; with dancing for those who wanted to *dance* in the pretty & airy room in the back, removed from the fire-side tables and courtyard for those who wanted to keep the dinner party vibes going for coffee & dessert. Early 2021 wasn't the easiest time to plan a wedding with constantly changing pandemic-related regulations and genuine safety concerns, but Stable's event manager Minah was fair, transparent, and safety-conscious; professional and wonderful to work with all the way through. Just has the best baguette for a roast beef sandwich! What a great combination that brings the flavors out. Salad is ok; refreshing dose of veggies, but a bit too oily and not flavorful enough. Also, tasty mocha too; not sweet And not really rich- just deep flavors. More of a coffee connoisseurs' mocha than a chocolate addict's mocha, if you know why I mean. Laptop camper here. The former stable for police horses turned into a coffeehouse features 2 floors, an industrial vibe, and wood everywhere including the exposed building beams. Small tables and outdoor seating are inviting and the wi-fi is free, but there isn't a power outlet to be found in the seating areas. The pastries look better than average and the eggs are "farm fresh" courtesy of a farm in Petaluma. The menu includes frittatas, granola, oatmeal, sandwiches, salads, etc. The menu is seasonal. * Breakfast sandwich $5 - eggs weren't nuked but cooked nicely with gooey cheese, folded over, with scallions, served on thin wheat toast with seeds and nuts and stuff. The bread tasted really healthy and dry. * Latte $3: one size, not bad but bitter on bottom, organic beans from De la Paz The café clearly doesn't encourage lingering. This review is for Stable Cafe as a wedding venue only. We worked with Minah who was super helpful and responsive through the entire process. She tried to be flexible where possible, allowing us to drop off some deliveries earlier than planned to avoid traffic mishaps. She answered all emails quickly. Our other vendors enjoyed working with her as well and her team was also efficient on the day of. The space is just beautiful for an intimate garden wedding, full of green trees and artfully arranged wall and floor planters. It's not exactly cheap to rent, but cheaper than what you pay at a traditional SF wedding venue. PRO TIP: If you end up using the space, I would encourage you to measure carefully in person to account for the many gorgeous planters that are not included in the venue layout map. read more

They were chatting amongst themselves behind the counter (flirting with each other? They were definitely touching each other playfully) and seemed taken ABACK when I said "Excuse me." The guy behind the counter had a response for me that was reminiscent of a popular high school cheerleader talking down to one of the nerdy kids: "Umm.... okay. Uh... yeah, sounds great..." while rolling his eyes and making obvious eye contact with the other staff member, as if to say "Can you believe I even have to talk to this guy?" Cool. This is one of the cutest little cafés in the mission. I've only been there in the daytime to work so I can't really comment on how busy it is on the weekends, but it's a great place to set up a computer get some coffee and enjoy the day while working, especially if the weather is good and you can sit in the gorgeous outdoor part. My bf likes to show me all his new finds in the Mission and one Thursday morning before heading up to Yosemite to hike Half Dome that weekend, he took me to Stable Cafe. Location: Definitely out of the way. There's basically nothing else around this area. Food: The menu is small, but the choices are mouthwatering. For $7, I got the Pomba (toast, bacon, brie, and egg in the hole). The toast is Texas toast, lightly buttered and perfectly toasted. The bacon is nicely cooked with crisp edges, but still slightly chewy. The brie was laid over the hot toast and egg, making it melt and ooze into all the crevices. The egg was cooked to perfection and nicely scrambled in the hole. Two blackberries for garnish and this dish was just everything I could want in a sinfully delicious breakfast. So filling, it kept me going 'til we had an early dinner later that day! Coffee: I got a latte with almond milk. Delicious. And cute coffee art on the top. Also bonus points for serving coffee in glass -- I'm a fan of this trend. Service: You order at the counter and they bring the food to your number wherever you decide to sit. However, you need to grab your coffee yourself. I wanted a latte with 2% milk, but they only had whole milk and nonfat. The employee suggested a mixture of the two, but I said nonfat was fine. Then she suggested almond milk. It was like she read my mind! Always a fan of almond milk. Friendly service for sure :) Ambiance: Cute place where you can have a leisurely breakfast, or grab something quick if you have 15 minutes to spare. They have a small seating area inside and a larger patio area outside adorned with a lot of cute drought-resistant plants.
