There was a line out the door, and everyone was patiently waiting, which clearly shows how popular this place is. I've been coming here for over 10 years, even before the ownership changed, so this review is disappointing for me to write. Unfortunately, this is now the second time my order has been messed up. I specifically ordered four toasted bagels, and not a single one was toasted. What makes this even more frustrating is that I live 40 minutes away and make the drive because I've always loved this place. I understand being busy, but repeatedly getting such a simple order wrong feels careless and inadequate, especially when customers are waiting so long and paying premium prices. It's very disheartening because after the last mistake, I told myself I probably wouldn't come back, yet I gave it another chance because of the loyalty I've had to this business for years. Warning: awesome cheese pull pictures ahead. Gotta shout out some love to our local @stpaulbagelry in Roseville off of Lexington. They do have another spot in MPLS off of Nicollet. They are always hopping and for good reason. Their made from scratch bagels and cream cheese are both amazing. The line moves along well so don't turn away if you see a line, just bop to the jams they're playing to pass the time. My go to is a breakfast sandwich usually: whole wheat honey bagel, egg, sausage, swiss and added their bacon chive cream cheese. Ate this sandwich slow to enjoy it longer. So good. not pictured but another love is their cinnamon sugar bagel and I add honey nut cream cheese. Great spot to grab a sandwich, a bagel or a dozen and a tub of cream cheese. I stopped by St. Paul Bagelry mid-morning on a Saturday after hearing so many good things, but unfortunately, my experience wasn't great. It wasn't super busy just two people ahead of me and I decided to try the MacGyver sandwich based on the guys in front of me suggestions. I mentioned to the person at the register that it was my first time there, but she didn't seem welcoming or interested, which was disappointing. I ordered two MacGyver sandwiches and two coffees. After waiting over 30 minutes with no update, I finally asked about my order but got no real response. When the food was eventually ready, the coffees had been forgotten entirely. The sandwiches themselves were okay... not bad, just not particularly memorable. The space is clean and has a good menu, so I can see the potential, but this visit just wasn't a great first impression. Would I return? Maybe, if someone I was with really wanted to go. For being the twin cities, we don't have much for specialty bagel shops...so it's nice to live close to one! I've had great lattes from here and I've had OK lattes...so there's some inconsistency there. I've always had great bagels though! Service is nothing special...and neither is the vibe inside so it's really more of a very normal non-aesthetic bagel shop that has good bagels! A friend tried to order me a gift card online and it never came so it was a pain to track down with the owner...so I'd stay away from their online ordering system. read more

I went to visit Saint Paul Bagelry and was pretty happy with the results. I bought a hot sandwich, a bunch of different flavored bagels, and two tubs of cream cheese. The one issue I have with this place is how expensive everything is. My total was about 45 dollars, which felt a bit steep. The sandwich alone was around 12 or 13 dollars, and the rest of the cost came from the eight bagel and two tub deal. The roast beef sandwich I had was tasty and had pickled onions and a few other toppings, but it did feel a little small for the price. The bagels I picked up included cranberry, pumpernickel, blueberry, plain, everything, garlic and herb, and a few more for my family. People enjoyed them, but I am not completely sure the quality justifies how much they charge. The cream cheese, though, was excellent. I really loved the garlic and herb cream cheese, and the strawberry flavor was my favorite. I would still recommend checking this place out, but maybe start by buying one or two bagels and a small amount of cream cheese to see if it is worth committing to the bigger package deal. read more

Still pretty much the same set up but they gave themselves some more room to work in the back. The line-up on a Saturday Sunday morning is still real. Not sure what you can do about that but order online? Go earlier? Later? No real answer. I'm about the breakfast bagel, usually the turkey sausage, egg, cheddar, spinach (if I'm lucky) and spicy sauce. Bagel of choice? I switch it up. Sometimes salt, or Asiago, dark wheat is kinda fun, pineapple was interesting. Their breakfast sandwiches they've got on the menu/board are also really good. The only thing is if you time it wrong and the place is crowded. It's kinda like the Sea Salt of bagel shops. Had a day running errands and stopped by for a late breakfast and went with a lox bagel on an everything bagel and an iced small chai tea latte. Service was very fast and the bagel was delicious as well as my chai. It was a very convenient stop and always great quality on bagels and cream cheese spreads. Went in around noon for a quick egg, cheese, and meat bagel sandwich! The line was significantly shorter than other times I have come (where the line is at the door), but of course near noon there were less options available which we understood. I got mine on cinnamon sugar and my partner got plain bagel. The bagels were soft and light, not super heavy. Feels like a hometown kind of restaurant. We went on a Sunday and I don't think there was anyone over 21 working there, but they knew what they were doing. Even with a long line, we got out in a relatively short amount of time. Unfortunately, they were out of asiago bagels, but the onion bagel with the MacGyver sandwich was still pretty good. This bagel place is a total pass for me. I am one to happily support local businesses but this place is very meh. The bagel place is in a plaza, so decent amount of parking. The location is very clean, so it keeps a star for that. Additional having online order is a plus too. I have a usual of getting a jalapeno and cheese bagel, with garlic cream cheese, and deli turkey if it is available. It was. It was not good. The bagel was bland and it is supposed to be jalapeno w/ cheese bagel. When you look at it. You see tiny pieces of jalapeno but where is the cheese. The cream cheese, I could not taste the garlic and that has a strong flavors. The only thing I tasted was the salty turkey. I was truly disappointed especially paying over 5 for the sandwich.
