Great location, decent food, and overall a fun breakfast spot to go to. When first arriving it can be a little confusing as you order at the counter and then seat yourself with a number. This isn't explicitly stated anywhere though so I can see how it can get you turned around like the other reviews state. Staff at the counter was super friendly and very open to suggestions though so that's a plus. We brought my niece here for a "birthday brunch" on here 21st and overall had a great time. The inside of the shop isn't anything to write home about but it's cute and great for the atmosphere we were looking for. More of a chill vibe where you can hang out and talk, think cute coffee shop meets diner type vibe. The food was good, not amazing, but still pretty decent. The food was to be expected, but my overall expectations based on the customer service was low quality...which is definitely important (coming from a customer visiting from out of town). Upon arrival, I was waiting by the sign that said wait here to be seated...but there was no host in sight, and after a few looks, I was told to go in line (by another customer) when I asked where I should stand while waiting to be seated. It was an unnecessary confusion for so many people waiting around. When I got to the front of the line, the lady at the cash register just said, "Oh, you don't have a number?" & rang up my order and gave me a number after that, which I was thankful for that. I was trying to simply enjoy my meal, but after getting up to use the bathroom (I had to wait a bit for that, as you need a code, which one of the workers there simply said the number out loud...which I tried to confirm was for the bathrooms? She kept walking)...my plate of food that I was finishing, was taken away and only my coffee and vitamin on the napkin I was using was left. I did not wish to cause a scene, but I did let my voice be heard, and let someone know who was working within eye sight behind the counter area that a portion of my food had been taken away and let her know that I had just tipped as well (while walking towards the bathrooms). I even let her know this was my one meal a day and obviously I wasn't happy about that (I probably had a good half of a plate left over, that I would have gladly taken back to my suite to finish up eating later!). She simply asked my table number, but didn't actually DO anything about it...if I was serving at the restaurant, I would have at least given a side of hash browns or maybe even a refund was called for. But nothing...I quickly left, shaking my head at the lack of basic customer service etiquette, empathy, & awareness. Based on my experience, I will not be returning. read more

I was staying downtown for a weekend and had to go to this place both mornings I was in the area. It is THAT good! It's a cute restaurant on the corner with lots of windows that provide natural light. We were seated and given menus to order at the counter. The food came out quickly and was very delicious. I've tried almost all the breakfast items and there isn't a bad thing on the menu, but the biscuits and gravy are the thing of dreams. The gravy is the perfect amount of meat to sauce ratio with layered flavors. We like the counter service. It's close to the farmer's market so it's fun to grab a bite then shop the local products. I always like to get my staples when the cravings hit. I was in luck to see one of my favorite soft scrambles was the soft scramble of the day and that the cinnamon rolls were half off. I also like to try a new dessert and today I tried the blueberry pie. It was amazing, especially if you like that sort of thing. I particularly liked the crust and the topping. I was in desperate need of custom cakes for my kiddo's graduation party, and the Buttered Tin more than delivered. I sent them a photo of the napkins (which featured the theme and colors), told them about their guitar playing, chose the flavors (chocolate/salted caramel for one; strawberries and cream for the other), and trusted the rest to them. The results were better than I could have hoped for, and reasonably priced. I sent my sister-in-law to pick them up right before the party. The closest parking she could find was about two blocks away, so a staff member walked her to her car, carrying the other cake, and made sure they were safely settled before she drove away. I didn't know there wasn't any carbs and the walleye was essentially the bread of the Benedict but I didn't mind because it was very meaty. It was well seasoned and I loved eating it with the arugula and pickled peppers. Eggs were perfectly cooked but the potatoes were overcooked and soggy with a little too much oil. You see what we ordered and the food was good. Not really loud in there. Service was good. There was a heart in top of my Mocha. Eggs tasted a little different than what I'm used to. This is a cute cafe-style restaurant in Lowertown. My wife and I stopped in after checking out the European Christmas market. Service was not particularly timely - as there was one worker servicing the coffee, tea, juice, and alcoholic beverage stations as well as taking orders at the register. Once we placed our order and were seated, the food was delivered reasonably quickly. We were here during peak lunch rush, so that was a contributing factor. I got the "walleye cake bennie" which was two poached eggs served on two walleye cakes, with hollandaise, some pickled peppers, arugula salad, and some roasted potatoes. Taste was great. I personally would have preferred if the Benedict also included the traditional English muffin, but I did leave full. I personally would have also preferred 200% more pickled peppers, as I only had 1 or 2 and they were delicious. The other food options on the menu looked great as well, so for me there is great return-ability. I also had the Ruby Rose Spritz, made with a Rosé Vermouth and Prosecco. Got myself the egg Benedict because extra like à la cart deal. The walk up to order counter was a bit slow as it seems they were short staffed, and everyone was busy. The place was nice and table well organized. Just a little bit surprised about the menu and everything is like an à la cart if you need to add on something else because the breakfast platter isn't complete.
