Place was beautiful and scenery. Service was not an issue either. Food nothing like menu every item interest in did not have or had to change ingredients. Said changing two ingredients but was more than that. Maybe really not ready to hand out new menu. read more

My husband and I came here during the ice wine festival. There was a door holder who greeted us as we came into the winery. We entered and waited in line for our samples. I will say the flow of the event could have been a little better but the employees were nice and informative when it came to their products. We were granted additional samples outside of their ice wine selected for the event, so I tried the Reisling and my husband tried the same ice wine, just a different year. The employee discussed with us why the wines taste different (sweeter or less sweet) from year to year. They had a special going on - purchase 2 bottles of ice wine for $35. We ended up getting the ones we tried. There were several long tables set up throughout the building providing a decent amount of seating, however the place was so packed! We were able to claim an table for 4 for ourselves to enjoy our ice wine and food pairing. They had their wines listed on a light up board behind the bar, reds on one side and whites on the other. They broke them down from dry to sweet based on RS which was helpful when sampling. Overall this winery was a unique stop on the wine trail. read more

Great Visit for our first time here We came here in November but they were closed for the season. This place was on our list to try out. We stopped here and when you walk in it has an old smell to the place. The lady that waits for you supplies you a lot of great information about the grape. She did explain that 2014 and 2015 was a bad year for the grapes. This includes their Chardonnay, Cab and Cab Franc grapes. My wife tried the Chardonnay and she said it was awful. Remember that's not their grape. The tastings were free samples as well. I loved the Noiret Reserve. It was $30 per bottle. A little pricey for a winery. But worth it. I had been to some other wineries in the area a few months ago for lunch and had a great time. So while I was back in that area again, I was interested in visiting this winery and I called to see if they were open and if they served lunch. The man who answered the phone literally said "Are you kidding me?" and I was very confused and he proceed to say, "you know we're a winery, right?" Um, how about a simple, "no we don't have food here." Instead of being so unprofessional and rude. Perhaps try taking a more friendly approach if you want people to visit your establishment. What a total turn off. With so many other amazing wineries in the area....that's a HARD PASS. read more

Saint Joseph winery has been purchased by and is under construction. As of December 2021 they are still open for wines to go. The winery has been renamed Baci at Saint Joseph. There will be a new interior, new kitchen and other updates as well. I am told they will continue to make the same wines with some possible additional varietals. This is terrific news, because Saint Joseph has always produced a large number of varietals with consistently high quality. The addition of a kitchen, an interior update, additional outdoor seating that takes advantage of the terrific views, and entertainment will make Baci one of the premier destinations in the region. It doesn't hurt that the owners and manager are really nice people. read more

If I could give this place -0 stars I would. The WORST customer service I have ever experienced. RUDE RUDE RUDE. We walked in and we were all verbally attacked by the man behind the counter. The wine was very good. But, we had our tastings and left. As we left, we let the owner know how rude he was. He was sitting nearby and came out to our shuttle van and made some very rude remarks to our 81 year old mother. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! We heard at another winery that they had heard complaints all day. We will NEVER be back. read more

I will never return this winery again. With over 250 wineries in the area, spend your time and money in the better managed and kept ones. This place is nothing special to look at and is very poorly run. While they may have decent wines, the owners are unwelcoming and the male owner is absolutely rude. Treated our group with terrible disrespect (even my 81 year old mother). When we went to speak to someone about it, he became beligerent and threatening. Classic "we focus on the wine" winery. Their 2012 Pinot Noir is excellent. The winery tasting room is simple and plain, featuring tables and a modest tasting bar. They post the wines they are selling in chalk boards behind the bar. As a regular California wine drinker - I belong to four Dry Creek winery wine clubs - I judged this winery is one of the better Ohio wineries. read more

Terrible experience. From the moment our group walked in the door, we had horrible service. The man working behind the bar was rolling his eyes when we asked questions about the wines, he talked to our group like we were children, and just had horrible customer service. The place was empty when we got there so you'd think they'd be happy to see customers. Well now i know why nobody was there. We sat outside in the unkept patio, drank our one glass of wine we bought and when returning our glasses, spoke to the woman behind the counter to let her know about the service we experienced. She laughed at us and said "well he's been working in the field all day" instead of apologizing. He must have overheard us because the man followed us to our vehicle and took pictures of us while we were leaving. What a terrible experience, we will never be back. read more

Uh, I was surprised to see this place only has 2 reviews. (Well, now 3) And was even more surprised to see that they reviews are so different. A one star and a 5 star. Interesting. I can see the side of both reviews and even more funny, I'm stuck right in the middle at 3 stars. I like how the first reviewer put it, "this is a classic, we focus on the wines type of winery" So true and that's one of the things I love about a lot of Ohio wineries. I would MUCH rather hang out here all day long than spend an hour in a place like Laurentia, which appears to be pretentious with no focus on the wine. But I can also see the point of the view of the second reviewer. The owners do appear to be very stand offish and unwelcoming. When I asked the owner if this place used to be a church (due to the name and decor) she simply said, "No." Very flat. That would have been a good oppurtunity to tell us a little bit about the history and how they came about the name and the choice of decor. But we got none of that. On to the wines. I am a dry white drinker, hubby is a red kind of guy and my mom is a sweet drinker. They had something for all of us to enjoy. Very nice wines and the prices were reasonable. read more

The wine, especially the dry red wine, was good if not overpriced. The owner is a jerk.My sister and I went out on the porch to sit in the sunshine and she tried to open up the umbrella set up for shade. The owner yelled at her from the inside and then came out to chastise her for daring to open it, telling her that it was broken and that it was not opened "for a good reason". We went inside to finish our wine and not 10 minutes later, a couple, who obviously knew the owner, went out to our seats and he very courteously opened up the umbrella for them. Before we left, we let the owner's wife know that her husband was a complete jerk and she apologized. If he thinks that I am wrong, I invite him to talk to me face-to-face at a time of his choosing. We tried 9 wines: 1 white and 8 red. As far as Ohio wines are concerned, most of the ones we tasted were decent. The owner; however, was condescending, rude, and even childish. He ridiculed us while we were tasting, though he did it thinking we didn't notice. The other Ohio wineries we visited featured wines of comparable quality, though the proprietors at the other locations in Harpersfield, were much more genuine and hospitable. Needless to say, we won't be returning to visit St. Joseph's, nor will we be purchasing their wines. read more

Our experience with the male owners rudeness was very upsetting! Especially since the red wine there is my very favorite. I was only trying to be helpful by putting the umbrella up by myself and not bothering the nice lady behind the counter. To have that guy come running out of the sales room shouting at me was unreal. Sort of decent wine but the staff didn't make a good impression at all. Both people I spoke to were stand-offish and they all seemed more concerned with each other than the customers. Also, a gentleman and his wife came to the bar while I was looking at the wine list and asked if they could have their bottle re-corked. The man behind the bar just smacked the cork (that the couple had already managed to get in a little bit themselves) with his palm once and said there you go. The couple kinda nervously laughed it off, saying they could have done that. And the guy, with no humor, says 'yeah you could have'. Rude. The tasting room was nice, but stuffy. There were no more than a dozen people in the large room and not quite 80 degrees out, so definitely not a place to go when it's even warmer. With the number of very good wineries in the area, this one is easily put on the "skip it" list. read more
