My husband and I stopped in here the last weekend of October and loved all of the wines we tasted. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wines they make here- they reminded us of some of the wineries we visited last year in Napa. We tried around 10 or so wines and bought 2 bottles of the Blanc de Noir, a bottle of the Rkatsiteli, and a bottle of the Saperavi to take home. I would have loved to stay and enjoy a glass of sparking wine, but it stayed continently busy, so we decided to move along to the next winery on our list. While in the Geneva area there are a few wineries that are a "must" to visit. I've visited this vicinity for several years. The first couple years visiting was spent sorting out which venues I liked and which were not what I preferred. Alas, I passed on M Cellars several times, till one rainy day. The atmosphere was unique to this place. Many places try to copy wineries from the west. Not the case here. The servers were polite and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable. Great find as driving through OH wine country on the way back to Central PA. We only had time for one winery and very glad that this is the one we selected. Chris was an incredible guide through the many wine options they have available, right down to running out to pick grapes as we tasted to show their level of ripeness and how that affects the residual sugar of the wines. We were blown away by the quality if the reds! Totally unexpected for this region, but illustrates that it's possible to produce fine reds in this climate with the right agricultural prowess and wine making skills. In my opinion, the Rkatsiteli (R-Cat) is the best followed up by the Red and Gruner Veltliner. The atmosphere is perfect. Unlike some places, M Cellars was built as a winery and is surrounded by wine vines everywhere. Yes, I just said wine vines. Ask about the library wine list if you are looking for something special. My friends and I decided to take a little day trip to Geneva and this was our favorite winery on our whole trip! The workers were so sweet... as soon as we walked in they helped us pick a wine we would like and showed us around. We ordered a bottle of their riesling - which was very delicious...not too sweet and not too dry. It was perfectly refreshing on this hot day. We decided to pair a meat and cheese board with our bottle because you can never go wrong with that. It was a very simple board with a lot of different options to pick from - the fig jam was yummy! We sat outside and it was a beautiful view!! The wind was blowing and the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. I would love to come back and try more wines/food on their menu and stay even longer...it really was a beautiful afternoon here! read more

The service was awful. Went to have a good time and celebrate my future daughter in law getting married. Prior to our arrival with 12 guests', we were required to purchase 5 bottles of wine, and the asked to be on our best behavior while we were there. One of our folks unfortunately got car sick and threw up in the parking lot. He could have waited and went into the restroom but did not! After we all purchased our drinks and went to sit around the tables talking and enjoying each other's company, within 10 minutes they asked us to leave due to him having the unfortunate incident in the parking lot! I thought it was very rude of them and unprofessional of them! We visit this area very frequently but would always stop there - well you can sadly say this was the last time for all 12 of us and our surrounding friends that will stop at this establishment! Went across the street to South River and what a wonderful, lovely establishment that was! The wine and staff were wonderful! Would highly recommend that over M Cellars! read more

We haven't been here for a long time, and it appears nothing has changed. There is inside as well as outside seating and the outside has nice views. I had a glass of the Pinot Noir and it was OK, just nothing special. We are traveling and can't take bottles with us, but I would have bought a bottle as it's a good solid wine. read more

Went here today and this place is a GEM! Lauren was the best, she helped us pick our wines and had tips and tricks to go along with the wines we chose. We started inside the tasting area, but moved out to the patio (she even came out to the patio for more samplings for us!). The patio is gorgeous! It is right on the vineyard so it was absolutely stunning. There were plenty of tables with umbrellas, but if you wanted it more sunny, they had picnic tables right next to the vineyard. It is dog friendly too, so we got to see some cute pups as well! We didn't try the food, but would definitely stop back in for that! We left our trip with a bottle of Noiret that was my favorite and I can't wait to have with some homemade pizza or noodles! read more

The place deserves about 4.5 stars but five is fine. It's not quite in the top tier in terms of their wine or their atmosphere... but there is nothing wrong with either. Don't get me wrong the wine was very good and is probably the best deal we have seen for this level of wine. We bought several bottles and enjoyed the one we opened there. Nice helpful staff. Beautiful winery with unique, cozy, and plentiful seating inside and out. The area is full of charm, including the nearby farms, winery, cidery, and distillery. After taking a tour, it was clear that the team there has invested in their wine making in every sense of the word. Their menu reflects this refinery both in experience and price. I was a little taken aback by the prices for a rural winery in Ohio but as long as the product can be backed up by the craft I'm ok with it, especially for a first time visit. Overall this was a wonderful place to enjoy a lovely glass of (sparkling, dry) wine and enjoy the rolling hills covered in grape vineyards. We visited during winter and enjoyed the crackling fireplace in the main room. This was the first winery I visited in Geneva, and it turned out to be in my top two. We visited during the late afternoon/early evening and there was plenty of seating available and some great live music playing. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and asked about what type of wines we like/what we were looking for. The person at the front was patient (wine newbies here) and after trying 2 wines, we selected the Amelia. I really regret not buying a bottle as the price was good and the quality was even better. So take it from me-- if you like your wine, buy a bottle to take home! If you don't you'll surely regret it. M cellars also had some of the best customer service I experienced in the area. I understand that a lot of the people visiting are experienced drinkers who know what they like and can order off a listing. As a wine newbie, I didn't want to hold up the line/be a nuisance so I'm not super inclined to get the staff to walk me through various options. However, I was immediately asked questions about what we liked and walked through the offerings which I really appreciated. A lot of the other wineries didn't verbally walk us through the offerings, so I really appreciated it. read more

We stopped in for a tasting last week and this had to be one of my favorite wineries. The wines are consistently good. I brought home a bottle of Noiret. The grapes were developed by Cornell students and it makes red wine that you can guzzle. It's actually dangerous! Their white R-Kat wine is also delicious. read more

We walked in after having a terrible experience down the road and had a delightful and knowledgeable young man greet us at the counter - I don't remember his name but we were there Saturday 3/25. The 4 of us all had different preferences for type of wine, and he was able to find each of us the "perfect" wine on the first try which resulted in 4 full glasses purchased and a bottle. Chris was a wonderful host! Exceedingly knowledgeable about the wines and made helpful suggestions based on what types of wines we usually liked. The tasting sizes are huge compared to the 1 oz ones at other wineries in the area. My personal favorite was the R-Kat (Rkatsiteli) which, according to a quick google search, is an ancient pale-skinned grape variety from the Republic of Georgia, the oldest wine-producing region on earth. Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with friends at this winery. The live guitar playing provided a wonderful backdrop as we sipped a lovely chardonnay. We were greeted warmly when we walked into the tasting room and there seemed to be lots of staff walking around to care for the groups of people who came in. We did a tasting and picked out our selections and moved to the patio. We pulled over a few chairs to lounge right on the edge of the patio and have a great view of the vines. A few small birds flew about and landed on the vines which was fun to watch. The live music was an excellent accompaniment to the pleasant sips of wine. Some of the best wines in the region. Their amphora winds (aged in clay) are always fabulous. I have been a big fan of their Chardonnay, riesling, and just about any of the Reds. Very nice setting with three different seating areas. The staff here is outstanding. They know their wines, they drink their wines, and understand how they were made. They are also really nice people. If you are looking for a winery for dinner or entertainment with dancing this will not be the place for you. They do not have a kitchen and, when there is entertainment, it is usually background music. read more
