Grand River Cellars has one of the most beautiful wineries in Geneva. Sitting on the patio, you almost forget you're in Ohio--it feels like you've stumbled into a hidden spot in the California woods. The trees, the quiet, the fresh air--it's incredibly peaceful and picturesque. We didn't do a wine tasting, but my friends split a bottle of the Pinot, and they couldn't stop raving about it--perfectly dry and smooth. What truly set the vibe was the live music. A ukulele player played softly in the background with the most beautiful voice and playlist. It set the vibe for the evening. Now for the letdown: the food. We were surprised to be served appetizers on paper plates and water in paper cups. It felt like a mismatch for the otherwise elegant, scenic winery atmosphere. We ordered the hummus and veggie platter and were served Club crackers (literally from Walmart) alongside it. When we asked for more, we were charged extra--which felt a bit tacky, especially considering the quality. I ordered the pulled BBQ chicken sandwich for dinner, and unfortunately, it was a miss. The bun tasted like a basic Schwebel's sandwich bun, not toasted, and the chicken was dry and sparse. My friend got the salmon and had a similar experience--overcooked and disappointing for the price. Overall, go for the view, the wine, and the music--but don't come hungry or expect a gourmet food experience.

We enjoyed a glass of wine prior to a brush art event. They have great extras like this .... watch their website. In addition to the great wine we ordered some appetizers. Enjoyed the pretzel sticks, spinach artichoke dip and blue chips and bacon. Very attentive server. She also took care of us in the art room. The venue is very pleasing. Inside and outside seating. Beautiful drive in with grape vines on both sides.

Beautiful winery with lovely indoor and outdoor seating. This is one of the few wineries in the area that offers food with table service. Their burgers and the local sausage were pretty good, and their wines are very nice. We purchased their Chardonnay to take home.

One of the wineries in wine country. They are usually on one of the many trails. I have been here a few times, and honestly, in the beginning, I didn't care for it, but it grew on me, and my experiences got better every time. Their food is very good and they have a large selection of wines. There is an outside patio, very pretty in the fall. Unlike many other wineries, you wait to be seated, and some will wait on you. I think this one of the reasons they stand out. There is plenty of parking. I definitely recommend checking them out.

This property is beautiful! We stopped at GRC as part of the Ice Wine festival and I really loved the cozy vibes. Everyone was friendly and I enjoyed the ice wine samples and the food was average. I'd like to come back and try their full menu, but I'd definitely return!

All 4 of us were served $23 steak dinners on plastic plates. I asked for gravy on my mashed potatoes and got none, no bread rolls served with dinner either. Just a steak with dry mashed potatoes and they put grated cheese on top. Who asked for cheese on my mashed potatoes? Not me. Unbelievable. You'd think that they would invest in a set of normal plates with the prices they charge. The only thing I enjoyed was the maple wine.

Haven't been here for years, but it is a nice stop. We stopped for lunch on a Tuesday and there weren't many people, which was a plus for us. They said the menu was limited, but there were lots of choices. I started with a glass of Austin Red, which was fairly full bodied. My lunch choice was a Club Wrap, which came with chips, coleslaw and a pickle. The patio is beautiful and the music was playing softly so we could have a conversation and enjoy our wine. Food was delivered timely and my wrap was delicious. The chips were crunchy and the coleslaw was the best I have had in a while. Service was just ok, but I was more flabbergasted by the fact that the servers just walked by trash that was blowing around because it was so windy. Menus were flying off the tables, napkins off laps, and they just walked by them and actually stepped over them.

Great food and flights. Beautiful landscaping! Love the different areas to dine. We had the Brie and pear appetizer with half balsamic and half caramel. Didn't taste any caramel. Also enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip in a bread bowl.

Great experience with my girls on a college reunion weekend. We did 3 wine tasting, Kathleen was super accomidating with our group. Sweet and dry wine drinkers. We arranged a lunch too in the celar, no tour but good wine. Great outdoor covered seating!

Lemon Cake and Chocolate Bomb Cake

We stopped at the Grand River Cellars for dessert and I am so glad we did their desserts were delicious, and the service was excellent. The Chocolate Lava Bomb Cake was airy and rich. Very chocolatey and smooth. The Lemon Cake was pleasant tasting and finely created. The winery has a cute little patio and they have a full indoor restaurant. This place also has music in the evenings, with a small stage, check their calendar of events ahead of time. Grand River also offers community events throughout the months. Kudos to them for being so inclusive. Overall we enjoyed our desserts and our server was pleasant. I didn't talk about their wine but my Rose Blush was tasty and my companion enjoyed his semi dry white wine. Thanks again.

Not bad for Ohio wines though. The location, and the place for that matter, is pretty rustic. The woods are close by in the back. The wine bar is small and can get quite crowded. Behind the wine bar are tables where you can enjoy a glass or bottle. I've been here three times and have had the same person at the wine bar each time. She's very nice and tries very hard to help with the wines. I was trashing one of the other area wineries in discussing her wines, which I believe contributed to a 5% discount on 6 bottles (not a standard practice) and no sales tax. It probably didn't hurt that I bought a couple of the Reserves. So on customer service alone, this place is a winner. As a bonus, they participate in the Ice Wine Festival every March (two weekends, usually the first two). They have very good Ice Wine, but it is a bit more expensive than South River Winery's. Definitely want to include this place on the circuit through the Grand River Valley.

This was the most crowded of the wineries we visited, and the patios were getting a bit cluttered, as there weren't really trash cans or anybody bussing the tables. I enjoyed the white flight, the Temptation was my favorite, and we shared a fruit and cheese plate with an apple, crackers, bread and a fantastic aged chedder. The apple was served whole, with a steak knife to carve it up yourself, on a Styrofoam plate, so didn't quite match the scenery and overall vibe, and a steak knife is not the right tool to cut a huge honeycrisp apple. So it was a nice snack, but could have been done a little better. FYI - the actual winery is not super accessible - steps up to the front door, the bathrooms are down a flight of stairs, and the outdoor areas for enjoying your wine are mostly accessed by stairs as well.

They have fun with the church theme with a cardboard cut out nun you can take your photo with. Exiting the back of the church you come upon a couple giant flight of stairs that could be a problem for some visitors. These stairs lead to a seating area up on a platform that feels like you are perched on part of a castle overlooking the fields of grapes. I must confess I'm not a wine expert. I enjoyed the flight of dry reds I ordered. My friend ordered the charcuterie board which had a huge wedge of bread and a very tasty cheese we kept begging for more tastes of.

Their hard ciders are also delicious.. the cider with the bourbon hint tasted like a cozy night by a campfire. I would recommend Cranberry wine if you're into cranberry.. they did it right. And some of my other favorites were the Red Raspberry, Blackberry, and Apple wines. The man behind the bar seemed to be the one running the show, he was knowledgeable and very helpful picking out what to try. The service was friendly and enjoyable. They have a lot of little things for sale including hand painted wine glasses that were adorable! The experience here bested every experience I've had at other wineries, and for a fraction of the cost. You can sample 6 wines for $10. I love everything about this place and I will be back often!
