The food toook a bit long to make. We did have one item remade because it was not like how she had it before and that took a really long time. I would have liked more chicken in my tikka masala .. There was also some singers or something that were here and just crowded our section by the door. The food is not all that special to me.

Must come too!! Have come here 3 times over the past few months for various varieties they offer. Tried their Benne Dosa the first time and it felt like i was not missing home! From the ambience, to the service (Very attentive and friendly) to the food. The quality is so so fresh, all the three times I've eaten here. Came with family first, a big group and then came as a couple for their Bhojanam and their Thali. All three times was excellent. Even though we came late the first time, they entertained us with the same amount of attention. The other two times, the Bhojanam experience was wonderful.. the Thali was outstanding! I will def be going here, whenever am craving good quality Indian cuisine, which isnt stuffy and bloating'! The products used here, are excellent and extremely homely.

Wonderful experience. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the dosa and mutton. The spread on the warm crispy dosa was so addictive. The mutton curry was such a treat because the meat was extremely tender, slightly fatty, and extremely flavorful. All the curries / gravy here have adjustable spice levels, but the meat itself is usually spicy. The bone is kept in and the marrow is soft. The texture is soft yet slightly stringy and chewy in a really satisfying way. Service can be a little inconsistent so you will have to be assertive, but everyone was very helpful and polite. It was also very busy (lunch). Food came out quickly. I am still thinking about the food! Would love to come back.

Had a great meal here! The restaurant was nicely decorated and very clean. The staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and we were waited on right after sitting down. All the food was delicious and came out quickly and the prices were reasonable. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and want some Indian food.

Restaurant has new management and they are fabulous!! The food was hot and delicious... Service was very attentive. Make sure you try the ice cream. We loved the pistachio and mango!! Can't wait to come back!!

Check out New India Gate! Just outside Ahwatukee on Ray Rd. Was delish' We had the Lamb Saag, Chicken Achari, Chicken Tika, Tandoori Chicken. Samosa was on point, and their selection of Naan was yummy! Family owned and operated by a couple brothers. Check it out!

Non veg thali

Heard about their Thalis and visited on a weekend. Ordered chicken thali and mutton thali. The only difference between them is one dish. As soon as we ordered spiced buttermilk was served as a welcome drink. The actual meal came in after 15-20 minutes but I can understand because it was peak timing. Coming to taste, it is the best thali I have tasted in this area yet. I couldn't find fault with anything even if I wanted to. It was unlimited thali. It is normal to have unlimited rice but they served even chicken fry unlimited. Special shoutout to the service. Everyone - the lady who took the order to the ones who served food were very welcoming. They regularly checked in to make sure we got what we needed. I will be a regular customer. Keep it up!

Lamb Vindaloo (takeout)

My hubs and I decided to order takeout from here. I've seen the restaurant when passing by and know that the spot has really great reviews, both on Yelp and on Grubhub. So we decided to give it a shot when I was craving Indian and we were too tired to actually go out. For our mains we ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala (mild), Lamb Vindaloo (medium), and Chicken Jalfrazy (aka Jalfrezi, also medium). Each of the main dishes came with its own small takeout box of basmati rice- something I always appreciate (not having to order rice on top of $15+ individual dishes). I also ordered the garlic naan. Since the bill was already getting up there in price, I decided to forego our favorite app (samosas). The order arrived in plastic containers that are reusable if cleaned ("free" Tupperware, woo hoo!), Nothing was spilled and it was packed ok. The garlic naan was probably my favorite, it was delicious and perfectly cooked naan bread. The meat for all three main dishes was tender and well prepared, too. The sauces/flavor of each of the main dishes was not what I expected. I don't know how to describe it other than that each of the dishes tasted somewhat vaguely of a canned soup? i.e., one sort of tasted of tomato soup, and another of vegetable soup. We were also kind of disappointed that the vegetables in the jalfrezi looked as though they came from a frozen veggie mix. I guess when it comes to Indian cuisine I have sort of have come to expect sauces that taste unlike anything I can compare to a canned western food, and veggies that are bigger/fresher. But knowing that any Indian Food I've ever tried is already Americanized, I don't know how unfair that expectation is. Maybe what I ate was more authentic in some way that I can't know (having never had the privilege of visiting/dining in India). But my subtotal for all four items was $53.96 and for $54 I kind of was bummed. Our leftovers did not get eaten. I think we'll just need to give it a shot in-person next time and perhaps my feelings will be different. Regardless, thanks for dinner New India Gate!

Looking for an Indian buffet!? Come here! Arrived here on a weekend. My husband and I had the buffet. Plenty of items to choose from-anything from goat curry (my favorite), tiki masala, to delicious garlic naan. My favorite was the goat curry (beware of the bones) and the garlic naan. Delicious! It's in a plaza area so no worries about parking. Staff was great! Keep our waters filled. I'd come back again.

Amazing flavors that leave your tongue with desire. The meat is all tender and surrounded by an intense gravy the warms the soul. Never pass this place!!! Service is amazing with the two brothers that own the restaurant and their father's infamous recipes. The ambience is welcoming as you feel like a part of the family when you walk through the doors.

This was $16.
Natalie F.

Not worth the price. The chicken Tikka had some kind of ketchupy or sweet and sour glaze that was oily and slimy. It was $16. The Madras vegetables was frozen veggie mix in sauce for $15. The daal maharani was good but $15 is a lot for a small portion of a legume dish. I'd gladly pay for something good but this was pretty disappointing.

Delicious buffet! Hot and fresh, well seasoned. Vegan options available. The staff is very accommodating. We will be back.

Anyway, so we ordered samosas, pani puris for apps. Ordered a soda and a Gud vali chai. The server or owner, didn't look that of people's person - being in a service industry ideally one should be. That was a bit of a surprise for us. The apps came quick. The pani puri was missing flavor.. the samosas were amazing. The soda came in first, but for the chai, my husband had to ask 3 times. And it came in between our main course, which was not pleasing for sure. Maybe they are short on staff, there was just one other table occupied so wonder why the constant reminder for a cup of chai which usually comes first... We had put in the order for the mains. Chole Bhature and Puri Aloo sabji. Here's the kicker - we weren't served basic cutlery and napkins. When we asked the owner/server got it along with 2 plates and a snarky comment followed "the main course usually comes in a plate, so usually we dont serve it"... errr - we didnt really ask for a plate, it was just napkins and cutlery.. so mannerisms aside (which need to be highly fixed) --- the food - The food was good - it was different than what we usually get in AZ. The flavors were robust, different, not too rich to make you uncomfortable if you have errands to run post lunch and give you a carb crash. But just the perfect amount of richness. It's a decent place, nothing super fancy. You can walk in with shorts, a simple tee and have a meal and it'll be fine..Don't go expecting it's a fine dining place. I am giving it a 3/5 only because, while the food wtv little we tried (We did not try the non veg) so lesser points for that.. it was GOOD. As a hard core Foodie and loving all cuisines, I expect a lot more from indian cuisine. So the 3 points honestly is all towards the food. The rest, could be made up with the place being very very slow and sort of boring for a saturday afternoon... and the basic service industry mannerisms which need to be pulled up.

THE BEST chaat I've had in the states…read more I have not had a single dish here that I have not been absolutely blown away by. We started coming here after our previous Indian spot closed down (RIP buzzing cuisine) and I cannot overstate how good this food was. The service was incredibly fast and the staff are very kind, and it's actually a pretty large place seating-wise. As others have said, I also asked for recommendations and the advice I got was super solid (mostly trying to gauge their spice level). It's $7 for a samosa chaat. In this economy. I have gone there on my lunch break to just grab a cheap bite 3+ times at this point and we have had 3 dinners from here as well. Aside from the pricing, the food itself takes risks that pay off extremely well. I often find myself going to Indian spots in AZ and feeling like the flavors have been muted or toned down to be more palatable and enjoyable for all audiences. Chaat Express does not cater to the unseasoned tongue and everything you get here is bursting with amazing, authentic combinations of herbs and spices. The flavors are just indescribably good. When BOTH of a samosa's chutney sauces are delicious (and especially when the red sauce is not overly-sweet), you know you are in for a treat. Their curries are made with the same ideology: bold, flavor-forward, and delicious. In addition, their meats are always bafflingly tender. Whether you get their goat or chicken, it will be cooked perfectly. If you're not a meat-eater, their paneer is also great and the texture is exactly what you would want to expect. I've also had their lassi, rice, and naan. I really like the way they do their naan. It's buttery but not overly-buttered, and always very fresh. Their mango lassi is also perfectly sweet with just enough of a hint of that tanginess that it stands out on its own. And again, for $4 you cannot beat that value. TLDR: this place NEEDS to do well or I will lose my mind. please come here. i am begging you to not let this place flop

It was so perfectly cooked and it felt that they used fresh unripe jackfruit. I always enjoy trying unripe jackfruit in traditional Asian dishes that existed before it become commonly used as a meat substitute in dishes. This one was my favorite yet. I really couldn't believe how much I loved it. Perfect texture, perfect flavor, perfect masala spicing. The Pudina paratha was disappointing, especially in comparision to how perfect the other dish was. I thought it would have fresh mint leaves or a strong mint leaves taste but it really felt like a paratha with just very little dry mint sprinkled on it that was hardly noticeable. The jackfruit dish really did make up for it though. They had nice atmosphere her and nice relaxing decor. on the dark ish side. My favorite thing is how the menu is marked super clearly for vegan, vegetarian, gluten -free, containing nuts and containing dairy. So helpful for diners and seems to me that would also be helpful for the restaurant to not have to answer as many questions or have confusions. I wish more places did that for their own sake and for their customers. We sat at a table with both booth seating and chairs. There was just a small space between our table and the one next to us. Due to the proximity, even the server bumped into our table when serving the other group. We got water shortly after we sat down, but overall service was extremely slow the entire time. It took a while for our server to stop by to take our order. Food came out hot and fresh. We each got different starters and entrees from the AZ Restaurant Week menu, so we could all try more dishes. The fried jhinga (shrimp) was good paired with a mint & cilantro chutney. My friend's starter Kutchi Dabeli had spiced peanut in it and was more spicy than we expected. The lamb keema was pretty good, and I typically don't eat lamb. For main dishes, loved the paneer - it had a lot of sauce, which paired nicely with the garlic naan. The murgir johl (bone-in chicken) had good flavor. I was not a fan of the fish curry. For dessert, the popsicle was coated in so many different spices that overpowered the ice cream. The malai ghewar had a nice crunch but tasted too oily. The spicy guava maria cocktail was smoky (from mezcal) and delicious. We had an issue with the bill - the two beers from the table next to us were added to our bill. It took a while to flag down the server, but she got it corrected. While some of the food was good, I'm not sure I would return given this experience.

Happy that they offer more typical pizza combos as well. There's something for everyone for sure. Will be back soon for more!!

Atmosphere - The first time I visited, there were no strange or strong odors or smells. The last time I visited, it smelled like the sewer backed up and maybe it did since it was raining that day. I did not visit the restroom. It was not very busy inside, but the order took awhile to come out. Some guys were playing pool. Service - There were about two employees. Order and pay at the counter. Self seating. Parking - Surface parking lot. No parking meter or parking structures. Wish there was covered parking or solar panels. Unique - The flavor of the pizza. My family and I ordered the Punjab Veggie Platter, and everything was delicious, but the pakora was a standout: fresh, hot, and perfectly crispy! My sister and I shared the Tandoori Khazanna, while my mom ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. Every dish was packed with flavor, and the garlic naan was fantastic, with actual pieces of garlic cloves throughout! Honestly, this was the most flavorful Indian food I've had in the Phoenix area. Between the delicious food, the wonderful service, and the obvious care that goes into everything, this place is a gem. I love supporting family-owned restaurants like this, and I can't recommend The Dhaba enough. We'll absolutely be back!

I always get something different and am never disappointed. They have amazing garlic naan and mango lasi. They also have several kinds of beers imported from India which is really cool. I'm honestly not sure what it's called but they bring out a free flatbread and if you go on the weekend they bring out a free dessert and it's sooo delicious! Again, I'm not sure what it's called but I've never had anything like it anywhere else. Definitely come on the weekend to check it out!
