This is probably my favorite Indian restaurant I've been to, since moving to phoenix! I found out about them during the Asian Festival the other weekend, and am so glad I made the drive to their location I tried their lunch buffet, which had a 4 veggie-friendly options, a few different choices in meat (chicken, lamb, etc), and lots of desserts (the best part, yay!) Plus the buffet comes with complimentary garlic or regular naan, as well as chai tea.. I sampled pretty much everything, and could decide on my favorite dish, it was that good! The servers and owners were very welcoming, and quick to answer any questions. It was a great experience all around, and I'll definitely be back when I'm craving Indian food again! read more

Thanks to other Yelpers, traveling, we used our "Go To" to find this Indian restaurant. Great find, especially being about 800 miles from home. New India Gate was Delicious. Excellent attentive service. Pardip and Gopi explained that this a family owned business and it seems so. They made us feel as though we were at home. I ordered the Lamb Masala, my Hubby ordered Mahi Mahi Masala and our Daughter ordered Chicken Korma. We shared Aloo Gobi and Saag Paneer, Garlic Nan and Kabli Nan, Mango, Mint and Tamarind Chutney's and Rice. All dishes came hot in temperature and full flavored. We also had Mango and Sweet Lassi's. Needless to say, after driving all day we devoured the entire meal. Don't know when we'll be back in this area, but if you're ever in Chandler, Az. be sure to stop by. New India Gate is easily my favorite spot for Indian food in Ahwatukee and Chandler. No more having to drive to Mesa for great Indian food! From the moment my wife and I tried their Vegetarian Samosas, we knew this place was our new go to for Indian. I have never had another samosa that has come close to the taste of New India Gates. They are a must get for anyone that comes here. In addition to my love of their samosas, I have also enjoyed the Panner Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma dishes here. They have a wide variety of naan bread and have several that I haven't seen at other Indian restaurants here in Arizona or back home in Minnesota. I really enjoyed the Kabli Naan on my last visit. The staff here has always been friendly and act genuinely happy to have you in their restaurant. Once the COVID-19 pandemic is over, I am looking forward to coming back for their buffet and trying all of the other dishes. read more

This restaurant was very good! We happened to come into town on our way to Texas... great call! Service was excellent! We live in Northern California and have been eating delicious Indian food for decades... this was a great surprise. My first time trying Indian food and I loved it! This place has a great buffet for $9.99. There were mostly chicken and vegetarian dishes however there was like a beef dish or two I think. My favorite dishes were the Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Tandoori. All the dishes I had were MILD and not spicy at all!!! It comes with complementary Naan bread which you can do either Garlic or original or half n half. They make it fresh to order. Another complementary was Chai drink however I didn't try it. .We went to the Saturday lunch buffet around 12:30pm. The buffet offerings were very minimal, and of the 7 possible entrees, 5 were virtually empty. I snagged the remaining 2 pieces of chicken tikka masala, and 2 of the 3 chicken tandoori legs. The chicken tikka should be made with tandoor chicken, but it was plain tasteless chicken, as were the chicken legs. The lamb wit peas tray was full, no surprise, it was completely tasteless( no small feat for lamb). A fresh tray of vegetable pakoras came out so we got some... bad news, old oil taste and the dough was raw in the middle. The rice pudding was edible. read more

Tried this place last week as we were looking for a good biryani. Have to admit a little disappointed about the size of the biryani for the price. Did also order the chicken tikka masala which came with white rice. Overall due to price and lack of flavor I will not be returning here. We ordered take out. This was the worst Indian food I've ever had. Just awful!!! I drove 40 min out of my way to try this place and it is truly about the very worst Indian food I've ever had. So many great options we have for Indian food here in the valley. This is not one of them. Food was bad. Naan was pretty good though. The silverware was made for a small child. Some of the best Tikka Masala I've had! Very flavorful with large portions and perfect rice to entree ratio. My husband got the beef varidoo (sp?) and throughly enjoyed it. Ordered was quick and easy and food was ready at the quoted pick up time. Plenty of parking and the 20% off check in offer was a great deal! The buffet area looked decent and entire place was very clean so we definitely plan on coming back. We got takeout here so I can only speak of the food. We got the naaans, tandoori chicken, and mango shake. The tandoori chicken was flavorful and the mango shake was a perfect combo of sweet and sour. I was not a fan of the naan however. It's not traditional fluffy naan straight out the oven with that perfect crisp. I'd still revisit to try some other dishes but would deff get naan elsewhere. read more

The "New India Grill" is great place. Food is top notch, the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu. My son ordered the curry chicken and did not want to hear that the CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA. I have been impressed with their food but this was nothing close to what they used to offer. The buffet is priced at $9.95 on weekends. The spread was average no appetizers Chicken biriyani was in a sorry state, curries were just Okay. Dishes were not being refilled. Family of 4 on a Sunday night. No wait to sit. We ordered samosas, curry fish, curry shrimp and tandoori chicken. We also got some naan. The food was very good, portions were generous. I'm not too experienced eating Indian food, although I found the food to be delicious and interesting. The restaurant was not anything fancy, pretty simple. Service was very good. As a huge fan of Indian buffets for over the last twenty two years, I've tried quite a few in the east valley, and in that time, I long considered Delhi Palace over in Tempe as the gold standard. After multiple trips to New India Gate, they have officially taken the crown away from Delhi Palace as my all-time favorite! The buffet is fully packed with tasty offerings which, once the craving hits, has me coming back just about every couple of weeks. At $9.95 for the weekend buffet, I truly feel that for the quality and quantity of food that they offer, you get more than your moneys worth. The Chicken Tikka Masala is absolutely scrumptious every single time that I visit this establishment, along with the Tandori Chicken, tender and juicy with just the right amount of spice to it, the Vegetable Samosas, a crispy, flaky pastry filled with spiced up potatoes and veggies, and their rice as the base, which is cooked to perfection every time I visit. The garlic naan has just the right amount texture and flavor to sop up alll of those incredible sauces on your plate to create the perfect bite. These are just a few of the many delicious choices that keep me coming back for more! Lastly, the dessert selection is the perfect finishing acts to send your taste buds into the stratosphere. The Kheer is without a doubt, the best version of rice pudding that I've ever had. That along with the Golab Jaman, little balls of milky goodness, various spices and sugar syrup just add to the symphony of flavors that this fine place offers. Finally, the Gajar Halwa, their take on a sweet carrot dessert, which includes nuts and raisins, is just another home run that makes my mouth water just thinking about it! Bottom line - if you've never gone outside the box and experimented with this type of food, the buffet at New India Gate is the perfect place to give your taste buds something new that they'll thank you for later. If you have dairy allergies they allow you to bring in your own coconut milk and they custom make the dish for you at no extra charge. The desserts were also delicious. This was truly a great place for lunch. You are greeted with an offer of garlic or traditional naan. The buffet is filled with many choices for vegetarian meals as well as awesome tandoori chicken and several other meat dishes. The chicken dum biryani had wonderful texture. The saag paneer was fresh and thick, filled with chunks of cheese. One of my favorite things was the chai which seemed to be house made because it was not presweetened, just wonderfully spicy. This Indian food joint was recommended to me by a friend. This restaurant has been under new ownership for the past year. We came here just for take out. They have a casual but clean restaurant. They seemed to have a good lunch buffet going. We ordered the chicken biriyani and tandoori mixed platter. We got it Indian hot which was quite spicy so if be careful before you order it. We enjoy spicy food so we liked it. The food was above average and better than a lot of the other AZ Indian joints. Being a big fan of Indian food I have a high standard for Indian food. The meat was moist and not dried out. The biriyani was well spiced and had a good amount of meat in it. The mango lassi was really good. Will probably come back again. The chicken makhni sauce was creamy and yogurty with chopped tandoori chicken that was clean, not grisly, and seemed to be all white meat as far as I could tell. My wife and I are huge fans of this place. We are semi-regulars here. We've had lunch, dinner and take out and its all so very good. The food is wonderful. The lunch buffet is great. Dinners are fantastic as well. You can't go wrong on either option. I know that so many people are focused on the food, and rightly so. However, I want to highlight the amazing service that New India Gate has. The servers (also owners?) that we typically see, have consistently provided excellent service to us each time we are there. We have never had bad service here. They are so very nice and personable. They have offered to go above and beyond to accommodate my wife and I to ensure that our meal is the most enjoyable. These guys have absolutely nailed it as far as customer service goes. I cannot say enough good things about them as people. The food is wonderful and that alone makes New India Gate a stand out restaurant, but what make it a 5 star establishment is the food + the wonderful service. Well done! read more
