Heard good things about the sunset views from this restaurant so we thought we would give it a try. It was unfortunately too cloudy for a pretty sunset but we still enjoyed being by the water. The food was nothing special, just your typical beach grille restaurant. We were glad we tried it but will be trying others next time we are in town! The best part was the pretzel!!! That's a must try with the cheese omg so good! The service was great, no complaints. Speedy but also allowed us to take our time.

Squid Lips is more of a one-and-done vs tourist trap. The food was pricey, yet forgettable. The sunset river views are spectacular, and the service is abysmal. Buz, you have a fabulous location, but your molasses paced service is your downfall, and you're well aware of it, given a handful of recent reviews complaining about it. Maybe you're content with the first time crowd. The good: great photo ops for sunsets by the river. The ambiance of the patio is welcoming with a ParrotHead vibe. The coconut shrimp and island dipping sauce are a hit. The Citrus Salmon was the winning entree, along with its blackened flavors. The bad: for $28.99, the Keys Combo should not come with a fish fillet so dry that it chokes the customer... and yes, we did complain, and it was removed from the bill. The ugly: how in the world does it take over an hour to bring appetizers, when one of them is a cold smoked fish dip with packaged crackers? Our server, Emma, was also a treat to interact with, as she announced, before our apps had even arrived, that the kitchen would be closing in 8 minutes, so if we wanted entrees, she'd have to put them in ASAP. And yes, Emma, I know there's a place on your POS device for tipping, just like there is in 99.9% of restaurants in America. So Buz, this is the review that your staff wrote... I just typed it in PS, so Buz replied to my review with this comment: "Your comments directed at both our team and ownership do not accurately reflect how our restaurant operates." My retort to him, is that we will have to agree to disagree. My comments were 100% representative of how your restaurant and staff operated the evening we came for dinner. I expect the owner to stand by his staff, but also be cognitive enough to recognize when poor performance should be addressed.

The place has a nice view and a great ambiance, which we really enjoyed. The food looked promising - especially the burger and house-made potato chips, which were quite good. However, the Thai poke bowl didn't meet expectations. Unfortunately, the service wasn't very friendly either, which affected the overall experience.

We went during Happy Hour and sat at the bar. We had delicious chicken wings and steamed mussels. Seven of the mussels didn't open. The kitchen generously sent us a second batch. The service was good. The views of the river were beautiful. We would definitely go back.

We've been eating here for five years. Never one bad meal. Sometimes expensive, sometimes busy, but always good food and music. Staff is friendly and areas clean. Come on in and enjoy some Florida feasts.

I came here to celebrate my friends birthday and I was excited because I have never been here. This was one of the worst service experiences I have ever had. The views of the place were really nice on the deck. Although, we went around 6ish so the sun was setting so the sun was shining right in our eyes. We tried to find our waitress to see if she could help lower it but of course, we didn't. We ended up having to figure out how to lower it ourself. The server finally comes to greet us and get our drink orders. We ordered alcoholic drink and a few of us ordered waters and someone else ordered a coke. The person who ordered the coke had to remind her twice for coke. I had to ask three times for my water. The other person with us gave up because once she walked away from the table she probably wouldn't be back for a while! My food came out before my water did, 7 minutes into eating my food actually. I even had to ask the guy who dropped our food off if I could have silverware. We watched her check on other tables and not even make an attempt to come to ours. Had we not have been celebrating a birthday, I would have left because it was absolutely ridiculous! She was the friendliest to our group when she brought the check to our table. 18% gratuity was added to our table because we had a total of 9 people but she DID NOT deserve 18% tip at all. Our server was a lady with blonde kind of wavy hair and wore it in a pony tail. I write reviews a lot but I have got to have a really terrible experience to only put 1 star.

Sea Bass Lorenzo and garlic mashed potatoes.

Right on the water and the views are amazing. Eating on the deck is a must, don't sit inside, you're welcome. Service by Mali was top notch. She made suggestions that were spot on. We got there during happy hour 3-6, oh yeah. My sea bass was so good, if I came back I wouldn't even look at the menu. Excellent restaurant!

Who doesn't love dinner with a beautiful view? At Squid Lips, you can often catch a glimpse of dolphins, manatees, and plenty of catfish while you eat, which makes the experience extra special. We enjoyed a lovely sunset dinner here and it did not disappoint. There is even a dock for strolling after you eat. I ordered the fried shrimp, my husband had the fried fish, and our Aunt chose the fish tacos. Everyone loved their meals, and the prices are very reasonable considering the waterfront location. The kids' menu is a nice touch for families. Our little ones stuck with the classic chicken nuggets. The service was friendly, and since we usually visit on slower nights, the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable. The outdoor bar is huge, and we happened to catch happy hour. I grabbed a $5 margarita while my husband and aunt had beers. The margarita wasn't the best I've ever had, but for $5 it hit the spot! All in all, Squid Lips is a great spot to bring out-of-town visitors or simply enjoy a meal with water views. We'll definitely be back.

Squid Lips: Come for the fish dip, stay because you're too full to move. This place is the Floridian fever dream I never knew I needed. Super chill, islandy vibe--we sat outside, caught the breeze like a sailboat, and felt ourselves instantly enter vacation mode. Service? ON it. Friendly, fast, and they didn't even blink when our kids started feeding the fish off the pier like it was their part-time job. Honestly, that pier fish-feeding gig might be their new career path. We kicked things off with the smoked fish dip and... I need to learn how to make it at home because I am officially addicted. That said, it came with Club crackers. Classic move. Probably traditional. Maybe sacred? But I'm a rebel and lowkey wondering if tortilla chips would be better or if that's considered a felony in Florida. I don't know--I'm not from here. Please don't report me. Our daughter got the coconut shrimp and looked like she'd found her life's purpose. As for us, we went for the Monday after 4 p.m. fish & chips double portion special. Let me tell you: it was a MOUNTAIN of food. Like, wear-stretchy-pants-and-bring-Tupperware level of food. In short: perfect vibes, amazing food, too many crackers, 10/10 would come back and do it all over again (this time with my own chips... just kidding. Kind of).

Kamy, our bartender, was super nice and fun. Food and drinks were great.
    Cheryll H.

As first time patrons, 4 of us, we would have quickly decided one and done if the hostess, Emily, was our only staff contact. Being seated as far away from the water, after arriving by boat, we asked to sit in another area. She said, "I can't sit you at a big table ". Very rude and told me not to yell at her when I asked her, in a normal tone of voice, if we could sit at a particular 4 chair table near the water. We were standing within 4 feet of each other. I asked her if she really thought I was yelling at her and she said, "don't talk to me across the room. It's a bad experience for the other guests. Absolutely ridiculous. We were not made to feel welcome at all. We went to the bar and had a great experience with Kamy. Great friendly personality and service. We loved every minute. Thank you, Kamy. We will be back because of you and the food and drinks.

Key lime pie. One of the best.

It was an amazing day of good weather. Perfect to sit outside. Happy hour Margarita is fair. I prefer the one on the rocks at this place. Stuffed flounder with potatoes was perfect. Thai Mahi was excellent as well. Waitress was pleasant and did a great job. Key lime pie was the best I've had in this area. Great experience, Thank you.

Unfortunately a lot of the execution fell a bit flat, especially after both the menu and it's prices had set our expectations otherwise. The amuse bouche was definitely a palate awakener.. a mix of olive tapenade and vinegary mustard. It wasn't for us, but if the goal was to wake up our mouths, it worked. Then hubs had the scallop appetizer with bacon maple marmalade. He thought it was too sweet, I didn't mind it. Scallops were cooked well. I had the mussels from Brussels, a bit clumsy to eat as the mussels were in their shells and the thin Brussel leaves were scattered within/around, all on a bed of pureed potatoes. But a nice flavor and a good portion size. Then i moved on to the beet salad, which was my least favorite. A dish I enjoy at a lot of restaurants, all with different plating/approaches, this one was clunky, the beets were cut thicker than usual, plated with large proportion dwarfing the citrus and the cheese was presented in medium size encrusted balls. It lacked elegance or delicateness, the flavors didn't really meld as they should. Hubs and I then moved to the main course. I had the crispy gnocci app as my main, which was fine, nothing special and hubs had the catch #2 a tile fish that was just ok. We finished our drinks, opted for dessert elsewhere. They've been around a long time, so I'm sure we will try again in another couple years.

The back of the house was likely overworked. It took a LONG time for us and those at other tables to get our food, yet when our meals finally arrived, they were hot and delicious. Based on my experience, you should request extra spice in the gumbo (it was likely made for the masses and was merely good). The good here far outweighs the bad - I'd definitely come back!

We got there and definitely a beach bar/restaurant vibe. The place is quite small and you're eating outdoors on picnic tables. Atmosphere is really nice but the cleanliness is sub par. Let me start with the positives. 1) The waitress provided great service and was very patient with us on the ordering. 2) Food: the fish and chips was good. Tasty, Not greasy and crispy. The shrimp po boy is cooked nicely and taste is good. The highlight are the waffle fries and sweet potatoes tots. 3) the food cooked and served in a timely manner. Now the negatives. 1) the steak skewers. Very tough and bland. 2) the seafood bisque. It wasn't a bisque and very watery. I think it was microwaved and wasn't cooked fresh. 3) sweet ice tea. I can tell it was brewed but wasn't made that day and wasn't sweet. 4) You get 1 small tartar sauce. If you want additional sauces, it's $1 extra (each). Why? You get 3 large pieces of fish in an order of fish and chips but a small amount of tartar sauce which covers one piece. 5) $$$ I like supporting local mom and pop type of restaurant but the prices are a bit on the expensive side. My family goes to the AFB commissary on a daily basis. We may comeback for the fish and chips but will bring our own tartar sauce.

In fact, I regret ordering my premium crab meal with seasoning. I enjoy spicy food, but this just didn't deliver. The service, unfortunately, was disappointing. It may be due to being understaffed. However, I didn't like having to pay before being served, you have to pay, tip and order on a machine before getting serviced. if I hadn't, I wouldn't have tipped based on the service I received, it really was a 1-star experience. We got served before our drinks. And I never saw the waitress again. I had to flag down another employee who was cleaning tables to get us our paid drinks. One of my premium sides was missing, they were so busy I didn't even bother trying to track it down, I already had to pull teeth getting drinks. so I paid for something I never received. After spending over $250 plus, there wasn't even a simple thank you or thanks for coming at the end. Some customers enthusiastically got it, but we didn't. They saw us leave with no care. Overall, I won't be returning. When people go on vacation, we want to feel good, ya know?

Had a few family members meet us and I found Old Fish House on the good ol Yelp! machine and we're glad we did. Located in a strip mall it's got a bayou kind of flair inside and while in a strip mall, it's close enough to hit up Ron Jon's and some other attractions so you can walk off your meal! We had some frog legs, fried mushrooms, fish, and crab legs. The frog legs were sautéed and really light tasting and the garlic butter was delicious to dip the mushrooms in. Speaking of mushrooms, they come with that gooood ranch! You know the kind, thick as pancake batter; that goooodddddd ranch! Mom enjoyed her fish and crab legs did taste fresh. Sweet enough to eat without dipping in butter. We waited a bit for food and drink refills but our server was pleasant and no huge issues. The inside is a bit cramped but even on a Friday night, you didn't feel like you were bumping elbows. If you want solid seafood, check out the Old Fish House. If you want waterfront, look elsewhere but you won't go home hungry eating here!
