Squid lips it's always been seafood favorite of mine. This is their newest location. When arriving location seems a little on the small side with an underwhelming parking lot. As you walk into the place you will find two koi ponds. Feeding the koi fish is an option and pretty fun for kids like myself. The dining room is very large inside. There's also a large outdoor seating area as well in case you want to be by the water a cool night. We sat inside, next to large panoramic glass windows. Sitting next to these windows we were able to observe a pod of dolphin hunting a school of fish. This really added to our experience. The food at squid lips is expensive. Sometimes you can find local coupons and deals then make them a little bit more reasonable. They do have a full bar. Alcoholic beverages that we ordered did it taste good but there just wasn't a lot of alcohol in it for the price. Generally, we spend $9 in a mixed drink that's a tall boy you'd expect to feel some sort of tipsy off of it. After drinking these I felt like there are child-friendly not alcoholic beverages and then even get a little bit of a head buzz. Just to paint a picture of my level of alcoholism, last time I had a drink was two glasses of wine 3 weeks ago. So yes, a $9 bar beverage should be stronger then a $3 glass of wine but that's like just an opinion. The service at all squid lips locations is always acceptable. Not too speedy, not too slow I never once thought that I had a disappearing ghost waitress. They give you and your family or your date just the right amount of space. Don't forget to feed the wild catfish outback before you leave. If you see them slowly so many will come they can get them to literally climb on top of one another out of the water to grab fish food. It's rather hilarious. Bottom line, squid lips is a great choice for seafood and a family outing or date night. I'll continue coming back to squid lips as all locations are unique and fun to be at. read more

Stopped in while traveling thru, had heard good things about this place. This place is awesome. The Crunchy Fish Sandwich is something to try. Several great dishes for Shrimp Lovers. The place has a very inviting and relaxed ambiance.We loved walking to the dock after ordering our dinner and feeding the fish and our biggest highlight is the outstanding service. we received from the hostess, she took the time to explain details of the food, came to check on us several several times. We went here for my Birthday. Love the food. I had the steamed clams. I asked for garlic butter sauce and lemon. Outstanding, mostly love the Ambiance. Outside by the River. It's layered back. Had a great lunch. My wife enjoyed her Cuban sandwich. My grandson enjoyed his shrimp basket. We shared really fresh conch fritters. And my sea bass was fresh and very tasty. We shared a piece of key lime pie. Nice service. Good "oceanside seafood grill" ambience. read more

We tried Squid Lips one more time. It was nice sitting outside watching the sunset, but the food was not good. I ordered the grilled shrimp--which is a favorite of mine -- and it was so overcooked that the shrimp were like rubber with black tails. My husband had the Cuban sandwich which he said was terrible. The one in cocoa smelled like a women's toilet had backed up at the entrance. The meals ranged from acceptable to quite good! The odor of rotting fish at the koi pond was nauseating. Friendly, relaxed, fun decor. Staff was nice, view was outstanding. Happy hour drinks are very sweet, don't expect a generous pour. Smoked fish dip seems to be a thing at most FL restaurants, so decided to try it here, not sure what the fish was, but it might as well have been a scoop of tuna salad and was served with diced tomatoes, red onions, diced jalapeños and captains wafers on the side. If you like really sweet gooey coconut macaroons, then you may want to try the coconut onion chips. If you don't, then skip it. The Thai mahi was over cooked, under seasoned and dry, but the sauce was ok. The mashed potatoes and side veggie were cold. The lobster mac was lacking lobster. The crab and lobster stuffed shrimp was ok. The stuffing was good, but the shrimp wasn't seasoned. The fries were surprisingly good. If you like well seasoned food then ask for salt and pepper. I wouldn't come back here, but if you are looking for average beach fare at an ok price it will suffice. read more

We're staying in Cocoa Beach for the weekend for my boyfriend's Dad's birthday. Squid Lips was recommended to us by the owner of the condos that we're staying at. We took her word and assumed it's a great local spot. But we were unfortunately very disappointed :( The food was pretty bad. My boyfriend and I both got the mahi and it was not good at all. The fish didn't taste fresh and was lukewarm. It almost tasted like it was leftover and rewarmed. (I'm not insinuating that that was the case, just trying to paint a picture of what it tasted like). The vegetables tasted like something you would be served in a school cafeteria. Just steamed and soggy with no seasoning. Everyone in our group complained about their food in one way or another. The only thing that everyone enjoyed were the fries! Dinner was expensive for the quality. We paid about $20-$25 per entree. We went around 5:30pm and the place didn't appear to be too crowded. We sat outside and it was very hot (our decision though!) The service was also pretty bad. Our waiter seemed to be exhausted and never took the time to actually stop at our table. He always seemed to be taking our orders as he was walking away. He must've had a lot of tables, so maybe they're understaffed? We waited forever just to place our drink order and we had to chase our waiter down when we wanted to place our food order as well. This is the first 1-star review I've ever written. So I don't like leaving bad reviews. And it's not necessarily a bad place.. but you could tell they were understaffed. Which is ultimately why they got at least 3 stars because I know how hard it is to get employees right now. Got there with a party of 9. Stood out front and waited for a bit (told us it would be a 10-15 min wait) and it was closer to 30 because no one was bussing tables. Once again, understaffed, but the staff didn't really have much of a hustle in their steps. Bar tender was obviously overwhelmed, tired, and cranky. And understandable. But the cranky attitude wasn't really called for. We enjoyed the views in the back while we waited. Saw 3 dolphins, which was awesome for our out of town guests. Finally got seated. Took our waitress forever to get our drink orders. Then another good 20 minutes to come and take our order. Ordered oysters, which they ended up being out of. 3 orders of calamari. One was so undercooked we had to send it back. Big storm rolled in and the screens we were by weren't working, so we ended up splitting up our party and moved to different tables. Waitress was very accommodating. Food was mediocre at best. We had a few order the fish and chips. The portions were extremely small for the price. It was like ordering from a kids menu. Same with the fried shrimp meals. Such small portions for the price. Our ticket had 5 meals on it and it was almost $200 with the mandatory 20% gratuity because we had a larger party. It's not mentioned anywhere about that, so I was a little surprised.. but added gratuity for a party of 9 is pretty standard. So I was ok with it. I don't know.. all in all, I wouldn't go back. It was ok because the original place we went had an hour and a half to two hour wait.. but after waiting as long as we did, I would have opted to stay at our original restaurant instead of switch to here. It really does have great potential.. but just the price for the mediocre, small portion food was my main issue. But at least we saw dolphins, right? read more

A beautiful day to eat along the lagoon! The service was great and so was the food - chicken tenders and kettle chips. Lots of gold- and catfish to feed and grackles looking for handouts. Only wish the view wasn't obstructed by the 4x4s, otherwise a lovely spot to enjoy the weather and a meal outdoors on the water. read more

Ask for Craig! He's the bomb.com, and our only friend in Cocoa Beach (besides Linda at the bait shop). There was a wait but it was well worth it. We recommend the coconut onion chips as an appetizer(Craig's advice). The seafood lasagna, lobster shrimp mac n cheese, and coconut shrimp earned a gold star. They know what they're doing when it comes to seafood. We sat inside to avoid the wait but their outdoor seating and bar has a beautiful view. If I was catholic Craig would be godfather to my son. Carlos is a fantastic manager and staff is great however the General manager was very rude to my wife, will be in touch with my attorney to sue this general manager a real big shot we have been going there for the last four years had have a small service dog that is ADA certified never bothers anyone, and were kicked out . He broke Florida law . I can proof he is a certified service dog. Would not normally waste my time or money on his but his rudeness is not right and needs to be accounted for. read more

Service was horrible. Bartender at outside bar ignored us. She then realized we were not happy with the food and ignored us some more. When we finally got her attention, she went and got her manager after twenty more minutes of waiting. The manager came out and approached us very disrespectfully telling us she tried the food and there's nothing wrong with it. The manager continued to raise her voice at us and treated us like we were young children, not the grown adults we are. The calamari was tough and fishy. We should not be forced to eat food like that and then become sick. Unacceptable food, but absolutely inappropriate behavior from the manager. I truly hope this manager re-evaluates how she treats her customers. read more

The food was good. But the service... the service was absolutely disappointing. I liked our waitress but she had the memory of a goldfish. Every five minutes she "forgot" something. We finished our food before we were even handed our drinks, which were almost completely watered down by the time we got them after watching them sit on the bar while our waitress wandered around aimlessly. $10 for Coke & a shot of Henny I couldn't even enjoy. And I don't know if it was the shot or the food, but all of our stomachs were in pain after eating here. Sorry, Squid Lips, but y'all need to do better. Step it up! read more

We got: Ahi "tartare" - lon house made chips - pretty good - too many chips, tho - the fish was fresh and I liked the presentation. Fish fish wrap/blt - pretty good -- a tad overpriced. The service - scattered and understaffed and stressed ...kind of a bummer. Atmosphere = A+ - you're on the water, drinking boat drinks and doing florida things. 2 stars off for their use of plastic and styrofoam. If I could give this place less then 1 star I would. The 1 star is for our waitress Lauren and the sunset view. Other then that this place was not worth the time or money. The food was diner grade. The drinks were over priced. There were little biting gnats during our whole dinner. The dock "outside waterfront" seating was warped and slanted. Lastly when I went to use the bathroom on my way out there were a bunch of live roaches running around as soon as I turned on the light. Not to mention the nasty musty smell when you go downstairs. Had I used the restroom prior to dinner I definitely would have left. We ordered the stuffed shrimp which came out in soufflé dishes with cold microwaved vegetables and a scoop of cold bland mashed potatoes. The shrimp were placed in this dish and then minced crab meat was placed on top. We ordered the bacon wrapped plantains to start. Two of them didn't have bacon and they were overly drenched in the sauce they use. Food was just a major disappointment. Lauren was a sweetheart and very professional. Very personable and attentive. She showed us the catfish and the algae glow that was occurring. She gave us a pack of crackers so we could feed them as well. She also gave us a can of bug spray to help with the gnats but the can was low and we could only squeeze a little out. This place was such a disappointment all around. read more

We wore T-shirts to support him that clearly stated he's a veteran,today was his birthday we went to the restaurant and my grandma got sea sick she did throw up so we politely asked the employees for a rag or water to clean the mess up the employee we spoke to shrugged his head as if he couldn't help the situation, and than we asked if my poor grandma could have some bread to help the manager was rude and did nothing to make our stay welcome and said if we wanted to complain than we can get out. our family will never come back and I dare say they do not support veterans. read more
