Food was amazing! Location is decent. Service was decent though we waited often for drink refills and such. So, it was our last night in town and we've eaten seafood almost every night. Had a few family members meet us and I found Old Fish House on the good ol Yelp! machine and we're glad we did. Located in a strip mall it's got a bayou kind of flair inside and while in a strip mall, it's close enough to hit up Ron Jon's and some other attractions so you can walk off your meal! We had some frog legs, fried mushrooms, fish, and crab legs. The frog legs were sautéed and really light tasting and the garlic butter was delicious to dip the mushrooms in. Speaking of mushrooms, they come with that gooood ranch! You know the kind, thick as pancake batter; that goooodddddd ranch! Mom enjoyed her fish and crab legs did taste fresh. Sweet enough to eat without dipping in butter. We waited a bit for food and drink refills but our server was pleasant and no huge issues. The inside is a bit cramped but even on a Friday night, you didn't feel like you were bumping elbows. If you want solid seafood, check out the Old Fish House. The fish is 5 stars. No tartar sauce needed or even wanted on this beer battered fish. The restaurant leans more towards a dive bar vibe. We were nervous when we went in because of that. There are numerous reviews that complain about the service but our server Rafael, from Switzerland was great and managed the whole dining room himself. I found this place by looking up fried mushrooms in the area, and I'm glad this is the restaurant we picked. The fried mushrooms were great. They were not like usual fried mushrooms I've had. These were beer battered and bigger, meatier mushrooms. I recommend trying them. I also recommend the mahi mahi sandwich. It was cooked well, and the fish tasted great. I also recommend the crab cake, but not as a sandwich. I got the sandwich, and I would have just preferred the crab cake without the bread. It was just too heavy feeling with the bread. The coleslaw is ok, and the pickle was soggy, but it didn't break the meal for me. The service was great. Our server checked on us plenty of times and was very friendly. We were quickly greeted when we entered and were quickly lead to a table. Our table had the blackened Mahi Mahi with coleslaw and baked potato, the Buffalo Shrimp and a cup of clam chowder. The Mahi Mahi was perfect! The baked potato and Cole slaw were fine. The clam chowder was very good. The flavor of the buffalo shrimp was good, but I recommend removing the tails from the shrimp. They were very difficult to eat. We tried using a fork and knife to remove the tails but ended up leaving too much shrimp in the tail. We finally just picked them up with our hands and ate them. But it was messy! They would have been so much enjoyable if the tails had been removed before frying and dipping in buffalo sauce. The service was perfect. Went in with discount coupon and was told ( even though it didn't mention the restrictions) you can't use it on steak and pointed to the front of the menu where it says the restrictions. It's a a bait and switch tactic that I think is TERRIBLE customer service and experience. We were hungry so we ordered the large order of shrimp ( which is the regular size at other restaurants we frequent) which the old fish house charges an extra $8.00. I ordered the New York Steak which was 8 oz ( not the 10 inch they advertise) . To make things worse the steak was 70% tough and I ended up bringing it home to my dog. We never got to taste the food -there was only one waitress one o'clock pm.. People sitting at 3 other tables. We waited about 10 minutes before she asked about drinks. I ordered a glass of wine and my husband asked for water which came about 5 minutes later. About 10 minutes later she came to take our food order. I ordered a mahi-mahi's sandwich and he ordered a bowl of clam chowder. We waited approximately another 40 minutes, . In the meantime a man came out from the back, sat on a stool and chatted with people at the first table. Then he got up, came back to us and asked how our food was. We said that we didn't know because we hadn't gotten it yet. Then he said something to the effect that it was his fault and he better get back to the kitchen.We had been there for almost an hour. My husband found this place while looking through Yelp for a good seafood restaurant. Once he saw they serve Blue Crab he knew it's where we needed to go! It's a small family owned restaurant in a shopping center. Very authentic. I ordered snow crab (2 clusters), for $24.95. The crab was cooked perfectly. I will say I was disappointed that the "drawn butter" was that fake butter, but the crabs really didn't need much butter at all. Mine didn't come with sides so I was charged $3.95 x 2 for 2 red potatoes and a sprig of broccoli, 1 piece of cauliflower and a few sliced carrots. They were all delicious but thought my 2 clusters should have at least come with one side. My husband really enjoyed his Blue Crab! They were easily taken apart! Husband was hungry & ordered the fried shrimp with boiled potatoes & corn. I wasn't too hungry, so I ordered the crab cake appetizer. Our waitress was sweet, patient, & efficient. She also had a good sense of humor. The food came out quickly. His shrimp were huge! The sides looked appetizing, too. My crab cake was a nice size on lettuce & large tomato slice. All of it tasted so good! Crab cakes actually had a lot of crab (not too much filler) & were a touch spicy. Cocktail & tartar sauces were available, but not necessary for the crab cake. The cook came out, and asked how everything was. We were happy to tell him, "Perfect!" The bathrooms were clean, well stocked, and the walls provided entertaining statements - at least that was true in the ladies' room. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated - ocean mural on one wall with mounted fish & artwork on the other wall. Prices were reasonable. We sat at the bar and indeed again greeted with a smile from the bartender. We started with a crab cake, OMG so delicious and large enough to split. For dinner I had the fried shrimp, lightly fried to perfection Came with two sides I got fried and slaw along with some onion rings! Everything was delicious. My hubby got the Mahi dinner with veggies- the portion was large and he said it was very good. The service is excellent and so glad that we decided to try this little hidden gem. Our family likes to find the hidden Jems. Don't let the plaza fool you as they have been there for years. We were on the hunt for soft shell crab and they hit it out of the park. My wife and I used to love this place, then it changed hands and went downhill fast. That was two owners ago, so we decided to check it out on a Thursday night. We were extremely DISAPPOINTED! My wife wanted fried oysters in a beer batter. While they cook other seafood in a beer batter, they refused and said the cook (the owner) refused saying the batter would not stick to the oysters. Having personally cooked fried oysters in a beer batter I knew this was BS, he just did not want to do it. Reluctantly, my wife placed her order, ordering quite a bit of food. When it came time for my order, I asked for the All-You-Can Eat fried shrimp. I was refused because it was "too close to closing time." If they had been overwhelmed with customers, I possibly could have understood. However, there were only two tables, us and one other who had just arrived. And, not only did they refuse my order, but the waitress did not even try to be nice about it. My wife and I looked at one another and instantly communicated, "We're Out of Here!" I paid for our two sodas and we left. As someone who travels extensively and eats out often, I cannot remember the last time I had service this bad. We liked the hush puppies and the corn fritters. We order the corn fritters without powdered sugar, because #diabetes. My blackened mahi mahi had good flavor, but was a little dry. The broiled version my brother had was better. They put a unique flavor on the broiled version that tasted a bit like Indian food, maybe a curry spice. They used the same spice on my mom's chicken, but the chicken was really dry. The mixed vegetable side was good, tasted like butter so maybe not the healthiest. This was my favorite place to eat while we were on vacation in Satellite Beach. Hole in the wall place that is definitely "old Florida". Trust me I know, born and raised. As soon as you walked in the door the smell of old bay filled your nostrils. The 3.5 stars they have was not accurate to begin with because one reviewer gave them a 1 star because they were closed. Any way this was the perfect place for my wife and I. She gets her snow crab and I get my Blue Crab. Now, this is not the same as Chesapeake bay Blue Crab but when you don't live up north, it's the next best thing. My wife had the snow and it was as good as if I had cooked it at home. She was full with the 2 clusters and the 2 sides she received. I had a Honey wheat beer on draft and nothing goes better with crab. It was later in the evening when we were there so the live crabs were running a little low. I got the last 3 Medium and settled for 3 small to complete my half dozen. I really couldn't tell the difference between the sizes. They even had Worcestershire sauce which I like to mix in my butter. The only improvement they could make is to have Real butter to dip in. We walked in and there was a strong smell of oyster shells. I had read the reviews so we stuck it out and decided to stay regardless of the smell. My wife and I had looked at the online menu in advance so we knew what we wanted to order. She orded the large portion of fried shrimp and I ordered the large order of fried oysters. A lady from behind the bar... yelled across the room and frankly I was surprised and embarrassed and I said is that what we are doing.. yelling back and forth... the sign said wait to be seated so I am waiting... ..... She yelled back I am here by myself so you wanna sit sit here... we are all friends here... and all the customers being Europeans I was the only one with melanin in a rich shade, so I sat and as she said some nasty things under her breath but I heard her... so I was very uncomfortable and no longer trusted her to make my lunch. ..... I understand if you are working alone but under no circumstances should you yell at a customer and back and forth.
