A&M Atlantic Seafood- Cocoa- 4 Stars First, it was the phone call, then it was the sign (see photos) I first saw upon entering A & M Atlantic Seafood that brought and kept the late, great comedian John Pinnette to mind and his famous "Chinese Buffet" routine. It was a packed house for lunch, and as no one else seemed to be paying any attention to it, I turned mine towards what I can only assume was a shrine to the All Holy and Mighty Pineapple, sending a quick thought westward towards the Holy Land (Hawai'i) I approached the counter to place my order. What I found behind the counter only solidified my belief that I was in Mr. Pinnette's bit. She can only be described as the stereotypical "Dragon Mom" made famous in the book by Janet Gonzalez-Mena. She was of Asian descent, unsmiling and slung tough love around like she was chumming for sharks. She had everyone on their toes, focused and performing their assigned task with efficiency and pride. What is the result of all this bossing around and frowning at her employees? Only the best fried Conch I have ever had! It was so devine that I had to go back a second time just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Rest assured, I was not. It is real and very, very delicious. The sweet tea is homemade as it is written in the Florida state constitution (a little-known fact). The Catfish and Shrimp dinner that I ordered was just as out of this world fresh as the Conch. Everything was perfectly breaded and fried to an amazing golden brown. The crunchiness of the batter combined with the tenderness of the Catfish and the Shrimp was an obvious sign of a well-run ship. I will definitely head back a third, fourth and most likely a fifth time just to make sure for my readers Dragon Lady still has everyone on point. It's the least I can do. The Big Boy says, "For an exciting cultural experience and the absolute best fried Conch around, head on over to A & M Atlantic Seafood in Cocoa. Just don't stay longer than four hours!"

Snow Crab Legs and Shrimp Boiled Eggs with Garlic Butter fried shrimp

Doesn't look like much when driving past but we were craving crab so we stopped, the place aesthetically leaves more to be desired but the food more than makes up for it. While slightly on the saltier side the crab had a good flavor profile and the garlic butter was great! We got 2.2 pounds of crab for around $50 and then a bunch of add ons for a total of $70. To say we were stuffed was an understatement. Also note worthy the young tall man that works there was supper nice and even included a free sampler of the crab rice for us to try. It was amazing!

Why is Brevard County sleeping on this place? We popped in…read moretonight for an early dinner and were surprised to only find one other couple there. (Glad to report several more arrived in the time we were there.) The place is adorable, clean and well lit. We ordered several items the hush puppies, garden salad with grilled chicken, the Florida Heat Lobster Roll, and the Connecticut Lobster Roll. The rolls came with fries, baked beans and Coleslaw. We enjoyed everything! The baked beans were Boston style and flavorful. The coleslaw was vinegar based - the way I like it. The rolls were perfect. Misty was our server. She was just attentive enough. Sometimes when restaurants are slow servers will over do it and she was great. She helped us with our selections. The food came fast and hot. I highly recommend this place. We weren't drinking tonight but they also have happy hour M-F.

I ordered a Big Wave for my drink ($5.50). I sat at the bar and my server, Hannah, was polite and pleasant as well as extremely efficient. She had my drink within a minute of ordering and checked on me throughout my meal. The inside is decorated with interesting colors and artwork. It's an inviting place and would be a great place for groups. My Lobster Roll meal came out in a timely manner and looked very good. However unfortunately, there wasn't much taste to it. It was extremely dry. I did order a gluten free bun so maybe that was the problem? Anyway, I was not impressed. The beans, coleslaw, and fries were very good.

We also ordered the colossal shrimp and they were definitely worth the wait. I don't know what their seasoning combo is but it was excellent. We also split the burger and it came out fantastic with chips on the side. The chips paired well with the fish dip. The service was fantastic from the time we arrived. One of the staff immediately found a table for us and sat us. The staff, as a group, were very attentive and provided quick service. I would definitely go back. Also, there allow beach attire, so it makes for a good post beach dinner. The venue is open air which provides great views of the river. There is limited parking around the venue but at busy times, it may be difficult to find a spot.

Of course that is your choice of what to offer. I ordered chicken nachos with extra cilantro and they must have misunderstood because I got no cilantro. Very bland nachos although it was a lot of nachos if that is what you're looking for. We were told about the special which my friend ordered. It was a piece of fish in sauce with a small bowl of rice on the side. Pretty shocked to see it was $36 when we got the bill. Over all it was a one and done for us.

They had our tables ready, greeted us with smiles, and our waitress somehow managed to keep track of orders from a sea of adults and kids without needing a dry erase board and a therapist. Unfortunately... that's where the experience started taking on water. First off, my Corona arrived warm, which is kind of like hiring a clown who forgets the makeup. Technically the job got done, but something important is missing when you're stuck watching a sad drunk dude make balloon animals. Then we got our orders in.... And we waited. Actually we didn't just wait... we waaaaaaaaaiiiiiiitttttted. I'm reasonably confident one of the kids at our table graduated college before the food arrived. Then I flew to china, adopted another kid, sent them to med school, and celebrated their lifetime achievements before being graced with the presence of our food. When it finally did show up, it was... fine. It's bar food, and it tasted like bar food. Unfortunately, the extra 45 minutes in development didn't evolve it into a Michelin-starred masterpiece. Nobody at our table hated their meal, but nobody was writing poetry about it either. Now for the part nobody comes to Yelp to read... the bathrooms. Friends... these bathrooms achieved what I can only describe as the Three F's: Floods. Floaters. And Fecal matter. It looked less like a restroom and more like the aftermath of a natural disaster that FEMA had quietly decided to abandon. Maybe I'm weird, but I've always believed the restroom is the restaurant's backstage pass. If that's what customers see, I start wondering what the kitchen looks like when nobody's watching. Would I come back? Maybe... if I had just climbed off a floating tiki bar, the sun was setting, and my expectations were somewhere around sea level. Otherwise... I'd probably keep driving.
