I'll lead off with the positive. The ambiance was very cool. Indian music was playing on speakers facing the street so you heard it even before walking in. Then, as you walk in it is a fully decked-out restaurant with a full bar. There are tables, booths, and a buffet section. We made a Yelp reservation for 5pm on a Friday evening. It wasn't necessary at all. There was a ton of seating available. The staff were receptive from the moment we walked in. All of this to be said, I really wanted the food to blow me away. Instead, it was just ok. The portions were small and very oily. See the pictures for the visual of portion size. The Gobi Manchurian and the fish curry was the complete serving on the plate. The amount of fish seemed like less than a 5oz filet. The flavor was nice, but the excessive oil coated our mouths. If you have tolerance for food with high oil/fat then this will not be an issue. I have a friend who goes to dinner once a month with me-willing to try new places and new food. Tonight we chose the Royal Peacock. The location has been there a little over a year. The place was very clean. The service was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions and gave recommendations. I chose the chicken masala with no spice and a side of garlic naam. My friend is a vegan and found a delicious choice of veggies and rice with an onion based cashew cream sauce. The prices were reasonable. Very much like Indian food but this place just didn't hit the mark. Placed the order, Mysore Marsala was just half filled with little flavor. Waited for next course, didn't show up, finally waitress asked if we wanted anything else. We said we're still waiting for what we already ordered. Waitress was apologetic. It came out, no naan. Finally the naan came out when we were just about done with the plate, and it was burnt on the bottom. The couple next to us ordered some chicken item, ended up sending it back because it was raw. We were quickly seated and went about reviewing the extensive menu. Once we ordered we were brought come complimentary poppadoms. Something that is a norm in the UK but not in the US which was nice We had: - Large bottle of Taj Mahal beer. Cold. Good! - Palak Paneer - great flavor, excellent consistency - chicken tikka masala - nice pieces of chicken breast, perfectly spiced - garlic naan - perfect chew and just the right amount of garlic Bottom line, cannot wait to go back and explore more of the menu. Even since they opened I come at least every other week. The food actually goes so crazy it's hard to explain. The madras, coconut, Rogan Josh, andhra, avakai, tikka masala, and butter chicken have all been repeat orders. The garlic naan is a consistently good pairing and the veggie samosas are fresh and flavorful . Not only are the staff attentive, they go out of their way to answer questions about dishes in case you aren't sure what to get. Amazing every single time. Someone else posted about a new Indian Restaurant on Fruitville a few weeks ago. I decided to give it a go today and I beyond happy with my meal. I've never had butter chicken. As soon as I did my ceremonial naan dip into it, I said aloud "wow!" It was so flavorful! The curry has a hearty portion of white chicken, no extra fillers. The chili garlic naan caught me off guard too with its robust heat. This place is in the old L&L Hawaiian. It's definitely worth a try! read more

WOW!!!!! Amazing! We love Indian food and have gotten it in many different cities and states... this might be THE best we have ever had! We couldn't decide what we wanted to we ordered 3 entrees to share. Chicken tikka masala, the karapodi masala dosa, and the paneer biryani. After we ordered, they brought free papadums to the table. SO tasty! The biryani we ordered spicy and the tikka masala we ordered extra spicy. Both were incredibly flavorful and aromatic. The dosa was also super amazing. Stumbled upon a new gem in historic downtown Cocoa Village: Royal Peacock Indian Kitchen (in the space formerly known as Murdock's). We shared a Samosa appetizer, smooth in flavor and texture, perfectly spiced and fried to flaky perfection. We followed that with Saag Goat (myself) and Chicken Tikka Masala (Danny). The Saag Goat was perfect - the meat juicy and soft, the spinach sauce perfectly seasoned and the rice light and fluffy. The Chicken Tikka Masala was wonderful - delightfully spicy and earthy in flavor, the sauce smooth, smoky and slightly spicy. The service was formal yet friendly and relaxed. Raji and staff tended to us in a timely and inviting manner - our drinks never went below half full, appetizer and meals were at our table within 10 minutes of ordering. We're told there's a buffet Saturdays and Sundays and they also serve breakfast. Can't wait to get a taste! This is going on our Top-5 Favorite list! My experience at Royal Peacock Indian kitchen was overall very good but not great. The service was top notch and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. it was however a bit pricey when compared to other Indian restaurants we enjoy in Fort Lauderdale. My family and I started with the vegetable samosas, which we all agreed were the most plain tasting samosas we have tried in an Indian restaurant. Then, my daughter ordered the boneless chicken vindaloo, extra spicy. My wife ordered the chicken tikka masala at medium spice and I ordered the malai kofta spicy. The best dish was the chicken vindaloo, but the malai kofta was very good as well. The chicken tikka masala was quite bland. We all ordered varying degrees of spice but they all seemed relatively tame. We finished up with the meal with the nutella dosa with ice cream which was very nice to share. In my opinion, RPIK is a solid choice for Indian cuisine when visiting Sarasota. read more

The tikka masala here was delicious! Definitely a totally different flavor than its competitors in the area, but very good. The garlic naan and chili garlic naan were both excellent as well. My only let down was the dal tadka. It was basically flavorless, but the tikka masala made up for it. My husband said this felt very "clean" compared to the other Indian restaurants in the area. Meaning it felt healthier and not prepared with tons of oil, butter, or ghee. We will definitely be back. read more
