We recently tried Persis Indian Grill on Wickham Road and were excited to explore some new Indian dishes. My partner ordered the chicken tikka masala, medium spicy. The creaminess of the sauce mellowed the spice a little more than I'm typically used to, but it was still good just muted. I wanted to step outside my usual choices and tried the Chicken Chettinadu, described as tender pieces of chicken stewed with herbs, spices, onions, and freshly hand-powdered Chettinadu masala, medium spicy. I'm so glad I did! The flavors were fantastic, and this dish had the heat and depth I was hoping for. Definitely a dish I would order again. There was only one server so not much attention once food arrived and no drink refills but she was sweet nonetheless. Lovely, clean interior. We're already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu from the new weekend buffet on Saturdays and Sundays for $20. Well this was an excellent find. We were out and about and looking for a lunch place on Yelp and here we are. So glad we stopped. So good! Keep in mind I have been to India several times and other states/countries and had the real stuff. I can say this was pretty close. So good. We had Butter Chicken. So good. So flavorful and the heat level was perfect. It was seasoned just right and the chicken melted in your mouth. A winning dish for sure. We also had Paleek Paneer. Again, perfect creaminess. It was good, but missing something to put it over the top. The garlic naan was a winner. So good. I was a little disappointed at the "sweet" naan. That was definitely missing something. The ambiance of this establishment is very clean and welcoming. They have Bollywood films playing on the TVs. The staff are all friendly and kept water glasses full. We ordered the fried rice (my brother is NOT an adventurous eater!), the persis chicken dum biryani, butter roti, and the okra masala. I love to try okra dishes at all Indian restaurants. There was more of a wet dish than dry which is my preference. Very flavorful and nice portion size. My mother's chicken was tender and a HUGE serving. My brother's fried rice serving size could have fed a family of four. Just be warned you WILL take home leftovers for days. The butter roti was delicious and hot... but you can never go wrong with roti! I'm looking forward to coming back to try their baby corn manchurian. read more

You need to come here! Not very many places in Melbourne do authentic foods, but Persis does! I got the mirapakaya vodi vepudu (fried chicken pieces in a green chili and spicy sauce) and chicken biryani in medium heat. I enjoy spice so it was spicy to me but not to the point where I was not able to enjoy it. My nose was running and I loved every bite. I enjoyed a hot indian tea while I ate also. The service was great & I think they have the space well decorated. Whoever reviewed and said they have a limited menu was wrong because they have MANY options and traditional dishes that the adventurous eater would love. They have butter chicken and curry etc. also. They have an excellent and genuine version of *most* of the staples you'd hope for, and the masala dosa is here with it's incredible sauces and flavors, it's perfection. I've had various main dishes here, all perfectly on point and using whole spices, which I love, and that richness we long for, and very generous portions. I wish I could eat here every single day. Impeccably clean ceramic dishes and nice metal cutlery, no plastic/melamine - thank you kindly for caring about customers' health. Persis - you could have no idea how much I appreciate all of this! Be a bit patient when you come in, the server is extremely introverted (not by her choice, I think; I'm shy, too, and struggle to get her attention) but she is actually very polite, and if you enjoy feeling like you have the place to yourself/peace and quiet/on a date/no one is pestering/staring/chatting at you, then it's the calm, relaxing atmosphere that can provide this kind of relief. They do their best to accommodate and answer questions if you do ask. I like to allot myself plenty of time to eat at a place like this, whenever possible. You can relax here and just eat away, enjoy the fantastic food. They have a variety of drinks such as lassi and wine selection, you can pair to thoroughly complete your culinary indulgence. I was especially happy to see that they mark their vegan menu selections with a leaf symbol (makes it easy for vegans to order). Wow! What a treat. Seriously, the most authentic and flavorful Indian food I've had in awhile. We had the okra masala, which was excellent. We also had a goat dish I've never even seen before. The flavor was incredible! The portions are really large. One hint regarding spice. If you want your food medium spice, say mild. If you want it mild, not sure what you do, lol, but don't let that stop you. The atmosphere is nice, not super fancy, but definitely a solid sit-down restaurant. Seevice was excellent as well. This is a relatively new restaurant but they deserve high praise. They have a wide selection of appetizers and main courses both vegetarian and regular. Every single dish was outstanding. I would not recommend Persis Indian Grill to anyone. The only food that I liked was the butter Naan bread. With my entree, I knew literally from the first bite that the food wasn't good. I ordered a paneer dish that said on the menu it came with onions and bell peppers. The dish was loaded with onions - too many. I saw only one small piece of red pepper. I asked the waiter where the peppers were. He said they were there. I didn't bring a magnifying glass to verify this. My friend's vegetarian korma dish was also disappointing. I like Indian food a lot, so this takes a bad Indian restaurant for me to walk away feeling upset rather than good. read more

We've lived in Melbourne, Florida for over two decades and have tried many restaurants in the Melbourne and Orlando area. Unfortunately, our recent visit to Persis Grill (March 30, 2026) was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had. We have not tasted such a bad food like here before. After planning to visit for several months, we finally went for lunch. We ordered Karampodi Gobi, Paneer 65, Veg Dum Biryani, and Gutti Vankaya (eggplant curry). The food arrived quickly, within 10-15 minutes, and looked piping hot on the outside--but the inside was lukewarm to cold. The taste and texture gave the impression that the food may not have been freshly prepared. It tasted like left over food from couple days ago. We hoped the main dishes would be better, but unfortunately, the same issue continued. We couldn't finish the meal due to the unpleasant taste and smell. After returning home, my husband and daughter experienced stomach upset, including diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. While we cannot say with certainty what caused it, the timing after this meal was concerning for food poisoning. Glad I did not eat much due to the unpleasant aroma and unpalatable taste. Given the pricing (over $16 per item), we expected much better quality and freshness. This was not just disappointing but also worrying from a food safety standpoint. Overall worst experience. I am also considering filing a complaint with the food safety and health department for serving spoiled, left overs and substandard food. We won't be returning. I would strongly urge the management to review their food quality and preparation standards to ensure customer safety and satisfaction. Wow! Persis surpassed my husbands and I's expectations. We enjoyed every bit of it! Firstly it is so clean inside and the atmosphere is calm with some Bollywood music in the background that was at just the right volume level and super enjoyable. First time at Persia Indian Grill. We were seated right away The place is bright and clean with Indian pop music playing in the background. The servicer was friendly. We had the Gobi Manchurian to start it had a good crunch not over sauced with a medium spice that was just right. For entrees I had the Gongura chicken curry a rich spicy sauce over rice a must try. My companion had boneless chicken biryani and garlic naan all so good. Portions are large! We were given a complimentary mango custard but were too full to eat it. A wonderful treat I'm sure it won't be long until this place has a waiting list nightly. read more
