The girls behind the bar were awesome, friendly, attentive, and just had that effortless vibe that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. Now the food... wow. Everything came out fresh, hot, and absolutely dialed in. The burgers were stacked and juicy, the sandwiches loaded, and those sidewinder fries? Forget it. Crispy, golden perfection. You can tell nothing sat under a heat lamp, this was all cooked to order and launched straight to the table. Best way I can describe it given the location... This wasn't just good food, it was a full-on flavor liftoff. Like sitting a few miles from Cape Canaveral and watching a rocket punch through the atmosphere, everything about this meal just took off and didn't look back. My husband and I were looking for something different on Cocoa Beach, so we decided to try Big Daddy J's 5 Great Things after seeing the good reviews. When we arrived, we did notice the outside could use a little TLC, but once inside, it was very clean and tidy. We were immediately greeted by both the hostess and bartender, and they were very friendly. We were seated right away and our drink orders were taken quickly. It took us a few minutes to go through the menu since we weren't familiar with the restaurant, and there are quite a few items to choose from. We ordered the "Crack Mac Snack" (macaroni and cheese) and added pulled pork and the biscuit bread. The food came out quickly, and we were not disappointed. The biscuit bread was absolutely amazing, rich, soft, and delicious (maybe a little too generous with the butter on top, but still delicious). It's a thick, hearty piece, about two inches high and roughly four inches square. The mac and cheese was a generous portion and easily enough to share, and it was really good. The homemade BBQ sauce was also a highlight. The only slight miss was my husband's Coke, which wasn't very sweet, possibly a calibration issue with the machine. Cute spot close to the beach. The biscuit was a generous portion and very soft--great for sharing. It would be even better with honey butter, though I added a bit of barbecue sauce to give it a sweeter flavor. The mac and cheese was very creamy and flavorful. I also enjoyed the fish sandwich, which I added tomato and lettuce to since it doesn't come with them. The tartar sauce on the sandwich was especially good. We wanted to try so much on the menu at once, but settled on their famous burger and the crack Mac cheese. Got the deviled potato salad as a side to the burger too. I want to point out that I spoke with the owner about his cannabis drink menu because I thought it was so unique and a great option for people who can't or don't want to drink alcohol. Frito pie was really good, and I got the biscuit bread which I had no idea was like the size of an actual loaf! I got red beans and rice which came out more of a side portion than an entree, and the biscuit which I intended to be my side was beyond an entree size both were delicious! We got a chicken strip kids meal for our 2 year old and it was larger than many adult size chicken strip baskets and came with 4 strips. Very interesting and overly combative response from the owner of this establishment. (Their response and my original review are below.) Their response suggests that we only waited 35 minutes to get our food and that they make everything from scratch. There must be some underestimation somewhere in your timeline as the food we were served had to have been sitting for at least 10-15 minutes to get as cold as it was when it was served to us. As for us not giving you a chance to make things right, come on. My husband asked to be cashed out for the lemonade he had and that we couldn't eat food served this cold. Your waitress simply told us it was taken care of, to have a nice day, and turned and walked off. When my husband asked again at the front of the restaurant to be cashed out, the young lady at the front told us that if we were going to walk out there's nothing she could do. At no point were we offered to speak with management or to have our food remade. Later on when my husband called we were again given lip service with no attempt to make things right. I get trying to protect your business, but when your customer service is subpar you need to own that. At no point has this establishment offered to make this right. Very disappointed. Now, let us say, that's never our standard, it's just not what normally happens. Having a 1200 dollar hour at 2pm is not typical. Thats a big hour for a small place. Our typical food ticket time at that hour is an 8 minute average. We're fast. But sometimes a perfect storm hits and we do the best we can with the hand dealt. We make everything from scratch and make sure to put love in our dishes. Had you not gotten up, and dropped your tray in our food service window and left after being in the restaurant a total of 35 minutes, we would have most certainly made things up to you. We pride ourselves on service. Man, we got buried, we admit it. However, we unbury well. We are definitely not perfect, and we make mistakes, but we're know for what we do after.
