If you're looking for seafood in Merritt Island, Fish Lips won't let you down. There is indoor and outdoor waterfront seating. There are two floors and an elevator making every area accessible to all. There is plenty of free parking. It's right on the water where the boats and the cruise ships sail past. The drink menu is larger than the food menu if cocktails are your thing! We asked our server for his recommendations and they were spot on. The Coconut Grouper was the best dish on the table. The rice had a touch of coconut and cilantro. The fish was perfectly cooked. Make sure you don't skip this one! The grilled mahi mahi tacos were our second favorite. Cooked perfectly and tasted very fresh. We really enjoyed the tuna nachos, but the tuna pieces were huge chunks which we found hard to eat. For this reason we would skip this. We did really like our server, but two of our items did not come out correctly. We ordered one item with no lemon, the other with the sauce on the side. The grouper came out with a lemon on the plate. The tacos were covered in sauce. We only asked them to remake tacos because we really couldn't eat them. Had been at Kennedy Space Center all day with our granddaughters and wanted a place to eat by the water (and to see the cruise ships close by) so we chose Fishlips. You absolutely cannot beat the view, right on the water (and occasionally you can catch a glimpse of the SpaceX rocket boosters coming back after recovery!) Service was a little slow - there were not many people dining (mid-afternoon) but it looked like they were preparing for some special political event). We sent one incorrect drink back and ended up not getting one person's order at first (the restaurant did make it right). Hubs had the fried fish - it was ok. I had coconut shrimp which were quite good but the coconut cilantro lime rice that came with it (which sounded delicious!) was dry to the point of being crunchy. The mango salsa was good. We ordered mac and cheese, fried shrimp and chicken nuggets for one granddaughter not realizing they ALL came with an order of fries - beware! The Mac and cheese looked like it came from "the box" - I tried it and it was not great. Fried shrimp were good. We also had the Mac attack burger and it was good. Stopped by Fishlips after a day at the beach and had a great experience. We grabbed some peel-and-eat shrimp and the tuna nachos, and both were really good. We sat upstairs at the outdoor tiki bar, which turned out to be the perfect spot to relax and watch the cruise ships depart from Port Canaveral. The views were incredible and really added to the atmosphere. The food was solid, the service was friendly, and the overall vibe was exactly what we were looking for after a beach day. That said, it was still well seasoned and the portion size was decent, so it wasn't a total miss--just not what I was expecting. Flavor profile was sweet, fresh veggies, soft bun, bacon wasn't crispy, and over cooked beef. My buddy ordered the chicken fettuccine and thought it was amazing. Personally, I'd take that with a grain of salt--his palate isn't quite as refined as mine--but it's worth mentioning. I looked at it and it looked like over cooked chicken, pasta, and fettuccine sauce. He's a meat and potatoes guy and basic cooking. Service was the highlight. Friendly, attentive, and on point the whole time. The view was amazing and plenty of seating for lunch. This used to be my go to spot when I was a local. I haven't been here in a while, and unfortunately, the burgers used to be amazing. Currently, not bad, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way for either. Like many people, I'm a big fan of tacos--fish, shrimp, beef, you name it. The shrimp tacos I had today have easily moved to the top of my list. Wonderful place at the port to wind down! My waitress was excellent as was all the staff, and she checked on me frequently and made sure I had everything I needed. I had the coconut shrimp dinner with mango salsa and cilantro lime rice (I think it was cilantro lime), and it was delicious and just what I'd been craving. It was piping hot too and delivered to me in a covered bamboo dish which the top was removed when placed on my table. I noticed they did the same with all the other tables, so your food is covered while they travel with it from grill to table. I like that, as it prevents germs from reaching your food. Great atmosphere as it was relaxing sitting out on the water. There was a cruise ship right beside me. Visited Fishlips with a large group of over 15 people. We called ahead to make sure they could accommodate. They accommodated our large group upstairs and outside. Unfortunately it was pretty hot out and their AC units weren't helping much other than blowing hot air at us. The sun eventually went down and it was all good. The menu is large with various options. Host brought my parents and I to seat at a table that was still dirty! We stood next to the table and waited while the host left and returned with a wetnap to finish cleaning. Pieces of food and straw paper were left under the table and not swept up. Guests should never be brought to a table that isn't clean, no matter how busy and quickly the tables need to be re-sat. Immediately told my server, Lisa, that it was our first time dining here. Lisa didn't recommend anything from the menu nor bother to ask why we chose to dine at their restaurant. Had she asked, I would have said we were celebrating my mom's birthday. Upon ordering our meals, while my dad was making his final decision, Lisa was more concerned with checking on her additional tables instead of inquiring what menu items he was deciding upon and guiding his decision. Only writing down what we ordered with zero input. I kept a menu at the table and informed Lisa that I'd want to order a drink within a few minutes. She never circled back to ask what drink I'd want. And after two bites/two minutes of eating, she never asked how our food was tasting. My mom asked for extar tartar sauce for her fish n chips and waited five minutes for it because Lisa returned having forgotten, then had to go back to the kitchen again. And she didn't offer malt vinegar until halfway thru eating the entree. We had trouble processing the credit card payment on the handheld device at the table, so Lisa went to a pos system and returned with the hardcopy receipts to sign. She proceeded to hover and not give us space to finalize and sign, stating she only had one pen. Very disappointed that Lisa failed to provide us a positive dining experience. Never saw a manager walking thru the restaurant to observe how the dinner service was going and kindly welcome guests. Upon leaving, I informed the only manager I could find of what needed improvement. Manager apologized but never said she'd hope I'd return for a better experience, after saying I enjoyed the food but not the service. Manager stated that she never gets complaints about the service, but thats most likely because she isn't observing the guests' experience. If managers greeted guests and made them feel welcomed than they'd also feel comfortable expressing any concerns versus leaving silently. If you desire mediocre service where the waiters are 'phoning it in' and not providing a level of hospitality thats above the bare minimum than Fishlips is for you! read more

What an incredible meal! At first, I thought there was a chance we were walking into a tourist trap. There are lots of places in the area that offer nothing more than proximity to the ocean and cute themed decor, leaving the food an afterthought. Fishlips is not one of those places! Everything from the fries, to the steaks, to the seafood was excellently seasoned. There was such a variety of spices on every entree, I couldn't even list them out here. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many entrees were naturally gluten-free or could be modified. I ended up getting the N.O.L.A. Pasta with gluten-free fettuccine. The sauce was both spicy and fresh, and the shrimp was delightfully charred and crispy. Also the fettuccine was cooked perfectly, which is hard to accomplish with GF pasta. My husband's swordfish was also expertly cooked and melted in my mouth. We took some blackberry yuzu cheesecake to go, which was also incredible. So beautifully balanced and very fluffy and creamy. The service was great. Fast and attentive. My one complaint was that the restaurant was very loud. But overall this was an awesome experience and I'd recommend Fishlips to anyone visiting Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral. read more

I stopped by with some family and we really enjoyed our experience! It was a nice evening so we decided to sit on the back patio and you get a wonderful view of the water and cruise ship ports. Space X also had one of their rockets sitting out which was really cool to see. The menu has a good variety and everyone was able to find something that sounded good. We shared the Corn Dip which was creamy and balanced really well. It is very corn forward and not as heavy on the black beans, but I personally preferred it that way. The combination of cream cheese and Cotija cheese was wonderful and I was so sad when we reached the bottom. For my meal, I got the Korean Nachos and they were delicious! The wonton chips are crispy and crunchy, and are the perfect vessel for the toppings. The Korean beef was flavorful and tender, but not spicy (which is my preference).
