Bottom Line: I'd go back if someone suggested it but it would never be my first choice. I met a friend there for early dinner. Obviously the view is pretty awesome. This is one of those places that I would meet people for a drink, Happy Hour or lunch if we were sitting outside. Other than that.... I thought the food was average at best. Also kind of pricey. Again, this is a great place to take out of towners for a few drinks with a great view. For Me, it's not a food destination place. Bottom Line: go for the beautiful view. read more

As someone that has worked in the food industry, was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism in the hostesses. I want to preface this as this was a Friday night around 6:30pm which is peak dinner rush and I understand they were very busy. We called early and they said they could not take reservations under 10, so we arrived at the restaurant and were added to a list and were told 10-15 minutes. We sat down and waited for them to text us that our table was ready as we proceeded to see several groups of people walking in being seated right away. After 20 minutes, we went up to the host stand and they said they did not know how long the wait was and proceeded to ignore us and let other people through to be seated. We felt we were being discriminated against and we felt as if the hostesses were playing favorites. As this is typically a family favorite restaurant of 50+ of my family members, we will be going elsewhere where we are not ignored. read more

Out of all the places I have been in Cocoa this year, this is by far the best view, the best food, and the best service. The restaurant may not look like much from the outside, but let me tell you the back deck looking at the water is perfection. They have this beautiful koi pond as you come in the door. The owner if he's around will even tell you about the fish, which is nice. The service was excellent, and personable. The happy hour specials are well worth the trip alone. The food was delicious and plentiful. No one at my table walked away hungry or unsatisfied. I will definitely revisit this restaurant again and again. read more

The food was so well done from apps to main courses! I am not a huge fan of seafood so I opted for the Buffalo chicken wrap but my family said the seafood was cooked to perfection. Our waiter, Craig, was so personable and helped with deciding on what to eat/drink. The location is an added bonus! There are plenty of views of the water (intracoastal), indoor and outdoor seating, and plenty of TVs to watch the games on. Very much enjoyed our dinner! read more

we entered the melbourne squid lips ready for some drinks and apps and a good time. the first thing we noticed when we entered the indoor bar was a lack of cleanliness in the establishment. For example, when we were delivered menus by the bartender, the menus stuck to the bar. Upon further investigation, the entirety of the bar was covered in a sticky residue that was not even able to be cleaned with a napkin and some water signifying that it was a build up on the bar. further, we ordered rum runners and granted those were pretty good. can't complain about a a good drink. however, then comes the food. we stuck to some shareables. the first item we ordered was the baja tacos. first bite... all breading. well sometimes that happens. but we kept eating and soon realized that the tacos were not only cold but featured a minuscule amount of fish which one would be entitled to with a name like baja FISH tacos. the second appetizer that we ordered was the tuna tartar. first of all, false advertising alert! tartar is described on google as a "finely chopped" dish. what came out on the plate can only be described as diced. now this could almost be forgiven, if it weren't for the rest of the dish. one would think, when this dish was presented to them that it would be a nacho-like-dish. however, after a few bites we realized that the bed of chips was potato chips. i'll let that sink in. raw tuna on a bed of potato chips. and not to mention this strange concoction is loaded with a plethora of thick sauce that made the dish soggy within minutes. the mussels were alright. with all that said, the service was great and prompt. we did not catch the female bartenders name but she was very kind and accommodating. read more

Came to town for the week with about 6 other friends from college and came to eat our last dinner together at Squid Lips. It definitely did not disappoint. We shared the calamari (delicious) and for my entree I had the stuffed shrimp, mashed potatoes, and veggies. I really enjoyed my meal. My boyfriend got the peel and eat shrimp and it was really good! Not too flavorful but still good. My favorite part of our experience was the great service and the AMAZING frozen pina colada. I saw someone got one with strawberry swirl here on Yelp and it was so tasty and refreshing in the heat. We sat outside and enjoyed the great music playing over the speakers. Then we hit the dock out back to take in the scenery. All in all, great place to get a drink, some seafood, and take in the views. read more

Arrived at 5:15 and told it would be a 20 minute wait. After 35+ minutes went to check and make sure we had the correct phone number on file to text because multiple tables for seven were available. We were told it was because the servers were behind and needed to catch up. Meanwhile my wife and our friends from out of town waited at the bar to get a drink for more than 40 minutes without ever getting served. Finally as we were leaving (roughly 6:05) they sat us. We then sat there for another 5-10 minutes with no server in sight. Seeing how the night was going to go, we left right as the waitress showed up with her surprised face. We got right in at the pig and whistle (call out to them, they were amazing). Squid Lips- if you can't handle your customers then just tell them at the door. Trapping us for an hour with a promise of 20 minutes was criminal and embarrassing since we talked it up to our friends. This place was a complete shit show. Never saw anyone actually in charge, and a near child was controlling all the seating (poorly I might add). Avoid this place for a while until they figure out what they are doing because there is currently something seriously wrong with the management of this place. read more

We were very happy with our return to Squid Lips after 5 years. Great ambiance at waters edge and Natalie was a top notch server. Mussels were sweet (ask for minimal garlic) and every one open. Brittany is a creative and experienced bartender who always provides top shelf attentive service to her guests. She is fun, vivacious and makes great cocktails, whether you order a tropical tiki bar type drink or something a bit more complicated like a Boulavardier Highly recommend you stop by Squid Lips if you're in the Melbourne area. The only reason I'm giving this place one star is for the oysters. The pain killer and the naughty monkey drinks were by far some of the worst drinks I have ever had in my life. The service was miserable, as Annie would ask a question, seem uninterested and walk away before we could answer most of the time. It really seemed like the entire staff was in the weeds with no manager in sight. The $6 Jameson and coke special was okay. There were bees swarming everywhere and it was disgusting. The oysters were good, but there was so much cheese you had to scrape off half to even taste the oyster. This was my least favorite place of vacation. This is one of our favorite "local" spots! We got the oysters for an appetizer. So good! The house dressing is an orange vinaigrette and worth trying! For entrees we got the fried shrimp basket, key west combo, and the salmon (blackened). The batter on the shrimp is nicely seasoned and not too heavy. All of the seafood was very fresh and tasty. For dessert we tried the chocolate decadence and key lime pie. Both were amazing but fit different tastes. The chocolate is rich and the key lime is tart but I loved them both. Craig was our waiter and he did an amazing job! Loveee this location. We enjoy the patio the most but you will not be disappointed by the indoor seating. Just be sure to ask for a view.
