My last Yelp review for 2024. My family was in the Satellite Beach area and yelped for the best seafood restaurant near the Air Force base and Goombay was listed as #1. We got there and definitely a beach bar/restaurant vibe. The place is quite small and you're eating outdoors on picnic tables. Atmosphere is really nice but the cleanliness is sub par. Let me start with the positives. 1) The waitress provided great service and was very patient with us on the ordering. 2) Food: the fish and chips was good. Tasty, Not greasy and crispy. The shrimp po boy is cooked nicely and taste is good. The highlight are the waffle fries and sweet potatoes tots. 3) the food cooked and served in a timely manner. Now the negatives. 1) the steak skewers. Very tough and bland. 2) the seafood bisque. It wasn't a bisque and very watery. I think it was microwaved and wasn't cooked fresh. 3) sweet ice tea. I can tell it was brewed but wasn't made that day and wasn't sweet. 4) You get 1 small tartar sauce. If you want additional sauces, it's $1 extra (each). Why? You get 3 large pieces of fish in an order of fish and chips but a small amount of tartar sauce which covers one piece. 5) $$$ I like supporting local mom and pop type of restaurant but the prices are a bit on the expensive side. My family goes to the AFB commissary on a daily basis. We may comeback for the fish and chips but will bring our own tartar sauce. read more

The atmosphere was 'beach club with live musician', a musician who encouraged lively audience participation. Despite a packed house, the servers were friendly and kept our glasses full. The back of the house was likely overworked. It took a LONG time for us and those at other tables to get our food, yet when our meals finally arrived, they were hot and delicious. Based on my experience, you should request extra spice in the gumbo (it was likely made for the masses and was merely good). The good here far outweighs the bad - I'd definitely come back! read more

Ate outside...breeze from across the street where the beach was, palms swaying, island vibes playing from a local duet doing Bob Marley, UB40, Jimmy Cliff... I ordered some Shrimp and Mahi Spring Rolls to start and a Grilled Mahi Sandwich, me, I had a Poke Bowl with seared Tuna. Great ambiance, local favorite. Love, love, love this place. Maddie was an exceptional waitress. We scored a table for 5 towards the back. We heard it's a local favorite and they had some amazing options that fit everyone in the group. I got the Seafood a la GOOMBAY. It was perfect and delish, I upgraded to veggies as my side. Hubby got the Al's Cajun Angels, my mom got the wings, dad got the fish and chips...and everyone was really happy. Great selection of beers including Intercoastal (local brewery). We parked here at random, trying to figure out what beach we wanted to go to and it ended up going in. Glad we did! we had a great time! The restaurant is pleasantly beachy/touristy which was just what we wanted. The waitstaff was really helpful and friendly, they made sure we knew what came with our entree so we didn't accidentally order a side of rice. My husband and I shared an entree with pulled pork service on tostones with mango salsa. It also came with a sweet teriyaki sauce. It was an interesting combo all together. Not something I would have imagined, but tasty! It came with carribean rice which was also quite good. We ordered a side of sweet potato fries after finding out that we were getting rice with the entry. The sweet potato fries were not my jam - as soon as I tasted the cinnamon I was not that interested - but my husband liked them... and I understand lots of people like that combo, but no thank you. My husband got a cocktail with orange juice and peach schnapps. which he enjoyed, but I can't find the name of on their website. However, this is not beachside. There is a highway and some fancy condos or a hotel or something between you and the beach. We ate outside, and the highway is a bit loud. Still a great restaurant, but beachside is a stretch. read more

We were excited to finally try Goombay's. We usually give a restaurant two visits before making a decision to never go back, but Goombay's only took one visit. I guess if you want to sit at the bar and drink, this would be the place for you. If you are wanting good food and service, well, there are lots of other places that want your business. read more

We have loved coming to Goombay's for years now. The servers are always super nice and we have enjoyed the live music. This is not a super fancy restaurant with high end food. It's an approachable, beach side spot where you can eat outside and hear the ocean nearby. The wedge salad, sandwiches, and grilled fish are pretty consistent when we have visited. I had a very good experience here. My server was so nice and polite. She was VERY FRIENDLY and welcoming! The ambiance of the seating was amazing. I felt very comfortable and relaxed. I ordered the Mac & cheese and also some gumbo. It was pretty good. I am giving this 5 stars based on the service alone!! read more

Had to pull the fish off the bun it was just too big and messy. The rice complimented the fish very well instead of fries. The Cuban sandwich was amazing! Our server was fantastic, the restaurant was a typical beach style establishment. read more

This place has a beachside vibe ( laid back and friendly). We stopped in here for lunch on a Wednesday. It was not crowded and the service was great. We ordered a cup of gumbo and a cup of the seafood bisque. Both were phenomenal. We also shared a bowl with Mahi Mahi with Blackened season, which tasted great. Bidenomics has definitely taken this place over. We ordered the wedge salad to go and waited to open it until we got home. Previously it was cheaper and 1/4 head of iceberg lettuce was more and able to feed 2 adults. Now it's not close to a 1/4 head and the cherry tomatoes were old looking and rotten. It cost me $16.22 We used to do take out all the time and like this place, but maybe not anymore. Update: I called to find out if there was a mistake with the lettuce and rotten tomatoes because that definitely does not seem like this was the norm from our past visits. After speaking with the woman she informed me that she's by herself and she would've rectified it if prior to me posting Yelp. However, we live over a half hour from her location. She made it sound like it's my vault for posting this review. If tomatoes weren't rotten I wouldn't even post this. Do it right the first time I always say and they weren't even busy. read more

This place has a history of hospitality and welcome. The Goombay's staff is a true team and they get things done. I have been going here on and off for 7 years and I have been rarely if ever disappointed. Fresh food, live music on many nights, and a sense of home as you sit at the bar or at a table with newfound friends after a long day. My brothers flew down from PA and settled in like family. The egg rolls were delicious and a great way to start off my meal. We sat outside and enjoyed the wonderful Caribbean vocalist, Charlie, playing tropical drums. My Happy Hour Sweetwater Mango Kush was refreshing as the breeze kept me cool in this Florida heat. The server was extremely friendly and informative, as this was my first time at Goombay's. Portions are large and I was extremely pleased with my two tacos a la carte. I love heat, but their extra spicy sauce did not pack a punch. So I added some Tabasco sauce to give it that Florida heat, and let me just say, yum yum yum. Skip the fries and try something a bit better. I'll take the hit on that one, but if you're in need of some Caribbean flare with Mexican Asian fusion, sit outside and enjoy the breeze at Goombay's. read more

I decided to try this place bc they have outside seating. It's seat yourself. There's not much parking. Megan our server was great, friendly & attentive. The manager/ owner came out thanked a few tables for our patience. My son enjoyed his mac n cheese. The eggrolls barely had any seafood, mostly cabbage. I liked the remoulade sauce better. The side of black beans were bland, didn't taste seasoned. My tuna was good, a bit over. The outside area needs cleaning. I most likely won't go back. Spent $48 & I don't feel the food was worth it. Goombay's is a great little bar & grill right off of A1A in Satellite Beach, FL. We were in town for a concert and were looking for a great spot to have dinner before the show. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, so we were able to grab a great spot near the window. Our server, Sydney, brought our menu, informed us about the specials and delivered our drinks with minimal delay. Nancy and I both ordered the Mahi Rueben ($14.95 each) and a Dragon Point IPA draft ($5 with happy hour discount). Our meals were out in about 20 minutes leaving us plenty of time to arrive to the show early. The sandwiches were excellent and the side of fries were fresh and crispy. We don't usually order dessert; however, I noticed they had Fried Cheesecake on the menu ($9.95). I hadn't had this since I lived in NOLA, so I was all in on ordering it. The cheesecake was everything I hoped it would be and they even put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on there for us, Yum! If I lived in the area Goombay's would definitely be one of my favorite spots for dinner. The staff are friendly, the establishment is clean, the food is great, and the price is right. We ordered and shared a grilled mahi sandwich, which was perfectly prepared and delicious. The calamari was also good. The conch fritters were crispy and had a good taste, but we're very doughy and undercooked. Otherwise, everything was delicious and the server was great. read more

Our waitress was wonderful. They were short handed and she apologized repeatedly but she was on point the whole time. The food was pretty good; the Grilled Tuna bowl is not a Poke bowl. They used yellow rice so there's that. The outdoor ambience was quite nice. Overall it was a nice experience. read more

I stopped in for their Memorial party last night. I was driving past and I heard music. They had a band playing outside. I sat at the bar. It took a few minutes to get a bartender because they were pretty busy. Their beer menu is limited but I was able to find a tasty IPA on tap. I ordered the Surf & Turf bowl. It came with a sauce (they have a few to choose from) but I told the bartender to "surprise me" with the selection. I still don't don't know what the sauce was... but everything was fresh & delicious. Only things I would have changed: more plantains (incredible) & more seasoning on the beans. Also, I wish there were more stalls in the restroom (but space is limited). read more

Of course I Yelped this place for a recommendation on restaurants in the area near Patrick Space Force Station. I had ahi tuna and shrimp tacos, which were good. I got Queso on both, but I should have chosen something else for the ahi tuna. The Juan in a million nachos with pork were really good. The empanada was ok. Gooms Florida Navel and Bays Rita were good specialty drinks. The fried cheesecake tasted good but whatever was used for the shell was hard to cut into. Oh my goodness everyone, Jenn went outside!! Spent the day on the water down in Melbourne so needed a yummy dinner after all that sun and fun. Located in Satellite Beach, Goombays (that is fun to say) had outdoor seating and good service by Ally! Pretty good beer menu, but some selections are currently out so ask before you get too attached to your selection. Our group started with the seafood egg rolls, it was served with this yummy sauce and everyone seemed pretty pleased. I ordered the chicken taco (you can choose between a mango salsa or a spicy queso). I went with the spicy queso, it was spicy and cheesy, it definitely complimented the taco well. I cannot ever complain about a yummy taco, but if you aren't Jenn-sized like me, you will need more than one as they are a bit small. I would definitely come back, because there are a lot of items on the menu I'd love to try! read more

Best cocktail sauce at the beach! Made from scratch...not overdone with the horseradish and great consistency. Food was all on point. 1- Seafood a la goombay with seasoned veggies. Meaty large shrimp cooked to perfection and grilled mahi mahi. Veggies also amazing. 2- Wedge salad with blue cheese and balsamic dressing. Good size portion with all the toppings. They add an extra balsamic drizzle that complements the salad well....and I appreciated the amount of dressing and toppings. Some places are too sparse with toppings and I end up with bare lettuce at the end. Our server was AMAZING. attentive and friendly. Cute small building with covered outdoor patios that are pet friendly. Fun restroom doors lol. Note, while it says "beachside" it is really across the street from the beach. read more

I don't have high expectations for outdoor beach dives, but my experience here was substandard. The server was very nice. The food took exceedingly long to get even though it was not terribly crowded. My seafood chowder and fried seafood bites tasted very prepackaged. Just okay, but certainly no great find. read more

A real gem by the water. We stopped by for a late lunch and liked the beach vibe outdoor seating. We enjoyed out IPAs on tap and the delicious appetizer Seafood egg roll while we were waiting for our food. I got the Mahi with jerk seasoning and Caribbean rice which was flavorful and divine . The mister had to wait a little bit for the chicken and sausage gumbo to come out but it was absolutely outstanding with big chunks of meat. Total unexpected find beachside. We ventured out to originally dine at another place which turned out to be too crowded and found this place by driving A1A. When we arrived there was hardly anyone there but by the time we left it was busy both inside and outside. Parking was easy as they have their own lot. You can choose indoor or outdoor seating and it's all first come first served. Our waitress was awesome. Very friendly and gave us time to look over the menus. I was torn between the Black and Blue burger or the rice bowls. She explained that I couldn't go wrong with either choice. I ended up choosing the Mahi Mahi rice bowl and I had them season the fish with jerk seasoning. It was a good choice. Very flavorful. My son ordered the regular burger with sweet potato fries. My son and I both wanted to try their chicken and sausage gumbo so we each ordered a cup as well. Gumbo came out first and it had lots of chicken and sausage. It had good flavor but I wish that the roux would have been a little bit darker. Being a Louisiana girl I love my gumbo with a darker roux. I feel it brings a different flavor. Our entrees arrived as we were finishing our gumbo which was nice. I tasted my sons burger and it was so good that I almost ordered one to bring home. The sweet potato fries were tossed in cinnamon sugar...who needs dessert when you have that? Lol! My Mahi-mahi bowl was very good too! Everything went well together and was seasoned perfectly. By this point I was stuffed but my son begged me to try the fried cheesecake. I have no words for that delicious slice of heaven. Just don't skip it! Thank me later. Goombay has now been placed in my restaurant rotation and I look forward to coming back on a day when they have live entertainment. read more

Highly recommend this restaurant for fresh food and excellent service. I had the seared tuna bowl and it was so good. The tuna was perfectly seared with sesame seeds as a crust. A good size piece on top of the bowl and I could not eat all of it. Husband had shrimp wrapped in bacon skewers and that was also delicious. You can tell it is a "locals" place and they obviously know where the good food is. The service was excellent and relaxed. We will definitely eat at Goombays the next tine we are in the area.
