If you're looking for one of the best outdoor waterfront spots in Brevard, Frigates is always at the top of my list. The view alone makes it worth the visit, but the food keeps me coming back every time. Their Sunday brunch is amazing great variety, delicious food, and the perfect way to enjoy a laid-back morning by the water. During the week they also have really good lunch specials, and everything I've tried has been fresh and flavorful. Between the waterfront seating, relaxed atmosphere, and consistently good food, Frigates is one of my go-to places when I want a great meal with a view. Definitely a local favorite for a reason!

We were driving from Ponte Vedra to Fort Lauderdale today and decided to give this place a try for lunch. I am so glad we did because it was great! First of all the outdoor seating and ambiance is fantastic. The menu had plenty of appetizers, salads, sushi, sandwiches and entrees. Our server, Justin, made some recommendations and I went with one of them and ordered the grouper sandwich. It was macadamia and coconut crusted and was the Crispiest fish sandwich I have ever had. My husband had the fish tacos and they also looked and tasted great. The whole meal was a delight.

I had heard many great things about Frigate's from locals and was very pleased when my coworker chose this spot for her retirement lunch. With a group of 10+ people, they were extremely accommodating. Once our entire party arrived, we were promptly seated outside on the deck in a nicely shaded area with terrific views of the river. We even spotted some alligators and dolphins! Everything on the menu looked and sounded amazing, with plenty of fantastic seafood options. For appetizers, we ordered the crispy calamari and cracked conch. Both were delicious and so popular they were devoured within minutes. I had a hard time choosing a lunch entrée because everything sounded so good, but I ultimately decided on the sushi. I ordered the Seminole Roll: krab, spicy tuna, topped with tuna, tempura flakes, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and sriracha. It was one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. They were also huge! I saved half for lunch the following day. A few of my coworkers ordered the grouper sandwich, and it looked incredible as well. Everything was very fresh, and the portions were generous. Considering the size of our group, I was very impressed with the speed of service. Everything was flawless, and our server was fantastic. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I look forward to coming back for a date with my hubby. It's hard to resist the food and those beautiful waterfront views.

What a beautiful tropical setting for a casual lunch on a Friday afternoon! We stopped by while driving through Florida, and we were fortunate to find Frigates. I had the tacos and an iced tea, but the best part was really the beautiful environment and the wonderful service from Justin. This restaurant is what enjoying Florida is all about - sunshine, palm trees, a waterfront location, with wonderful food and great service. There are so many seating locations within the restaurant that all patrons should be able to find their happy place, weather inside in air conditioning, or outside in nature. Pricing is quite reasonable, averaging just about $30 per person all in, including tip, tax and drinks. Everybody at the restaurant was extra kind in notifying us that the tip/service fee is included in the bill, the service was so wonderful that we tipped a little extra to recognize the quality of their staff. If I lived in the Melbourne area, I'd certainly be there more often - for us, I'll just make sure to stop by every time we pass through town.

Outdoor patio is absolutely gorgeous! Overall a nice place, get a seat outside if you can! I ordered the macadamian crusted snapper, it was overall good, the cheesecake banana foster was very good.

Taste: 4/5 Value: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Came here to try their brunch and left very impressed! Brunch is all you can eat and provides a ton of different options in different areas of the restaurant. Lots of tasty different things to try and a really nice lively atmosphere with views of the water. I can't speak typical lunch and dinner experiences here, but we'll definitely be back for brunch!

Our first time here. Was a little breezy on the water. We ordered some apps first then ordered the meal. I hade a pineapple mule. They were awesome. The shrimp risotto was delicious with a salad on the side and French onion soup. The service from Tom was great. , we loved the mustache! Ambience outside on the water was great, Sunshine was amazing and a boat dock . The bathroom could use a makeover but other than that, it's a nice place.

I recently dined at Frigates for the first time, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. The best part of the evening was the outdoor seating--a tranquil view by the water that was relaxing, though sitting outside in Florida's humidity may not be for everyone. There was no wait to be seated, which was convenient, and the service overall was just "alright." The menu felt limited, especially for a place that should highlight seafood. To start, we had the fried calamari. For drinks, I ordered the frozen creamsicle cocktail--like an adult orange creamsicle shake with vodka--which was fun and refreshing. For entrées, I went with the Spicy Mediterranean Bowl. While it included shrimp, scallops, pasta, and feta cheese, the Mediterranean label felt more like a stretch than a true description. My husband ordered the grilled salmon, which he enjoyed. We had planned on dessert and chose the flourless chocolate cake, but our server presented the check without even asking if we wanted dessert. When the cake finally came out, our spoons were placed directly over the chocolate syrup--making them sticky and messy to use. After asking for clean spoons, we weren't even offered an apology, which felt careless. Overall, while the setting was nice, the food and service didn't impress, and I don't see us returning for a second visit.

This restaurant is magical. The setting on the water cannot be beat. I called to make a reservation for my daughter's graduation celebration. The service and friendliness of every employee you encountered was warm and genuine. The food was outstanding, there were 13 of us and everyone loved their meal. It was a special meal for sure. Don't miss this place, it is a gem. One last thing, at the end of dinner my daughter's boyfriend proposed in the perfect setting on the dock, the entire restaurant cheered when she said yes!! We couldn't have picked a better restaurant!! Thanks to everyone for making it special!!

We keep coming back! We made reservations (YES!! THEY FINALLY TAKE RESERVATIONS THROUGH OPENTABLE) for a party of 6, as we had company from out of town. Despite the reservation, we still had to wait 15 minutes outside in a crowded area without nowhere to sit. *sigh* I do hate when reservations aren't really reservations. They're just taking everyone as they come in. You only THINK you have a reservation. It's very frustrating. If you know you have XX number of reservations for a certain time and you only have so many tables - don't sit people without reservations! It's a bother. You could tell they were overbooking or over seating, because when we got there 5 minutes early for our reservation there were 4 groups in front of us. We had to wait for all of them to be sat before we were sat. Boooo. But, beyond that, we had a great time. Skipped the tomahawk this time to avoid any over or undercooked sadness. I had the Chili Salmon, husband had the Filet mignon, guests had fish and chips, macadamia snapper, and parmesan grouper - everyone was very happy! All the food came out perfectly prepared and beautiful. Enjoyed key lime pies and salted caramel cheesecake. Delish! Our server Carlie (I think!) was fantastic too. So friendly and got everything perfect. Because we were sat late, we missed the light for a pier walk and the sunset. I guess I know next time not to trust the reservation system.

You would never know from the outside that you would step into such a beautiful outdoor space. Every single staff member we encountered, even in passing was friendly and greeted us. We had two servers that were attentive. We started our meal with a land shark beer and a pineapple mule that was delicious and refreshing For appetizers we had the Crispy calamari there were criapy yet tender inside tossed with battered fried cherry peppers and served with Mariana on the side. Didn't care for the Mariana it was too sweet for me. But you could tell it was house made. We also had the Cracked Conch, super tender perfectly fried served with a remoulade sauce. That was the best fried Conch I've ever had. For our main courses we had the Fish and Chips and Macadamia Snapper. Both perfection. Delicous and generous portions For dessert i tried the New Orleans Bread Pudding. Beautifully presented dessert wasn't my favorite. I must go to restaurant a hidden gem.

We had been here a few times. The first time we went, we were stunned by the view with the sunset and how beautiful the property is. I went with my parents and my husband. My husband and I split the tomahawk... it's was $75 and DELICIOUS. We came back a couple months later and the tomahawk was mainly fat, smaller, and it's now $91. Was a little disappointed but the flavor was good. Great place to go for dinner and a nice sunset view. Justin was waited on us this past time and he was great!

The food was amazing! I had the herb and parmesean encrusted grouper, and the grouper was perfectly cooked while the breading was crispy and flavorful. The spinach risotto that the fish laid on was probabky the best spinach rosotto I have had in years, and brought a comforting feel to the already wonderful dish. I had also had a virgin mojito, which many places tend to make too sweet or watery, but Frigates made it refreshing and delicious. The staff present were so helpful as well! We had ordered a half dozen oysters as an appetizer and they had given us a full dozen and comped it for the blunder. Our waitress was also very attentive, but always at the correct times. She never interrupted us while we were eating or engrossed in conversation, but somehow found the perfect moment to drop in and refill our drinks! The view was breathtaking as well! We had a table facing the river and when the sun finally set, the view of the torches and lights reflecting off if the water was absolutely breathtaking. Overall 10/10 experience! I love this place and will definitely come back next time I have business in Florida!

A Masterclass in Waterfront Brunch…read more I was looking for a great brunch spot on the water, and The Brevardian more than delivered. As someone who grew up on the water and close to New Orleans, I have a very high standard for seafood. This kitchen doesn't just meet the bar; they raise it. The Food House Smoked Fish Dip: This was a refreshing departure from the traditional "creamy mushy" dips. It was full of bright flavor and, most importantly, didn't drown the fish in mayo. Using the house-made kettle chips as a base was a great touch. Crab Cake Benedict: This dish was understated but incredible. The crab cakes were nearly all crab with very little filler--a rare find. I have to give a huge "Bravo" to the kitchen for not drowning the eggs in sauce; the remoulade was perfectly balanced and, honestly, better than my mother's! (Don't tell her!) Caramel Pecan Cheesecake: We finished with this for dessert. It was decadent, rich, and definitely a shareable portion. The Drinks My mother enjoyed the house Chardonnay, and I opted for their signature cocktail, "The Brevardian." It was impressively smooth and balanced. You didn't get a sharp hit of bitterness from the bourbon or an overbearing sweetness from the fruit; the flavors just meshed perfectly. The Verdict: Between the view of the Indian River and the "scratch-made" quality of every bite, this is easily one of the best spots in the area. If you value "Contemporary Old Florida" cuisine where the ingredients are the star, this is a must-visit. Shout out to our server Neil who was exceptional as well!

So we came inside and a good vibe young man told us we can sit anywhere. It was a while before a very young man, a child, came to ask us what we'd like to drink. The manager delivered our iced teas. She asked what we wanted to eat and when I said I'd like the NY Strip medium and could I have a little horseradish sauce on the side she abruptly shut that down. She could have said she could check to see if there was some left over from yesterday. So I asked if maybe there was some left over. She said she'd look but I started feeling nausea about the whole thing and suddenly wasn't so hungry. Her vibe sent daggers in my heart. It seemed to us that she was really pissed off about my service dog, and she visibly treated us harshly compared to the couple that was sitting a few tables away from us. Thankfully, Alli started taking care of us and her beautiful energy was a lot more relaxing. We were able to finish our meal on a good note and even have a little caramel cheesecake. In three years, this is only the second manager that was immediately and unnecessarily negative about my service dog. He has gone to every restaurant and everywhere I go when I leave the house. I still don't understand why so many managers or servers don't understand the ADA guidelines for how to treat people with service animals. Every manager should be required to read the ADA guidelines. They don't realize the impact they have on people who are already vulnerable.

Everything was excellent, with generous portions. Burritos and quesadillas were filled simply with plenty of meat and cheese, while rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, and tomato were served on the side.
