Longboards is the rare exception to the rule. It's a big place, serving both a hotel beach and the public. Some of the tiki intimacy is lost by the big cattle-call menus slapped into the tiki ceiling area. Paradise also lacks a bazillion sports TVs. Outdoors, it's cooler than outside, but not by much. Longboards is located at Hilton Cocoa Beach Hotel. We happened to be staying at the hotel. It is well themed with a tropical feel. There are plenty of tables. You can even eat at their smaller bar area near the entrance to the beach. This particular restaurant does not have a view. On weekends there is live music which was fun. The menu is short and sweet. Considering it is inside a hotel, I thought their prices were very reasonable. Most items were served on a metal tray, and the portions were big. My friend and I shared the nachos. I liked it but would've liked more salsa and crema. Some of the chips were hard. I got the Mahi Mahi tacos. I enjoyed the taco except it was just one piece in the middle. I would've liked a bigger piece of fish. The kettle chips were excellent. My friend got the crab cake sandwich and she enjoyed it. It was thick and crispy. We had 2 amazing frozen drinks, I had a chicken Caesar salad & hub had a turkey club, both were very good! The tiki grille has an entrance that goes out right to Cocoa Beach. Husband and I came here just after 9 pm after a late check-in at the Hilton. It is also open to the public with an entrance to the side where you can bypass the front desk and just go directly to the outdoor seating. Food service ends at 10 pm on Friday's and Saturday's and drink service ends at midnight. We had relatively fast service-ordered the soft Bavarian pretzel and the chicken wings which come in 8-we got the hot and honey which were tasty! I thought the food here was so delicious! It's on the pricey side but given - it's a hotel restaurant and I do feel like the quality reflects it. I tried the coconut shrimp appetizer ($11), poke bowl ($19), and Emerald Salad with Mahi Mahi added ($12 + $10). Everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully packaged. We were guests at this hotel for three days. Longboards was our go to restaurant and oh so convenient! We went the first day, as we were tired from our Universal Studios visit. We loved it! Great service and fresh tasting food! Our waitress that afternoon was the bomb! Confident, attentive, fast and caring! We tried some other places in town, but this became our favorite. Even if you're not a hotel guest, this is a refreshing place to dine, good food and great atmosphere. Beware we j the weekend they have DJ's, or live music. It can be loud. read more

We visited for a couple drinks with another couple. It was cooling off towards the evening and they had patio heaters available. There was an older male employee who put all the heaters surrounding the small outdoor seating area for eating even though no one was sitting there. The bartender Kaya attempted to move the heaters near the bar area which was packed with patrons and she got scolded harsh enough to make her cry. She was just attempting to keep the current customers comfortable which made logical sense. Not a way to treat a great bartender working her butt off and making a smart decision. Felt bad for her and it made no sense what so ever as the whole time we sat there at the bar having drinks oniy 4 people came to eat at the tables and the bar probably had 50 people at it, which most ended up leaving due to being cold. read more

This was an easy stop as we were looking for a waterfront restaurant as our first dinner at the beach. Longboards gave us just what we needed, which included yummy peel and eat shrimp that were seasoned perfectly and the cocktail sauce was fantastic! The kids appreciated being able to walk down to the beach to look for seashells, while dinner was being ordered. There is a foot rents at the top of the boardwalk, which was helpful. The ambience was nice as it sits adjacent to a Hilton. The patio was large and airy with fans, and the large bar had everything we needed for beach drinks, and the kids virgin daiquiris. Service was fantastic but my only complaint was the happy hour music. We got there while regular music was playing over the speaker and it was just fine. As the live music started to set up, he was cranking heavier alternative music, really loud through a speaker and right at the patio about 10 feet away. Luckily, we were getting our check and only had to endure this for a few minutes but my suggestion is that they ask the musicians to recognize their demographic, and to turn down the volume so we can have some dinner conversation. We are semi-frequent customers here for the ambiance and the food. We come during beach season from further inland doing the beach and then hopping over for some food. My husband has gotten the fish tacos multiple times and LOVES them! Looks forward to them! This was our first visit since fall and one of his fish tacos had a scallop sized piece of fish. No joke. That's it. It's a $10 taco. He's not the type to complain at all, but decided to say something since they're so pricey. This is where things went south. The server just waved her hand and said that's how they come and walked away. So we waved down someone else and asked for the manager. Another server comes to our table a few minutes later and tells us they're bringing another piece of fish for his taco. Problem solved. But then our server returns to tell they're not bringing us anything and scolds my husband, asking him if he expects to have it taken off his bill when he's already eaten half of it. It was unexpected and frankly, disappointing. She made a point of telling him that they (the kitchen) were not going to just send out a piece of fish (not sure of the logic) and that other people's tacos had just as much (little) fish. Although he tried to explain that he has had this dish many times and the other taco was fine, she just wasn't interested and my husband just gave up because it's just not worth the battle and she was painting him to be someone who was asking too much. That is not my husband at all! My burger was ordered med well and came med rare, but I said nothing because I didn't want to add to the issue. We never had a manager come to our table, don't believe any manager was ever talked to, and definitely left us speechless with how this was handled. We like this place and will come back and hopefully they'll redeem themselves. Any restaurant deserves a second chance. My family's ordered shrimp meal and chicken pasta meal. They loved theirs. We had a nice pina coladas and my mom ordered something fruity Mixed drink, sorry don't remember name, but she loved it. If you're staying at the Hilton hotel and looking for a place to have lunch outside on the patio, this is a decent pick. The lunch prices are fairly standard ($12-15 for an entree), and they have a good happy hour with about 5-6 discounted appetizers, including coconut shrimp, nachos, hummus & pita, and drink specials from 4-7 pm. There are better restaurants elsewhere, but if you're looking for convenience or a decent happy hour, this will do the trick. The service can be a bit slow here so if you're in a hurry, so just be warned if you are impatient or dining with a toddler/kids. Especially during happy hour where they are slammed and the ratio of servers to patrons is not very high. I had a blackened mahi mahi sandwich ($13) for lunch and thought it was just okay - I've had better sandwiches elsewhere. It had a piece of lettuce, tomato, and red onion, and chipotle mayo, and it comes with chips unless you want to pay $2 to upgrade to the salad, fries, or fruit cup. The size of the sandwich wasn't particularly big either and I was a bit hungry after. The one saving grace was my son loved his piece of grilled mahi mahi (with dairy and egg allergies, everything off the kids menu was off-limits for him). They didn't upcharge me an arm and a leg for a piece of fish for him, unlike some other restaurants I've been to with him. The coconut shrimp for happy hour was a good deal, and I really enjoyed this and would definitely come back for happy hour almost every day if I stayed at this hotel again. And it's a plus the seating is outside so you can enjoy the nice breeze and ocean from the patio. read more

I'm just back from a 4 night stay at Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront. Longboards Tiki Bar & Grill is one of their on site dining choices. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The staff are exceptionally friendly, kind, and accommodating. Both Casey and Michael were stand out servers during my stay. On the last night there, our group of 20 all ate together and Michael not only gave us excellent service with a smile, but went above and beyond in helping us pull off a surprise birthday dessert for one of the people in our group. I can't say enough good things about the stay and the exceptional service from the whole staff. read more

We were starving after a day outside without breakfast or lunch, so we decided to eat here at the hotel's outdoor restaurant (we tried several restaurants nearby last night before finally finding one open that we could get into without a reservation--Cafe Playa which is Cuban). We sat ourselves at the only open table; it still needed to be wiped off. Our server was good to get our drink hen dinner orders quickly. The food was great: cheeseburger, French dip sandwich, cheesy fries with bacon, sour cream and chipotle mayonnaise, then chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Oh, and Cokes and coconut coladas. They dropped the sides of the tiki hut to protect a little from the cold wind. A live musician played the guitar and sang which was much better than the loud rock music they were playing. read more

We returned here since our last visit four years ago, and had another good experience, which exceeds expectations for a hotel restaurant. It's a comfortable vibe kicking back with rum drinks and lunch on the patio. I welcomed the kale salad with chicken added after eating many days of fried food.
