Had a nice lunch today and Boardwalk bar. Our server was super attentive and kind. This is a great spot right on the pier so the views are fantastic. The menu is a decent size. Over half of the menu is seafood/fish so keep that in mind when coming here. For lunch I had a salmon roll and fries. The salmon was super fresh and tasted great. My friends had the poke bowl and the short rib Mac and cheese. Both of them really enjoyed meals. The only down side for me is the drink options, not much outside of rum and super sweet cocktails. Sat down at around 9pm and was greeted immediately with menus! I'm a diehard chicken fan so I had to try the honey dusted Nashville hot chicken sandwich and that was the best decision I ever made! Might have been the best I've ever had. First impression was how big it was LOL but the heat wasn't too much at all & the honey sprinkles paired perfectly for flavor. It came with several sliced pickle spears and a drizzle of ranch aïoli (I believe) which was good for me. I'm not a tomato and onion person so I had to leave those out. I love some fries that arent too crispy/dry and still have meaty/soft potato on the inside, so these fries hit the spot! The Beach n Boozy bucket was delicious! Quenched your thirst, tasted like paradise, and could definitely be dangerous because it was so good! All in all this is a great hang out for beachgoers. I had a great time, but I believe it was probably because of the folks I was sitting around. Quite a bit of the music didn't have lyrics, but just island type vibes of popular songs and it wasn't too loud, which can be good if you're trying to talk with somebody without yelling. I went when it wasn't too busy, but I'm sure seating could be an issue during the day when there's more foot traffic. Not sure why the rating is so low. We parked in the 2.50/hour city parking and walked right up the pier. We walked past the hot dogs and first restaurant to the Boardwalk Bar for a pleasant experience. We ordered the wahoo sandwich specials and the Gator platter. The sandwiches were delicious with a spicy pickle. The fries were spiraled and made crispy. The gator was deep fried and well battered. It has a nice seasoned flavor and the meat was not tough. Went to the Boardwalk Bar on the Cocoa Beach Pier. I ordered a Pina Colada with a New England Shrimp Roll with fries. The prices were $15.95 for the Shrimp Roll, which is somewhat expensive for the size of the roll but expected due to the location. Everything was delicious. Shrimp Roll was served cold though, and I do think it would be better warm. Best thing about this location was the service. The waitress Rachel was super nice and attentive to our needs. Jump off the pier. There's signs saying don't do it but after several of their amazing dishes you can't help but participate. I got away with it only once though because they called the police, luckily I was able to snag a survey board and made it further down the beach. Before the jump I had the shrimp tacos! We have been to the Cocoa Beach Pier a dozen times and this bar and restaurant area always intrigued us. We came on a pretty chilly night so it was a little unpleasant to sit on a pier on the ocean, but the view makes up for everything. But still, I'd say our time there was mediocre. The drinks were very expensive for what they were and everyone could have sworn there was no alcohol in them. The service was bad, the waitress was so inattentive we had to wave her down for almost everything. The cole slaw had no flavor, luckily they have salt pepper and mayo on the table to doctor it up with. The food was pretty good actually, but my sandwich, bun and all, seemed very cold. I had to request mine to be warmed up almost twice. The cool thing was they just made me a whole new meal with no charge! I love the view and my favorite bartenders. I expect a premium given the view & history. So beer prices are okay & happy hour 4-7 M-F is great. The issues: 1) while burgers are really good with cheese and bacon costs me $14+. They've hyped the food with new owners so today I tried blackened chicken: fair at best. I know many chefs who really know how to blacken meat. This was similar to most chains. 2) For New Years Eve paid $30 cover ( yes, 4 oz of cheap bubbly at midnight, + party favors & 3 bands). 2014 was much more fun and cost less than 2015. Band at Boardwalk was ballad band, no covers, would be great sometime but not NYE. Slow so boring. Finally gave up seats and moved to packed Keith's after midnight for a good band. 3). We are westgate owners and we're staying at the Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort and decided to check out the pier for dinner. The Boardwalk Bar wasn't busy and we were seated right away! Our server Noah was amazing and very attentive! The food was okay. We started with the crab and shrimp dip and had to send it back because the chips were stale but the came back out fresh and hot. I thought the dip was great but everyone else was surprised it was served cold. We asked if they could heat it up but weren't able to. I had the lobster roll and thought it was good but could have been a little creamier. The fries were nice and crispy! My husband had the Dungeness crab and thought it was so-so. Be very very careful when dining here. One false move, a fall into a table, resulting in a broken table, and they'll call the police citing a large disturbance from a party of 12, who just finished dinner- a very expensive dinner. Wasted precious law enforcement resources, stated they were going to review tapes after the LEO arrived, after which the GENERAL MANAGER stated, while laughing as he walked away out of earshot, there aren't any tapes. Great spot on the beach some good fried food! Make sure to try their fries, they were delicious. And if you like Mahi, get their Mahi Reuben - it was messy but so good! The portions were big enough that we felt full when we were done but not huge enough for leftovers to take back to the hotel, which is what we were trying to avoid since we left on a cruise ship the next morning. This review is for Boardwalk, but also the pier in general... You guys REALLY need to knock $2 off everything on the menu. The food is... Okay... (we had fish tacos, a chicken sandwich, and a crab cakes entrée) but nothing standout. It's on par with what you'd get for 60% of the price at any chain restaurant. Problem is it's served with a sullen attitude from staff, and complaints about other servers being cut, people coming in for their shift and sent home, and other crap customers don't want to hear. As my dad was fishing by the tiki bar, I sat at Boardwalk Bar waiting for a "to go" (why doesn't your staff run food out there??) order and heard all of this. No fresh fish option. On a freaking pier on the ocean. Nuts. Drinks were $8 each and included 1.5oz of carefully measured liquor. Someone else got a "bucket drink" with lines in the side denoting to the bartender where to fill to. It was less than half advertised. The fishing gear my father rented was crap. Bail on the reel had to be manually closed, took a ton of force to reel in because it was really corroded, and the line was the cheapest junk anyone could buy. The game room was empty, with half the games broken. When I popped in, a maintenance guy was posting two of the same "out of order" sign on one machine (why not just one? Or... Why not actually fix it?) Construction is ongoing, but your new bathrooms have no water pressure (literally a tiny trickle out of the men's room sink), and those working were doing pretty much nothing... Except for the dude fixing a beach shower with drywall screws (it's the ocean... Stainless fasteners??) After seeing how Westgate maintains Ober Gatlinburg, I don't have much hope. One star because the food was serviceable. The rest was crap. Also... 18 freaking dollars for a lobster roll? Are you insane? Lobster is the cheapest it's been in 30 years from bulk suppliers... About $7-9/lb shelled. You probably have to 86 more expired lobster because it doesn't sell because of the price. read more

I agree the pier experience enhances the visit to this cafe/bar (the cafe and bar are combined and we went to the cafe on this visit). The cafe is on the pier and you are literally sitting over the ocean on an amazing old wooden pier that feels more like a sailing ship than anything else. This is not the sanitized, updated piers that are found on the Gulf side, it is a wooden colossus holdover from another era that is just hanging in there. Having said that, the food at the cafe was ok. We had the garden burgers with seasoned fries and they were average, but this is more like pub food in a really cool pub than anything else. If you are going to Cocoa Beach this is definitely worth a visit. read more
