Came for dinner last night, after previously coming over the summer for a show. The show over the summer was a blast! The 2nd floor music venue is nice, intimate, and we had a lot of fun! Dinner last night was a slightly different story. The place was busy, parking fell to the library lot, and we were seated on the first floor. It was noisy and hard to hear the rest of my party, there were 6 of us. Our server was good, friendly and offered advice when asked. She wasn't too intrusive but made sure we had what we needed. The food was... OK. A very large menu that is sort of all over the place gave us plenty to choose from. No one thing really jumped out at me, but I went with the teriyaki chicken bowl, my husband got the gyro handheld. Others in our party got the smash burger (he seemed to enjoy), the pork chop (which I almost ordered until I heard the waitress say it comes medium well, what is this 1950? Ew.) and one more teriyaki chicken bowl. The food came out. The chicken bowl was a bowl of jasmine rice atop a slightly spicy teriyaki inspired sauce, with grilled chicken on top and surrounded by portions of slaw, mango salsa, avocado slices, and chopped cucumbers. I appreciated the presentation being separated, especially as I went to try each item. The mango salsa was extremely spicy (I commented that I had wished the menu disclosed the level of heat, as I am typically on the mild side), and while the mango was ripe and flavorful, the spice made it inedible for me. The fresh cukes and avocado were good (nothing was done to them), the chicken was fine and the rice where not soaking in sauce was fairly well cooked. All in all, a nice time and a nice place to visit with friends and see a show, but I'll stick to eating elsewhere. Reading others reviews this seems to be the norm, where food quality is extremely inconsistent but the place is a fun time. read more

This is a spot to try if you're out in Melbourne! We ate on the rooftop with the beautiful view of the water and the great breeze. The server was super helpful with suggestions and attentive throughout the meal. Now most importantly the food. The potato flight was a fun way to share a variety of potatoes. Came here after work with some colleagues. There was a running group starting/ending at Pineapples, which was kind of fun from a people watching perspective. It was a fun atmosphere. For appetizer, we split the Pineapple's Signature Wings (I had kind of wanted the seared ahi tuna, but democracy rules). They were fantastic! Tender, tons of flavor, with a great balance of heat and sweet. Since I'm from Michigan and the fish in Melbourne is a bit fresher, I had the fish special, which was excellent. It was my second time in Melbourne and had to go back to Pineapples. Their escargot is incredible!! I loved it so much the first time I visited, that I knew I was going to get it again. I wish they served it with more than 2 crostinis but they do give you more when you ask :) the vibe is so chill and the third floor, on a cool day, is soooo nice! Straddling the 4 or 5 star mark for this one, but ultimately decided our EXPERIENCES at Pineapples merit the full 5 stars, even though on the RARE occasion the food was 2-3 star worthy. Gorgeous venue. Love the Happy Hour, Monday through Friday, 3-6pm, but make sure you ASK for that menu because it's not always forthcoming. Service is good considering how busy they can get. We've done several of the cover band concerts here, which is decidedly NOT my thing, but somehow, ALWAYS a good time at Pineapples. (Bring back the Smiths tribute band!) We feel very fortunate to have this uniquely odd blend of entertainment, views, cheap(er) drinks and tourist-worthy food so close by. read more

My wife and I celebrated Christmas Eve here. We sat in the rooftop which has a complete bar. The view was gorgeous. Our food was delicious. I had the "Catch of the day" which was triple fish, pan seared, served with rice and sautéed green beans. Our service was top notch even though they were short handed. Me and my Girlfriend sat at the rooftop bar to grab a drink before we went out to dinner. Our waitress came over took our order for drinks. Mind you we are a fairly young couple from new jersey (23 and 22) so she looked at our IDs pretty hard. After a good 10 minutes of consulting another bartender with our IDs she put in our drinks. After about 5 minutes we were definitely questioning the drinks and they 100% did not have any alcohol in them. After confronting the waitress and her being extremely rude to us denying that she would do such a thing. then proceeds to trash talk us to another waitress as she gets our check, we were charged $20 for two virgin drinks and a waste of time. extremely disappointed with something that was supposed to be a nice time. Traditionally we go for lunch and you can sit upstairs and do open air or downstairs and sit at a table and they open up the big bar windows except for today was a little cool so they had it closed up which was great. Service is always great. Parking's easy. I believe they have valet at night. At night. The building has music on one of the floors or sometimes on the ground floor. It's a great vibe Great food for a Caribbean-tropical- pineapple theme. Pineapple burger is delicious. Get sweet potatoe fries. They change the shrimp and grits to a breaded and fried little square of grits surrounded by a cream sauce with shrimp and some peppers and it's fantastic. A pretty big disappointment. Disclaimer...we were with a group of 20 so...that is one "issue" to overcome but still...they should have done better. It is a long review so buckle up. We met a group of friends here for a late lunch 2...and didn't get out until 5:15...way too long. We just were settling in and people were ordering drinks and we were enjoying the view of the inlet (see pic) and all was well. Our server came to take orders (which, with a group of 20 is always a challenge, I get it) but instead of making sure he was connecting people with orders and the group they were in, he just worked his way around the table; an issue I suspected in my mind. Will come back to that concern later. So, we were chatting and talking and just blowing smoke waiting for our food and such. Food finally came out, for the kids table (about 6 kids at a separate table but part of our group) so I was thinking ours would be coming. My daughter was in a that group so I keyed in on details as she showed me her food and her burger looked good. So they started eating and we waited and they kept eating and we kept waiting. My daughter finished her burger before we got our food. Our food finally came and it was distributed correctly. My wife and I split the appetizer scallops (only got 3 and they were cold...which we didn't realize when we ordered them that they would be cold) not worth the price for 3 scallops. We also split the pineapple burger and fries. It was decent but nothing to write home about and not sure it was worth the price either. See pics...I must have been so hungry that by the time the food came I got into it before taking pics...I apologize. So, food wasn't bad and the atmosphere was nice with the view, and normally places are quick to run you off once you eat. Well, we had to ask the server to give us the checks. He asked us to go back to where we were sitting so he could figure out who should pay for what. Bear in mind, by this point people had moved all around the table to talk to different people so that was a challenge in and of itself. So he brings out the checks and of course 1/2 of them were not right. Our bill had a drink and entree that wasn't ours. So we had to give it back to him for him to figure it out. And, because we were a large group the server automatically hit each bill with a 20% gratuity. I understand that BUT he did NOTHING but bring us one glass of water (never refilled), he got our bill wrong, and literally did nothing else. So, I won't add pineapples to my place to visit again. Nor will I recommend it to anyone else. Wasn't the worst ever but it sure wasn't worth $76 with a tip and that is for 2 entrees, 1 app and 1 margarita. I get it that I am cheap and don't usually go to places where stuff is priced in the high teens and mid-20's BUT when I do, I expect better care than what we got today. The view is great and if that is high on your list, maybe give Pineapples a try BUT you can probably find better. read more

They have live music on Rooftop sometimes but not the day we were there due to the weather. The roof has a big bar and lots of seating including group seating. Good for parties and events. Great cocktails, food was decent. We had hogfish and steak. The fish was good, the steak was ok. The roof has nice views of the water, it's probably really nice on a sunny day but this day was grey and a bit gloomy weather. The inside first level looks quite cozy. I visited this restaurant for the first time a week ago, and I felt compelled to share my thoughts. Sorry I didn't take any photos, I wasn't in review mode at the time. For starters, the building is very nice looking with plenty of parking. Inside was equally as nice, there's an elevator to dine on second floor, there's a sizable bar, plenty of seating and space for a large party or event. What brought me to write this review was actually the food, I ordered a burger that had bbq sauce, cheddar cheese, pineapple and crispy fried onions, and it delicious...very delicious. It came on a plate with seasoned fries which were good too, but the burger stole the show. It was much thicker than a smash burger, and quite juicy. The beef was a premium blend and you can easily taste the quality. The bun was soft and brioche, non-distracting from the quality of the burger. Like I said, I wish I had taken a photo of my brother, but I'm sure there are plenty other pictures of this magnificent burger here on Yelp. The service was ok, a little slow, but the quality of the food made up for it. My dad had the chicken wings and brought most of them home, which he did eat, and he never eats leftovers. Overall, I was very impressed with my experience, Pineapples. The prices are a little higher than other best casual restaurants, such as Applebee's and chilies, but the quality is much better. read more

We chose to sit at the top and came on a Friday. It was not busy at first but filled up around 7. The food was pretty good. They only served TWO crustinis with the escargot when there were 6 snails. She had to put in an order for more bread and they got cold. They were amazing none the less. The view was pretty epic, however the bar is facing the walls.
