Great overall experience. Food and service were wonderful and ambiance was relaxing. Definitely recommend!

Average food and expensive for the portions they serve! Only positive is the downtown location

We were super hungry and came in and sat at the bar for dinner. It's a big, nice space. However, the food was abysmal (and we were starving, mind you). Cesar salad was akin to what I'd expect at a bad diner, and the ravioli ($31) tasted like it came from a can. I won't return. read more

Excellent Italian food. The menu is not Encyclopedic. The variety is enough to satisfy all in your party- pizzas, rigatoni aka vodka, pappardelle with eggplant and mushrooms(personal yum! ). Calamari with a very nice marinara. We were too full for dessert, but the list looked very inviting. BTW the service was friendly and prompt on an extremely busy night. read more

Very unhelpful staff, not nice and completely disregarded my needs. The after hours door guys are great tho 10/10

Perfectly nice place to eat. Friendly staff, there was an issue with getting a wrong entree and a check error and they were fixed quickly Good wine, excellent fried zucchini and mozzarella appetizers. Entrees were a bit disappointing. Caccio e Pepe was good but the pappardelle was disappointing. Sauce was rather thin and quite bland and veal was not as tender as a typical pappardelle. I would go back but would try different entrees. read more

The figgy time tastes like a mouthful of vinegar. There food is very bland. Not worth the price. Wayyyy below the bar for being in the cultural district. The POTATOES taste bad. Ten Penny had much better food. Regardless, I won't be back read more

Came here with a small party of 3. Not busy at all, waited 2+ hours for our food and it was luke warm when it was given to us

We had reservations at 8:00PM, arrived a little late at 8:10, and the doors were locked already. Closing time was supposedly 9:00. A few customers were seated inside. We could see orders being taken at one table, but apparently they didn't feel like taking any more. They wouldn't even answer the phone. read more

Scarpino, this needs to be addressed... She was charged full price for this. I've called several times and left messages with my phone number. I signed up to be contacted by email, and I haven't heard anything back. This is not how a business should run. Please call me at the number I already gave you, or you can message me here. There is a photo but no where to post. Missy Vaughan a VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER! This is my Niece. Che k your messages for her email. Her chicken was raw in the center!! read more

Food was great! Loved the arancini. I had the rigatoni and vodka sauce and my husband had the scallops. We both enjoyed our meals. Great wine selection as well. And our server Dan was the best! He was informative and very personable. I look forward to coming back again! And asking for Dan of course. read more

Excellent Italian right across from the convention center. I ordered the chicken parm, and it was large, perfectly cooked. My wife was happy with the meatball, and teenager's pizza did the job. A bit inflexible on some options - I don't eat pasta but they didn't have any vegetables, and they were out of Diet Coke (I mean send someone to buy out the cvs stock). Would return. read more

This corner spot with indoor and outdoor seating is one of the best bars in the city, AND if you have a pup, the staff are the MOST caring/kind/dog friendly people. For the last few years, when outdoor seating is available, my friends and I ALWAYS take our pups, and every single time, I am more impressed. I can only hope that more restaurants in town start providing an outdoor area and promoting a pet-friendly place! Amazing! read more

There are so many wonderful places in Pittsburgh to dine, and if this restaurant wants to survive it needs take note. The Salumi plate looked as if the meat came out of a grocery store plastic container and put directly onto the plate. Bagged (American) pepperoni and the prosciutto was still 'folded' together like when purchased at a grocery store. With a small effort you can fake a beautiful plate even with not the best ingredients. The pastas were cold and simply not edible. My family will basically eat anything - and no one could finish their meal. The server was overwhelmed and hectic (I understand there was a big event downtown, but the restaurant was not busy). However, once the owner was told of the situation he did apologize and address the experience. This was appreciated, but unfortunately we will not be returning. read more

Three years in a row this dining experience has been terrific. Ashlie served us again and she was fantastic. The food was terrific. Menu has changed as they work through a few things but the options were wide and all terrific. Vegan options were great too. Service was great and food was well timed but not rushed. Excited to come here every time we are in Pittsburgh! read more

Lovely restaurant with great food just wish it was brighter inside it is a little dark. In the pictures I used iPhone night mode. The rigatoni was delicious and our waiter was fantastic read more

Very nice atmosphere. A little loud but lively Service Very good, pleasant and attentive Food Portions are appropriate size, not overly large or small Marinara for meatball appetizer was comparable to Olive Garden Fresh mozzarella appetizer misleading Vodka Rigatoni good not great but solid Cacio y Pepe Bland. Needed more pepe Other menu items must be the reason for high ratings read more

I recently went to eat at Scapino's. The food was good and people were great. I paid with a credit card. Someone stole my credit card numbers etc so great place, pay with cash. read more

Went there during Pittsburgh Restaurant Week. Ordered the specialities at the same time we ordered drinks to make it easy on the server. One hour later, we still had not been served our appetizers. The waiter did not stop my once to check on us. The manager finally did and heard our concerns/complaints. We said we'd pay for our wine and just leave as we were frustrated by the wait (meanwhile, tables near us had already been served and turned over). Manager said he would get us our apps and ensure the rest of the meal was timed. Apps came and three minutes later the main course came. It was Ok but not worth the price. Dessert was adequate. Manager comped the wine. Still, the meal was not worth the price. First and last time at Scarpino. read more

I will begin that I am a bit of a foodie. A bunch of coworkers and I went to Scapino's for dinner. I ordered the Pappardelle which was super bland. my coworker ordered meatballs which took forever to be served and they gave him shrimp scampi. Both of us had to chase down our server to request cutlery because the server never gave us any when she brought the food. The place looked cool but, give me a break. this place is a huge disappointment. Don't waste your time. read more

Went for after dinner drinks with girlfriends... great zucchini fritters and Renato was an amazing waiter!

Excellent Italian food and service. My fettuccine pomodoro was really good, light and fresh. I even had a wedge of fresh mozzarella left over from our appetizer and added it to the middle of my pasta. That made it creamy which was even better. I would definitely return. read more

everything was great we came before a concert. Food was good and service was wonderful, ashley made sure we were taken care of and out in time. We will be back read more

Went there this weekend for a friends birthday. Have heard amazing things the place is beautiful but unfortunately had HORRIBLE service the food was subpar but it wasn't about the food mostly about waiting an hour past our reservation to be sat, no beverages even water for about 30 mins after being seated, no refill on water EVeR. No drink refills until talking to manager and lastly not ordering until wAitress was flagged down. Then waiting until 9:45 pm until we even received BREAD then the meals about another 20 mins later. No communication from the servers staff anyone to as what was happening if there was a problem, it would've been understandable but just disappearing for 30 mins at a time with no communication is absurd. We bussed our own freaking table that's how little we were being checked on. Overall average food, horrible service but they did have a really caring manager. read more

I don't normally leave reviews. DON'T go to this restaurant--I read the reviews and thought it was worth a try after a long day of driving. Cold, tough calamari- mozzarella appetizer (skip it) -half-cooked sea bass ($37!) - watery, bland cacio pepe. Restaurant was 1/2 empty the entire time we were there but we were told they were booked and best best option was the bar. Bar staff was not apologetic when our appetizers were delivered to another party and when they arrived they were cold. Avoid this place. read more

Roolled in late and looking for decent "bar food'. Nice surprise to get good wine, meatball, appetizers and pizza. Staff was over the top helpful. Looking forward to going back. read more

We (party of 5) really enjoyed Scarpino. The service was great and we all really enjoyed the food. We shared calamari and Caesar salad for appetizers. For entrees, two got pizza and loved them - the pizzas are HUGE! Two got the rigatoni ala vodka and enjoyed, although they said it wasn't the traditional. I got linguine con le vongole and it was very good. We would definitely go back! read more

The decor and ambiance are amazing. The smell as soon as you walk in is inviting and smells of delicious Italian food. The service was fantastic. We ordered wine and a cocktail which were both great but the wine was brought to us in a dirty glass which was promptly corrected. The food did take some time to come out which the staff overly apologized for. I had the chicken parm which came out bland and the other meal was the rigatoni which was delicious. I was incorrectly given the ravioli pesto initially though. The meatball small plate was good but the bread could be more crisp(meatball was comped due to long wait times for our food). Overall the staff was great and the food was okay. I'd come back here for a drink but not necessarily food. read more

Great vibe including outdoor seating. We were a party of 4...3 of us liked our dinners! I would definitely return for the red wine and the rigatoni! Mangia! read more

Worst food ever. NY Strip steak with mushroom pepper sauce had 200 whole peppercorns. Margherita pizza had no Basil. They have no "Chef". Maybe an inexperienced cook. Avoid Avoid Avoid! read more

I don't how this is going to survive downtown. Yes the decor is good and service is decent. But the menu has no imagination and it reminds of a chain restaurant (OG). There are sooooo many places that have creative and better tasting menus where your money will better spent. read more

This place has such a nice ambiance and environment! It's the best modern Italian place in Pittsburgh. I felt like I was rolling down some Tuscan hills while eating the spaghetti. Our hostess was very welcoming and the waiters were phenomenal! read more

I've been into the restaurant twice once in December and just the other day and the new menu and food has improved so much. I was highly impressed with one of the new dishes. The food and service was great. We also had a private booth in the back and I loved how secluded it felt while still having the experience of going to a restaurant. read more

Second time eating at Scarpino and honestly the food is decent 3/5 stars. Hasn't blown my socks off but good drinks and pretty atmosphere. However, the true star of the show is the server Dan- this was my second time having him and this time he was in drag for his birthday/ NYE. He gave us GREAT service and was really funny / entertaining. I would go back just to see him again. 5 stars for the true star! read more

Food was average for the price but the aesthetic was nice. The pasta sauce was a little bland and overall the food was salty. Will probably come back but maybe not as often. The service there was great though read more

First time trying Scarpino tonight and overall it was pretty good. We started with some cocktails that were both pretty good. For our appetizer we decided to have the margarita pizza. The sauce cheese and crust were all very good. The crust could have used a little more crunch but overall it was great quality. For our entrees we had Cacio Pepe and Pasquale Parmigiana. The Cacio lacked some flavor but the noodles were excellent. The parm was good too. It came with two large chicken breasts, side salad and small dish of pasta. For me the chicken was a little thick. I would have preferred these to be sliced thinner to get them a bit crispier. I thought the pasta was good too but could have used a little more flavor. The service was excellent here as well. We will be back to try some of the other menu items in the future. read more

absolutely horrible. Our reservation was canceled without us being notified for a birthday dinner. Michelle the manager was vile and rude with no apology and we were put out with no consideration. will not be returning. read more

This place fell short. I have no idea why it is rated so high. Customer service needed some work but not the reason for this sub-par review. The food, was not good at all. It surprised me because it came with such a high price point. I ordered linguine w/white sauce and clams. They didn't even use linguine noodles. It was spaghetti in a very watered down garlic sauce. It was almost like soup. I guess the ambience was nice. But $25+ for pasta that's not even the right thing? Not to mention, wine ran $50-60 a bottle and it was Darkhorse. HAHA. Save your money/time and get some real Italian food somewhere else. read more

Came here over the weekend and the food was terrible. Our server was nice and our food came out fast but the food was basically inedible. We ordered a charcuterie board, mussels, scallops, prosciutto pizza, and papparadelle. The mussels were uncooked and the pizza tasted like cinnamon. We went home and made other food for dinner. Save your time and money and go to the place down the street. read more
