Spritzery is a great vibe, and one of my favorite pop-up bars in the city. The ambiance inside is eclectic and bright, and they have plenty of seating. They have a section off to the side behind some curtains that has really nice orange couches & tables, it's the perfect place to sit and chat with friends! You have different options for service, you can go up to the bar and order or they have QR codes you can scan. The bartenders are always friendly. As for the drinks, they're great! I feel they can be a bit pricey, but they are delicious. I have gotten Aperol spritz's here & then I went during Picklesburgh and got their pickle spritz and pickle Hugo spritz. Definitely recommend stopping in for a drink if you're downtown! read more

I actually hate Spritz drinks, buuuuut I saw the photos of this place, and I really wanted to pop in. I'm happy to report: they have more than just Spritz cocktails, and we had an amazing time! I did not eat the food. I probably wouldn't. It was served to customers in to-go containers, and I'd guesstimate it's probably not their shining star here. But food is food, and there's some here if you're dying for it. PROS: -Pretty good cocktail selection, and it looks like they have a full bar. I was worried that a Spritz would be the only option, but they have a couple Spritz options and then a selection of other drinks. The "other drinks" are on the sweeter end, but they do seem to have a few spirit-forward drinks. -This place is clearly geared towards women. From the social media photo spots and the drink list, almost everyone who came in here was a group of women. It was a nice change of pace from an average cocktail bar. The seating reflects this with most of the seating designed for group seating versus 2-person couples. -I really loved the seasonal decor. I was here in February and they still had their wintery "Aspen" pop-up live, but it was a nice addition to the snow that was happening outside. Plus, with as much effort as they put into this decor, please milk it for as much as possible. I can't imagine the amount of work that goes into this decor (including dragging in snowmobiles???). -Service was fast and efficient, and the drinks were good. They're about $15 a pop, and they were balanced pours that tasted great. Plus, their presentation was A+, really encouraging you to go get some cute photos with the cups. -Choose your seating. Order from the bar (or the QR codes at your seats) and then find your favorite spot. I loved having the flexibility to move around and sit anywhere that felt cute for us. CONS: -I'm guessing this place has some violence/harassment/property damage issues late at night as the security to get in here was over-the-top for a random Friday afternoon. It was well-beyond what we dealt with at any other bar we'd hit up in the area. Knowing there's some active security (and all of the bartenders are women) does make me feel better about being able to drink here while having someone nearby in case someone else gets handsy. This does feel like the type of place where you'd probably come get some drinks if you were hoping to meet women. -Finding the door is surprisingly....challenging? Some better signage around the front door would help. The entire Spritzery is probably really fun in the spring and fall with open-able giant windows that looks suspiciously like doors. -It gets loud - especially as it fills up. read more

Love the outdoor seating area with couches, and the Mega Aperol Spritz in the glass purse is definitely a fun novelty! You can't choose any other drink, but their spritz is solid so I didn't mind. My only issue is that the menu has none of the prices listed, but the Mega Spritz is ~$70 while the specialty cocktails are all ~$15, but I wish they listed them. She ran out of Aperol in the bottle while making our spritzes, but she didn't acquire a new bottle, instead serving us pale spritzes. Stopped here during the holiday pop up bar season for a few drinks. It seemed to get fairly full but not overwhelmingly crowded which was nice. I was invited here through Instagram for "influencer night". It was also "pup night" it was also fully open to the public. There was nothing done for this event. It was very poorly organized and horribly executed. We waited for almost an hour for 1 drink. The bartenders would look you in the face and then look away and repeat this 3-4 times. They would help other folks who clearly had just walked up. It was just so bizarre. The oddest bar. I have never been treated so badly in a restaurant/bar - and I was INVITED. At one point I actually thought we were being pranked and that Ashton Kutcher was doing a throwback filming of Punk'd. We eneded up not even being served a drink!! We left. Had a really lovely time at the Spritzery! I went on a beautiful Thursday evening, where the windows were open and the drinks were flowing. It was busy, but there was still plenty of seating and the bartenders were very quick and attentive. The vibes were unmatched-- I was transported to an orange-forward Italian wonderland! Such a cute spot for a summer cocktail in the cultural district! I visited with two of my besties a few weeks ago and we were very charmed by the decor and the ambiance. Scarpino's is now gone and in its place is a aperol spritz themed pop up bar. We came last Friday at 4pm for their grand opening. We talked to one of the staff and they said that they were hoping to have the pop up through the end of September. Here's the good and the bad. The good: the inside decor is adorable with cute photo ops and fake plants and oranges galore. It's pretty spacious with big outdoor space and plenty of seating at the bar and at various tables and booths. The drinks that I had were pretty refreshing and good The bad: They didn't seem prepared for their opening at all, despite it being pushed back two days. We walked at 4pm and they were still putting furniture together. They didn't have menus printed out so we couldn't order until around 4:30pm. They told us they were being laminated but in the end we only got paper menus without prices that looked like they were made in Microsoft Word. They promised light bites in their online marketing and they told me in person no food until next week. I got the first hazelnut espresso martini of the day per them and they didn't have any hazelnut syrup somehow. Additionally, I tried to get a pornstar spritz they had on their menu less than two hours after they started serving drinks and they said they ran out. They're owned by RMG Hospitality (formerly AMPD Group which was never great in terms of treating their employees right and having good food/drinks) - I was hoping the rebranding would be a new leaf for them but it doesn't seem like it so far. To be fair to them, they just opened and I'm willing to give them another shot down the line. read more

The service was wonderful& very friendly. The food was good. I wasn't a huge fan of my first drink & the waiter offered to replace it when I said it wasn't bad. It wasn't horrible tho and I saw no reason to waste alcohol. I liked what they did to change the restaurant compared to the previous restaurant there. I liked the ambiance & the way the tables & booths were set up as well as the look of the lighting. The menu was a bit small and one of my favorites (scallops) had a couple things I can't stand on it, so I went for the delicious lobster ravioli instead. It was also difficult gif my folks to read the menu due to red very low lighting. I had to let my dad borrow my phone flashlight to see it. Thank goodness most of us have flashlights with us at all times these days. read more

The Spritzery transformed their space into the ultimate ski chalet. Après Ski has been taken to a new level. The cutest, coziest winter pop-up, The Aspen. Located right downtown on Penn Ave. Still offering Spritz's, just with a winter twist. The Winterberry Spritz was delightful, Aperol and cranberry make a great combo! The Toasted Marshall White Russian, vodka and Kahlua with toasted marshmallow syrup and half and half, is a fireside dream and then Hazelnut Espresso Martini was made with fresh espresso with vanilla vodka, Kahlua and hazelnut syrup! All their drinks look amazing, and I cannot wait to go back for more! Their décor is perfect, old fashion snow mobiles and an old ski lift for picture ops, a cozy fireplace with skis, trees, blankets and fur makes for a warm seating spot. Large bar in the middle and tons of tables, soft seating and bar stools available. This will be a hit this winter. read more

Updating my review as I went again last week. I got the fusilli pasta which had broccoli and chicken. In my opinion it seemed like they used frozen chicken pieces, they were gross. The plate overall lacked flavor and was very bland. I only ate it all because I was starving. I also got a glass of Pinot, for 13 dollars. Steep price if you ask me! The atmosphere was very odd this time around. Half the lights in the restaurant weren't turned on and no music. It made for an awkward time since the restaurant only had two other tables filled on a Thursday night. Sadly I won't be returning, hopefully they pull through and make some changes because it really was a great dinner my first time around. Only giving two stars because our waitress was very sweet. Also when I went to make a reservation it said there weren't any available until 845. We walked in at 7 and there was nobody there.. don't go off of what they post available on open table. read more

They have a very nice interior design with lots of windows facing the streets. They're situated on a corner, so if you're seated facing outwards there's lots to look at. So ambience would rate a 5 stars and would be a good place for a date. Signature Cocktails were also 5 star. Not cheap but very tasty. We had the Brûlée Spritz and the Lavender Sangria. Now about the food... nice Summer menu, but a little restrictive. No specials of the day, not even on a Saturday night. We both chose a pasta dish. My friend had the Maccharone di Fungi and I had the Lobster Diavolo. We both agreed they would have been better if they were less Al Dente and less salty. Chewy pasta is not Al Dente pasta. Her portion was much more generous than mine and mine was more expensive. No salad or veggies were offered with the entrees. Salads were ala cart starting at $10. Our server was nice enough and service was very fast for both the cocktails and the entrees. I had to ask for a plate for my lobster tail shells and he wasn't overly attentive. No dessert menu is offered so we were on our way to the theater with time to spare. read more

I had a decent experience at Scarpino, but to be honest, it wasn't the best. I went during lunch on a weekday when it wasn't super crowded & was able to get seated in the outdoor patio with no problem. I loved how the patio was cozy yet elegant & it created the perfect the setting for a quiet lunch in Downtown Pittsburgh without all the hustle & bustle. Like many restaurants, the lunch menu was different from the dinner menu. But what I didn't realize was that they did NOT serve the Arancini during lunch (which was the main reason I chose to diner here). Slightly disappointed, I opted for the Cesare Salad, Meatball appetizer and Cacio E Pepe. The salad was basic (definitely not worth $12), but the meatball was EXCELLENT. It was cooked to perfection, doused in a flavorful marinara, paired perfectly with the toasted bread, and was a hearty portion. The Cacio E Pepe on the other hand was extremely underwhelming. It was essentially buttered noodles with grated cheese (something I could've very easily made at home for 1/4 of the price ). I honestly wish I had chose another entree that could've been more flavorful & worth the money. Luckily, the Lavender Sangria was delightfully refreshing & helped to tame my disappointment. Would I return to Scarpino? Maybe. But only during dinner time when I'll be able to order the Arancini. And I will definitely be staying away from the flavorless Cacio E Pepe. read more

Eh. The host was friendly, but it was kind of a weird vibe overall. You have to order your drinks using the app, which isn't unheard of this day and age, but to me, kind of annoying. It wasn't busy at all, so I don't think a little human interaction would have been asking too much. I'm usually a very generous tipper, but I noticed the automatic tip on the app assumed 22%, and then I looked more closely, and saw that there was already an automatic 18% service charge. I do think it would be excessive to pay 40% for service, for just two drinks that we ordered and paid for directly on app. I happened to look closely at my receipt and caught it, but I think it's really presumptuous and rude to just expect 40% off the bat, when we ordered via an app, and service itself was pretty minimal. I'll give 2 stars because the cocktails were pretty good, and reasonably priced. I just think automatically assuming people will pay 40% service charge is kind of insulting. I might have tipped that if we had service, but to expect it, when we didn't even talk to a server or bartender about drinks... that's quite rude. This would have been easily remedied by simply mentioning somewhere that a 18% service charge was included. It kind of felt like we were being tricked. Just be up front! read more

I made a reservation on Resy for a Friday night at 8:45pm since the prime dinner slots were not available. Walked in right at 8:45pm and the restaurant looked super dead. I guess they didn't have reservations because there probably wasn't enough staff but also not enough diners to justify that much staff. I should've taken this as a sign to go elsewhere. Also I wasn't checked in for my reservation so I look like a no show on Resy, great. SALUMI $25 Prosciutto, soppressata, capicola, pepperoni, figs, burrata, olive oil, balsamic, crostini *large portion for salumi, I wish we had skipped the pasta dishes altogether and just ate the appetizer which is the only thing keeping this review from being 1 star LINGUINE CON LE VONGOLE $26 Red or white sauce, littleneck clams, chili, parsley *I picked red sauce which came with 5 clams which were overcooked and extremely chewy, box pasta, terrible value for $26 RIGATONI ALA VODKA $24 Rigatoni mezzi, Italian sausage, vodka, oil cured tomato, cream shaved parmesean *box pasta, bland sauce, bits of sausage like crumbs so don't expect chunks or a larger portion of sausage, but this was much better than the linguine con le vongole but still an awful value SERVICE: Our server disappeared for 25, yes 25 minutes at the end of our meal and we could not close out our check so we were stuck just waiting. I didn't see any managers walking around and other staff just zipped by us every time we tried to flag someone down. We gave up and sat in silence from frustration. No I absolutely do not recommend eating at this restaurant. I could make better pasta as at teenager. read more

We ordered garlic bread and it was legitimately burnt! Pics are attached! The frito misto was served with Mayo to dip lol My husband lives Italian food, specifically chicken parm. The great thing about chicken parm is that it's pretty hard to mess up. I've never in my life heard my husband say he doesn't like a chicken parm dish. Scarpino was the first! It was a generous heaping pile of perfectly fried calamari rings and tentacles I had the seared scallops on cheesy polenta. It came with dressed arugula but that was served on the polenta. I liked Ten Penny, which was a frequent stop when I worked at a company just across the street from here, but I really love Italian and couldn't wait to visit Scarpino. I used Resy to make a reservation for 7 p.m. on a Sunday and specified in a note that we were hoping for seating in their beautiful outdoor space. We strongly prefer outdoor dining right now, plus the weather has been so beautiful, that when Resy sent my confirmation the day before I thought I'd call to confirm that. The gentleman who answered said he had my request noted and it was no problem, they should be able to accommodate us. So Sunday, we arrive about 7:08, not the best form but we had a tough time finding street parking which I'd hoped to do over a garage as that's free on Sundays. And there is no greeter, and a couple is walking in and we hear them be told that the kitchen is closed. I'm stunned and mention our reservation. An employee says he will get his manager, who turns out to be David, the absolutely charming owner of this place. David says he will accommodate us but that he's not sure why online allowed that reservation time, because he typically makes the last reservation for Sundays no later than 6:45. Good to know, appreciated, and I will likely call this restaurant for my reservations in the future (though I'm not sure why the person who answered Saturday didn't tell me this!). We are seated at their beautiful outdoor space, which has individual tables with overhead coverings and lush faux greenery backgrounds and carpets. I have been wanting to try the Cacio Pepe here so ordered that, and my dining companion ordered the Chicken Parm (Pasquale Parmigiana). My dish was delicious and a little different than I've usually had it with the addition of some ricotta whey and the use of fresh bucatini pasta. I'm a vegetarian but the chicken parm looked incredible, smothered in cheese and with a side of bucatini. I was torn between the brulee spritz and lavender sangria for a cocktail and server Ashlie, who was excellent, said her favorite was the spritz, and she doesn't care for lavender but that's very popular. I do like lavender and went with the sangria, which was tasty, but I usually take server recommendations as they know their menu and wish I'd tried the spritz. Next time! Ashlie was also knowledgeable about the menu and didn't need to check with the kitchen when I asked to make sure there wasn't anything non-vegetarian in their Cacio Pepe. Throughout the meal, David visited several times, checking to see how we liked our meal, apologizing for the mix-up and making sure we knew their hours for future visits. I liked how much he cared about not only his customers, but also his kitchen, wanting to make sure they got home for their evenings as planned. He is lovely and so is his restaurant. The interior, too, completely transformed from Ten Penny, looked beautiful and spacious and I wouldn't hesitate to eat indoors here. Cost for the two entrees, one cocktail and one soft drink was $66, about what I would expect to pay at a nice downtown restaurant like this.
