The food is amazing...I go there every time I'm in Springfield.. and the wait isn't long

Food is generally good here but the last two times we went for breakfast one time my wife's eggs were runny and the toast was burnt. This time the eggs were runny and the scrapple was stone cold. The waitress did replace it but a good restraint does not let this type of thing happen. read more

The the fish was dry and not flaky at all my husband ordered the seafood combination that had scalloped shrimp salmon flounder and a crab cake the order from the scallops was so bad that it remained on the fork and lingered after the waitress took the plate away this was horrible . I have been going to this place for several years, sometimes two or three times a week. On yesterday, I had a problem with the pork chops. It was quite obvious that my chop had been cut off, and not given the entire thing. I even showed them the difference as far as it missing the bone that the other one had. Long story short, the owner got in my face and told me that I always have a problem with the food, and if I don't like the food I should not come. He even named a few times that I did bring to their attention that I had a problem, which was very lately. I said oh apparently you do not appreciate my business. I could go on, and on, but I left by saying, I will not be returning to this place! I couldn't get over the fact that he's going to tell me each time I sent something back and what it was. Instead of that being a learning experience, I'm the one who was wrong because they screwed up my food.. they ought to be glad that I have matured, or that food would have been on the floor! read more

Springfield Diner is a good place to eat. They have some excellent food, great service, and an amazing selection of desserts to choose from. My only complaints are is that they don't make homemade gravy, they use either canned or packaged gravy and it's not good at all. They also don't have any Jewish food like latkes, Matzo ball soup, or cheese blintzes. Being from New York I'm used to going to a diner and having everything from every culture. Other than that it's a great place. They do have nice size portions. I do wish they were a 24 hour diner instead of closing at midnight. read more

Had a very weird experience at Springfield Diner today. My husband and I popped in during an exhausting day of furniture shopping. We've been to the diner on numerous occasions. We were seated in the larger open dining area in the back. We were served by a waitress named Melina. Sadly, the worst service I've received. She was not pleasant and lazed around most of the time we were eating. We ended up having to seek her out to add a diet coke to our order. She even brought our check early even though we considered having dessert. The kicker is we have been served by her in the past and had equally as awful service. The first time we can let your inattentive, monotoned and flat attitude pass but this being the second time, nah. A horrible waitress is a horrible waitress. So, after our service since we already had our check in hand we went to pay our bill. Melina joined us next to the register presumably to encourage a better tip or to see what her tip would be. I even stalled a bit by looking at bakery display case. She waited me out lol. She stood there still looking as bored and unhappy as she was before. How awkward! Unashamed, I tipped 10% even though I had intended to give at least 15% or my regular 20%. I felt so pressured and it cemented my dissatisfaction with the service. The food was okay. We each got a cup of soup and my husband ordered a French dip sandwich and I ordered a Mediterranean panini. It was the standard food we typically expect from Springfield. read more

Please beware of this place! They sold me spoiled cheesecake.. I currently have food poisoning and when i called them, they asked me to come in person for a refund. I arrive and they tell me that i needed to bring the cheesecake with me for a refund (no one told me on the phone this was needed). When i said this is becoming a huge problem, the owner threatened me and said "i will give you a problem".. not only is the food dangerous but the management/owners are hostile. Please go to the other local places. This place is DANGEROUS! read more

This is for the bakery. The strawberry shortcake looks beautiful. However, it is not made with real whipped cream and has a heavy taste of hydrogenated oil-like lard. I really wanted to like the cake but it was practically inedible. It was a big letdown. read more

It's a Philly diner through and through. It's got the look, the giant menu, the breakfast all day and the waiters who know exactly what you want before you even ask for it. I got my standard, eggs over easy with homefries, scrapple and rye toast. Excellent all the way around. I liked that it was one big slab of very thick scrapple vs. two thinner slices like you get at a lot of diners. Refills were plentiful. It was a good stop. read more

Ambiance and repeat customers made the place fun to be in - but I couldn't eat the food. The orange juice smelled like perfume, the eggs came out with not 1 but two small curly hairs that were not the length or color of any hair on my body or head or face - so I'm unsure if the taste was subpar or acceptable! Food came out within 3 minutes of ordering, so while I didn't enjoy my meal I did get to get the experience over with quickly. Others love it here, I've had 2 bad experiences - not for me, but hopefully you have a better time! read more

amazing quick service, bacon was crispy but not burnt, they serve waffles all day a lot of places close up the waffle iron by 1pm. atmosphere was not to loud and much space to not feel crowded. if this place was open 24 hours this would be my favorite diner. read more

Plenty of parking at this diner with is located right off busy Baltimore Pike. The parking lot was packed at 11am on a Friday. I can definitely see why. As soon as we walked in we were seated immediately. The waitress was very attentive and took our order. We ordered an omelet with home fries and toast. It was really good. Home fries were really fresh and tasty. They had a display case of desserts but it was a bit early in the day to try some. They are so quick that we sat, ordered and ate in less then 25 minutes. They definitely know how to keep a crowd moving in this diner. I should add that I did NOT feel rushed. Will I be back? Yes! read more

We got the Greek Salad and the salad with salmon. The Greek salad was the best one we've had in a long time. The salmon was brought on a separate plate which was preferred, and it had a breadcrumb coating on top. It gave the salmon a crunchy top which added great texture. Mangers and patience. yesterday after having hot roast beef, mashed potatoes and corn. The roast beef was bad immediately notified my waiter. He notified the chef I vomited in the restroom. The waiter gave me Gingerale without asking to settle my stomach my girlfriend order, food, salad, and onion rings I could eat anything else, I want to pay for my check he tried to charge me for my food that was sour he called the police on me waited from $30 to bill went down to 18 which was the appropriate cost I felt bad for the waiter and tips him in anyway. The wife and I stopped by for breakfast this morning while out doing our Saturday errands. We arrived about 8:45. It was busy but we parked with no problem and were seated immediately. As you might expect they have a huge breakfast menu with every morning meal you can think of. Many of their specials include coffee and a small juice. That was quite a surprise. Lots of places bump up the bill by hitting you hard for the coffee. With these specials it's included. Nice! The wife ordered a Greek omelet and then complicated things with two or three additional ingredients. The waiter didn't even blink. I ordered the meat lovers special which in addition to eggs, toast and home fries included ham, bacon and sausage. Most of the breakfast meals are in the $6.99-$8.99 range. Our food arrived really fast. I mean less than five minutes. It was hot and fresh and the portions were very large. We were two stuffed customers. The atmosphere is beautiful. Lots of glass to let in natural light. We both appreciated the comfortable chairs. I'm increasing my stars to four! read more

Sadly, I have to take away two stars because the last few visits have been very disappointing. The staff just isn't up to par anymore although the food has remained good. A couple of visits over the summer and we stayed away for a couple of months. The place had flies all over the place and we spent more time swatting them away than eating. We'll give it a few more months and then try again. Sorry Springfield Diner, just not what you used to be. read more

UNFRIENDLY!!! The food is decent, but almost all of the servers would likely crack their faces if they actually SMILED. There is one very pleasant server (Jolene) that is the sole exception. Super Nice! Everyone else looks like they are either ultra depressed or they just are not nice. As with other businesses, the work tone is set by the employers, who also couldn't smile if their life depended on it. Seriously, we've tried to deal with it, and it just got to be too much. When you spend a lot of money, week after week, and they don't seem to understand that customer service is more than just bringing a plate to your table, then it's time to go. The servers, the bussers, the Management who will seat you, and especially the RUDE, short, blonde Cashier, ALL seem to act like they're doing You a favor by just being there!! Minimal eye contact, Zero smiles, and couldn't care less about being friendly. Not At All Welcoming. We've gone in enough times that to see that it's not just someone having a "bad day." It's ALL THE TIME. EVERY TIME. These people Don't Get It. We're absolutely done with giving money to these people who aren't friendly and do not appreciate that we're there to patronize them. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN! My husband and I went here for Mother's Day brunch. The waitress hand wrote a note on our receipt that read "TIP $10" thank you. Why on earth would you tell me how much to tip? We wanted to ask our waitress but she did not return to our table so we asked the person up front who takes your bill why this note was written on our bill. He said that it was something they do all the time so my husband ask for him to show us where it was on another receipt and he looked through the other receipts and couldn't find one. She clearly singled us out because we are BLACK. I will never in my life return here. We were not rude, we were polite the whole time while she was waiting on us. I could've left without tipping but I did just to be the bigger person. We asked the manager and he said maybe it was our party size... no sir we had 3 adults in our party so it was no reason for her to write that. I guess she assumed that we would not tip because we were black. I know restaurant etiquette. As for the restaurant you never know who you encounter so treat people with kindness and respect. Don't prejudge someone because of their skin, hair or what they are wearing and assume they don't have the financial means to cover their bill and your tip. read more

I love that this place can be packed, and the managers still get you in quickly. They are very efficient and the wait staff are clean and professional looking. For the most part, I haven't had a problem w/ the staff, so far I will just chalk anything negative up to bad days. They have a huge menu, which I am not sure is a good/bad thing. Everything I've had has been good, but not spectacular. It is diner food. But it comes out fast and plentiful. The desserts are numerous and that makes it hard to choose. For many many years Sprinfield Diner has been a favorite go to, for me and my family. That changed tonight when a cockroach ran across the table while we were eating. Went to the manager with PHOTOGRAPHIC proof. I was essentially called a liar. He said "that is not ours". I walked him to the table, where the COCKROACH WAS STILL ON THE WALL!!! The resolution? Our barely eaten dessert was comped. That's it. At the register I asked if he really felt that comping our dessert was the best resolution to the situation. I was told yes, and that is the first time they had ever seen one. If a roach is all of the way out at just about the farthest place from the kitchen, you can bet the whole restaurant is crawling with them. WILL NEVER RETURN, and for the sake of your health, I would strongly reccomend thinking long and hard before eating there. I took a 2nd picture from a farther distance to show that this is all legit. You can clearly see that it is their wall at our table that the roach stopped on after running across. read more
