Came here twice in my short stay in the area and both times were just fine. As stated, I was in the area for a short time and came here once for dinner and once for breakfast. I've been to a lot of diners over the years, some have been good and some not so good, but this I would classify as a good enough diner. Menu was the standard diner menu, though a little larger than most, but I just ordered the basics (burger for dinner and the breakfast sampler - both were good, though the pancakes weren't the best I've ever had). Others with me had more expensive dishes, but I can only comment what I ate - though their dishes did look good. The menu prices are what you can expect for a diner and the food hit the spot they way they should. If you're looking for a 5 star restaurant, then of course you shouldn't be eating in a diner to begin with. This diner overall is pretty large and for the two times I was there, the place was busy and crowded. Obviously they're doing something right. The waitresses on both visits were courteous and friendly. The only complaint I would have was that the butter knives were spotty, but still clean. The parking lot is pretty big and deep and even during the overcrowded dinner rush, we were able to find a spot.....just barely. They do have a nice dessert display when you enter and if you have a sweet tooth, there is more to accommodate you on that front alone. I came with a party of 40 for a late lunch after a funeral. We all came from out of town so we couldn't go to a local family member's house. The staff welcomed us graciously and allowed us to basically take over the large dining room in the back. All the family and friends enjoyed the food. I had the veggie burger and the fries. Perfect diner food. We were able to stay and chat for over 3 hours - no one pressured us to leave. We all grabbed some of their excellent pastries to tide us over for the trips home. Go to spot if I want breakfast at any point in the day! Their chocolate chip pancakes are amazing, so are their waffles and omelettes. I love anything I get from here. My wife and I recently got the first Covid shot, and we decided to go out and eat inside at a restaurant for the first time since the pandemic started. Because we have always liked the food at the Springfield diner we went there. We were very disappointed at their sanitation efforts. There was no hand sanitizer, did not wipe the salt and pepper shakers between services, and I believe they also did not wipe and sanitize the menus between uses. This restaurant is absolutely to die for! The food is delicious, their portions are incredible, and their staff knows how to treat a/their customer(s)! I came in this evening to order a meal, and I couldn't even finish their stuffed crab and mushroom appetizer! Upon walking in to The Springfield Diner, I was greeted and sat by their General Manager, Mark. (Very welcoming and polite.) He sat me in the dining area, when and where I was greeted by a phenomenal waiter, Krassi- whom has by far the best server I've ever had the privilege of being waited on by. No paper or pen required, and my food came out exactly as I ordered! (Talk about being impressed!) My drinks, appetizers, as well as the whole meal, was brought out in a perfectly timed fashion! I hadn't been to the diner since March 2020 (the Sunday before we went into lockdown). This past Sunday a friend and I revisited the diner for take-outs and enjoyed our food immensely. She had a scallop dinner, replete with generous sides. She enjoyed her entire meal. I had a delicious tuna sandwich, and as always, it was one of the best tasting tuna salads. I placed a to go order yesterday, and when I went to pick it up, the hostess abruptly stated "thank god." I was not late picking up my order. The best diner in my area. A bit pricey - my salmon salad was $15.95 - ouch. Breakfasts come in around $10 for omelettes or pancakes with toppings/fillings/sides. In earing here as I type this review. - The table is dirty with a paper mat just thrown on top of it. - the sugar, salt and pepper containers are sticky and filthy Luckily the waiter/ waitress staff are nice. This is the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Had six people standing over my wife and granddaughter while we ate. No social distancing or concern for our safety. Ask the manager to seat the people and they ignored me. Called him over to voice my concern and felt like my safety didn't matter. If L&I walks in the restaurant would be closed down as 12-15 people are congregated at the entrance. Wish I could use a negative number for the review. Okay, I just did a second visit -- this time for dinner. First, the parking lot is huge. They will always have a parking space for you here. Second, outstanding value! I ordered the salmon. Nice big hunk of fish! And with everything else I got with this $16.99 dish, it was plenty of food. My dinner companion ordered one of their specials, and they absolutely overfed her. The portions were huge. Homer Simpson would approve of this place. Another thing I like about the Springfield Diner was the low noise level. There's no music. And you can have a conversation with your dinner companions without resorting to yelling to be heard. In addition, 5:45pm on a Thursday there was no wait. We got a table quickly. This is a pretty good quality diner. The portions are huge -- more than you need to be full, which is why it's worth the price. The menus are equally as large, with so much variety and options. Anything you what at anytime whether it's breakfast food, simple appetizers, lunch, dinner or dessert is available. They have all the desserts displayed in a glass window when you walk in and the choices for desserts alone is extremely diverse. There's just so many choices, I am extremely impressed. The service is average. They're quick to seat you and attentive enough to get you what you need. There's plenty of seating and the place isn't dirty. Got back from a day trip at 1:30am this morning and had a craving for breakfast. I didn't think this place was open, so we were going to go to the Llanerch or Denny's, neither of which was overly appealing. We drove by and realized it was open so we turned around and stopped in. What a mistake that was. I ordered two eggs sunny side up, buttered wheat toast, home fries and scrapple. One would think it would be pretty hard to mess up the order. Think again. The eggs were good and the toast was good, other than the butter on the toast still being cold. The home fries were bland and somewhat mushy, with no amount of salt helping. The outer parts of the home fries were hard and somewhat burnt. I ate three forkfuls and gave up. The scrapple was close to, if not, the worst I've ever had in my life. It was a thick slab, which is usually a good sign, but then it went downhill. The entire outside was hard, with the corners being hard as a rock. I could barely cut through any of it. It seemed as though it had been sitting under a heat lamp for at least an hour. And the taste? Horrible. After two bites, I was done. When the waitress finally came to check on us (long after we were both done), I told her about the problems with the home fries and the scrapple. I was able to show her how hard the scrapple was by banging on it with a fork. She took our plates and didn't return for almost 10 minutes. She finally returned and told us the owner took off the price of the scrapple ($2 amore than the price of the eggs, toast, and home fries) and said that if they took off for the home fries, the cost would be higher than the a la carte price for just the eggs and toast. I wasn't expecting the food to be free, but 1/2 price might have been more appropriate than what they took off. Had I known how bad the home fries and scrapple were going to be, I would have ordered something other than eggs and toast. Extremely disappointed tonight... Ordered a steak dinner from here to go. I get home to find a cooked hamburger in the shape of a steak. Just pure ground beef!!!!! My husband went to return it and forgot to bring the little salad they send with it and they actually charged him $3.00 for it!!!!!!!!! SMH I am so disgusted by that the most!!!!! Instead of being extra nice about their screw up and at least insisting I can have the tiny little salad for the major inconvenience not to mention gas driving there and back they actually charged him!!!!! I have had many occasions to be to visit this establishment. Are used to be a caretaker, and the person and I was taken care of at the time enjoyed the Springfield diner. Personally, the only thing I liked about it was the coffee. There's cinnamon buns have no flavor for apple pie is extremely bland and tasteless. In my opinion as far as the baked goods go they should look into using a new bakery or getting a new baker. This review is not meant to be sarcastic or unkind. My review is actually somewhat out of curiosity. It's always packed and it has never shown me anything! The food is a bit pricey and they charge you for every little extra! If you want a second pickle they will charge you. The coleslaw comes in a little plastic container that might be a quarter of a cup! Are you kidding me? To each his own I guess. Good evening to my Yelp Family!!! The family visited The Springfield Diner on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. We arrived around 1:33 pm, according to our receipt. Surprisingly, there was not a long line in the foyer. The foyer is usually crowded, especially on a Sunday morning or the weekends, period. One thing that is especially nice about The Springfield Diner is that there is a big parking lot and people are using moving in and out. So there is no long wait to park if by chance you arrive on the weekends and there are no empty spots. We were seated immediately and this made for a fine start, because usually when we visit we give our last name and wait like everyone else. We were seated in a booth and Krasi, our server, immediately asked for our drink choices. Mom and Bro, Sierra Mist and I selected an Iced tea with lemon. We needed more than a few minutes to decide since we were so undecided on our meal selections. We signalled to Krasi and he came over. Mom selected Open Roast turkey with mashed potatoes and apple sauce, Bro decided on roast beef and swiss cheese triple decker club with fries and I decided on the catch of the day which was broiled tilapia (Mom's favorite) I was so surprised that she didn't order that. My two sides were corn and spinach with rice. I had selected a special, so I had a choice of soup or salad. I opted for salad with french dressing on the side and no onions. Mom opted for chicken noodle soup. Mom had originally said she would order a short stack of pancakes but she changed her mind. I also changed my mind because my first choice was french toast. What made me change my mind was because of the special you received soup or salad and your choice of dessert: tapioca or rice pudding, cherry jello or chocolate or vanilla ice cream. I opted for the tapioca to take out. Our food was good. We usually enjoy our experience here, especially if we do not have to wait long. Bro needed a doggie box since he couldn't finish his meal. I enjoyed everything except for the spinach with rice. I wouldn't order that again. The atmosphere at The Springfield Diner is light and airy, I always say that, don't I, LOL! Not a lot of diners when we went, that was ok with us. We received our orders quick! When I was still eating my salad, our meal choices arrived. So then I was eating salad with my tilapia, spinach with rice and corn. That was alright with me!!! Krasi was very attentive and polite to us! We left him a nice tip! Mom was happy since we were originally going to Chick filet on MacDade and we decided to visit here, since we haven't been here in a while and this is Mom's favorite diner. Colleen greeted us- a bit later than some would like- but she was kind and friendly enough to explain a mixup in servers; she took our orders right away as we had time to talk about it in the wait. Our coffee was a bit on the watery side but I liked it. We got the "pancakes medley" and to my suprise it was not fresh fruit at all... it was pie filling. Ontop of that, our strawberries where replaced with cherries (without letting me know). The portions were massive! Just the scrapple alone would have been enough for the price, at $17 for a full 3-filled pancakes with eggs, scrapple and hash on the side, coffee included. Overall this diner gets a 4 star for its massive portions. However working in a restaurant myself I've come to expect: fresh made fillings-1 bucket, 1 bottle of light syrup and fresh fruit-come on guys! After eating here a few times, and reading the reviews on here, I am left wondering if some people have not ventured out of delco. This place is ok, it's very over priced, and the food is really nothing special. I ordered cinnamon raisin pancakes and got crispy (who wants a crispy pancake?) pancakes with some cinnamon sprinkled on them with no raisin in site. The spinach omlette was more spinach than omlette, and not the good, fresh spinach. I would definitely take Java Joe's or the Coffee Station over this place. The desserts in the front cases look much better than they taste, and are definitely not worth the price. Have never been impressed with service, as I believe that I have never received a refill on any beverage without at minimum of a 15-20 minute wait. I understand that most of delco is in here on an hourly basis, but it just feels like they want you out as quick as possible. Maybe it's just me? read more

Food was not that great, had the French onion cheese was burnt. Also ordered a classic Reuben which I was not aware It was open faced with a ton of meat polled on the sandwich and soggy bread. Manager has a crappy attitude and does not listen very well to the customer. He tried telling me that is how Reuben's are made open faces. I started out giving Springfield Diner 3 stars - then upgraded to 4 because of the new-ish, clean interior - then downgraded back to 3 because they aren't open 24 hours. The food is your typical reliable diner food. You can get breakfast, lunch or dinner any time of day and it's all pretty decent. The menu is the size of a small novel so you can expect to find whatever it is your little hungry heart desires. The glass cases in the front are full of delicious looking desserts - I keep meaning to try something to see if the taste lives up to its looks - but I'm usually too full from whatever I ordered. I will report back. The service is friendly and efficient. To be fair, they *are* open 24 hours on Friday and Saturdays. But I like my diners open 24/7 to accommodate my crazy sleep/work schedule... obviously it's all about me and I should be catered to, clearly. read more

The service is horrible here. We sat for 15 minutes while our waitress was talking to her friends at the table behind us. Not even a glass of water was brought over. We had to wave down a couple of people and the supervisor/manager came over to take our order. She only approached our table once and asked if someone already came by. Already? More like finally. After hearing a bunch of hype about this diner I thought it was going to be amazing. Unfortunately, it wasn't amazing. It wasn't even decent. I had one of the specials, the Baked stuffed Cabbage dinner. The salad was good, and the rice pudding dessert was good but the baked stuffed cabbage was terrible. Maybe I am spoiled by good stuffed cabbage that my daughter makes, but this stuff was inedible. The service was good though and I might try their breakfast, only cause I'm a glutton for punishment. Wait, have I really never reviewed this place before? I'm here ALL the time. Not really, but whenever I'm starving and I can't decide where to go, this place always wins. I have never waited longer than 10 minutes for a table. Service is always on point - with the exception of the occasional slow waitress. The food is always fantastic and that still surprises me given the fact that their menu is enormous; everything from breakfast to sandwiches and pastas to seafood dinners. Just make sure to leave room because they have four cases of desserts to choose from. You can't miss them. I cannot stress this enough - THEY HAVE THE BEST WINGS.
