I'm going to hate here for a minute - while I love the decor and locale of this location, particularly the older portion, I've never found the service or the food as good here as it is in their Delaware location. My orders frequently get screwed up or take forever to come out, many of the cashiers are indifferent or just rude (unless they know you, then they'll talk to you for 20 minutes while everyone else standsd in line waiting) and they have some serious I'm-awesome-because-I-work-at-a-hipster-establishment types (baristas, along with tattoo and comic book shop owners, often take themselves WAY too seriously simply because their jobs are related to counter-culture). read more

I have to write a review for spot, but nearly everything about it that could be said has been said already. it's a staple of the Elmwood strip, a great place to hangout and do homework, or go for coffee with friends. Vast outdoor patio space, and always busy and full of life. critiques: not enough chairs/couches at the Elmwood spot. new world records was a great companion to the Elwmood spot and will be missed. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but Spot is a cool place to hang out with good light food. I too wish they had more couches and more seating inside, and that New World was still around. This place was just ok. I remember spot coffee from years ago, before it was SO big and impersonal. This location the seating was harsh, the service was just ok, and I was really doubting the basket of exposed breads and cookies on the register counter for $1. How gross I hate to say it... My tea smoothie tasted fake too. Not real fruit at all. Unimpressed this time with spot. Clean it up and refine to the modern clean cafe feel. read more

This place is so cute! It's nice and spacious with lots of places to sit. It's a classic coffee shop with super cute chairs and couches! So fun to drink a hot chocolate while it's snowing! The croissant wasn't really fresh, but the hot chocolate was delish! read more

Good quality coffee and drinks. I find its hard to find a seat when its raining and the baristas seem inconvenienced to help you, but if you don't mind the snooty, its great. I also like that they have books to read, in case you forget yours. read more

And despite the "free wi-fi" I could never even get on. I'm not in a hurry to go back, and so the seach for a coffee hangout continues! read more

Seems to be a local main stay. Coffee is good and the food is good; however, I'm not impressed with the service at this location. I waited 15 minutes for a bagel and coffee in the morning. Barista looked at me like I was inconveniencing him when I asked where my food was after everyone behind in line me got there's. Great feel to the place! Amazing location to meet local artists. Open mic nights are pretty fun, and there are often scheduled readings that you would enjoy more than you think. The drinks are great. I'm an italian soda guy myself, and they don't skimp on the syrup unlike a lot of coffee joints where you have to order a double shot and pay extra just to get a mediocre drink. The baked goods are just that - good! They do some good looking things with coffee and my friends seem to dig it, but personally I don't tolerate the flavor of coffee and can't really tell you how good it is. read more

Some SPOT is so good whenever you're in the mood to relax with a big cup o joe. I always get theyre caramel macchiato because it's heavenly. With lots of whipped cream and caramel drizzle. MMM. It's a cool place to sit back on the creepy chairs they have laid out and chat with your friends. It reminds me of the cafes that are all over San Francisco. I believe there is one downtown and one on elmwood. The cheesecake is also very good. I'm such a fatty. read more

Spot coffee chains are all amazing never ever ever had a issue and their drinks n food all taste the same so I'm always satisfied.

I used to enjoy Spot Coffee on Elmwood, but the team here has a really rotten attitude. If you go, expect eye rolling from the staff aimed at you if you don't make it up to the counter in 2 seconds to pick up your coffee. Spot Coffee is yet another big reason to ditch the chains and go local. My wife and I were in Buffalo over the U.S. Memorial Day Holiday and doing some shopping up/down Elmwood Ave. It's a really nice area, and we were fortunate to have excellent weather. We stopped at Spot Coffee for a chocolate croissant (really good), and two Cinco Shakes (espresso/vanilla/caramel.) They were absolutely outstanding, and the service was fast and friendly. This location is large and has plenty of indoor and sidewalk seating. They have WiFi, but we didn't use it this time. Next time we'll try some of the sandwiches - everything looked fresh. Great job, Spot!! Hope the rest of the summer weather is as good as Memorial Day 2014 :) read more

This place used to suck something awful a while ago and for years up until they apparantly got rid of the previous staff, I used to walk into this shithole ready for battle just to get my small coffee so i could smoke my morning ciggarette and debate wether or not i should slash all their fixed gear bike tires. But in the last couple months this joint has made a TOTAL turn around, They finaly decided to mop and sweep the tables, so the place is a LOT cleaner. No more burning smell coming from the kitchen that, at times, would make the customer area smokey as hell. The staff is friendly.....seriously, i never thought i would say that. They SMILE NOW....I shit you not. And i haven't seen an upset costumer walk away pissed because Dartanian was so busy trying to get his shitty band an ironic gig, that he fucked up some poor ladies breakfast sandwich six ways to monday. There was a time i wanted to hope over the counter and shove some hipsters galaxy smartphone up his butt with the hopes of it catching on fire while still in his kale coated ass....but no more! I went to spot coffee many times and never had any complaints. . I do not think their coffee is good at all but the worst part was when I ordered a piece of their tiramisu cake for over $5 and got a tiny piece with 1 ladyfinger on the side. The cake wasnt even sliced correcly and was so thin I asked the cashier if this was the right portion. She claimed 2 ladyfingers was cut when it was obviously only one. I never spoke to someone so incompetent in my life. If you cant even count lady fingers how are you working as a cashier and dealing with money. They should get rid of some of their staff. Spot Coffee charges top buck for a bagel. If the customer is paying a higher price for a toasted bagel than it should be buttered when it is served to the customer. There is nothing that ticks me off more than being handed a toasted bagel and told to butter it myself. Other chain and non chain coffee shops butter their customers bagels. If I want my bagel buttered than please butter it or I take my business down the road where I'm treated better and get better service for my money. read more

I'll never return here again. Multiple botched orders & long waits. I'm vegan and they ran out of portobellos, so they just gave me a chicken sandwich with cheese with out telling me. That actually happened to me 2x. I noticed, i mean it was pretty obvious it was not what i had ordered. then they asked me what else i would like, so i would end up getting something that cost less, wasn't what i really wanted, and not get the difference back. If i ever tried to order something with out cheese they would usually ignore the request and i'd have to send it back. Just terrible customer service. I've had more issues here with getting the wrong drinks as well. If you want to get any work done on their internet, good luck. The connection is terrible. I emailed their main office in CANADA & USA about the multiple issues i've had at their WNY locations. Neither replied back. Worst "local" chain i've been too. read more

While waiting for my boyfriend to get out of work today, I decided that Spot would be a great place to sit, have a drink, and charge my phone. Spot, at 4:15 on a Friday, is actually pretty quiet. There's no line, no big groups, no rush. Unfortunately, today was not my particular day, and I only had the change in my purse on me. I'm both starving and parched at this point, but I decide thirst takes precedent on a hot, sunny day. I was trying to do the math in my head, thinking of seeing if I had enough left over to buy a pastry after the tea (answer: no, even a medium iced tea will run you $2.75). I was already embarrassed paying with quarters and dimes and adding poorly, but I put my order in, paid a little awkwardly, did not receive a receipt, and waited by the counter. I watched the people who came in behind me get their coffee orders. After a while, I started scoping out a spot to sit. I found one, figured my drink must be ready, and went back to the service counter. It was empty. So I sat back in my spot where I could see the service bar, looked to see how long it'd been, looked back up to see the customers behind walk out the door, and realized that I was not going to get my iced tea. Most people would walk up to the counter and ask what was going on. I'm not most people. I've had a panic attack in Spot before, which is why I visit so rarely. At this point, too, my stomach is completely empty, I don't have enough money to buy something else or take the bus back home, I'm broken hearted about being treated this way, and I know I can't go up to the counter without crying. In the interest of not making a scene, I waited for my boyfriend and left as soon as he arrived. He was perplexed about why I immediately started crying outside, and when I told him what happened, he went back in to talk to the staff. None of them claimed that they remembered my order, remembered the awkward change count, or remembered me in the slightest. He came back to the car empty-handed to find me still crying because I have this roaring hunger and not even a bleeping iced tea to help quiet it. I describe the cashier to him as best as I can, and he takes another shot. At 4:55, he comes back with the iced tea I ordered at 4:20. They apparently have not changed their minds, but gave my boyfriend my tea to make the problem go away. I drank about half the tea. At 5:15, I threw up in the K-mart parking lot. Coincidence? Update July 2016: someone told me that black tea can make you throw up on an empty stomach, so that last part might not be on Spot. But you know, the whole thing was still so terrible that I haven't been back since. I've skipped meetings at Spot because they were at Spot, the one store in Buffalo that ever made me cry in public. Perks just opened down Elmwood on Bryant. Go there. read more

SPoT coffee on ELMWOOD ave in Buffalo NY has a pumpkin & apple muffin that is to die for. If you ask them to warm it up, they will be more than happy to accommodate you , but it's just as delicious cool!!! Excellent dessert with tea!! read more
