Thin rice noodles with spoon XO sauce, shrimp, corn, and lettuce

I created my own bowl of noodles with thin rice noodles, spoon XO sauce, shrimp, corn, and lettuce. The Spoon XO sauce is a great mix of spicy and garlic. I wish there was either more sauce or more soupy because I felt the rice noodles absorbed most of the liquid and it became very clumped together. Restaurant seems to be more of takeout-based. There are limited seating and the dish comes in plastic container, which makes it easy to take home afterwards, though not the most eco-friendly.

Popped in for a quick lunch at recommendation of family. I didn't realize before coming that it wasn't a sit-down service which isn't a problem. The menu had several great looking items and I was excited to have a build-your-bowl. Prices are quite reasonable. When the food came out, we first were surprised that the dishes were plastic / aluminum despite choosing dine-in. My bowl had Curry Lava (with friend egg) and Lo Mein Noodles. Overall I was not really impressed with the food. The flavors were just alright though the portion was large. They placed all the chicken on top of the noodles and soup, which was only slightly seasoned. The scurry sauce had a little bit of sweetness to it which I found strange. My thoughts are this place caters most to college students and for them is fine. But having traveled to Thailand several times the food here doesn't come close to being authentic.

Thank you Yelp for saving me when I'm told to pick a new spot for lunch!! haha I came across this earlier this week when I was looking for something to warm me up. It hasn't been a full week and I've already gone twice. I checked out their website before heading over here and saw that this is similar to JKogi or Chipotle. You can order the base (noodles or rice), with a protein (chicken, seafood, pork, etc.) and then with toppings. This also has appetizers for you to choose from as well. I don't know about you guys, but I sort of don't like having too many options, especially for my first trip. I'm the kind of person that likes to order a dish (as is) and just go with the flow haha. For my first trip here, We decided to try the pork bun - which honestly was a fried Vietnamese Bao Bun, cut in half, and sprinkle of Sriracha. It was pretty tasty. I wish I could say that I enjoyed it more, but I honestly think I've been freezing at my work office I was looking forward to my main entree. I was ready to pick my plate, but I saw on their special's board of some of their bowls. I usually never turn down a pho bowl, but I saw their "Curry Lover" and was instantly sold! It didn't take too long before the orders came out. It smelt fantastic! I came out with half a slice of a hard-boiled egg (cooked to perfection) with an amazing tasty (and a kickass spice) curry sauce, 4 pieces of shrimp tempura, and noodles base with sliced onions and beansprouts. OMG - I cannot express enough how fantastic this dish was. Afterward, we would take our bowls to go throw out. They did have a recycling container next to the trash so that was pretty nice to see that they are environmentally friendly. It was so good that I ended up coming back (after 2 days) to get a bowl for myself and my coworker. He's a foodie like me and I praised it to him. He requested for a curry lover dish as well. I actually called and order take out instead because I was on an errand lunch break today. I decided on their Gua Bao which is more of mini sliders with pork belly slices and (again) their awesome curry lover dish. They said that my order should be ready within 5-10 mins getting off of the phone! Be sure to be familiar with the street parking. Since I was just grabbing and going, I was able to park in front of the restaurant with no problem - even during the lunch rush hour (around 12:30ish). They packed it well and even after another 30 mins, and bringing it back into the office it was still warm! My coworker at his right up and agreed that the dish was fantastic and told me to let him know the next time I go there again! haha. Overall, the dine-in experience was just as good as my take out. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is pretty cute and plenty of seats to choose from. I'm interested to see if people are going to eat outside since they also have an outdoor patio/seating area. I'm pretty sure that the curry lover dish is and will always be my go-to dish whenever I visit here again.

Pad Thai style lo main, crab Rangoon, and egg rolls

Omg! I am in Richmond visiting family and there's nooooot much in the fridge. I ordered spoon because it looked like a modern twist on Asian fusion. I got the crab Rangoon, egg rolls, Tom yum with chicken, and the special lo mein noodles with pad Thai seasoning. Wow I am blown away. The Rangoon are mostly crab and so light and delicately wrapped. The egg rolls are tiny and cute but you get 3 per order. Both come with a generous portion of duck sauce. The Tom yum soup is not pictured because it was so good, it didn't last long enough for me to even THINK to take a photo. The noodles are perfect. I've always loved the FLAVOR of pad Thai but the thin noodles stick together and turn into a big glob, in my opinion, so the lo main noodles made a huge impact on the dish. I can't wait to try more on their menu. Door dash had it here way before it was predicted. 5 out of 5. If you're thinking about it, just order now.

Because of Omicron, I got this delivered. I ordered the crab rangoons and the unagi bowl. Let's get the bad out of the way first: I was pretty disappointed with the rangoons, even though they had surprisingly large flakes of crab, and were crispy. Instead of cream cheese, they used cheddar, resulting in kind of a mealy, chewy texture which is not what I want when I order rangoons. The unagi bowl was also a bit underdressed, but the Unagi itself was delicious, flaky and tender, perfectly seasoned in a classic eel sauce. The vegetables were fresh. The rice was also well-cooked and satisfying. Overall, I probably wouldn't visit this restaurant again. But it got the job done for today.

We came here on a spontaneous decision and I don't regret it. The place is very quaint, casual, and homey. There are a couple of tables and a desk cashier where you order your food. The food itself was good. It is advertising asian fusion and so I believe they lived up to the concept. There are an array of dishes from noodles to soup. I got the pho and I enjoyed it well. It is simple foods with flavor which I really appreciate. They had chicken wings which were tasty and an assortment of other appetizers. They also offer boba, I got the Thai ice tea and it tasted great. Overall, this is a great place for a stop in, casual affair, or quick trip. The cashier was very kind and I think it is a great addition to the area. I would come back.

This place was so delicious! We went on a weeknight when it wasn't super busy, and the food was prepared so quickly. I got a build your own noodle bowl with tofu, roasted garlic, mint, peanut sauce, and noodles! Absolutely wonderful - and we also got a chocolate mocha boba which was also lovely! I highly recommend going here. It wasn't too expensive either.

I've gotten Spoon about 10 times since it's a 1 minute walk from where I live. It's an ideal location for me if I need food right away. They get the food ready in 10 minutes which is amazing. The downside is that there is only one option that I like, the basil fried rice (Pad Ka Pow). It's important to note that this dish is really spicy so make sure you get the lowest spice level if you don't like spicy food. Overall, the basil fried rice is really flavorful and the tofu is well made. I sometimes get egg rolls on the side which are really good too. Unfortunately, these two items come out be to about 15 dollars which I felt was a little expensive for the portion size of the meal. read more

A friend recommended this place and the picture looked real nice. I drove 1.5 hours to this place and I was sooooo disappointed. The food is somewhat overpriced and serving sizes are pretty small. I ordered the curry lover (instead of the Korean Street ramen because I was afraid it would be too spicy) but it was soooo bland. For a second I thought I had COVID and lost my taste buds. Pot sticker is really just shumai in the curry lover broth. The curry puff is good with the sauce. Also got taro and Thai pick tea. They are delicious. Definitely not worth the trip and money. read more

This little hole-in-the-wall spot is outstanding. It doesn't look look like a lot but the staff is friendly and the food is great. We couldn't believe it wasn't busier - it is a fusion Asian restaurant that delivers on each dish (esp Thai-inspired). We split the gyozas (pot stickers) which came in a red curry sauce. First of all, potstickers in a curry sauce is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I've never had that combo and will now request it wherever I go. For ours mains, we had a lo mein bowl with XO (house sweet-spicy) sauce and a rice bowl with Tom yum sauce. Everything was beautifully cooked and the sauces nuanced, flavorful, and balanced. My favorite was the red curry sauce - I mixed it in with my Tom yum it was so good. Highly recommend - great price, good portions, exquisite flavor!! read more

I've ordered takeout twice from here during the pandemic, and its probably my go-to Thai spot for the foreseeable future. Granted, I'm pretty basic and have gotten the Pad Thai both times, but the fried tofu is legit and so I'll keep getting it! I've also gotten the combo both times, which is a good deal and a fun way to get an appetizer (thumbs up for the egg rolls) with my dinner! Hope this place sticks around! read more

Super cute outdoor sitting area!!!!!!! I got the egg rolls - this comes as 3 small egg rolls and AMAZING homemade duck sauce. YUMMMMMMMM! I also got the pad thai with rice noodles and chicken. It was very good and HUUUUUUUUGE. Overall a great experience - I would go back!!! read more

I ordered from here on DoorDash at 8:34pm. At 8:58, I received the message "Your Spoon order has been canceled due to an unexpected issue experienced by the Dasher." This made it sound like DoorDash's fault. When I called, apparently another driver picked up my order and Spoon refused to remake it (far before closing time at 9:45). This was annoying for me, but it was awful to the dasher who lost out on being paid and tipped. I love the food, but I can't get behind this kind of customer and subcontractor service. read more

thought I'd give this place a try since it was right on VCU campus. it was pretty much a make-your-own-bowl kind of thing, but it was easy to order- they give you a little sheet to check off the stuff you want, and food came out pretty fast! best pro is that there is no difference between the prices in protein choice and you can get as many toppings as you want! the interior was also cute, and felt cozy. I'd get it 5 stars, and I don't know if it was the sauce I chose, but both my boyfriend and I felt like our bowls were a little too sweet. overall, I'd recommend everyone giving it a try because there aren't that many asian food places right on campus, and this was pretty good! read more

We actually had not ordered from here until March, and we are so sad we haven't been ordering from them forever! The food is SO GOOD. Delivery is very quick, which is awesome. I think we have had just about everything on the menu.. everything is delicious. A few favorites are the Gua Bao and pot stickers. I also love the pad Thai with chicken thighs. Probably the grosses Asian food I've tried in a while. The sauce base for both items was inedible and so sweet. Really thick in texture like it was made with sweet and sour sauce, that gummy texture. So nasty. We ended up throwing the food away. Never ordering from them again. Totally wasted our money. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Place is pretty good, wanted to try something different and I found this joint. It's a chipotle style place and they have good choices of toppings and meats. I picked the rice and the workers helped me and was super nice. They made the experience alittle better with their input. I would definitely recommend this place to people. read more

Honestly second time being here and I'm not impressed. The first time I ordered some fresh spring rolls and the order was $5.25 for two rolls. They had two tiny shrimps each.. Not worth it for the price you can go somewhere better. Also today I called in to order and I walked in the rain just for them to say my order wasn't placed so I had to wait.. Over the phone they gave me one price and in person they gave another price. Kind of irritating. read more

Really good! I ordered the spoon bowl and boba. Wish I had known that I could add toppings; it would have been way more delicious. Agreed with another reviewer that it needs more sauce. Found a lot of sauce and some peanut topping at the bottom of my bowl, so be sure to mix! Chai tea boba was DELICIOUS and their boba was so squishy and fresh! I want to drive back just for the boba and to try the mango sticky rice! read more

I got the thin rice noodle bowl with spoon sauce and it was pretty good. I generally like to get this type of thing from Vietnamese restaurants and this one was a little bit of a twist with the Asian fusion theme of this restaurant. I stopped by Spoon today after work with cravings for a tasty asian noodle dish. I had been eyeing Spoon since it had opened up not to long ago. Once inside Spoon, the decor is very pretty and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. To place your order, you fill out and slip with everything you want on it. I ordered a noodle dish with thin rice noodles, pad thai sauce, half shrimp and half squid with bean sprouts, egg (which is $1.25 extra) peanuts, onion, and lime wedges on top. The food was ready very fast which was very impressive. Now onto the actual dish. The dish i ordered was packed with flavor from the first bite. It's not super oily and bland like some Pad Thai like dishes can be, but rather the right amount of oil and the right amount of seasoning and flavor to make you want to keep going bite after bite. I was very impressed with Spoon, and I will definitely be returning and telling my friends in the area to check it out as well. read more

Being military, I've traveled to many places within the States and over seas, this spot has THE BEST Tom Yum soup, dumplings and Thai fried rice I've ever had. The whole menu SLAPS!! beware some dishes are spicy. If you can't stand spice, make sure you tell them when you place your order! read more

I gave this a shot right after it opened up, and boy I wasn't disappointed. Had a beef noodle bowl with potstickers on the side and a thai iced tea to drink, and it's about the most delicious lunch I've had in a while. Ordering was easy with the order sheet they provide and the prices were beyond reasonable. Everything was homemade and tasted incredible. I'll be absolutely going back for sure. read more

I recently moved to Richmond and live in The Fan area. I looked for asian food of some sort during my first week here, and found spoon. I ordered the pad thai because it's my favorite meal (i've ordered pad thai from around 10 places) and this is by FAR the best pad thai i've ever had. since my first time ordering i've gotten spoon about 5 more times and been utterly impressed beyond expectation every time. I want to know who the cooks are that are able to produce accurate, delicious meals from a variety of different countries (korean, vietnamese, chinese, thai, etc), i want to personally thank them! read more

They also highly recommended the salmon, so we've already got ideas for our next visit. The only real downside has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: parking in Scott's Addition can be a challenge. No parking lot but plenty of street parking.
