The seating and location are fantastic, but that's where the positives end. The staff was rude, the wifi was slow, and worst of all: the coffee was horrible. It was bitter and tasted burned. I was disappointed to find that my plated pastry sat atop a dirty dish with remnants of a previous person's meal. read more

Spokesman - Outdoor patio area. Limited outlets (one) but nice and shaded. - Coffee Roasteries Near Me - Austin, Texas

I've gone to Spokesman twice and I gotta say, it is a great place to work! The ambiance is great, especially if you're working there Thursday into the evening where you can bring your own record and they will play it through. They make the best golden milk i've ever had! Both aesthetically and taste-wise. The service is also great and they have plenty of seating, there's a bar to work at which has outlets, booths, and outdoor seating. I go there anytime I gotta get a change of scenery for work. read more

I landed in the Austin airport and wanted to find a local brewery with good food and character. I found Spokesman on yelp and was delighted by what I found. Granted, I thought the navigation was taking me somewhere very odd as Spokesman is a bit off the beaten path and was a bit harder to find in the dark. But it's worth it. I was greeted by a friendly staff and an interesting menu. The beer was fantastic and I got a cold brew coffee to go for the next morning. For food, I'd suggest the chicken salad sandwich. It was delicious! However, the bread is toasted a bit too much--so crunchy it hurt my mouth a bit. But overall, crisp and fresh flavors that left me wanting more. I'd order it again, just asking that the bread not be so hard. read more

Good coffee and chill vibes, super cool interior! Not a ton of seating but they do have a small side patio. Not the best place to work if you're trying to focus (can be a little noisy) but fun place to come for friends. Not your average coffee shop! read more

The concept they have going on here is all over the place. No real theme or glue keeping things together. The food doesn't align with the ambiance nor with the location or the music. If I had to describe this place in one word it would be confused. Very few food choices available so I order a classic turkey sandwich. Asked for a side of mayo and pickled jalapenos. Neither was available in the kitchen. What kind of kitchen doesn't carry (or can't quickly spin up) a simple and classic condiment? The sandwich was bland! It's so hard to get a sandwich wrong! But alas, I could perhaps fix it with some salt (since basic condiments were not available). There were no salt shakers available at the tables. I stood up to the counter where they keep the creamers and sugar hoping I could find salt packets there, nothing. Had to go up to the cashier and request some salt. That was the 3rd time I had to get up because I also needed more napkins than the sole one they gave me with my order and then of course I just described the condiment incident. As I write this review I am getting ready to get up a fourth and last time, this time to request a box since I need to take this sandwich home where I can fix it. Last but not least, I am indoors and yet there is this fly that has been trying to eat my shitty sandwich since it arrived. Place looks cool to the unsuspecting eye, but 2 seconds into the experience the whole illusion starts falling apart. read more

Industrial styled coffee bar with interesting mural/paintings on the walls. The decor and styling are pretty appealing. There is plenty of seating at tables as well as a bar. Staff are chill and helpful. I had the grilled cheese which came out after a short wait. This was panini style. It was a good grilled cheese. The tomato side was a nice touch. Would have been nice if it would have came with some chips. The coffee was good. A large coffee was not that big....but it was warm. Nice little coffee spot in an industrial park. read more

AHHH THIS PLACE IS SO COOL. This is an excellent example of a business making an effort to seamlessly live in its environment-- in other words, this coffee shop found a way to complement its outside surroundings near the Tesla factory, and almost gives off a steam punk vibe. I'm a pretty sunny person, but even I can't resist. Also, the drinks are actually good. Very glad that they were able to have an aesthetic look and comfy vibe without sacrificing the quality and taste of their drinks. I got the matcha latte with oat, vanilla, and turmeric ! read more

Such a friendly vibe at this shop. The coffee reminds me of my favorite place in New York so I'll definitely be Back! read more

This coffee shop is rad, for ambiance and creativity, 5 stars. However, my rating is due to the negligence of the two baristas--as friendly as they were. I have a dietary restriction (which I let them know) and can't have sugar. When I asked if the matcha was sweetened the cashier hesitated and said no, but because she looked unsure I gave pause. She asked the barista on bar, and he assured me there was none in the matcha or the oat milk. However, as I left, I was feeling rather funny, so asked the new baristas on shift to see the actual bag. "Sweet Matcha: Matcha + Can Sugar" was written ON THE FRONT OF THE BAG. They literally didn't even check, before assuring me my dietary issues were safe. I've been a barista, it's literally your job to know what you're serving, and to give false information with food/drink is highly unprofessional and dangerous when you're working with people's allergies. Not cool. All other aspects of this place were rad, but Spokesman management, please address this with your staff. Cheers, read more

Amazing vibe, great staff, good coffee, and if you come early enough some good gluten-free options. If you arrive late, the gluten-free options are limited. The chicken salad sandwich was OK without bread and ended up being pretty filling. I just wish they had a gluten-free bread option for all the great looking sandwiches. This is a great spot to hang out and grab a bite before checking out the Austin Winery or Wiskey distillery next door. read more

I really enjoyed coming here for some coffee and snacks. The aesthetics were so nice as well. The service was quick and the staff was super friendly. Great place to do homework or work! read more

Really fun place to sit in for a long time. I got here around 3 pm and stayed until 8! It was fun to watch the whole place transform from coffee bar into a bar bar. Music slowly got louder, lights dimmed, and the demographic changed. I had a good cup of coffee but nothing special. Another weird thing was their rewards program, I have been seeing more and more shops move to the 5 dollar one star system and I am not a fan! Really enjoyed atmosphere and the location! Really neat spot! read more

The music is very disruptive and usually quite loud, which makes it difficult to work here and to relax. Otherwise would give a higher rating. read more

A weird spot, but I can't help but like it. I was staying at the La Quinta about a 10-15 minute walk away, and this popped up as the best place to get a coffee. They were still open at 8pm, so I walked over to check it out. Definitely more bar than coffee shop, at least at night, but they still had filtered coffee ready to go for $2. Splenda and almond milk were available, which is super nice. And they gave me a refill before I left. Cool vibes while I was there with a DJ spinning and a pretty good crowd, considering it was Monday and this place is in the middle of friggin' nowhere. I am guessing all these people work nearby, cuz otherwise I don't know how you'd find this place. Wish I wasn't so exhausted from ACL or I would have stuck around for one of their 15 or so beers. Next time I'm in the area? read more

I love this place! I've only been once but I really like how they can serve coffee for there or to-go. I love that they provide mugs and cortado glasses for those that drink their coffee there. They also have a projector set up with TV shows which is cool. Very friendly staff as well! read more

This place is awesome. Coffee, beer, or food- take your pick! Awesome addition to the St. Elmo warehouses. I had a yummy grilled cheese and an iced soy chai- got a ton of writing done. Definitely wanna come back for the beer. Plussss, it doesn't hurt that one of the bartenders is a hot, funny Aussie. That...never hurts. read more

Grabbed an iced coffee, pound of espresso(VCR), and one of their super soft tees to take back to Tucson. Cool location in a refurbished industrial area. Nice atmosphere inside, staff was helpful and coffee was roasted to perfection. My favorite was the t-shirt. Nice design and super soft. I look forward to my next trip to Austin and Spokesman Coffee. read more

Solid place... I usually go here for beer. They have a good beer and friendly staff. There are multiple food options you can choose from if your get hungry, including several vegan options. I usually get pizza from Li'l Nonnas (food truck outside), but have also had grab and go tacos from Lick it Up @Spomesman. During Reverse HH, the first four beers on their board are on special for $4. read more

This was an interesting adventure. My friends and I wanted to try somewhere new and stumbled across this place. It's definitely hard to find and tucked away on a lonely street. The walls are covered with awesome graffiti artwork that provides time for long stares and exploring. The bartenders are super friendly and helpful. They have a large variety of local beers from various breweries which is always a treat. Their beer menu is written in chalk so I have a suspicion that their choices may change. Everything was very reasonably priced. It was a little dark in the bar.... I guess for dramatic affect, but it was a little darker than normal. I'm not sure if they serve food, but all in all a good experience. From what I hear this is a great place for a day drink! This is on my to do list. read more

Their matcha is very high quality. I'm extremely picky with matcha too. I asked for extra matcha and I needed a little creamer because it was so strong. That's a good thing! Strong = quality. Their lavender syrup wasn't my favorite though. Or maybe their syrups in general just have a medicine-like taste? I think it was the lavender but I got vanilla and lavender so I'm not sure if it's both or just lavender. Just be careful with the syrups don't get too much or it will taste medicine-like/artificial instead of extra sweet. I think the coffee is good quality too but I couldn't find a good balance with the syrup to make it taste good to me. My boyfriend liked it a lot though (he also isn't super picky). I would try a different latte again because I think this place is probably really good I just need to experiment with the flavoring maybe. We did have the latte remade and it was much better but there was still that hint of medicine-taste I couldn't get past. I definitely didn't want to ask to remake it again and my boyfriend liked it so it was perfectly fine but I would just be wary of the syrups, particularly the lavender. You can always add more but you can't take it out! They do have a little coffee customization stand where you can add more simple syrup if your drink isn't sweet enough and I think that's extremely helpful! I didn't see that before I ordered. I'm going to try to come earlier to try the pastries too! The place also looks extremely cool on the inside. The seating isn't very comfortable (hard surfaces) for me because I have sitting issues but I'm sure it's great for the average person! The server/cashier was also very kind and funny and helped us with our order a lot. read more

I came here to do some work and they had a lot of space and barely anyone inside. All 6 tables were occupied so I tried sitting in their "waiting" area and was told I couldn't do work there. Moved South and I'm happy there is really good coffee in what I dub this "coffee desert." It's a chill spot with a friendly staff. Also for all you DECAF lovers - I think theirs is the best!!! It's the only decaf I've found in austin that has a lemon/citrus taste to it (instead of the typical chocolate notes). Favorite spot down South. read more

I drove passed this place like six times before I finally found it. Look for the music place which is right next to it, I kept seeing that but Spokesman is hidden unless you know what it looks like. Once you walk in it's pretty cool. It appears to be a converted garage with lots of seating along the walls with outlets and free wifi to get some work done. There's also a long line of draft beers and a little water station. I wanted to eat breakfast here so at first I was disappointed in the very small breakfast menu (lunch menu included sandwiches but it started at 11:00am). The breakfast menu is granola and yogurt, pastries, or soyrizo wrap. At first I considered just getting food elsewhere but then decided a breakfast wrap would be fine. Could not have been happier with this decision! It is less of a wrap and more of a panini. It is toasted and crispy on the outside with a warm vegetarian filling on the inside and comes with two spicy dipping sauces. I live an hour away and I would seriously consider returning just to taste this soyrizo wrap again! read more

I came here all the time to do work or just to order my favorite coffee drink. Ordered it every single time I went, sometimes ordered it 2 times. One day another customer must've taken my drink by accident. I must state I hate bringing anything back or complaining, this was honestly my 3rd time in my life I've done this. But I was looking forward to the coffee drink every time I go there. I went to the counter to let them know what might have happened because my coffee drink didn't taste right. They took it back and less than 30 second they called out my "new made" drink. It's disappointing they thought I wasn't smart enough to know the difference. I didn't bother to bring it back. I didn't finish it. I'm just super disappointed in that situation. Hoping next time this won't happen again. The environment is neat. Graffiti art all over and a quiet enough place to have a conversation or to do work. read more
