The inside is very decorative I ordered the classic chicken sandwich and a side order of fries. As I waited I looked around and was like ok good choice this place is obviously busy so he food should be good. The classic omg it's so good the chicken is nice and crispy and it's seasoned well the bread is fresh the sauce is good as well. I paired the sandwich side order of garlic and cheese fries they are ok overall my meal was good read more

Went for breakfast. While paying with card, the cashier snapped at me in an ugly tone of voice "that if I i dIdnt want to leave a tip I should hit skip on the payment pad." I've been there a few times, and tipped, and the cashiers have always been very rude and feel like they are trying to stare you down. Never going back there. read more

Got the crispy D Luxe on gluten free bread. I was a little alarmed at first because the bread didn't taste gluten free, but after speaking with a man who I assume is the owner, he assured me that it is. You can tell all the workers here put a lot of thought and care into the food. The avocado was fresh and buttery and even the pickles are homemade. Would highly recommend!! read more

This place is great! The staff was super friendly, the service was fairly quick and the salad was super delicious! This isn't some crappy Panera Bread or Specialty's salad, this is delicious! It's a little expensive but I feel like the quality of the ingredients speaks for the price. I love the Alamo salad substitute roasted chicken, YUM! It's hard to find both delicious and healthy items for lunch in SOMA and this is definitely a great find for salads. read more

Seriously delicious. We have lunch delivered from Split a couple of times each month, and it has been a big hit. Their salads are really really good and I love their creative offerings. I also love their fried chicken sandwiches. My only recommendation would be too add more pickles and lettuce. Their lemonade is puckery and not too sweet. A solid choice for lunch. And yes, it's pricey, but when work is paying I don't care! read more

Very tasty salads and fried chicken sandwich! Line also moves very quick. Been in the neighborhood for about a year now and the staff is always very friendly. Topanga is always the most welcoming person every time I walk in there! Love her attitude and customer service! Try the Split Cobb! read more

I came here during lunch with my friend and I got the original burger while she got the classic sandwich. The line wasn't bad but the wait for the food was the tough part. Some people order so much food that it took time for my food to come out. The sandwich came out faster than my burger. When I finally got my food, I was so hungry I devoured it (it was also delicious). I would come back and try their other foods next time. read more

The Split Burger was great! If I had the time to grill my own burger it probably wouldn't have turned out as nice as this one. Topped off the order with some crisp fries. Delicious! read more

Super Duper has this place beat. I ordered the Reserve Burger medium rare with a side of Split Fries. The bacon was cooked so long it was like a burnt cracker. The burger patty was unevenly cooked. The horseradish sauce added a bit of interest. The bun was buttery. Overall I thought it was okay. The fries were fine; more crunch than potatoes. The sriracha ranch saved the fries and was damn tasty! I felt as though the burger was missing something. I just didn't feel that connection that gets me hooked. I recommend you try it out at least. read more

Stopped by here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. To be honest I'm not a huge French fry fan, but the split fries were phenomenal. I ordered the southern with grilled chicken and black beans on ciabatta. The bread was a little heavy, but the flavors were spot on. Boyfriend got the hickory which was super delicious with the crispy chicken. It's on the pricey side, but I will be back! read more

Split - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - San Francisco, California

A very good place for a burger! Chic yet relaxed. A little pricey ($18 for a basic burger and a side of Brussels sprouts) but the burger was so good! They have a nice simple menu too. Nothing to blow your socks off but it was very tasty! read more

Split - Classic Chicken - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - San Francisco, California

The Split Bread squad taking orders is fantastic. They ask how you're doing and awkwardly wait for you to give a real answer. Better than their friendly personalities, they sometimes give out free cookies or fries! I've gone a bunch of times for lunch and pretty much only eat no. 85 Crispy Chicken Parm. The sandwich is very good despite chicken portions that are way too small for the sandwich, especially given the PRICE, which is certainly too high. 4 stars for reasons of service, taste, people. read more

Good burger place. Ordered the basic hamburger, plain, and added my usual ketchup and sriracha. The fries - delicious. They were fresh and tasty, with just the right amount of salt. Definitely returning and especially after working up an appetite from the Yerba Buena Ice Skating rink. read more

If you need a hearty salad or a big door-stop of a sandwich then Split Bread is a great option for lunch. There's plenty of seating, though you'll still need to wait if you get here too late in the lunch rush. Pay at the counter and take your table buzzer while you scope out somewhere to sit. When the buzzer goes off your meal is ready and you can dive on in. The spit roasted chicken is pretty tasty and I enjoyed it in a salad along with mountains of greens and roast sweet potato and cauliflower. I like that I could choose how much dressing was put in my salad - "medium" was the perfect amount. read more

Ordered two iced coffees. Person put two iced teas on the counter and pronounced a name similar to mine, but not mine. When my food came up I asked for my two coffees and they pointed at the iced tea. I decided maybe it was just super watery so I tried it. Tasted like slightly flavored water. Told the person that I thought it was iced tea and they said "It's cofee. I PROMISE you... it's coffee." That was pretty ridiculous. $20 for incorrect food order, side salad with the wrong dressing and "coffee" water. read more

Terrible. They served me a completely raw burger. They just browned the outside and put it on a bun, tried to pass it off as medium, got argumentative when I said something was wrong. To "fix things". They gave me a charcoal briquette and some soggy forgotten fries. NEVER GO HERE EVER! read more

I wanted to like this one but the value just isn't there. I had the southern sandwich, and while it could have been good, it was lacking the main ingredient... CHICKEN. A $13 sandwich that skimps on the main protein is unacceptable and an embarrassment. Maybe I got a bad sandwich and this is a one off event, but I wouldn't put more money down to find out. See pictures for what I am talking about. Also, while the cashier was great, the woman handing out orders was rude and brusque when I asked for a bag (to keep my sandwich dry from the rain...) *Update* Corporate reached out and offered to make it right. This is greatly appreciated - +1 star for responsiveness. Will update further after visiting again. read more

A great lunch spot for sandwiches and salads. I went halves in the chicken parmy sandwich and the kale Cesar with a friend. The Cesar was good, the but the chicken parmy sandwich was unreal! Definitely not weight-loss material, but a comforting warm savoury lunch indulgence. I also tried my first Arnold Palmer here, don't laugh I'm Australian! It's a refreshing split of lemonade and iced tea named after the golfer (for other foreigners wondering), perfect for a warm summer's day. read more

This is just a review for the salad I got today for lunch. Short and sweet: the kale Cesar with added crispy chicken NOT worth my $17.83. The chicken is super hard and not great at all. You can do crispy without making it completely burnt and hard. I was trying to recreate a salad that I had gotten back in Seattle which is a kale fried chicken salad. Sadly, this place that I've been wanting to try failed me today. Not sure if I'm willing to go back to try anything else and get another disappointment. read more

Split - This for $17?! Totally not memorable. Chicken hard and burnt - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - San Francisco, California

Ordered breakfast wrap online and went to pick it up food was not ready. I had to come back 20 minutes later by then I have lost my appetite. Wasted time and money, not worth it and never again. Don't order your food online here if you're hoping to get it in between mtgs. read more

At work we ordered for pick up. I personally ordered the Buffalo Sandwich and the crispy brussel sprouts. Unfortunately I was disappointed overall. My bread was NOT toasted at all. Chicken was tender and moist. The breading wasn't very impressive OR crispy however. Past the heat, there wasn't much flavor past a hit of sweetness. When I generally think of something called 'BUFFALO', I'm thinking spicy, tang of vinegar and a bit of maybe garlic or some other creative flavor in there but there was NONE. Just because something is orange and HOT doesn't make it 'buffalo.' The slaw or whatever that was was too coarsely chopped (I'm talking nickel sized sliced carrots) and cabbage just all ended up falling out and making a mess. It also didn't have much flavor just a scant amount of dressing. The brussel sprouts were not crispy whatsoever although nicely blackened. They were flavorless, soggy and VERY greasy. In the bottom of the container there was a huge puddle of oil. I literally had to squeeze the oil out of them. The siracha ranch dressing was useful in adding some kind of flavoring to everything. I REALLY wanted to like this place. Maybe I'll try another location next time if I do. I just won't be going back to this one sadly. read more

First time I ordered a spinach salad and it was small and thrown together and cost me $14. Bummed! Today I went back to give their sando a try. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and fries. $16. Fries were ok. Had to get to go. So I walked back to office - 2 minutes later the bread was soggy, the breaded crisp from the chicken fell apart and the sandwich became an absolute mess to eat. Friggin joke! Won't get fooled again. So many other better (and cheaper) lunch spots in the area. Total rip off! read more

Split offers you the ability to appease either the devil (burger & fries) or angel (salad) on your shoulder. After numerous years of working in the financial district, I appreciate any place that allows you to easily place an order online and grab & go from the establishment. Especially one that is across the street from your office! I am always pleasantly surprised by the tastes in their salads, never boring! Also, the interior of the restaurant is great with seat yourself booths, giving you the restaurant feel without the wait! read more

3.5 stars! I stopped by here for a quick lunch with my friend - not too crowded during lunch time, and the line moves by pretty quickly. They have sandwiches, burgers, and salads as well as a few sides also. I went ahead and ordered the D'lux burger which included a grass-fed patty, avocados, carmelized onions, blue cheese, lettuce, tomato, blue cheese, and chipotle aioli to tie it all together. The combination was good, and the burger was just right. They didn't ask how I wanted my burger, but it came out to be juicy and not dry at all. There is a lovely grass area outside as well as outside seating. Grab your food and join the fellow yuppies of SF outside for a solid meal! read more

How long does it take to pour a cup of coffee? 15 minutes, apparently. That is considering the fact that there were only 3 other people in line before me. I've gone to Split Bread a couple of times before. Their food is overpriced. Salads are mediocre, the avocado toast consists of one dried out piece of bread,a third of avocado, one poached egg, and 1 slice of bacon (one! Split in half. $2 extra, too). The toast is $12. Not worth it. With so much competition around the area I'd rather go to Proper Foods across the street and spend half as much on food that's twice as good. read more

Great addition to the neighborhood, and open at 7 am for breakfast! With Four Barrel coffee and fried egg sandwiches, I'm a happy camper (although the avocado toast also caught my eye!). I understand they also offer beer and wine, so this would be a nice stop for a fancy lunch or after-work bite as well. read more

love, love, love this new space in SoMa next to Mixt Greens. fresh rotisserie chicken and pork sandwiches and salads. the burgers seemed really popular, I will try one next time. today we had the Cuban pork belly sandwich and a Grove salad. both were really good. I love Cuban sandwiches and this was a nice variation with the pork belly. and not greasy as they sometimes can be when they are pressed. this was much fresher. the space is open and airy with good seating inside, but there are lots of tables in the outdoor plaza too. service is super friendly and efficient. you order and find a table, they give you a buzzer when your order is ready. the food comes out quickly I'm a huge fan and will add this to my regular rotation for lunch in SoMa/FiDi read more

Such a good idea, such a poor value. Fried chicken sandwiches can be tasty but you're always left wanting more - its a small sandwich for over $12 once you're out the door, So tried the Alamo salad today with a couple of customizations - that was a mistake. I've got a pile of very bland ice-berg looking lettuce (romaine hearts) and a little bit of chicken. Somehow holding the black beans and jicama also meant no pumpkin seeds or chives as advertised. So, once again, for the better part of $20, I'll be left hungry and I'm a slender, middle-aged woman - not the top of the metabolic pyramid. A teen-age boy would bankrupt you at this establishment. read more

Hey @leslie, the owner, your company has great food but some pretty poor customer service. It's 2019, I'm sure you could find someone starving in the Bay Area that could do their job at Split quite a bit better than the folks at the mission street location are doing theirs at the moment. I left my sandwich sitting on a counter in a to go box - for almost exactly 3 minutes and 40 seconds - and the staff "threw out" my food (though I'm pretty sure I could see one of them in a booth across the room eating it). Make a mistake, that's fine, but don't lie to your customer. I asked if there was anything they could do about it, and pretty much all of them just stared at me blankly. "No" was the resounding answer. Tell me Leslie, would you throw out somebody's 5 dollar bill if they left it on a counter, or would you hold it and wait for them to come back and pick it up? No? Then how about their 5 dollars of untouched food? Yeah, not going here again. Zero accountability, smh. read more

Clean bright interior, comfy seats. Online ordering process and pick up needs to be improved. 1. If you order sides, and go to the pick up area, you need to inform the people behind the counter know that you are there. While I appreciate that they want to food to be as hot and fresh and possible, there were no instructions online or in the receipt I received directing me to do this, so I stood on waiting for 10 minutes, then finally inquired. 2. Options to customize orders are only limited to the items that are already associated with the item, meaning you can either double up on items, or remove them completely. You do not have the option to add items that are available in store, such as if you want tomatoes added to your caesar salad, no go. Chocolate chip cookie was very bland. I know cookies are considered extra, but was hoping for something a little more scrumptious! read more

The food is really very good. However, they are new and still working out the kinks. So, be patient. I will say that they have the nicest employees Crispy Eggplant - Good comfort food Crispy Chicken Parm - Tastes like it sounds. Nice and warm. Braised Pork - Tender and juicy Crispy Chicken (#66) - So good that my coworker got it 2 days in a row! Shroom and Asparagus - They're version of a grilled cheese. It's good, but if you want something vegetarian than get the Crispy Eggplant. French Fries - Meh. Kale Side Salad - Definite winner. read more

This review is for the sandwich #91, which unless I'm mistaken is their only vegetarian sandwich. This sandwich isn't cheap at ~$11 but it's SO GOOD. The combination of the flavors from the basil, mint, and arugula pair perfectly with the sweetness of the tomato and fig and the creaminess from the cheese. The size of the tomato and fig pieces are massive, which does make this sandwich a little bit awkward to eat. The juices also soak into the bottom piece of bread so if you mind your sandwich getting soggy then this one might not be for you. If I'm ever in the mood for a heavy lunch I'll come back and try the fried chicken sammies. read more

I personally think this place is more than $$ because it was $12 per sandwich... Which is kind of a lot for a sandwich in my book. But, really great sandwiches in a great location. I love the variety of fare here. There's unhealthy (but delicious) sandwiches and burgers, sandwiches on the lighter side, and some great options of salads. I had the Sonoma sandwich and my boyfriend had the Parm. Both were great!!! We also had the Split fries which were just ok. We were disappointed because they didn't have any of the drinks we were looking for... We saw Chardonnay on the menu but they said they were out. Then we wanted Lagunitas, which they were also out of. So that sucked but we still liked the food! Also, Rick was so upbeat and happy :) that always makes for a great customer experience. read more

Their bread is fantastic, others had the chicken and really liked it. I like the efficiency for lunch, the service and the ability to either stay and eat there or take it away. Wish they had more plant based options though, a bit heavy on the meat for my liking. Still though, the produce I did have was fresh and tasty. Good lunch spot either to meet a friend or take home. read more

I enjoyed grabbing breakfast for the first time in months downtown here. It's also conveniently located since my dad works upstairs and is an incentive to eat there. Their bacon egg breakfast sandwich was really good and the staff was really friendly and joked with me. I would also like to add that they play great morning music, i don't think it was the radio but I could be wrong. I look forward to trying burgers or other menu items. The breakfast sandwich I ordered cost about 8-9 dollars, I don't know many places for good breakfast in the city but this should be one of them. It's brand new and clean and not as crowded. read more

Split - Delicious fried egg bacon sandwich - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - San Francisco, California

Just had the classic burger which would have been fine but I caught a slight fishy odor, wonder if they make it on the same grill as a fish item? That was a little off putting. I ordered the fries with parm cheese on top, they were limp and flavorless. Needed to be fried longer to be crispy! And seriously, $2.50 for a can of soda? Come on, that's ridiculous! I work in the building so I was hopeful it would be awesome and it just wasn't... read more

There is some good, and some bad here. The Good: Their breakfast sandwhiches (Both just the egg sandwhich and the Jersey Sandwhich) are darn tasty! Also the burgers are well thought out, and while slightly expensive, are really good. The meh: Everytime I go there - my fries are always AT BEST room temperature. They're never really hot or fresh. I almost always go around 11:30 to avoid the pre-prepped lunch rush bit - but it doesn't seem to matter much. The bad: Their Hickory crispy chicken sandwhich is pretty bland - I didn't get any of the hickory or even any of the heat of the jalepeno. Also - I think the black bean puree is a mistep on this one, all you really taste is the bean. I was very disappointed with this one. Also - if you're going for a breakfast sandwhich - don't expect to get in and out with any sense of a hurry, even if you're the ONLY ONE in the store. They're usually too busy with the lunch prep to be concerned about actual customers waiting for breakfast. I've never gotten out in under 15 minutes for a egg sandwhich. I work next door - so likely I'll be back, but probably just for breakfast. I'd suggest, though, a little more attention to be paid to those who join you for breakfast. Their other location by the Metreon is miles away better. read more

Omg. That Parm. So good. It's juicy, not dry like you would expect most parms to be. The bread is soft and not rigid. The portion is perfect for lunch. What I hate about it? The fact that I'm about to work right next to that building. Going to gain so much weight. Worth it. read more
