Spitz is one of my favorite neighborhood Mediterranean spots in the NE. I always order the OG gyro, and the fact that they put fries inside the gyro is a game changer! I also love that you can get a mix of different meats without paying extra, I get beef and lamb combo - something you don't see at many Mediterranean restaurants. And whatever you do, don't skip the hummus and naan strips! They're perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy in the middle, and are addicting! Another huge plus is the value - it's hard to find a satisfying combo meal for under $20 these days, but Spitz delivers great portions at a very reasonable prices. Plus the service is fast! Such a fun, nice spot with a great vibe! They are clearly aiming to offer a proper, authentic Doner kebab here. While it's definitely better than most other doner offerings I've come across in the US, I think it still slightly misses the mark compared to the real deal. The rest of the menu definitely holds its own, though. The falafel was pretty good, and the drinks were a major highlight--especially the basil lemon drop! Yum! I've had this place on my radar for months in search of a replacement for Cava. This was way better. I ordered the salad bowl and loved it; plus the ingredients were really fresh. I found the prices to be very reasonable, especially considering the (very large) portion size. I'm a huge sauce person, so my favorite thing was all of the different sauces to choose from. I've picked up large catering orders from this location many times. The customers I've delivered to always raves about the food. It looks like a cool place and I kept thinking I would like to dine here. I dine with a small group every couple of months or so. I told them when it's my turn, I'm choosing Spitz. The restaurant has a fun and colorful decor. Order at the bar and they bring the food out to your table. It was a really warm day, so we chose to dine inside. They do have a nice outdoor area for when it's not too hot. We sat at a booth with nice padded seats. The menu has something for everyone, with clear labeling. I am vegan, so I appreciated the vegan menu section. My friend is vegetarian, and the two other friends are omnivores. I ordered the vegan doner bowl. It comes with fries, falafel, hummus and other Mediterranean items. It was good, but the next time I order it, I will sub rice for the fries. Service was awesome. I went there with couple of my friends on a Sunday lunch, it wasn't busy. There were more people in the outside tables than inside. It looked very spacious, eclectic place with colorful posters. The menu looked good and interesting with many options for - vegans, vegetarians and also non-vegetarians. There is also a bar area, where we have to put our orders in. The water station is right across so its basically a self service station. We tried the vegetarian and vegan Doner Baskets and they were pretty good. read more

I've been meaning to go here for a while and finally made it last night. While Spitz may not have one of the most appealing names, I can tell you right now their food is absolutely delicious. Last night, I had the Berliner and it was awesome. Their portion sizes are absolutely gigantic so you will definitely not leave hungry. They have a nice tap list and offer both indoor seating as well as a large outdoor patio. It's counter service, but the two people working there last night were very friendly and helpful. I've had this place saved for a while on a TikTok I seen. It is just as good as everybody raves. From the portions to the quality of the food it was all spectacular. Every ingredient tasted fresh. I had a bowl and my husband had a gyro. We also ordered their famous street fries and those did not disappoint. The price for everything we ate felt worth it, which is rare these days. I already want to go back and try more things. The atmosphere of the place is also inviting and comfortable. Many spots to sit inside and outside on their deck. We also had a stroller with us for our 3.5 month old baby and being new parents it's nice when a restaurant can't accommodate spaces for us. The staff were also very kind and offered recommendations with their sauce and food options. Will be coming back for sure! read more

Happy New Year! Stopped in on New Year's day to meet family. I was very surprised with the menu. We ate too much food which is a sign of good food. Everything was cooked perfectly. Seasoned to perfection. The young lady serving us was very cool. The restaurant wasn't crowded, especially after the NYE's parties. She was fresh and prepared for any amount of people. We came - We sat - We Ate!!! We had the fun opportunity to meet up with different family member (while a few were in town) to have an early lunch together. WE had never been here before. A gyro lamb wrap and chicken wings and oh - I guesses we ate our daughter's order of Gyro Lamb fries (oops - did we eat them all!!) The service was attentive. We were one of two groups in the restaurant, all the rest seems to be to go orders. Reasonable price for the quality of the food. While I probably wouldn't drive (again) from the SW side of Portland, I would definitely stop in and grab a bit to eat when I am in the neighborhood and hungry. Plus if you plan on frequenting, make an account/download the app for points for free treats/discounts. Also the daily 4-6 HH is sweet, I showed up at 3:55 but waited 5 min to order cause I saw I could save $10 total on my beer, street cart fries and wings lol. The sauces were phenomenal but the food portion was small, my bowl wasn't very heavy, barely any rice meat. The chicken was kind of stringy/cheap. My husband and I weren't in 100% agreement about Spitz. The menu looked great and the people seemed friendly enough. Except it wasn't obvious you had to go order at a counter. They brought us menus and then we sat and sat, waiting for someone to take our order. If they had a sign when you walk in indicating how to order, we totally missed it. Finally we waved at somebody and he said he could take our order. I got the Mediterranean wrap, and my husband the doner bowl. My wrap was too salty and I didn't like the texture of hummus on the wrap either. So I wouldn't get that again. My husband's doner bowl was a little salty too. And the French fries didn't do much it, as his meal also came with fries. He did like his bowl overall, however. The fries were delicious though. This review is for a delivery order from Spitz. Pulled up Uber Eats and saw that Spitz was offering a special. We thought we'd give it a try. We got a gyro and a Donner sandwich with fries and drinks. The sandwiches were great taste wise. They weren't filled with as much meat as other places but still quite good. The fries were delicious. We had iced tea and lemonade. The lemonade was not overly sweet which we liked. I can't speak to the service but I will say that our order was packed well. Pulled up to Spitz when I saw a post about Cava (a chain on the east) and went to see if we had one. Well, it was permanently closed but PDX Eats made a recommendation about Spitz. All their reviews were relatively high so I pulled up on a Friday evening. Vibes were vibing. Low light, good music, Halloween movies on TV, and bar, indoor, and outdoor seating. I took forever to go over the menu, and with recommendations from Krystal (the bartender), I started with a side salad. The lemon-herb tahini dressing was so good! After that, I tried the Berliner bowl with chicken. They initially messed up and gave me quinoa instead of rice, but the chefs in the kitchen cooked the quinoa perfectly. The green sauce- zhoug as it is named, was delicious! So good, I wanted to try and make it at home! (Haven't tried yet, though!) But, nice spot, good food, was able to find front door street parking, and will bring friends to try when they visit! read more
