Came to this spot to watch game 7 of the NBA finals. I was happy to see they were not only showing the game WITH SOUND but also had $5 pint HH until 5pm. They have around 30 beers on tao with a mix of IPAs, lager/pilsner, sours, ciders, and stouts. The bartenders were quick to ask for a refill and there is food next door at Grassa, which they'll deliver to your bar stool! Around 10 barstools and a few booths/tables. Found a booth near the window, and ordered a Block 15 Fresh Flow, and a ColdFire Juice Bug to quench our thirst! 160z craft pints for only $5.00 (smile). While sipping our beers we ordered Cauliflower Radicchio Salad, and it was a party in your mouth! Unbelievably delicious and complemented the beers perfectly! The brewery was calm, friendly, comfortable, yet city vibe-like, due to its close proximity to the sidewalk of a major street in the Pearl district of uptown Portland. Cute little beer bar with excellent pricing. You order at the bar and sit wherever. We sat at the bar and I really enjoyed their selection. I got the occidental and one of the fracture brews and I usually enjoy a light - hef beer and enjoyed both beers. Beware since they are from micro breweries... the alcohol level is higher than usual but overall great selection and if you're not a fan of beer they have mixed drinks as well. Before having to catch our flight back home, we decided to stop for one last little adventure in Portland. My husband and I found ourselves at beer o'clock. The gentleman who is pouring the taps was kind and engaging. The space itself is pretty nondescript but has a fun and funky modern vibe. So I will preface this review by saying that I am NOT normally a beer drinker. At most, my weak palate can handle a Pilsner or sour. Regardless, I don't think I'm completely disqualified from offering my humble opinion on this establishment: The highlights: There are 31 beers/ciders on tap. Now, I'm no taproom expert, but this does seem to be a larger quantity than what I've seen at other businesses. I suppose with a name like "BEER o'clock", they need to live up to their image. And live up to it they do. If you are lost on what to order (like yours truly), you can rely on Tommy the beertender to guide you towards a beverage that will appeal to your tastes. How does he do it? He has a gift. He is also cute. Additionally, if you like zoning out and getting lost in a television, this place has three to choose from. The space is clean, the decor is tasteful, and the whole place is connected to Grassa and Lardo so you can order food to be brought to you in BOC. The improveables: If I haven't been clear yet, this place exclusively serves beer (at least they stand by their name). This is not the place to ask for craft cocktails or wine. I do think they could appeal to a larger audience if they had a cocktail program, or perhaps a couple bottles of wine to pour. This place also teeters on the edge of falling into a sports bar category; two of three televisions play some version of games, which is great if you enjoy athletics...not so much if you are indifferent. This place has one of the best happy hours that I have been to in Portland. The hours are long (around 3-6pm I believe?), the selection is large, and the beers are cheap! During happy hour, almost 100% of the beers were $3 for a full glass (16 oz). A lot of them were local beers so it was a lot of fun trying beers that I had never had before. I also like the ordering system; instead of menus, all of the beers, their descriptions, sizes and price are on electronic screens, so it makes getting the information about your drink very easy. We got the six point puff and the abnormal maple mornings (both $3). Both beers were excellent. The abnormal maple mornings stood out especially to me, because it was so rich, dark, and smooth. It almost didn't feel like drinking a beer, and reminded me of drinking an ice cold, rich, dark coffee instead. Ambiance is casual. They have a large bar seating area and some comfortable booths for larger groups. I would definitely come back again for more beer if I am ever in the area. read more

I met a couple friends here and the tap list was as diverse as we were ... with a good mix of local options. After a short wait for an opening with the bartender, we ordered 3 very different beers for 3 different types of drinkers. Service was rushed (for good reason), so, beer me now and believe me later, that pint's not going to drink itself. And, then we waited some more because there wasn't any place to sit. After about 10 minutes a spot opened up by the door and hallway to Grassa. It wasn't the most relaxing of spots and had no view of the TVs, but with a cold beer in hand, its all good. Overall, it was just an ok (3-star) experience because the bar was so busy instead of a great chance to try a variety of drafts. We headed down the street to another place for a 2nd round and to continue on our night. I'd choose this bar again when it was less busy. As such, it'd be helpful if there was app to notify me ... Cool place to grab a brew in downtown Portland. Tons of taps with beer from all over the world, but an emphasis on Pacific Northwest breweries. I was eating next door at Grassa and was able to bring my pint over to Grassa's tables. Pretty great to have that service as an option! As I walked in, I sat in the tap area and the server let me try a few samples of what I may be interested. Happy hour was almost over since I got there before 5, but I managed to get a refreshing pint after deciding what I wanted. I settled for the eggnog stout that I never tried before and it was an instant winner. As the evening progressed, I noticed you can bring food from Grassa and Lardo since it's on the same block. I like the variety of beers they have to offer and there is something for everyone. I would definitely go back again since they have have taps that other places normally wouldn't have such as the eggnog stout.
