The whole experience felt like everyone working there would rather be anywhere else, and honestly, after eating there, I felt the same way. The burgers were massively overpriced for what they were. We sent the first one back for being overcooked and they replaced it with another overcooked, underwhelming burger and nowhere close to worth the price. To make it worse, fries are extra, condiments are extra $$, which feels ridiculous when you are already paying premium prices for a very average burger. If efficiency and good beer had a very cool, well-designed child, it would be Breakside Brewery Slabtown. This place somehow manages to feel laid-back and dialed-in at the same time. The standout feature for me was the QR code ordering system: scan, order, and close out your tab whenever you're ready, all from your phone. In a busy restaurant, this feels less like a gimmick and more like a small act of genius. No awkward eye contact trying to flag someone down, no waiting to pay while mentally calculating how close you are to just leaving cash and hoping for the best. That said, if you're not in the mood to embrace your phone as your server, the traditional route is still there. You can walk up to the bar or catch one of the servers floating around. It's a smart setup that solves the "we're busy and maybe a little understaffed" problem without making it your problem. Food-wise, I went with the meatball sub (on special). Handmade pork and beef meatballs, clearly done by someone who knows what they're doing, and the kind of sandwich that requires both commitment and a few extra napkins. No regrets. I paired it with the Breakside Pilsner, which landed comfortably on the higher end of "good"Not life-changing, but absolutely something you'd order again without hesitation, especially if you're settling in for a while. Overall, it's a place that feels like it understands how people actually want to eat and drink right now. I'll start with the beer since it is a brewery. The beer selection was good, all local. I had the Breakside IPA and the Bayside IPA. They were both full of flavor, I was very impressed. I also ordered the chicken tenders with a side of their beer battered sidewinder fries. The tenders were average and I didn't receive my fries, I got a Caesar salad instead. I was ok with it thinking it might be a sign to eat a salad instead. A couple minutes later, my fries showed up. They were really good, probably the best part of the meal. The ambience was kinda loud but not enough to stop you from having a conversation. It's definitely a place to stop by if you're in the area. It wasn't too crowded to the point where I walked in and was able to find seating at the bar. Overall, it was a chill place to be at but nothing really stood out for me. read more

We came for wiener week. They were busy but we got seated almost immediately at the bar. We ordered nachos, their special pizza hotdog, and the burger with beer combo. Sadly we asked for the blue cheese for the burger to be on the side since I don't like blue cheese, but they put it in the burger. So I can't speak to the burger. My fiancé liked it though! We originally planned to go to the restaurant across the street 'hey Luigi' but were told we needed reservations. It was a lot smaller than we thought. We walked around a few blocks and stopped in at like 3 other places and everywhere was busy, with a wait time. This was Valentine's Day about 18:30. We saw this place and I liked that there was no was sitting outside by the fire. I love having the space to ourselves. The last time my friend and I hung out we had the fire to ourselves so it was nice to have it again. I have anxiety when I'm in public so having the space outside to ourselves was perfect. The girl that was serving us was great, I don't remember her name. The bartender guy was a bit sassy waved me down saying I had to come to him to order. SMH lol. We both did their $15 deal, beer and burger. The burger was tasty, typical bar burger. The dip was ok, the pita bread was good, the beer was delicious. We would go back. It's a cute clean spot. One of us added the option of "no tomato" to our sandwich, the other added the options of "add ketchup" and "add mustard" to the burger. Both orders arrived incorrect, as if the cook didn't see or pay attention to our order. Never did anyone stop by our table and ask how our meal was. I do not recommend. read more

When the Burger Week burger with a side house salad came on the plate, I was so excited. It looked great, and the salad with the homemade pretzel croutons was just a perfect side dish. But boy, I was disappointed. One of the secrets of a good burger is the texture of the different layers, and at least one of them needs to be crispy. Brewkside food designer thought differently. A soft bread contained a good cooked beef patty and a little bit of cheese. I don't really taste the mushy(while braised) onions. So just one soft burger all in all - with an ok taste. Really nothing stands out here. I am even daring to say a McD's cheeseburger has a more distinctive flavor with a gherkin some onions and seasoned beef. This was a burger 2/5 I addition the great-looking salad didn't have a dressing I ordered the poppyseed and ordered it on the side. The expedition forgot to put it on the tray. So it was a dry salad. Which is a shame since it was such a good salad and the crouton was just perfect. read more

Came here while in town for a brief stop. Had walked by a day prior and noticed how busy it was. Felt like a beer and some grub so thought to hit em up. Came in on a weekday and quickly greeted and offered any open spot. Lots of great beer and a variety of things on the menu. We ordered the Nachos, pretzel, and some burgers and of course some lovely brews. Beer came quickly and cold and crisp. Pretzel was amazing and dough was on point. Went to here for lunch yesterday! Sat on the patio and it was beautiful. Plenty of outdoor seating. Breakside has a nice extensive menu, that will cater towards meat lovers and vegetarians. The usual, but better end, brewery, food. I had the Cobb salad, which was fresh, flavorful, and well done. Breakside also has my favorite beers in Portland. They also have a nice wine list, and cocktails for those that do not like beer. They have a QR code available for ordering. Which makes it nice. The service was great and the patio is covered and heated for those cool, wet Portland evenings, but the food was just average on the day that we chose to partake. The buffalo drumsticks were lackluster and the buffalo wrap was quite soggy. Everyone has a bad day and, unfortunately, that was our experience when we visited. Hope yours is a better one. read more

Once again Breakside Brewery is amazing! I haven't ever been to this location before until recently and the beer is as creative, refreshing and fun as it ever has. We got two different beers on this outing here. We started off with the Shades of Purple Pale Ale. This was a nice one for sure with it's flavors of floral, spicy, brown sugar and cinnamon. It was also an extremely aromatic beer too! But our favorite for this sitting was a fruit beer called I Purple You. Quite literally it's Purple (or pink) and it was a real joy to drink. It had the presence in the flavor profile of Graham Cracker and berries. Light bodied and refreshing which is what we desired on this particular day. Breakside continues to keep their beers interesting and experimental with it's beers and that is always a good thing as far as Steve and I are concerned! read more

Nice happy hour spot located in downtown Beaverton (directly across the street from where my husband gets his haircut at Dita Barbers). Street parking is easy and the vibe is super chill. I met a friend for happy hour on a Thursday night. We initially ordered beers at the indoor bar and then we migrated outside to one of the large picnic tables under the heated pergola. Service was prompt and helpful. I'm not much of a beer drinker lately so I asked the bartender for a pale ale & he recommended their Rainbows & Unicorns, which I loved. It was light and crisp with a peach/pineapple flavor noted. I'd definitely order it again. My husband joined us and ordered a variety of food from the carts available: fries, onion rings, pizza & taquitos, which were incredible. Overall, good vibes, service and food. Easy & approachable. Breakside brewery by far one of THE best breweries in PDX and in my top 5 for the west coast. The fresh hop IPA was their best beer. The house breakside brewery ipa is pretty good. The black ipa was nice and definitely worth trying. Food here was also really great too. Whether it's your first time here or your 50th brewmasters here are always accommodating and know how to tailor recs to your taste. The vibe here is pretty chill and people around here were generally friendly too. I'm coming back here next time I visit PDX! read more

Came here as we had a free beer token from the Inn at Northrup Station, where we were staying. The beer menu is.. extensive, to day the least! 14 beers on tap at the bar, no less. For food, we each went for the Ahi tuna steak burger, with a portion of waffle fries. The runs was just perfectly cooked, and it was a goodly slab too. Great venue, nice vibe, good food, great beer. Had an awesome time at Breakside Brewery in Slabtown! This spot has such a fun, laid back vibe with tons of seating both inside and out. It's perfect for catching up with friends over good food and great beer. Whether you're chilling on the patio or hanging inside the atmosphere is super welcoming. I went with the burger and waffle fries, paired with the classic Breakside IPA. For $20 it's an okay ish deal. Not super cheap but the quality is pretty decent. The burger was solid and the waffle fries? So good!! They had the perfect crunch and were seriously addictive. The Breakside ipa was crisp, hoppy, and everything you'd want from a local brew. My friend got the wings and said they were the best she's had in Portland. She even asked for all flats in the order comment section and they delivered!! Breakside is a great spot for lunch or dinner. It's really close to my office so we have team gatherings there frequently. I LOVE their Mac and cheese. I often add the steak (medium rare) or blackened chicken. It's always a hit. The cheese that comes with the pretzel is also great. The pretzel is huge and perfect for sharing. I tried beer for the first time here. I got the passionfruit one. I can't say I will ever willingly drink beer again, but it wasn't horrible! The space is huge and not too loud unless you come on trivia night. There is lots of indoor and outdoor seating. read more

Never been there before but it always looked cool! We were waiting for a table at the restaurant around the corner and thought we'd stop in here for a drink or two. Since we'd never been, we politely asked the hostess a couple of questions about the restaurant (i.e. "Are we able to just walk up to the bar or is it seating only?" etc) She couldn't have had a worse attitude. I've spent years in the service industry and I have never ever seen someone act as rude and condescending as her. If we would've given her a reason to conduct herself so poorly then I would've understood where she was coming from, but again we were being friendly and just asking questions. Completely unprovoked. Breakside is the small neighborhood brewery that's now a Portland institution. It's one of those breweries that people outside of Portland know about since they have won so many awards and medals for their beers, particularly their IPA. Their beer is clean and polished. Well-made, on a technical level. This is probably the best brewery located in the downtown area. The ambiance though, was a bit too clean and polished for me. It just felt kind of cold and sterile. We didn't have any of the food, but only because we weren't hungry. It looked great! read more

Came here on a beautiful sunny Saturday and this is a great place to hang out! The outdoor seating provides shades and dog friendly, and the inside is open and there are more tables upstairs for bigger groups to mingle. You check in at the hostess stand and everyone is super friendly and service is quick for the bar. Their tap list is extensive with lots of options for everyone and bar food to share as well. Breakside apparently wins a lot of gold medals for brewing. I've yet to taste a beer that I loved. Some are solid enough, others mediocre. But in a town with so much wonderful beer, I don't know how Breakside gets the hype. Also the food is pretty mediocre. They only serve waffle fries, which everyone knows is the least good way to prepare fries. The nachos are really unconscionable. I don't know what those are, but they aren't corn chips. Pita slices? The ones I had last night (I didn't order them) had barely any cheese at all, like maybe a Kraft slice for a whole bowl. I hate to slag on a place that has good people working there and is a fun location, but the food is subpar and the beer is mediocre, so what can I do? read more

The host was very rude when we arrived with a big party. We brought in a burger from outside for my grandson and they kicked us out even though we had 8 other people who would be eating there. In addition, the sushi food truck made a rude comment to one of our party when she asked whether the tofu salad was tofu on lettuce when he replied "that's what a salad isn't it"?. So rude, I will never go back there. They don't even deserve one star. Half of the food trucks were closed, it said nothing about it on their website. read more

I'll never understand places that offer delivery, yet don't make sure the order is correct. We ordered from this spot tonight and were disappointed. While the side salads we got were fresh and tasty, the main dishes were both a bust! First and foremost, the chicken sandwich we ordered was switched for another sandwich, so the special requests were completely ignored. Unfortunately (because of food allergies) it was therefore inedible. We also got chicken wings that were tough (?!) and not very tasty.
