Went here with some friends recently and had a decent time. The interior is pretty small, feels very cozy and staff were very nice and attentive. Food was served pretty quickly and coffee was always refilled. I got the Belgian waffle and it was okay. My friend got one of their lunch salads and the chicken in it was delicious, wish I got that!! Happened upon this spot after watching a TikTok. Had French Toast with lemon goat cheese and ham. Sounds odd but it was really great. I'm a chef at a local cafe and I plan to steal that lemon goat cheese idea. Went on a weekday so it was quiet. Service was gracious and friendly. Elevated, but not overly foo-foo, breakfast fare. This new location is quaint with good service. I was tempted by the Breakfast Grilled Cheese then re-read my review from their Sherwood location. Instead, I opted for the simple egg on brioche. It comes with a side salad, one of the better values on the menu. I was disappointed to see Tabasco (you know, like from the '80s), but appreciated the homemade hot sauce. My partner had the steak and eggs. Decent, but not too memorable. The star of show was the seasonal watermelon drink. So good. Dig the table by the window. One of those places I'd come back to, but won't rush to do it. read more

Quick read: YES, COME HERE! We took a chance on this place when some unexpected family flew into town and wanted a good breakfast. This was the first spot open long enough for us to still squeeze one in. As soon as we walked in, we noticed a sign proudly supporting inclusion and justice. As a Mexican queer woman, seeing that right away felt genuinely welcoming. We grabbed a table, got our menus, and I immediately noticed the Community Meal option-where anyone can come in and get a meal, no questions asked, free of cost. Our server overheard us talking about it and was ready to offer it with complete respect. We were the only ones in this restaurant and they were okay with providing meals for free if we needed them. That alone speaks volumes about the kind of place this is. When ordering, we learned they don't even have a freezer everything is fresh and locally sourced. Big win. One of us ordered the French toast, and wow... I wish I had too. It was beautiful, topped with nuts for the perfect crunch, and made with brioche bread. PHENOMENAL. I had a bite (and got the leftovers), and it was just as amazing cold. I ordered the chorizo breakfast sandwich with a side of tots, and even the quality of the oil they fry with must be top-notch because those tots had the perfect crispy outside with soft, fluffy insides. My friend ordered the huevos rancheros, which I barely saw before he devoured it and immediately went into a happy food coma. We also had biscuits and gravy--slightly sweeter than usual, but still delicious. I'll absolutely be bringing friends here for future breakfast dates. Brand new place in the neighborhood, 1mo old. Found it by searching Yelp for breakfast places nearby. I just had the "Usual" which is two eggs, potatoes and meat. I also added a "Side Pancake". All it was pretty good plus the service was fantastic. It's a cute little place, so stop in sometime. I found the first cup of coffee sour, but when they refilled it, it tasted fine. p.s. At any restaurant, if you receive a sour coffee, just ask your server to replace it from a fresher batch. Most places are fine with that. read more

Phenomenal food, service, and value. We're not from Portland so don't know if this spot is hidden but definitely a gem. Came for the good reviews and commitment to community and we will certainly be back next time we're in town. Cute retro-lite decor, featuring portraits of the best good dog, Milo. Comfortable seating inside and out, cozy but enough space. Generous portions, expertly flavored, not heavy on the palate. Breakfast potatoes were just the right crisp/tender balance. We were on the hunt for a place that serves breakfast food "late" and we were lucky to find Fat Milo's! It's a small restaurant and service can be a but slow, but the coffee drinks and breakfast sandwiches hit the spot. We opted for salad (choice of breakfast potatoes or salad) and we loved the crunchy breadcrumbs sprinkled on top. There's not much for ambience but we just wanted something to get our day started well, in and out. The chorizo breakfast sandwich tasted great, but was difficult to eat because it's a giant link split lengthwise. You really need to chomp through the casing. Would be nice if the chorizo was cut up a bit more. Prices were decent for the food and it's definitely worth a repeat visit. read more

It was such an amazing and personal experience. I have trouble with going to breakfast places around Portland because they just seem so "in and out" if that makes sense. Here it felt like I just went into those older breakfast/diner places that everyone loves because it's very nostalgic and simple. In the best way! Our server for the day was absolutely amazing! We are definitely going back more. I really want to try out their fries since they're thinner fries which is what I prefer!! I'm hoping to see eggs Benedict on their menu too in the future! Very warm and attentive service. Double burger - unreal. So juicy and tender. Tots fried to perfection. Pancake stack- heavenly, fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. Huevos Rancheros - I would say skip this one, the sauce is forgettable and the dish leaves you feeling meh. I'd be happy with a deeper more complex sauce. I've been to this place 3 times now. I get the pancakes every time. They are 3 for 3. I've come in around 10am each time. Kind of chilly/drafty if you're in the wrong seat. That would be My only complaint. Service is great, place is clean, food is very good. read more

Great service & friendly vibe and happy to see in neighborhood! but Ordered the egg&cheese (savory), and was instead brought the breakfast grilled cheese (sweet and super heavy on cream cheese, and $16 instead of $11). Greens were also super heavy on the dressing and bread crumbs. If you check out Milo's, plan to come with a big appetite for rich food... would still likely go back for second try, but will definitely ask server to confirm what they heard me order next time. read more

The whole place was loud, and so alive with happy people stuffing their faces. The only downside is that they don't take reservations, so waits can stretch to an hour. We got lucky and scored two seats at the bar and only waited about 15 minutes on a very busy Saturday evening. There's free street parking all around, but keep in mind the neighborhood is popular and busy. You might circle a bit before snagging a spot. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

I ordered the special salad with whipped ricotta, berries, and a mix of veggies, and it was honestly one of the best salads I've ever had. Light but packed with flavor in every bite. Do not skip the biscuits--they come with jam and butter and are pure heaven. Flaky, warm, and just the right balance of savory and sweet when paired with the jam. After finishing our meal, I requested the check and asked that the remainder of my disabled friend's breakfast be boxed up. After paying, I stayed at the table for just a few minutes to finish the cup of coffee I had purchased while my friend briefly went to the car because of his disability. Before I could even finish my coffee, a man who appeared to be the owner or manager approached our table and asked, "Are you going to be much longer? We have people waiting." I found this remarkably unprofessional. We had already paid, had occupied the table for only about half an hour, and I was simply finishing my coffee. When I asked what the issue was, I was told they needed to be considerate of the customers waiting. My response was simple: "I'm a customer too, and I don't feel you've shown the same consideration to me." I fully understand that restaurants need to manage busy periods and turn tables efficiently. However, hospitality is measured by how customers are treated, especially after they've chosen to spend their money in your establishment. Rushing paying guests out the door particularly when one member of the party has a disability is not good customer service. It communicates that maximizing turnover is more important than treating guests with respect. There are countless breakfast restaurants in Portland that serve good food while making customers feel welcome and appreciated. Unfortunately, The Stepping Stone failed at the most important part of the dining experience: hospitality. Based on this experience, I will not be returning, nor would I recommend it to others.
