I've only been to the Lardo in PDX (is it still there?), so I felt like I needed to give the brick and mortar a chance because, let's face it, the one in PDX is meh. We walked down here on a beautiful day after wedding deletes shopping, so spirits were high. My daughter and I shared the Willamette Reuben and her friend ordered the Italian Flag. We shared the Lardo fries. Oh man, the Reuben was perfection! Great place! I wasn't feeling too adventerous when we went with a small group, so I opted for grilled cheese and the girl at the counter offered a tomato soup with it. So glad she did because it was so good! Cheese and I aren't great friends, but this sandwich was so good! My partner got the Bronx Bomber and our friends all got other varieties. We went for Nacho Week and let me tell you we were not disappointed!! Classic nachos with a Korean flavor twist made for a unique eating experience. apparently, when you get all rich and famous and open up a restaurant in Vegas, you can forget about your humble beginnings and where you started from because they have let this lardo fall apart I grew up on Hawthorne and I was eating Lado's when it was nothing more than a food cart and that small little pot across the street granted it's been quite a while since I've eaten there, but this was the worst experience I've ever had there the place stank and smelled very funny when we walked in. The sandwiches really weren't very special and the dirty fries were some of the coldest nastiest I've ever had when my wife tried to complain. She tried to say oh it's because we throw cold peppers on there. It cools the fries down. These fries were absolutely cold, soggy almost like they've been pulled out of the refrigerator. The dirty fries used to be one of my favorite things. They're beautiful crispy, fries, fried, and pork lard with rosemary sprigs, small chunks of crispy pork belly a handful of fucking fresh peppers and Parmesan cheese they were amazing. We found Lardo on Yelp and there $10 was a pork and bacon smash patty with grilled peaches and dirty mustard. Very very happy with month Chefwich on a half salad half fries. A hack that didn't know until today that you can do with all their sandwiches (except the Cubano) and I loved it! Super generous portion. I really didn't have to finish the bowl but I did. All the ingredients were so fresh and went very well together. The braised beef from the Chefwich sandwich was so tender and paired with gooey cheese and house giardena it's divine. Filling but soso good. The fries were also very crispy and fresh. Ya gotta stop if there's a sweet parking spot right in front. I read about the April Chefwich "chicken fried steak" special. The Sugarpine collaboration is one of their best, so good. What made it was the thin Oyatsupan Bakery bun. A minor drawback is you really need to bite into it or else the steak slides out. It paired well with the Pandan Thank You Ma'am cocktail. I returned for the Rhinestone Breakfast Burrito the following day. Maybe consider changing the name considering the restaurant opens at 11 AM. It's got the oooh -ahhh factor and price to boot. Gotta say, ended up thinking this place is very good but not exceptional. Our Burria sando was very good. But our PBLT was very mid. Decent quality but kinda bland. Prices are a bit high as sandwiches do not come with fries or chips or anything so with 2 sandwiches, loaded fries and one drink, we were at $52. Also, do NOT get the loaded fries. The fries themselves were overcooked, hard & dry and the "pork scraps" on them were so dry & chalky they really weren't edible. The pickled peppers on there were really good though. I'm not rushing to go back at their prices but 4 stars as the food quality was there (outside of the loaded fries) & I understand why this place is popular. To each their own, as they say. read more

Rich Gencarelli has both saved my day and infuriated me more times than I care to mention. Since my family moved out here from Jersey, I've been routinely redirected to Lardo for all of my sandwich grievances. He's tried the West Side, he's tried Lake O, he's tried Vegas, but it all lands best on Hawthorne, and it lands with an audience he loves. That he offered beer discounts for the Frog Brigade at a time when the city's on edge and people on on the front line trying to protect their neighbors' basic right to due process only makes me appreciate this place all the more. Also hard to choose when you have favorites. The bahn mi and pork shoulder sandwiches are always favorites. It's fun to also see what the have for specials. It's fast casual, so you go up to the counter to order and they bring you the food. There is bae seating, some tables inside, and an entire huge covered (but not heated) outdoor patio.
