    Falafel Banh Mi (special) $14.50
    Sean R.

Simple counter deli sammich shop w/ some other sides like fries and potato salad. Most importantly, their bread is very good, quality ciabatta rolls. They've got maybe 10 different sammiches, I went w/ their rotating special which was a falafel banh mi. I'm not vegetarian but it sounded interesting and I'm glad I got it, the fusion worked very nicely because of the jalapeño slices. I also want to come back to try several others like the red wine braised beef. They also have a special for any regular menu half sando plus side of potato salad for $11. Size wise, I would say a full sandwich is plenty filling but not as ridiculously huge as I've had at other places. If you like sandwiches (who doesn't) stop by. Also, I was A-ok with the choice of music in the restaurant.

This was their special of the week, chicken shawarma base w/other stuff; it was delicious!! Enjoyed at Peninsula Park!

Great lunch spot! Great prices and nice outdoor seats, we got the #4 and #5 and a side of German salad and everything was delicious.

The service was great. I tried the meatloaf sandwich and it wasn't what I expected. The seasoning was unusual.

Entering the shop, you will be greeted by loud music. Be ready for that. You will have the option to dine outside, if the weather provides it and the seats are empty. The hosts are wonderful and very accepting with a positive attitude. Smiles and all. I ordered the Jim because it was the only sandwich I could eat. The majority of the sandwiches contain meat, so I would not recommend this for vegans or pescatarians. Jim was delicious and I consumed both halves of Jim flawlessly. Either hunger overruled me, or the sandwich was that satisfying. I do recommend the shop, but with limited options for non-meat eaters, I truthfully would rate Lottie and Zulas, 4.5. Yet, I don't believe the spot was "good."

We also had the Vinny which was fine, a bit spicier than I thought it would be, but I'm a wimp. The service was fine, not overly friendly but adequate. The food is 4 stars, the service 3 starts, but the real bummer was all the plastic. Plastic container, plastic cups and we were eating in. They asked if it was to go and we said no, but everything came in plastic anyway. The ambiance is quintessential Portland, right up until they bring all your food in plastic with plastic silverware to boot.

Juices kinda poured over rather than the meat itself being juicy, if that makes sense. Bread was disappointing. Lemon aioli was nice. Fries pretty good. Great crunch. Warm. Fresh. Not very potato-y though. Could use more of that potato flavor. Overall it was a solid sandwich but at $24 for a sandwich and fries, meh. You could do better. Nothing really wowed me or seemed particularly good.

I have been on a Reuben kick, and the best remains at Goose Hallow. But this was a close second, as it was great. I had a half sandwich, and I am glad I did, as it was quite enough. I had the Monsignor Murphy, which featured lots of House Made Pastrami, Swiss Cheese, Sauerkraut and Russian Dressing. I typically like a Reuben on marbled rye, as they served it on a Griddled Como Bread...and it was great. I didn't get her name at the order counter, but she was so friendly and engaging as well. Since this was my first time to the restaurant, she was able to provide me with a wealth of information. I will be back...and you can count on that.
