I ordered a sandwich from here to take on the go. I thought they had a lot of really great options on their menu, a lot of the basics, and a mix of out of the norm sandwiches. I'm personally not a huge sandwich eater. I thought the sandwich was good but not fantastic. Two reasons I didn't rate five stars. First, the bread wasn't my favorite. It was pretty hard on half and kind of soggy on the other half from the vinegar. Second, the aioli was completely lost, and was the reason I ordered the sandwich because it sounded so yummy! I only had a hankering for three entries in the 2024 Portland Sandwich Week, Snappy's green chile egg salad, ham, and cheddar was one. They had already sold 45 on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. It was decent, but I probably wouldn't reorder. For one, the bread isn't warm. Overall, their sandwich offerings just aren't my thing as they are mostly deli-meat based. The place feels more chain than artisan. Strange as there were no condiments for dine-in, but they sold them by the bottle. Too bad customers can't sample as it was delicious. I'd return just to stock up on the sauce. Snappy's is definitely one of the sandwich shops you will see pop up on yelp or be recommended by locals. It's moderately priced and has a fairly simple menu. It can be hard to find parking nearby, but it's doable. The sandwich shop is between two other restaurants a little sunk back. Ask people which line they are in to avoid wasted time. They participate during sandwich week and this last one was great! See in pics. I recently went to try a breakfast sandwich that was a special, but it was sold out when I went a little late that day. The Turkey Club I had was good and has more flavor than most thanks to the herb aioli. The bread is not super soft and a little on the crunchy/airy side. Service was ok, nobody in the store but I still waited 15 minutes for my food. It was dead in there. Ambiance was 80s throwback with VHS tapes all over the dining area. Food was a little disappointing. The sandwich I bought was $14 plus a $2 tip. For the cost of the sandwich I expected more meat. The sandwich is definitely heavy on the lettuce filler. Granted, my experience was limited since I only tried the 4 Pointer (Italian-style sub sandwich) but it hit. Savory, with a punch of acidity from the vinegar, stuffed with fillings and sizable enough for two meals, making the $15 price tag well worth it. I mean this is a match made in heaven. The horseradish cream and fried onions just take this sandwich to the next level. This is a must get for me - The Spicy Sausage Marinara was textbook flavor wise. I wished the sausage had more of a bite to it. The sausage in this sub was a little soft for my taste but if you like it that way then you'll like this sub. Ambience: - I loved all the VHS tapes on the shelves lining the walls of the place - Their food selection is so unique and there's something really aesthetically pleasing about their fridges. I think it's the way it's organized that caught my attention - They have a small TV in the corner of the room playing old VHS films which was so cool to me - I loved all the vintage memorabilia on the walls, specifically the autographs of famous actors that have visited Overall: I didn't realize that this place is more like a bodega than a restaurant. There's no seating so it's pretty much only good for take out. The person taking my order was super personable and nice. We had a really nice talk, you can tell they care about their customers which I appreciate. The vibe of the place is just top notch. It's clean, vintage, has a bunch of interesting memorabilia to look at and admire. I will be returning for sure to try the other subs. The ones I want to try next are: the patty melt, the turkey club, and the pulled pork. I also remember reading a quote from the signed Charlie Sheen portrait saying "This place with blow you away, and trust me I know a thing or two about blow" (or something like that). The herbed mayo on the sandwich with the vinegar and oil made every bite of this sandwich a thing of heaven, a perfect balance. I believe the bread is made in house and has the perfect balance of crunch and pliability that keeps you coming back for more scrumptious bites. For the price, the sandwich is a good size and was very filling. The staff is super friendly and they made my sandwich very quick. Tables full of happy sandwich eaters, the VHS playing 80s and 90s classics coupled with the vintage posters curated the perfect sandwich consuming vibe. We devoured our subs in a record breaking speed (cannot officially claim and record but I fear we did set one). The toasted veggie sub and jalapeño poppers kept me warm in this chilly weather, but it didn't just warm my stomach, it warmed my soul. Other sub shops just throw leafy greens between to slices of bread and call it a veggie sub, but Mr. Snappy marinated those veggies with love and secret sauce and heated it to perfection. I felt I came at a not very busy time but my order still took longer than I thought necessary. I'm curious how quickly it normally gets done. The sandwich was plenty spicy as advertised. The sausage was tasty but a touch dry. Some of the dry herbs were a little too strong in the mix. The sauce was ok but I thought it could have used more. The sandwich is a mess but that's not a deal breaker. The bread was solid and the right substance for the sandwich. My issue was that the wax paper stuck to and took off all of the cheese. Had some mishaps with delivery so I didn't get to try their food super fresh or hot but even then I was very impressed by the quality and quantity of the food from Snappy's! The Tuna Melt was huge and they're very generous with their tuna here, it was practically overflowing with big albacore tuna chunks. The sourdough they used remained fairly crispy despite many hours of being out and not eaten (damn you grubhub...). I love the addition of celery and potato chips for the crunch. The sandwich was very toasty on both sides, which is how I like it. I'll definitely be back to try this fresh off the grill when I get vaccinated. I also got a box of the Crispy Wings in sweet soy sauce, ginger, and garlic. Again, I doubt I got to try them at their peak form but the flavors were still good. They aren't stingy with the order of fries (I still have more than half of mine leftover), and there's something about that pickle relish on the sandwich that sends the flavor over the top!
