Solid sandwich spot. I like grabbing a sandwich and eating it across the street at the waterfront park. Busy at lunch with the jury duty crowd, recommend placing your order in advance. Love their sourdough roll - they don't make it clear on their website that the sourdough is a roll and not sliced bread which is a shame because it's really the sourdough roll that sets this place apart from other sandwich shops for me. 10/10 sandwich shop!! I don't eat any deli meat and I do enjoy as odd as it sounds the occasional sandwich! I I kid you not this is the best vegetarian sandwich ever. I have no hope to recreate this masterpiece. They even cut my half sando in half! Very kind of them. They also nestle napkins into the sandwich for easy carrying. First thing first, the sandwiches were fantastic, no complaints at all. Perfect portions from the meat to condiments I'll admit that during lunchtime, it gets packed, but I assure you it is worth the wait. Cleanliness was definitely noticeable. I was having an ITCH for a sandwich and after seeing this spot on Tiktok, I had to try it. The inside of the shop is spacious, but there is limited seating (only 2-3 tables with only 2 seats each). It is much better spot for to-go. I thought it was so creative the way they had their menu painted on a giant space on the wall, and it was so done so well and separated by meats. They have a variety of sandwiches and salads, but my favorite part is how they offer full and half portions! As someone who has a smaller appetite, often times a full sandwich is too much for me. My boyfriend and I ordered a BLT salad and two half portions of the Stein and the Strami. The portions were PERFECT, meat was plentiful, and the bread was amazing. I'd been wanting to try Break Bread for a while, and I finally stopped by last week and let me just say, it did not disappoint. Easily one of the top 3 sandwiches I've ever had. The bacon jam? I got the cubby puggy. Their puggy sauce is ranch based with hints of avocado. I wish I also tried the #1 which has the bread sauce, a ranch based tangy sauce. Instead, I got the Italian one, a classic. Both sandwiches were awesome and held up nicely until the next day. I asked if they could use a clean washed knife for the gluten free bread and they were super accommodating. So excited that they reopened! I've had their sandwiches before and their duct crunch bread keeps bringing you back. Tried the full size CAR this time and it's as fresh and tasty as always. They do such a good job keeping the balance between bread and filling. The chicken salad with ranch was super creamy. Ordered in person around 2 pm on a Friday and we were one of the last people to get a sandwich before they sold out of bread for the day. We got the chubby puggy to share on the Dutch crunch bread and it was really yummy. The bacon jam makes this sandwich really sweet and I didn't feel like they put a lot of turkey on the sandwich but otherwise it was super yummy. Located diagonally across from the new Multnomah Courthouse, Break Bread is churning out delicious and satisfying sandwiches Monday through Friday until 3pm. Soon they will be offering breakfast sandwiches, and I am so there for that! The shop is spotlessly clean and is designed with Covid and take out in mind you can order online and pickup or stop by and order there; it's a few minute wait for sandwiches as they are made fresh. There are so many choices, all with standard meats and cheeses but arranged, topped and dressed uniquely but not too out there. The result is a flavor profile that is delicious from the first bite until the last, making saving half for later nearly impossible. For my first, I ordered the Strami on French. The bread had the required crisp outside and the al dente chew inside. Spot on. Inside were several layers of melt in your mouth, perfectly seasoned pastrami like the type you would get in NYC. Havarti cheese, caramelized onions, purple cabbage and thousand island dressing completed the sandwich, all the flavors well balanced and cohesive. The sum is greater than the parts good! Next on my list is Somebody on the Blazers, a Turkey and ham with bacon jam. Not just because Dame is my favorite Blazer, but it seems we like the same sandwich combo! And the Chubby Puggy on the Dutch Crunch bread. And the soon to be breakfast sandwiches. So many! This place is phenomenal. They recently opened a block from my work and I legit have gone 2-3 times a week. I simply cannot get enough of the crunchy fresh baked bread, and the crisp and fresh contents. You absolutely have to get the Dutch-crunch bread - it is flaky with a slight crunch on the outside leaving a deliciously moist interior. The bread is just the beginning the sauces are what makes this place. I have never tasted such well crafted sandwich dressings (I guess that's what they are called). My favorite, the number 1, is turkey avocado, grilled onion, mixed greens, tomato and bread sauce. I have no idea what bread sauce is all I know is that I love it. This place isn't technically fully open as they won't be having their grand opening for 2-3 more weeks, but I stopped by today and was very pleased with the service and my food. I'll keep this review brief and save a more comprehensive review for when they've fully opened. But the space was nice and inviting and the live edge table in the middle of the restaurant was beautiful and had numerous plexiglass dividers as a COVID-19 precaution for when in person dining is allowed again. Food wasn't cheap nor was it expensive for the area...I thought it was priced fairly and was a decent portion for a downtown lunch. I got the Strami sandwich and upgraded to a Dutch crunch roll and it was fantastic. It had pastrami, havarti cheese, caramelized onion, pickled shallot, purple cabbage, and thousand island. The ingredients were perfectly balanced...all of the flavors melded and complimented each other perfectly. None of the ingredients really stood out in their own individually to me but together I loved that the pickled shallot and slaw balanced out the richness from the dressing and the pastrami. I loved the variations of texture and mouthfeel from this sandwich as well. Interior wasn't completely finished and that was fine. Customer service was very good. Their food is actually quite good, but the service is not. They don't even allow you to eat indoors, you have to wait outside for your food in the cold. Additionally, the staff is typically cold and unhelpful, even though they have very specific ways of ordering.
