I got the green dragon and this is my go to favorite sandwich. It's flavorful, packed, juicy, filling, and they skimp out on the toppings. The service is always fast and efficient. The inside is all decked out with Chicago and sports which I love. One of the best sandwiches I've had here.
One of East Burnside's best kept secrets, Sammich punches WAY above its weight. We went in on a Thursday at lunchtime, our first time in, and were treated very well, with one of the employees taking the time to explain our options in great detail. Once the food arrived, so did the lunch rush. It turns out I'm just oblivious as I've walked by Sammich dozens of times without even noticing it. Now that I've had a chance to partake in their amazing sandwiches though, I guarantee that won't happen again. I think both of us agree, these might be the best sandwiches in our fair city.
LOVE this sandwich spot!! I hail from the Tigard/sherwood area and called in my order because I had additional plans that kept me from dining in. I am so blown away by the kind service from the gentleman who rang me up. Recommend the snickerdoodle cookie when I asked about the selection/his opinion. I was also given a bag of kettle chips with my order! I am very happy this place was on my list and that I got to try it!
So many good choices! And so much seating. Came here on a Tuesday in the late afternoon and had a blast. The people working were so nice and fun! We ordered two different fish sandwiches and loved them. This is such a cool place for a quick lunch or a long lunch with a friend. Still thinking about the sandwich I got! Will be back again and again!!
We FINALLy stopped here for lunch and I'm so mad and also grateful that this is the first time we've gone because we would be here all the time if we had gone sooner. The food was amazing, the owner was awesome and al of the Bears decor was just an added bonus!!!!! Highly, highly recommend!!!! If I could get it more stars I would!!!!!
this joint has my whole heart!!! best friend from chicago showed me this place, and according to him -- sammich's beef sandwich is the closest thing u can get to an authentic chicago beef. i will say, i've never had a beef from chicago before, but it is a banging sandwich. tender meat, beautiful charred peppers and i LOVE the giardiniera. order it DIPPED. you get a lovely warm broth on the side, and it is absolutely heavenly dunked in it! weather was nice when we visited so outdoor seating was really nice. great service as well, will definitely return for this healing sandwich.
We went in and got a couple sandwiches after going to Portland Night Market. We got the Tre - Italian cold cut and the Porkstrami. We added the giardeniera to both and they were delicious. We also got Zombie fries but forgot a photo. Those were delicious, just wish there had been more toppings on them. We both preferred the Tre but both were very tasty. Also the side of giardeniera was only $1 and so tasty even on its own!

Holy sandwich was this place bangin'!!! so my hubby is a sandwich aficionado and I think he could eat them breakfast lunch and dinner and never get tired of them. So when we were coming across the bridge and realizing we'd be in NE, it was a no-brainer that this is what we were having for Valentine's Day lunch. I like a good sandwich, my husband and daughter LOVE a good sandwich. So in we went. Inside the unassuming exterior, you find a welcoming and vibrant restaurant. You order at the counter, grab a seat and wait for your fantasy sandwich to arrive. Hubby swears by the Tre, I got the Albacore, and the kiddo had pastrami. I am a sucker for crinkle cut fries, and we topped it off with a root beer. One of the best sandwiches I've had. No joke! I'm glad I got the giardiniera on it because it was freaking delicious and they make it on site. Servers couldn't have been more friendly, the atmosphere couldn't have been more enjoyable, and I will absolutely be back!
I have wanted to try the Porkstrami for a while, and it was delicious! I was concerned it would be too heavy, but it was well-balanced especially when you get it without mayo. I always get confused when mayo is added onto a sandwich that already has slaw on it. The bread was nice and fluffy. The porkstrami itself had a nice crisp from being griddled which was balanced well with the bright slaw. I wonder why they cut off the ends of the baguette, as I find that helps keep a sandwich together, but they have bags of baguette ends for free by the water.
I finally got to try Sammich during our winery's (Cho Wines) Summer Kickoff Party. We ordered the Tre Italian and the Porkstrami sandwiches (served with chips) and they were incredibly good. The flavors were on point and the meat and produce were super tasty and fresh. The sandwiches paired perfectly with the Cho sparkling wines and made for a perfectly balanced meal. What a treat! I really love when local businesses collaborate to provide special offerings and experiences for their customers. It provides a great opportunity to try something that you've had on your wishlist for a while and discover new favorites. read more
Was looking for a good sandwich place and bo found one! I give this place a 4.5 instead of a 5 rating bc it's very pricey for a sandwich. The service was good and worth the small wait (10min wait). They have inside and outside seating. I got the Italian beef and this is the closest Italian beef I have had outside of Chicago but you just get it dipped! Chefs kiss. Will definitely be back! read more

Great first visit to Sammich yesterday. When I walked into the door, I was warmly greeted instantly and that means a lot. Plus, watching Michael Jordan on the tv beat the Knicks is pretty special. I live in the Hillsboro area, but was on the east side, so I thought I would go the Sammich finally. It has been on my list for some time, and I am glad I did. I ordered the Pilsner on tap and it was refreshing. I then ordered the Cubbie Cubano..so darn tasty. It came with potato chips which were fine, but I didn't realize I could have ordered fries for a slight upcharge. Next time I will. I then purchased two cookies and a cup of tomato soup to bring to my wife who was at home. She loved them both. I will be back as I was super impressed with the all of the wall coverings and the Chicago postings. read more

I live at 233 SE 22nd...about three blocks south of Sammich. Yesterday I had a Tuna Melt at Sammich with a side of coleslaw. I have to say that was, without a doubt, the best, most delicious tuna melt I have ever experienced. Thankyou to the staff at Sammich for just being good at what you do....I'll be back. HL read more
My partner brought home two sandwiches, so I'm not sure what it's like inside. They have a little parking lot and there is street parking close by. We got the Timbo the Chicago Cheesesteak and the Cubbie Cubano. There wasn't any beef juice on the side for the cheesesteak. The Cubano was toasty and a great mix of flavors. I wish the cheesesteak had been as good, but the dressed lettuce soaked my bun on the ride home and it was soooo wet. It did have delicious beef and the giardiniera was a wise addition. Overall, they sandwiches are pretty good, but I would eat it there next time. read more
My go-to Sandwich place in the Portland area! Service here is always fantastic, and the sandwiches are delicious. The red wine vinegar that they put on the lettuce makes it soo good! I love getting sandwiches on the baguette, because it's soft and doesn't tear up my mouth. I'll keep coming back here! read more

I've been traveling to work in Portland for a project and have been there three times. Each time, my colleagues and I have come to Sammich for lunch. Really great sandwiches with a lot of good choices. I've gotten the Teagan twice and the Porkstami the other time. All were really, really good, but I like the Teagan best. One of our colleagues is a local who knows the owners and workers, so the service is always great, servers are always friendly. He has also said that every sandwich he's tried there is good: Chicago Italian Beef, Cubbie Cubano, Pastrami Zombie, etc. Definitely worth a visit if in the area and craving a good sandwich. read more

This is an absolute GEM, Great clean, inviting atmosphere. All employees were friendly and engaging, now the Food. Me and my son thoroughly enjoyed our "Sammich's" he had the Chicago Italian Beef and said it was beyond delicious. I had the Timbo and OMG from the 1st to last bite it was bursting with flavor, both had great amount of meat and perfect blend of spices and blend of the accompanying toppings. Outstanding sandwiches. For me the go-to choice here is the Chicago Italian beef, dipped (of course), and quite tasty given Sammich's perfectly prepared au jus, mildly spicy giardiniera, and grilled sweet peppers. I'm from Chicago's North Side and have eaten my share of Italian beefs, dipped (of course), and can testify that Sammich's version holds up to the best in the Windy City. Just as good if not better: during the 2024 Portland Mercury Sandwich Week Sammich is offering the "Slammin' Sammy's Texas Pork," (for those of you not from Chicago, that's steroid-fueled Sammy Sosa of Flintstones Vitamin fame). Texas pulled pork with pickled red onion, candied pickled jalapeños, slaw, and barbecue sauce. A truly fine sandwich. The pickled red onion puts it over the top. Something to keep on the menu. Great service. Friendly staff. Really energetic ambiance. Maybe Portland's finest sandwich shop. read more
Sammich offers a wide variety of sandwiches to try. I've been here a handful of times over the years and always try a new one when I eat here. They are all very solid choices. They make their own meats in house so you're paying a lot for that and the quality. The Pastrami Zombie is melt in your mouth delicious. It's hard to describe how the flavors all work together and it's just so good. Their other sandwiches are great as well. Expect to pay somewhere between $14 and $17 for one. It does come with a big of chips. It's not the cheapest offering, but it's also not a boiler cut sandwich shop either. read more
Visited during Portland Sandwich Week, and the hype did not disappoint. Tucked in a little small plaza, you'll most likely need to find street parking and walk over unless you're one of the chosen few to get a spot in the lot. The seating is all outdoors, covered and even has some patio heaters for warmth. Food came out surprisingly quick even with sandwich week going on and quality was great. The sandwich had plenty of meat, they definitely didn't skimp out. The meat itself was good, but wish it was a bit more moist or if the sandwich had some sauce on it. Overall a great place and will be back to try some of the other items on the menu! read more

Eating the Holy Grail may be the closest I ever get to storming the beaches of Normandy I thought I knew what I was going in to but the reality was a cruel battle of attrition that's left me a ghost of a man It's absurd to even call this a burger - the bottom bun is in shambles. It cries for escape from it's protein prison but like prayers to God it is left unanswered I had to put it on it's side and attack it like the fresh corpse of a wildebeest. Gnawing at nondescript pieces of meat, knowing that the cruel and simple truth is that man has dominated every creature that died to make this meal possible and nothing could have stopped us. By the end the only thing left was a pile of lettuce that escaped by virtue of it's slipperiness The burger is gone but the lettuce will remember. Because a murder without a witness is just nature. Staff is friendly, I'd expect a wait overall but even more during busy hours. My favorite is the Chicago beef sandwich with a side of Âu jus and giardiniera in it. They're sometimes inconsistent with meat and pepper portions but it does the trick when I want a sandwich (not a big turkey or chicken sando person). read more
