Meatballs and marinara sauce with extra mozzarella cheese.
Sandra M.

Great location in St. John's Portland, my go to is the meatballs are tender and full of spices. Topped off with extra mozzarella cheese. Awesome customer service and will definitely be coming back here. 5s

Wow! I stopped by the cart for lunch and everything I had was perfection. I devoured the Meatballs and Rigatoni. The red sauce was the one I've been looking for! I wanted the Arancini but that would have been too much food so I will return with friends. I finished off my my meal with Little Cannolis and was not disappointed. Cute cart. Nice people. Adjacent to a building where you can eat inside, use the restroom, and have a beer if you so desire.

a food truck parked on the side of the road

Decided we'd try an Italian Food truck. This food truck can be found in North Portland tucked away on a side street with about 10 other food trucks. We went based on the five star yelp ratings though they don't have many reviews. The meatball rigatoni was a spectacular culinary experience. The rigatoni was homemade perfectly, al dente and delicious. The sauce was full of Italian flavors and was a taste explosion in your mouth. Not sure the combination of me in the meatball, but it was juicy and spicy and tender. The Arancini were amazing. I've never tried arginine before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The outside had a nice fry, which was crisp and the inside was full of rice, prosciutto and mushroom and moist. It was a fun eating experience. This is a place not far from my office, I will definitely be coming back and trying their food again and again.

Delicious find! Loved the 3 things we tried (see Pic) and will be back for more! Great meatball sub, arancini and eggplant parm.

Cannoli are a bit pricey but absolutely perfect. The shell is crisp and the filling isn't overly sweet.

Dearest gentle readers,…read more A most scandalous correction must be issued how careless of me. The establishment in question is none other than the divine Grassa, a name that now rolls off the tongue with the same richness as its most indulgent fare. And oh, what fare it is. Here, along the lively stretch of Portland, one may witness noodles brought to life before their very eyes fresh, authentic, and handled with a confidence that borders on audacity. These delicate strands are then enrobed in a mac and cheese so decadently composed, so brazenly elevated, that it dares to redefine comfort itself. And just when one believes it cannot be improved enter the pig belly. Crisp, tender, and unapologetically rich... a finishing touch that transforms the dish into something whispered about in only the most exclusive of circles. Yes, dear reader, this is the sort of indulgence that lingers long after the final bite... the kind that ruins lesser versions without remorse. And so, with that final truth properly set, I take my leave once more. The tales of this fair city draw to a close, but not without leaving behind a most delicious legacy. Until our next adventure ever eastward. Yours most faithfully,

Casual. Easy. Delicious…read more You order up in the front and they'll bring it to your table. We got the truffle papardelle, pork belly mac and cheese, burrata, and Brussel sprouts. The mac and cheese was recommended to us and was definitely not a lie. Sweet, slightly spicy(not really), creamy, and tangy. A perfect blend of the best flavor profiles with sauce hoarding pasta. It's a life regret to not order this dish. Everything else was also very solid. I really enjoyed the refreshing flavors of the burrata dish and the Brussel sprouts were a necessary addition of vegetables.

I absolutely love Gabbiano's. The service is always great and the food is always in point…read more I had the Caesar of course which is always yummy. The chicken Parmesan, they had agnolotti on when I went which was delicious, and spaghetti and meatballs. We always get the fried mozzarella. It's so good. Also have to start with the house made bread with vinegar and oil. It's such solid food I keep going back. The tiramisu is always a must here. The drinks are delicious and it's such a cute space. I recommend it to everyone who asks where they should go eat! Can't wait to go back.

Gabiano's is Italian done right…read more First things first: order the fried mozzarella balls. Non-negotiable. I've worked my way through a good portion of the menu over the years, I have a few friends that love love coming here and for good reason! They do not take reservations so be sure to get here when they open to get a good seat if you're coming with more than a party of 4. And while the chicken parm wasn't my favorite, literally every pasta dish I've had has been excellent. Also the penne cotta? Wow. The wild mushroom ragu is rich! My personal favorite is the squid ink pasta with scallops - I've ordered this one a few times and it always slaps. Don't skip the focaccia. The bread with their olive oil is simple but truly unforgettable. The cocktails are consistently great, the atmosphere feels on brand without feeling stuffy like olive garden, and it's perfect for a date night, anniversary dinner, or catching up with friends. Portland has a lot of Italian restaurants, but Gabiano's remains one of my favorites.

If I love you, really love you, I have taken you to Piazza Italia…read more Let me explain: this is real deal Italian. I've been to southern Italy (Amalfi Coast) and the authenticity shines through. Piazza's menu is northern Italian and traditional the Italian American marriage we all know and love. It's what Olive Garden promises: to treat you like an Italian family member. When you walk in most of the employees snipe at each other in Italian. Cured meats hang from the ceiling and soccer plays in the background. That's like every actual Italian restaurant I've been to. Their wine list is simple and ultimately not that impressive. It's there to accentuate the food. They have a solid spritz. Whether you choose a dish with fresh pasta or dried (they serve both, depending on the dish) it'll be prepared beautifully. I've been coming here for years and I've tried nearly every one on the menu. Last night I even shook it up and got it delivered: the quality still held. One thing to know: that dish that in essence looks like carbonara is NOT carbonara. It is delicious, but be advised it contains ribbons of actual egg.
