Stopped by here twice during Overlook Porch Fest. On my first visit, we stopped in for a drink and to catch some live music. Unfortunately it was way too loud in the back room to enjoy the music, and there was a rowdy FIFA game on, so we headed out pretty quickly. Second visit, we came back on Sunday night for dinner. The vibe was significantly more laid back. We were able to sit in the booths in their main bar area and enjoy pizzas and a sandwich. Across both visits, service was consistently good, the food was solid and satisfying, and the beer was excellent. It's great neighborhood taproom with a fun energy. Came in on an early Saturday afternoon. My husband and I were greeted and promptly seated in a booth. Right off the bat, the restaurant is clean and cozy. After perusing the menu, my husband and I ordered cheesy bread, a meatball sandwich with clam chowder, and a small pepperoni pizza. We also tried the IRA, the Jiro, the Rosè, and the Little Ice. The pizza and cheesy bread were fantastic. The cheesy bread was just what you'd imagine--crispy and flavorful. The pizza was great, too. Crispy crust, with the perfect amount of cheese, pepperoni and sauce. The meatball sandwich was average, it isn't something I would order again. The beers and ciders were all great, too. I would come back for the selection alone. Our server was great, too. The customer service was excellent! I will say I felt like the price was a bit high for the amount of food we got, but I would come back for the ciders, beers and pizza! read more

Compared to their other location, I'm not as impressed. I came here to see a musician play, and due to a scheduling error, said musician wasn't actually playing, but he and I decided to grab dinner since we were both there, and to see the accidentally double-booked band play. This band was far louder than they needed to be, and we were placed in a separate room with no views of the band (so double-edged sword...no deafening volume levels, but no real ability to see or hear the band, either). I generally get sandwiches at the other location, but we opted for a pizza. The pizza was better than average, but not spectacular. The cheesy bread appetizer fared better, in my opinion. read more

This has been my favorite pizza for several years now, but recently they've made some changes and not for the better. They removed can sodas, and replaced them with glass bottles. Nice, but not conducive to taking food with you, which we had to do because my wife wanted fish and chips (across the street) and they told us we couldn't use their tables (even outside) because they were worried about cross contamination. That's very concerning because it suggests that they don't disinfect between uses of their tables. Very disappointed in what used to be my favorite place to eat. read more

Love coming here for their pizza! But wanted to try a sandwich this time around since they did have a variety. Tuna melt was okay, not something I would get again. It was just overall average. Should have stuck to their pizza! There is lots of seating inside and out. It does tend to get busy during dinner hours of course, but I haven't had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table. They do have a parking lot, it is very small, so I would just find parking on the street. Great place when the suns out in Portland! read more

We sat at the bar got a pint and a small jersey pie. Service was great and pizza was pretty good. You get some overcooked spots due to the wood fired but that isn't unexpected. The dough was thin but held up very well. The beers are double mountain so if you like their beers then all good (they also had a good selection, not just all Ipas). Space was very light filled and barstools were comfy. They have a variety of seating areas for whatever fits your fancy. Overall good time and super happy to have them in the neighborhood. read more

The staff are great, the food is decent, but the place gets OVERRUN with kids. I understand it's a neighborhood restaurant, but it's also a bar. The last three or four times my group has tried to meet there after work we had to leave because there were literally dozens of kids running around and screaming. read more

I came here for some drinks and snacks with friends. I was happy to see they have four different hard ciders to choose from (I don't drink beer). I tried the rose dry and heirloom ciders. Both were very tasty and on the dry side. They did a nice job remodeling the space from when it was Lucky Lab. I see this place being great for larger groups. I think they even have a large meeting room in the way back. Quite a few picnic tables on the sidewalk. The servers were very nice and they got us everything we needed. So glad we Double Mountain brewery opened up with Lucky Lab unable to keep the space going. LL use to do pizza so it worked out well as DM is known for their pizza. Rose cider is nice and dry, the Perry a tad sweet but refreshing and we enjoy tasting several other ciders and ales. They had 3 aged sours I'll have to come back to. The pizza was a hit. I go here regularly and I have never been disappointed. Sometimes I'll go with my partner just for a chill evening with pizza and beer. Sometimes I'll go with friends to play games. Sometimes I'll go by myself for a nice lunch. The service is always friendly and cheerful. The beer is good. The pizza is great. I lived in Connecticut for six years and this is the pizza I've been looking for ever since. And they will customize it as you want. It has cozy, intimate booths if that's what you're looking for. It has brighter, bigger booths perfect for playing games. And it has comfy bar stools is that's your jam. Highly recommend. So glad this came to our neighborhood. read more

I was so happy this place moved into the neighborhood. At first it was great, but the last 2 times I've been very disappointed. Just got a Greek salad to go. Added chicken for $5. There were literally 2 bites of chicken, 2 cherry tomatoes, a teaspoon salt f feta cheese and 3 slices of cucumbers never and not even much lettuce as fluff. This is NOT like the 2 Greek salads I've had there before and it was $18. Inconsistent and they also had no to go dorks, so I had to drive to plaid pantry to steal a to go fork. read more

Love the newest location for double mountain. O have to say this is possibly the coldest beer in Portland fright now perfect temp which is most important to a beer imo. I went here with work for lunch and got a couple of pizzas and two salads. They sure cleaned up the place from when it was lucky lab and brightened it up! The service was also attentive and nice! We got pepperoni and the mushroom pizzas and both were great! My only knock is that they were a little on the small size for the price but over all were very good! I came here again (after a great time my first visit) specifically to get the current special tomato pie. This may be the best pizza I've ever had. I'm at a loss for words. It's a sturdy thin crust with pesto + cheese and topped with heirloom tomato slices, parm + i believe pecorino. I've lived in the neighborhood for about 20 years, and am thrilled to see Double Mountain take over this space (formerly Lucky Lab, formerly Roux), and it was great to see the place hopping on a Sunday afternoon. What's working: The servers are grown ups, and know their business. When a business attracts and maintains this quality of server, it speaks well of the workplace experience. If this was a rough place to work, it would be a revolving door of teenagers. These folks were on it, and there were enough of them that we didn't feel ignored, even when the place was packed. The space has also received an understated but classy glow-up that is working. We sat at the bar, and were quite comfy while waiting for our appetizer and to-go pizza. The app was solid, if a little meager in the portion ($9 for three average sized meatballs). Very tasty. The beer is what you expect from Double Mountain: absolutely excellent. $7.50 for a 16oz pint would have me pretty upset normally, but their beer is good enough that I shrugged it off and sipped contentedly at it while the food cooked. What's not working: The pizzas were $31 each for classic 16" larges. We got a pepperoni and their sausage, onion, and mushroom pizza. The pepperoni was average. No better than we'd cook at home with a $10 take-and-bake. The other pie was a real disappointment. For $31 I expect something kinda interesting. This was just crimini mushrooms, regular old onions, and the sausage was more of a rumor than a story. The sausage should be the star. I know they've got good stuff because the flavor of the meatball app was quite good, so where was it on the pizza? We ended up paying $103 after tip for two meh pizzas, a small but delicious app, one excellent beer and one inventive cider. I'm happy to pay that if the quality is superb. Sadly that was not the case here. I'll likely be back for a beer if I have out-of-town guests, but sadly this big space in my neighborhood continues to host a business that just doesn't do it for me. read more

Our service tonight was laughable. The server came to us holding their own personal beverage and actually set it down on our table while running our credit cards. Instead of telling us the salad dressing options, the server just showed us the screen of their handheld ordering system. The server had an apathetic attitude and never smiled. We love Double Mtn beers and very much want this new location in our neighborhood to succeed, but hiring enthusiastic staff who know the basics of service was clearly not a priority of those in charge. This is such a great experience and we are so excited to have Double Mountain in the neighborhood! The staff was extremely organized and friendly. The restaurant itself was clean, but warm feeling and well-maintained. We got sandwiches and a beer at a table and ended up finishing up our night by grabbing a seat at the bar and having dessert and a cocktail. They have a straightforward but delicious selection of a few house cocktails if you're not in the mood for a beer or cider. We also really enjoyed watching them spin some records behind the bar!
