New York thin 18" house special

I'm not a beer drinker... so I skipped this place for way too long.... Don't make the same mistake I made. The pizzas are a-maz-ing! Great interior with plenty of outside seating on these perfect summer/autumn days. We've always enjoyed good service .... Friendly staff.... Great location in MLK (for us anyway!)

Came upon this spot at the right time. I had been walking in the rain for what felt like forever, and needed a nice place to sit and have a drink....Listen to some jams and remember that someone has the most beautiful singing voice ever... They keep it COVID compliant. Seating is super spaced out. You order at the bar and then can choose which sanatized table you fancy. There were a lot of beers to choose from. Like... a lot. Old Town IPA: they call it west coast style... maybe I'm used to this style to such a degree that it simply tastes of a hoppy IPA to me. I wonder what other styles and tastes my West coast living has robbed me of? I didn't try anything else, but can tell you the service was good! I'd definitely return to try out some more selections. This visit had to be kept somewhat short as I had puddles to step in, and shivers to shiver... walking around on a cold rainy Saturday is of course serious work!

Pizza and brewery for the win here! Sports tv hung up and lodging kind of ambiance with a bar and brew machines on the other side! Came here because the comedy show was right next door so decided to grab some food before getting some laughs in! Nice beer selections! Pizza was of the norm and complimenting to the beer!

Best balls! 5 meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce with gooey cheese! the garlic knots were okay--strong garlic but a little half-baked. also had a slice, which was mediocre, char isn't everything. The beer was exceptional. The server friendly. Very pretty place, log cabin lodge in the heart of the city. Was well into my meal--hungry--before i remembered to take a picture.

I've been dying to come here and I'm happy I was finally able to go. I will say this is possibly the most underrated Popular brewery in our city. Really good beer but the pizza takes it over the top which is some of the best city. Also love the fact how easy it is to get to right on MLK. The service was amazing and the quests I met there were just as awesome as well. It has some of the best out door seating too. I'm most definitely going back soon.

This used to be a 4 star for me but not anymore.... greed has set in. I asked for the happy hour menu and was told they quit doing it on Friday and Saturday. I explained that we have been coming out of our way for the last year and a half for happy hour. Get this she told me they are keeping up with their competitors!!!! Haha. Instead of staying ahead of them they are taking away to make more profit. They just lost my group of 6 that comes over 1-2 times a month. By the way I am the duke here. But then aren't brewpubs just flourishing in Portland anyway?

Pizza Week Review: 10 of 10 consecutive pizza slices I want to start off saying, I am no professional... I did eat 10 different companies slices on one day, one after another... so yeah... I will start with my one gripe... DROP THE BLACK BEANS OFF MY PIZZA!! Now the pizza, I don't quote much, but just listen to this! Beer-braised barbacoa brisket baked with black beans and finished with pickled onions, cotija, cilantro, and chipotle crema Do you hear that... let it sink in. This was my favorite, along with blackbird pizza, for pizza week... I will say this, the crust was perfect... the sauce was amazing, the toppings were untouchable, the crema... I could have gotten an IV drip if they offered it. Onions were still crunchy, oh and that meat.. It was great. The staff was all happy attractive people whizzing around and getting work done, they were probably the friendliest staff we saw that day, and the place was packed.. I will be back to check out thew offerings!! Killer job!

Detroit-style pizza with chicken, pepperoni, and basil
    Chris P.

This place was great! We stopped in purely on impulse and were very surprised with the quality and the ambience. We got a Detroit-style pizza with chicken, pepperoni, and basil, half a dozen garlic knots, meatballs, and a couple of cocktails. (The serving sizes are all great, we intentionally got a ton of food to have leftovers.) The pizza was seriously 9/10, with great flavor, airy dough, and a perfect caramelization of cheese. The garlic knots were equally excellent, and the meatballs were also very good. Our drinks were only $5, which was reasonable for the size. The total for everything I described was $50, which I think was extremely fair. The service was also great, and the cook time was speedy. It's a very cute little place that doesn't feel like it matches its unimpressive neighborhood. We'll definitely come back at some point.

The not so crispy crispy crust
    Nyla M.

After arriving at an impasse about where to eat on a Saturday night, we ended up at Old Town Brewing Co at 6:00 pm. The place was half empty except for a birthday party of little kids, happy in their balloon festooned corner. First, the good: the salad we ordered, the Brewer's Special, was full of fresh, crisp spinach, lettuce, decent tomatoes, crispy bacon bits and tender chicken chunks. The dressing wasn't exciting, vinegar based and pretty bland, but it didn't overwhelm the salad. The pizza, a crispy crust margarita, was a mixed bag. The sauce was a sweet, I spiced red. My partner like it. Me, not so much. The crispy. Rust was not crispy at all, except for the outside edges. It was soggy and rubbery under the weight of the toppings. I do not recommend it. The mozzarella was nice. The fresh tomatoes actually had flavor. We added mushrooms but they were hard to find, so few of them were there. The menu is written in the tiniest font that it is not accessible. Make sure to bring reading glasses. Our server was friendly and efficient. I won't be rushing back but it looked like the family with the large kid's party were happy enough.

Ghost Pie You won't regret it!

To be honest, we typically stay away from dining at breweries because the atmosphere tends to be on the more lively side...and we enjoy our silence :) That aside, it was worth checking out for carry-out during COVID on the suggestion of a friend. We were very glad to go! It was pizza Friday (that's a thing) and we ordered a thin-crust, large Ghost Pie. That pizza lasted two days, two meals...not because it's so big but we didn't want to seem like gluttons. But yes, the pizza is a great size. I was apprehensive about an alfredo based pie thinking of all the ways it could go wrong and their team shocked me. What a great pizza! The pizza was baked to perfection, the crust/dough was out of this world (with great flavors) and the sauce was perfect and served as the perfect accent to the other flavors. We'll definitely be going back especially since they are 2-3 blocks from us in a walkable part of town. Their service and their spirits were great despite the ongoing community health crisis. Thanks OTB team. Everyone stay safe and stay well and we will see more of you.

    Lemon wafer blonde and elderflower
    Stephanie S.

Nice brewery! I had a lemon blonde which was really good, had a nice lemon flavor. I also sampled the elderflower beer as well. I liked the space it definitely had a cozy vibe. They also serve pizza here, I didn't have any but it looked pretty good. Overall, it was a good stop I would recommend it.

    Not tasty knots
    Humam T.

I am updating my review. I am still giving it 5 stars even though my beer Export 80 was not good. It tasted like cough medicine with some chemical taste in it. The pizza was good. We had the original crust which was on the chick. It tasted good though. It is also on th e pricey side. The knots or not good at all. The meatball and spaghetti was very good. It's a cool place to hang out though.

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If all that was not enough, the service was friendly, the food came out so quick (about 10 minutes) and the place was nice and clean.
