No matter where you roam, near or far from home, one question must always be answered: where can I get good pizza around here? If you're in or planning to be in Portland, Oregon, I respectfully and enthusiastically recommend you include Pizza Kat in your considered alternatives. A thin, flexible, and tasty-all-by-itself crust. Tomato sauce that adroitly walks the lines between sweet and acidic, and between supporting the other elements well, fading into obscurity, and overwhelming those other elements. The right amounts of the right cheeses. And fresh, tasty toppings. (Sweet Italian sausage not dominated by garlic and mushrooms worth eating on their own, for two delicious examples.) Even better, prices are reasonable, and delivery is available. We had some delivered to our hotel, and it arrived almost as hot and tasty as we would have expected were we at a table near the ovens. There are other pizzas worth eating -- including the thicker-crust "deep cut" slices available before and after select shows at Revolution Hall. But when you want the thin-crust version done right, Pizza Kat will leave your taste buds and tummy purring, without clawing the life out of your wallet. read more

I hate to write this review because I was genuinely excited to try this place, but with so many great pizza options nearby, this one is an easy skip for me. Unfortunately, this was both our first and last visit. I don't think I've ever disliked a pizza before, but this may be the first one I would genuinely call bad. I enjoy wood-fired pizza and don't mind a little char, but somehow this pizza tasted noticeably bitter despite having very little visible charring. Whether it was the lack of sauce, the sauce itself being quite bland, or simply an imbalance of flavors, the end result just wasn't pleasant. The biggest issue is the value. A $25 cheese pizza doesn't need to be life-changing, but it should at least taste better than Costco's. In this case, unfortunately, it didn't. If your goal is to enjoy great pizza, I'd recommend one of the many other pizza spots in the area instead. read more

We ordered delivery so I cannot speak to the cleanliness of the restaurant or friendliness of the staff. The food was ready and delivered on time. We ordered the 12" Vegan Luxe, 12" pepperoni, pineapple and Canadian bacon, Classic Salad and Roasted Cauliflower. The salad was fresh and crisp, nice amount of cheese, great croutons and dressing. The cauliflower was cooked well with good flavors. Both pizzas had ample toppings that tasted fresh. The crust had a good chew to it. Definitely impressed and will return. read more

If you're someone like me who prefers to dine in for the perfectly charred fresh pizza slice then there's no better spot. Part of me is selfish and enjoys that I can enjoy it and not have to wait 3 hours for it. But also, pizza kat deserves the hype. It's cute inside, has great seating, a parking lot. It's on food delivery apps. It's great served fresh, it's great served delivered. It's great a day old. It's great when you're happy. It's great after a hospital stay (I in fact ordered pizza kat to the hospital) The staff are also amazing, always so kind. There are a lot of good places to get pizza in Portland, and now I know this is one of them. Tried the veggie and built or own pizza...both were good and I loved the chew of the crust. I picked up the pizza and ate at home. I've driven by Pizza Kat many times and while they are on busy Burnside, they have a parking lot adjacent to the building (right side) that made pick up a breeze. It's now on the list. There's only one way to put it: this is the BEST pizza in Portland. Full stop. And as an Italian, I'm very picky when it comes to pizza! I wish they offered a few more standard toppings for classic Italian-style pizzas. I'd love to see a capricciosa, for example. That said, while some of their topping combinations aren't my favorite, the quality of the dough is absolutely superb. They also make their own gluten-free dough, which is a huge plus! My daughter is GF, and she loves their pizza. It's an ocean apart from the usual frozen cauliflower crusts you find elsewhere. The taste and texture are so close to traditional wheat dough. Parking can be a bit challenging, but they do have a couple of reserved spots on the side of the building. Service is excellent. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Pizza Kat is my new favorite pizza joint. My review is based on two visits. My very first time was on Sunday, 5/4 and the second was on Friday, 5/9. Twice in one week. Yeah. It's that good! These NY-style thin crust pizzas come in two sizes (12" and 18"), and you can also get pizza by the slice! See my "Helpful Tips" below for more info on this. For my first visit, my wife and I ate there. We live a couple miles away and we've driven past it numerous times, always telling each other, "We still have to try that place." I'm so glad we finally did because their pizza is top notch. It's certainly the best pizza I've had here since relocating to PDX (from Los Angeles) two years ago. The pizzeria is not too big but there is a lot of seating! The atmosphere is cozy and alive and the place was clean and well kept. For our second visit, my wife and I decided to do an online/pick-up order. One thing I noticed on the second visit is that they had so many pick-up orders (a testament to how good this place is). The customer service was great both times. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. We felt so welcomed both times. FOOD RECS: * Get Wild (Me, both visits): This is a white pizza with king trumpet mushrooms! I love mushrooms so this was a no-brainer for me. And I absolutely love it! My mouth is watering just typing this. I mentioned it above, it's NY-style thin crust. The dough is so good; crispy base, but a chewy/fluffy edge. * Pepperoni (Wife, both visits): Can't go wrong with this! She loves it. * Classic Salad: This is essentially a Caesar Salad. We got this on our second visit and the to-go portion was a great size. * Cool Herb Sauce: This is essentially their ranch dressing. HELPFUL TIPS: * If you're familiar with my reviews, I always note if a place sells Coca-Cola products, and I'm so happy to report that Pizza Kat serves Coca-Cola products! Huge win! * In addition to offering full pies, you can get pizza by the slice! However, you can't order a pizza by the slice if you're placing an online order (it's only available if you're ordering in person/eating there). * Parking is available but it's very tight and is only limited to two (maybe 3?) spots (it's a shared parking lot). The two times I went, we were lucky to snag a spot with no issue. I just thought I'd mention it here in case you, too, are driving. * They sell merch! Hats, shirts and stickers! I got two stickers of their logo. Really cool! As I mentioned earlier in my review, Pizza Kat has become my new favorite pizza joint. I'll be coming back again and again! Take my money! I've only ever gotten their pepperoni because it's so amazing. Huge slices and dripping with grease in the best way possible. This place has a great ambience. Traditional brick on the outside and clean, modern, and fresh on the inside. Has good outdoor seating options in the warmer months. Disappointing + overpriced. I got a GF 12" pepperoni for $21 (on Uber Eats) and it had barely any cheese. The pepperoni had good flavor + was crispy, but the lack of cheese (and sauce) made it super dry. The GF crust was decent but very chewy - could have def cooked a little longer. read more

The best pizza in Portland. If NY style pizza is your favorite then don't think twice about going to PK. Their dough is fermented perfectly. It's light, airing, and they put a perfect char on it. PK serves slices which is great because you can get a slice of your go to standard slices while also trying some of their seasonal joints. One of my favorite pizza places in Portland! We have lots of pizza places in Portland! It almost seems like a new one is being opened every day. Pizza Kat gets it right on in so many ways:).. I can't say enough good things about Pizza Kat. Where do I begin?:)lol I will start with the pizza first. It's amazing on so many different levels. The crust is out of this world. So flavorful, and just the right consistency, and the red sauce is amazing. I have yet to try the white sauce, but look forward to trying it. The pepperoni pizza is amazing, and they load it heavy with quality pepperoni. This is awesome as many pizza places put like two or three pieces of pepperoni, and it's always super greasy. Not at Pizza Kat. The cheese is excellent. Having a slice of this pizza fresh out of the oven is like heaven on Earth. I have tried the hot salami, and vegetarian pizza and they are great also. They are always, using quality ingredients no cheaping out at Pizza Kat. I have yet to try the Vegan pizza but look forward to trying it. I appreciate that Pizza Kat is so inclusive of many different diets. I like eating meat, but enjoy being a part time vegetarian:). The best of both worlds. I almost forgot they have great salads. They don't stop there they have olives, meatballs The ambiance is casual, but tastefully decorated with some Italian features. I appreciate that as I am part Italian. Viva Italia. (Also, the pizza reheats great in the toaster oven.) There is also some great outdoor seating, which has a very European feel. It reminded me of my great experiences visiting cafe all over Europe. The service is first rate I couldn't believe how quick the pizza came out. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. It was great to meet the owner he actually took the time out as he was busy to tell me how me perfected his craft before he opened up, He and his wife opened up during the pandemic and survived. That says a lot right there. I can't recommend this place enough. With much gratitude thank you Scott and staff for bringing some joy and happiness to my life.
