I've been to the spires in Lakewood wasn't really happy with them so I tried this restaurant and it was a great experience. My waitress name was Peggy and thanks to her and the employees me and my husband had an amazing time with no problem with constantly asking for a refill, always having to call a different waitress, or having the wrong order. I tried like heck to avoid going to this place. It's not that clean inside or out. I made plans to go to another restaurant but because of traffic, I had to eat here or have no lunch. Pulling in ahead of was me was big mamma all tattooed riding her high handle bar motorbike with her Levis jacket and jeans wearing guy on his bike. Lots of truckers inside with various shapes of beards, but were having a blast shooting the breeze with the waitresses. I was seated immediately, and got waited on immediately. I was pleasantly shocked at their prices. The young waitresses brought out my coke immediately, and my food arrived in 10 minutes. I ordered the grilled chicken lunch. For about $7.50, you get a choice of soup or salad, roll or garlic bread, a large pan seared breast of chicken, pan grilled veggies (carrot, zucchini, and yellow squash spears), and choice of rice or potatoes. I got the rice-it was nice. The chicken didn't need any steak sauce or ketchup, it was crispy outside and tender inside, the veggies were fresh and not over or undercooked. The salad was not bad - they didn't just rip open a bag of salad, they added some croutons and cuke slices. The bun was soft but I didn't have room. They had some nice looking pies, but I had no room for that either. The waitresses regularly went around the restaurant refilling everyone's drinks and checking up on everyone. They were really friendly, but when they see a blackberry/ emailing/texting person like me, they left me alone. The truckers politely made small talk with each other and the wiatresses. It wasn't fancy, but what a surprisingly good lunch. No wonder they've been around a long time, even if it's not the best looking thing around. read more

The prices are cheap and they have daily specials for lunch/dinner and special cheaper prices for those items. No frills....you're not dining in a Denny's in Beverly Hills...rather Spire's in Carson next to an oil refinery. They are open 24 hours. Menus have pictures too!!! Finally gave this Spire's a try and it was "A-OK" Plus: The location is great, it is right down the street from moi and right by the 405. Parking is plenty. The food arrives fairly quick and service is good. The regulars are friendly and knowledgeable. A man and his wife sparked a conversation with my mom and her boyfriend about other location eateries and politics. I just sat and listened. haha Minus: The server was rushing us along a little right in the beginning and it was a little annoying since I didn't know what I wanted (i do not like being rushed!) but he was a good server and got the order right! Any who, the food! I got the tuna melt with fries and it was ah-ight. The bread and fries were lightly cook/toasted. There was little to no crunch so, if you like your food golden brown, order it that way! I am not against eating at this location again but it won't be my 1st choice! My mom liked her experience so I will most likely take her here again when she is craving Spire's. read more

I usually come here when I bring my car for an oil change at the Carson Nissan across the street. It's a simple place. Definitely a lot of locals or truckers taking a break from being on the road. Menu is actually pretty simple. Not many options, but enough. Good breakfast selection. I've had their pastrami sandwich and grilled cheese. Both pretty good. Love, Love, Love that they have zucchini sticks and, yes, they are tasty. Service here is friendly. Prices are standard. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but it does make for a great place to get some grub and kill time while my baby is getting worked on at the dealership. read more

This diner is in pretty sketchy area, its right next to an oil refinery which is by some train tracks and the roads that surround it are under construction. With that said though, if you're in this area late night, this is probably your best bet. The restaurant has seen better days, its in a weird octagonalish layout and everything looks worn. But there's plenty of parking, the service is attentive and the food is a pretty good deal. You can get steak and eggs for about 10-13 dollars depending on if its on a special that night. They have a rotating cast of nightly specials but i only rememebered seeing the ones for steak and those were about 9.99 for the steak and some sides. As with most diners and non-steak house places, if you want it medium rare you should ORDER IT RARE (it most likely it will come out medium well, but if you ordered it medium rare, for sure your steak is coming out well done.) If find myself by an oil refinery at 3am in Carson, then that means i'm coming back here. read more

I've never eaten here and my coworker raves about their breakfast and specially their sausages. The location is alright easy enough to get in and out of as long as there isn't a bunch of big ridges. Pancakes are really good. The waiters were very friendly and attentive and there was a decent amount of people dining at the time we came. Our food arrived pretty quickly, and it helps if your with another person at least. Pancakes are pretty thick as well so keep that in mind. read more

Went to Spires today for lunch since Noemi was not working. Hugo was our waiter. The service was exceptional. He is a wonderful waiter. Came to the table promptly, is very personable, and returned multiple times to check if we needed anything. The food was amazing. Love the new burger selection. I had the one with bacon/avocado and my mom had the mushroom one. Now you can get a good burger at lots of places, but it's the people like Hugo, Libia, Sonny, Lori, and Genesis that will keep you coming back in spite of the few staff that are just intolerable.
