Butifarra Sandwich: flavorful and super satisfying. It was tender and the bread was soft AND crunchy? Amazing. The yucca fries were a perfect accompaniment. Lomo Saltado: it just hit the spot. This felt like eating a home cooked meal in the very best way. Wholesome and flavorful and fresh! PB&J Latte: this was a cheeky choice for a weekend treat and I was NOT disappointed. I normally come for the Indian food in the plaza, but this spot has been on my bookmarks for a while. I'm really glad I finally tried it--and also a little annoyed I waited this long. It's truly a hidden gem. Once we sat down and placed our order, that's when the smell of the food started coming through, and it made the wait even more worth it. I ordered the pulled ham sandwich, and even though it sounds simple, the flavor and combination of everything, especially with the yuca fries, was really impressive. The spicy sauce they give on the side is also really good and ties everything together. My partner got the green chicken pasta (I can't remember the name), and that was just as delicious. Definitely something I'd order again. We also tried the arroz con leche coffee, which was amazing. I'll probably try it with caffeine next time since we came closer to closing for dinner. The space is ambient and spacious, and the staff were friendly and helpful when explaining the menu, which makes a big difference when you're not sure what to get. They also have free parking outside, it's handicap accessible, and there are restrooms available. One thing to note--it's a cashless place, so make sure to bring a card. First time hitting up Alli Kaphiy and it was a win. Grabbed the Jamon del Pais (house-made ham) with yuca and the Chimu (seasoned shredded roasted chicken) with fries. Both were really good and very filling--definitely didn't leave hungry. The house-made ham was a standout, and the Chimu chicken has a great specialty seasoning. It came with a side sauce that was really flavorful; I love spice, so if there was any heat in it, I couldn't really tell, but the flavor was definitely there. Hey reader, don't be shy, just come here and get the sandwich. But like for real, the butifarra sandwich was soooo good. Sliced jamon de pais (which is less like American-style ham and more like lechon), topped with aji sauce, topped with pickled red onions, on a fresh baguette-style bread that was like legit perfect. I got it with yucca fries that I liberally doused with their aji verde, which was spicy and addictive. The sandwich was massive; you could probably share it, though you may not want to. My husband got the lomo saltado, which he said was good, but I was admittedly too immersed in my sandwich to have any strong opinions on it. An iced arroz con leche latte made for a fantastic sweet treat to wrap up the meal; I enjoy my coffee creamy and sweet, but this one was straight up dessert. Super indulgent. I was so fortunate to randomly wander into this restaurant! I spotted it from across the street at the Chevron gas station and saw that it was a Peruvian restaurant. Their menu is very extensive and I received a recommendation from Karla who happens to be the executive chef. She was so friendly and courteous! She recommended the BUTIFARRA. This sandwich was phenomenal! It was half a pound of a specially prepared pork. It was on a toasted house-made French bread with lettuce, special Ají sauce (SHMACKIN) and pickled onions. It came with a side of non-seasoned (thank you) fries. The dining area is decorated with a mural and had some salsa music playing in the background. The restaurant and restroom are super clean! I had Alli Kaphiy bookmarked for a while and finally got a chance to try it. There is a small parking lot attached that made parking easy. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and decorated with a nice mural on the wall. There are several tables for dine-in. Although it was lunch time, we were able to order off the dinner menu as well. Prices were moderate with good-sized portions, and service was very friendly. We ordered the ceviche mixto and pescado sudado. I was less familiar with pescado sudado, but the waitress said that the restaurant owners are from Northern Peru so they offer some Northern Peruvian dishes. Both dishes were very tasty, and the ceviche was quite spicy (granted, we opted for it to be spicy since they inquired whether we wanted it spicy). We also ordered the chicha morada and maracuya to drink, but both were a bit diluted and also a bit pricey at $7.50 each, so I might just go with water next time. Overall, food and service were excellent and I am excited to have another Peruvian restaurant in Long Beach. I can't wait to return and try more off of the menu! read more

Don't sleep on this place!! First off - the chef, Karla, is a gem. I met her while volunteering for a local indigenous gathering. I was so excited for the opening of her brick and mortar because the food she made for our event was always incredible. Her family also works with her so it is a very homey, loving vibe. The servers/baristas were helpful and smiling. Everything we tried here exceeded my expectations. You can really taste the quality and skill in everything. The coffee drinks really surprised me because they weren't too sweet and you could really taste the coffee along with the subtlety of the flavors. We tried the arroz con leche and the pb&j. Both were super good but I loved the pb&j because it was a unique flavor with a nice touch of peanut and fresh strawberry jam. Bufitarra was delicious. I think what sets these sandwiches apart is again the quality of the ingredients. The pork was juicy and flavorful and I don't even like pork like that. The bread is really good too. The aji sauce is good w the right amount of spice. We got the yuca fries which were nice and crispy as well. Def a shareable sandwich as it's huge. We also got the ceviche which is only sold on weekends. Bomb! Again, you can taste the quality of ingredients. The stars were the mahi mahi, mussels, octopus and calamari. So fresh and the leche de tigre was so good and very lime forward. At the end wrap up the lettuce and drink the leche! They have coffee, sandwiches, some breakfast items and burgers on weekdays. This spot opened up about a month ago and it was the biggest mistake I made not stopping by! Location is a little rough as there isn't much parking but the food was well worth it. I came in for a quick lunch meal. First impressions, very clean, interesting layout, to be honest, I thought the dining area was nice but the service area was a little clunky. Menu is on the opposite wall of the cash register. Nevertheless, we move on. I'm greeted by a lovely team filled with smiles. I take a look at the menu and make my choice, the Chan-chan sandwich and a PB&J latte. I take my food process to go eat near my office. This sandwich was epic! Pork was super succulent. Acidic onions and herbaceous toppings cut through the richness. Bread was soft, yucca was fried perfectly! And that soup is a sleeeeeeeeeper! I can eat a whole pot of it and never get sick of it. The PB&J latte wasn't my favorite but that's my fault. I'm a black coffee kind of guy. Should've just gotten an americano. Overall, food is well worth the price. Alli Kaphiy means "good coffee" in an indigenous language in Peru. This place is located in California Heights by Wardlow and Atlantic. While it does have coffee, I came here for their Peruvian sandwiches. I went with their butifarra, which has slow roasted pork with aji sauce, seasoned onions, and crispy french bread. The sandwich was simple, but I appreciated the tasty pork on the warm, crispy french roll. The aji sauce was addictive. The sandwich and the friendly service makes me want to try more of the menu. Apparently, if you come on the weekends, they have special Peruvian dishes that they serve. This month they serve a ceviche dish and a chicharron dish. I didn't go with a coffee (they use Lavazza coffee, so it should be solid) but I did have a really refreshing passion fruit drink. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and I'll update my review as I try more things. read more

Super sweet family owners Peruvian place. Beautiful mural painting on the wall of machu pichu. My daughter and I went in here for lunch, thinking we were going to be healthy by eating a salad. We got the chicken breast crunch salad. Lots of greens, fried noodles, tomatoes and sliced almonds. Kind of an odd combo, but well put together. The vinaigrette was a bit salty and so was the chicken. We also got the yucca frita, which were on point!! It came with this delicious avocado spicy dip... YUMMMM! The food is soooo good! Never really had Peruvian cuisine before so I had no idea what to get. Karla and Cynthia took care of that. They were both so sweet and helpful. I was craving seafood and they recommended Arroz con Mariscos which was outstanding. My partner got Tallarin Saltado de Carne which was a beef and noodle dish. My order was wrong, but it didn't bother me because allowing them some grace to work out the kinks is necessary for them to survive. The food was really good and fresh, I wish the condor had carved turkey instead of sliced (like lunch meat) and a sourdough or brioche bun instead of plain white bread toast. The bacon, breakfast sandwich was executed perfectly, crisp bacon, delicious egg and yummy bun, not to mention all sandwiches come with a side of potatoes. This was a great meal. WOW! I've been meaning to try this place since they opened and finally got the chance today! I've been craving pollo saltado and the memory of one of my favorite childhood restaurants for years and haven't found anything close... until now! I walked In and was greeted by the owner, also chef, with a warm smile- knowing EXACTLY what I wanted I ordered and chatted with her and her lovely team. The pollo saltado is INCREDIBLE, I got the dinner portion to save some for tomorrow but ate every bite when I got home!
