Went tonight to celebrate national cheeseburger day all by accident. I clicked on an old email about a $5 reward, and the app showed it expired yesterday. I came across the fact that it was national cheeseburger day. I sent it to my husband, and he was 100% down for dog haus, especially since it was BOGO for their haus cheeseburger. We placed an order on the app, and my husband went to go pickup our food. He, excitedly, came home with the burgers. I started eating mine right away because the baby in my belly was hungry lol. Sadly, his burger had onions, and he can't eat them. He went back, and Christian helped him again. He was the one that helped him earlier. Christian was doing everything back there by himself. It was empty when we got there but there was a steady stream of orders being picked up. We ordered from our table using a QR code. The food is good, no doubt about it. The cashier suggested to me that I could use the kiosk to look at the menu as well as place an order, so I did. When I ordered my corn dog, it asked what dipping sauce(s) I'd like and listed the cost of each one. So I paid about 49 cents for mustard. I thought that seemed really stingy of them. When we started eating, my friend said he wanted some ranch, so I dug into my purse for some quarters to buy his ranch, but to my surprise, one of the ladies working the counter kindly asked what I needed and just gave it to me. My hubby would either get the Reservoir Dog which is Polish kielbasa, haus chili, haus slaw, and yellow mustard or whatever special they had going on. For me, I like to roll plant based if something is available on the menu. Sooo veggie works well for me and that is beyond sausage, hot Italian, wild arugula, avocado, tomato, crispy onions, spicy basil aioli. So tasty and the crispy onions adds great crunch. I like hot dogs with the Kings Hawaiian hot dog buns. We finally tried them out in person.. Service is OK. They are welcoming in the beginning but they do not thank or acknowledge you after you sit down at a table nor when you leave. The restaurant is clean and there are a couple of TVs to watch sports. Had my first visit here last week and really enjoyed it. I tried The Fonz that had an Italian sausage, topped some mozzarella cheese and pastrami. It all tasted really good, and using the Hawaiian roll as the bun just makes sense. I also got the chili cheese tots that were a delightful mess and very delicious. My wife had the chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries so I had a bite of that, and both items were good. Inside the place was nice and clean and the staff was very friendly. I've got nothing bad to say about this place, so here goes nothing.. Location: on the corner of Western Ave and Avalon. Part of the building that looks like a mixed use structure with retail shops on the 1st floor and business tenants and apartments (?) on the upper floors. Parking is also on the first floor. In between an IHOP and a Darrow's New Orleans restaurant. Don't ask me how they fit a IHOP in a shop that small. Food: I originally came here mistakenly thinking they were giving out free hot dogs for Hot Dog Day, but I missed it by a day. So, I got the Bacon burrito since they started offering those a few weeks ago. Plenty of bacon and this thing was not of a small size. I ended up eating the other 1/2 later that day as part of a late dinner. Very filling ( I suspect due to the tater tots) and cheesy with a nice touch of spicy aioli. Yeah, ,I knew I was coming back here again, and I did. Another night (late) I came in for the Chili the Kid. Wow, a chili dog done right. I don't know what kind of hot dog they use, but it was snappy and juicy and not overdone. Probably the wurst thing for those with GI issues ,but it is well worth it IMO. Ambiance: Not sure how to describe it, but it's definitely casual with a modern feel with hard benches and minimal decor. If I have one complaint is that both times I was there, the music was a bit too loud and this was when the place didn't have more than 6 people at one time. Summary: The staff was friendly and curteous. Service was quick and the restaurant was clean. The place is open until midnight so this a good spot for late night eats or a snack. Quality of the food is very good and don't even bother telling me what goes in a hot dog. I already know and I'm good with it. I think there's a kid's menu too, but not sure on that one. Yes, they have alcohol. Prices are on par with their competitors and there are various locations throughout LA,, so pick your spot. I'm sticking to the one in Carson. Happy eating!!! read more
